EA’s announced a Limited Edition of Medal of Honor which will come with an invitation to the Battlefield 3 Beta.

Battlefield 3, ya say? Well, damn the smart-bombs and full speed ahead, then.

According to the press release, those who own the Limited Edition of MOH will receive an invitation to the Battlefield 3 Beta within 12-months following the release of Medal of Honor.

The Beta offer is contingent on Beta availability, and will be available for a limited time only and the offer expires upon close of Beta events and those participating in it on Xbox Live must be Gold members.

Now, with all that out of the way, let’s get to the Limited Edition details.

The MOH LE features special content out-of-the-box including the MP-7, a weapon utilized by real-world Tier 1 Operators in the field, which is considered a light weight weapon with a high rate of fire with the ability to penetrate body armor. It handles like a pistol, yet allows targets to be engaged like a rifle.

The Limited Edition also includes camouflage, and two shotguns with custom slugs which are ideal for close-range fights.

Medal of Honor launches on October 12 in North America and October 15 in Europe for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

The PS3 version of the Limited Edition also includes the classic, Medal of Honor Frontline completely remastered in HD just like the regular retail version.

EA combats Activision’s inclusion of a soulful song from Eminem’s new album in Call of Duty: Black Ops with the inclusion of a soulful song from Linkin Park’s new album in Medal of Honor.

Is there some unwritten rule that big-name first-person shooter releases must contain a new song from musical artists I stopped caring about long ago? If so, might I suggest Nickelback for Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier?

As Activision did with Eminem, EA is doing with the modern Medal of Honor, tapping Linkin Park to provide a tune from their upcoming album for the game. The album is A Thousand Suns, and the song is “The Catalyst.” You can listen to a little of it in the video below.

See? It’s very soulful and deep, even though it sounds like a lot of the other deep and soulful songs released over the past decade.

Not only is the song appearing in the game, it’ll also be featured in a full-length music video directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn. The video will appear on the Medal of Honor website on August 1, one day before it hits the radio and iTunes.

Medal of Honor will be on store shelves on October 12. Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns will be in stores on September 14.

Xbox 360 owners have been patiently waiting their turn to go online in the Medal of Honor beta. After weeks of delays, it appears EA and DICE’s multiplayer shooter is now available on Xbox Live. If you’ve managed to snag an elusive code, you’ll be able to redeem it here to exchange it for an Xbox Live voucher.

The beta is expected to end on July 31st, giving Xbox owners at least ten days to get an early peek at the FPS. If you haven’t managed to procure a code, stay tuned to our Twitter account. We’ll be giving away a few codes later in the day.

The sequel to American McGee’s Alice will take place 11 years after the events of the original game, with Alice released from an asylum but still struggling to deal with “nightmarish hallucinations,” according to the official site for the 2011 game.

As nightmarish hallucinations continue to haunt her and invade her reality, she seeks to understand her torment in order to recover herself. Her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear and neuroses prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Her relocation to London seems only to add to their number and intensity.

Alice returns to Wonderland in hopes of finding the truth about her past, but as is often the case, something has gone horribly wrong and evil is on the move.

“Alice is a classic fiction, infinitely rich with memorable characters, places and experiences. Our approach to Alice: Madness Returns takes this colorful world and reinvents it with psychotic personalities and pervasive insanity,” said American McGee, Spicy Horse Games Co-Founder and Senior Creative Director. “We can’t wait to share our vision with Alice in Wonderland fans and gamers around the world.”

EA is to extend Medal of Honor’s multiplayer beta for PS3 and PC.

No end date was mentioned for the taster on the game’s website.

As for the beta’s 360 version, the only piece of info provided on that was: “We are continuing to work with Microsoft on the Xbox 360 beta and are dedicated to delivering it as soon as possible.”

Medal of Honor releases on October 12 in the US, and on October 15 in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC.

EA’s announced a Limited Edition version of Medal of Honor, giving those who purchase it exclusive access to the MP7, a weapon utilized by Tier 1 Operators in the field.

The Limited Edition also includes day-one access to the TOZ-194 and 870MC2 shotguns, while the regular disc version requires players to rank up to receive the weapon unlocks.

Crytek has released a new Crysis 2 trailer, and it’s called Marine Salvage.

It’s a rather neat watch, honestly.

During EA’s press event, Crytek’s Cevat Yerli announced that all three versions of Crysis 2 will be 3D capable – so there’s a little something else that might sway you. Or not.

The game’s out this fall on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 and a multiplayer Beta is expected sometime or another.

Squad up for the Onslaught today — if you’re playing on a PS3. Battlefield: Bad Company 2‘s cooperative Onslaught mode has been “delayed” for Xbox Live, an EA representative has confirmed to Joystiq. The DLC will be available for $10 on PSN as soon as the weekly update occurs later today. We’ll make sure to update if we receive any intel on a new date for the Xbox version — or any date for the PC version, for that matter.

As many know this is the first time that Urgent Fury has atteneded the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). This is a major step for Urgent Fury. In attendance were William Murray (FW’s Wolf Dog), Patrick Gross (Commander Claymore Fury) and myself, Shane Bell, CIO Urgent Fury. As you can imagine this was a major step for Urgent Fury. We spent time meeting with the major players in the industry with full acceptance as well as being snuffed by a major player as well.

Of course one of the most anticipated games for Urgent Fury is Socom 4 and yes we spent quite a bit of time with Zipper discussing this… we cannot reveal most of our discussions, but needless to say “WOW”. You will hear more in the podcasts coming up. I will say from my perspective (playing since S1) Socom is back with a Vengeance.

We also spent some much needed time with EA and DICE as they presented Medal of Honor’s Multiplayer to us. I will have to say that this is a great looking FPS for UF to add to our line up for 2010 – 2011.

Also in the mix we took a look at Brink from Bethesda which includes an intense Multiplayer as well. Though it is delayed for release in 2011 we will keep this in our scopes for some tournament play.

So of the biggest things, I will say that the debut of 3D gaming by PS3 and the 3DS are the leaders. Though many say it is a trend, I tend to disagree. Microsoft is still lagging behind in my opinion. They finally have added the built in wireless (about time) but still no Blu-Ray support, so you got to get that separate. And well no 3D either…

Everyone will be happy to know that you do not have to purchase a new PS3 to get 3D, it will come in the firmware updates. Also the addition of Playstation Plus for only $49.99 a year made its appearance at the Playstation Press Conference. Great price for lots of goodies, I recommend everyone gets it.

So this is a very short wrap up to the many things that came out of E3, be sure to listen to the upcoming Podcasts as we go into detail about all that was E3 and UF.

EA and DICE revealed that the Xbox 360 version of the Medal of Honor multiplayer Beta will be delayed until next week.

The PC and PS3 Betas remain unaffected and  still begin on June 21, although people who own Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and have pre-ordered MOH can start playing today.

A reason for the Xbox 360 delay hasn’t been given, though the company did write the following on the official site:

“We are extremely disappointed about this, but want to assure you that we are dedicated and determined to delivering all of you this awesome multiplayer experience as soon as possible.”

The Beta’s to be extended to make up for the lost time, so there isn’t too much time lost for those desperate to play.

MOH is due for release on October 15 on Xbox 360, PC and PS3.

EA COO John Schappert has just appeared on the stage at Sony’s presser to confirm that the PS3 version of Medal of Honor will get exclusive content.

That would be MOH: Frontline.

When Metal of Honor launches in October 12 in the US and October 15 in Europe, PS3 users who purchase it will get Frontline included for free, only on PS3.

“Medal of Honor has always been characterized by authenticity and reverence for the soldier. That sentiment has never been truer than it is today,” said Greg Goodrich, executive producer of Medal of Honor.

“Medal of Honor has had a long, dynamic history on PlayStation platforms. We are excited to continue that tradition today with this special edition of Medal of Honor that pays homage to the legacy of the franchise on this platform.”

Beta starts worldwide on June 21. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIPs who have pre-ordered Medal of Honor will be able to enter the multiplayer beta even earlier on June 17.

New footage of Medal of Honor has hit the internet in the shape of an 11 minute multiplayer gameplay video.

EA announced yesterday that the multiplayer beta goes live on June 21, although Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIPs, who have pre-ordered Medal of Honor, will be able to enter the multiplayer beta even earlier; starting June 17.

Electronic Arts today has revealed a new reward program named ‘Gun Club’ during its E3 press conference.

‘Gun Club’ members will receive benefits such as in-game content unlocks early access to beta tests and demos, as well as exclusive news from the developers.

The ‘Gun Club’ will support games, including Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor and a brand new paid digital expansion pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 set in Vietnam. Additional games will follow, including offers from Battlefield Heroes and Dead Space 2, among other titles.

Starting today, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIPs become eligible to redeem Medal of Honor rewards, which will include the ability to gain early access to the Medal of Honor beta as well as early access to a the M24 Sniper Rifle for use in Medal of Honor.

EA’s set to drop the load and start shooting on Monday night, straight after the Microsoft presser. Best not miss it

EA and DICE announced today that Onslaught mode for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is set to be released on June 22.

The co-op mode can be played with up to four players and promises an “online vehicle warfare experience” with “elite squads having additional challenges to accomplish new achievements and new opportunities to reach the top of the leaderboards”.

Also this month, the BFBC2 Kit Shortcuts will be available for 560 MS/$6.99/£5.19 individually or in a bundle for 1600 MSP/$19.99/£13.99/€17.99.

You can get them in a bundle for 1600 MSP on XBL come June 16 worldwide and on PSN $9.99/£13.99.

Onslaught will run you 800 MSP and £7.19 on PSN June 23.

Still no word on if it will hit PC or not.

What’s wrong with this picture: Weeks ago, Jason West and Vince Zampella barely had enough employees to throw together a TI-83 calculator sidescrolling version of Modern Warfare, and now they’re blowing the lid off a brand new blockbuster game?

The answer: everything. Which makes sense, because none of it’s true.

EA woke the Internet up from its crazy fever dream when it informed IGN that there would be no Respawn-related announcements at E3 this year.

This comes after a page on Facebook attributing itself to Jason West and Vince Zampella claimed a “big time announcement” was coming next week, and then proceeded to call everyone “kiddies.” In retrospect, that was probably a red flag right there.

Turns out, games are actually kind of hard to develop. And here we thought you just had to veg out with what appears to be a PlayStation controller and “tighten up” graphics for an afternoon or so. Because graphics can apparently be loose.

EA’s released a trailer of the third map pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, showing off some of the new stuff from the DLC.

Some of the new stuff includes Squad Deathmatch on Nelson Bay and Squad Rush on Laguna Alta.

The new content is available to those who bought the game with a VIP code from June 9 for PS3 and 360. That’s tomorrow, kids.

PC owners will get it sometime afterwards, but won’t need a VIP code to access them.

See them hills? Run. Respawn Entertainment is set to make a massive “big time announcement” at E3 next week.

At least, that’s according to a status update on the group page of Respawn founders Jason West and Vince Zampella on Facebook. It reads:

“big time announcement at E3 next week. stay tuned, kiddies!”

This may be a change of tune compared to what was said by EA Partners boss David DeMartini a couple of weeks back on if we’ll see anything by the upstart at the LA mega-event next week.

“I don’t think we’re going to see anything from them at E3,” he told VG247 following his label’s announcement in signing Insomniac Games to its first multi-plat title, “but everything’s going great at Respawn. I think they just had a big furniture delivery…”

Respawn was founded by Zampella and West following their dismissals as studio heads of Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward by Activision for “insubordination”.

EA Partners were signed to publish and distribute its first title, with the dev keeping all control of whatever IP it creates.

Whatever’s going to be announced next week will almost certainly come at EA’s E3 presser.

Madden NFL 11 will log every play you call online, building a book on your tendencies that will available, in-game, to any multiplayer opponent. While the reports can be earned or unlocked, they can also be bought for cash.

Correction: This version of the story corrects wording that implied coins were redeemed for scouting reports 1:1. They aren’t, although EA hasn’t specified the exchange rate. What you get with a full retail purchase is 50 reports, not coins.

EA Sports’ Madden team revealed the new scouting reports feature today in an extensive discussion with ESPN’s Jon Robinson. Tendencies like your opponent’s run-to-pass playcalling ratio, the side of the field it’s run to, the side of the field his defense targets, will be redeemable through a coin system – one coin per scouting report – and coins may be earned for free by playing online games – and completing them. Coins can also be purchased for cash (or Microsoft Points) for those short on funds but needing intel fast. Finally, every retail copy of Madden 11 comes with access to 50 free scouting reports.

Sounds like a lot, but there are 45 separate tendency reports you can get access to, although you can buy the entire batch for 25 coins pre-game. But yes, that means you have to pay to see the book on yourself – such as the fact you always go to a slot receiver over the middle on third-down (raises hand) and everyone knows it.

There was no mention of how many coins it would take to buy a single report, nor of how much reports would cost in real-world cash or Microsoft points.

Pros: This can really level the playing field for novices who only figure out midway through the second quarter their opponent’s a slants-and-streaks guy, who’s already leading by 17 at that point. It’s useful information and if you know what to do with it, a legitimate value-add to multiplayer gaming that also adds a subtle dimension of realism to the game itself.

Cons: Hardcore ranked gamers are going to be buying these reports too, and exploiting them in every match, adding another dimension of difficulty to running with that crowd. It’s a monetized commodity, sure, but EA Sports’ Madden producer Donny Moore is correct that by making these freely unlockable it’s not being done just as a cash-grab. I’m still not sure I like the idea of having to pay to see my own reports. As a gamer, that’s information I give freely to this enterprise, where it has value to the developer and to the community. It would be courteous to allow players to see their own “book” for free, and would encourage them to play in smarter, more diversified ways.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has officially exceeded 5 million units sold world wide. Thanks to everyone who has supported Battlefield and bought a copy. In other good news we can officially announce Onslaught mode coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Onslaught is bringing co-op gameplay to Battlefield for the first time on console. The new game mode puts you and up to three friends against the enemy on Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes and Nelson Bay – redesigned with new lighting, time of day, added vehicles and other effects. Each map has a dedicated gameplay focus, requiring different levels of teamwork in order to complete the objectives against an onslaught of enemy AI. Vehicle warfare comes to the forefront in Atacama Desert while Nelson Bay focuses squarely on infantry assault. Players can compete in squads and check individual progress via the dedicated Onslaught leaderboards.

Senior Producer Patrick Bach had these few words to say about Onslaught mode “We want to consistently support the fans playing the game with new ways to get into multiplayer and also challenge the elite players with new experiences to improve their performance online. Effective squad play is the key to success in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer and this new mode will provide players with a dedicated environment to test their team skills and rank against the competition.”

Onslaught mode will be available on Xbox Live and on the PlayStation Network.

EA’s confirmed that Medal of Honor will get a multiplayer beta before its October release.

And that’s it. No more details were announced on it, like how you’d get access to it or platforms for it.

It’s a bit “emotional” or at least tries to tug at your heart strings.

Regardless if it does or not, the video gets us a bit pumped for it, and makes us wonder if EA will indeed “take back” the shooter category.
