As it did with Resistance 3, Sony plans to impose its “PSN Pass” on Uncharted 3, meaning multiplayer access to that game will be subject to a one-use code included with all retail copies. That’s per Juan Jimenéz, Sony’s software manager for Spain.

That means that used copies of Uncharted 3 aren’t assured of including multiplayer access and, if their code is missing or has been used, it’ll cost $10 for someone to activate it the features

Online pass schemes, earlier implemented by Electronic Arts, THQ and others, are an indirect way for a publisher to get a cut of used sales, but they’re more intended to incentivize buying

Naughty Dog and Sony have posted a video of Nolan North unboxing the Uncharted 3: Collector’s Edition. In the video, you can clearly see the Nathan Drake Statue, Drake’s belt buckle and ring/necklace replicas and the Steelbook game case encased in the Travelling Chest. Naughty Dog shared the latest trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception yesterday at GamesCom. In it, we see our hero working his way through a maze of shipping containers toward a plane filled with Bad Guys. Since Nathan Drake is incapable of doing things like a normal human, he eventually boards the plane by hanging onto its landing gear during takeoff. I wonder if he got to skip the TSA patdown too.

There’s nothing new or revealing here, just more increasingly over the top footage from a game that pretty much every PlayStation 3 owner will be picking up this holiday season. The new trailer isn’t supposed to sell you, it’s just here to tide you over.

Naughty Dog has said since the multiplayer beta for Uncharted 3 opened to the masses on Tuesday, it has garnered one million unique users, and the number is growing by the day.

The MP beta ends on July 14, so you only have a few more days to “hit the requirements,” the developer has laid down in order to receive active rewards for the retail version of the game.

The full requirements and unlocks list is below:

• Download the Uncharted 3 Beta and receive the exclusive UNCHARTED 3 PSN Beta Tester Avatar!
• Complete 10 matches in every Gametype of Competitive Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 1!
• Complete 5 matches in every Gametype of Co-operative Multiplayer and receive the Exclusive Beta Decal Pack 2!
• Complete 4 Treasure Sets and receive the Treasure Hunter’s Starter Pack!
• Rank up to level 25 in the Beta and receive a handsome reward of in-game cash on day one!

Starting tomorrow, Naughty Dog will update the beta with the Yemen map and co-op.

Yesterday, the firm also patched the game by releasing update 1.04, which fixes issues with the Facebook friends list, and an issues with gaining XP and cash during the playback of some Cinema files.

Uncharted 3 is out November 1 and 2 in the US and UK, respectively.

Now in its second week, the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception multiplayer beta has been updated with two new gameplay modes.

As of an unspecified time on Tuesday in the US, the beta will be thrown open to the public, Naughty Dog reminds us on its blog, which means you no longer need a PS Plus subscription or entry code to try it out. Head into the PS Store and await it with glee.

The client has been updated, too. New in 1.00.647 are two of the more unique game modes, Team Objective and Co-op Hunters. No word on fixes for the buggy invite system though! If only.

Naughty Dog has also added new content to Uncharted TV, the neat video roll you can browse through while waiting for matchmaking – although with more players, those wait times will hopefully go down.

You already read a mess of information about Uncharted 3′s upcoming multiplayer beta back before E3, but now developer Naughty Dog wants to show it off in a slurry of walkthrough videos (which we’ve dropped after the break). The studio also revealed a variety of details about the beta, breaking down which gametypes and maps will be paired across the beta’s three weeks — it’ll take up approximately 1.7GB of your precious HDD space.

Additionally, ND says that the beta will allow for stereoscopic 3D, as well as split-screen co-op (though not both simultaneously, of course). As the beta goes live tomorrow for PlayStation Plus subscribers (that’s still most of us!) and inFamous 2 owners, you may be wondering when you’ll be murdering Drake with … uh … other Drakes — unfortunately, the studio isn’t sure just yet, but suggests keeping an eye on the official Naughty Dog Twitter account for up-to-the-minute info. Studio head Evan Wells also notes on his Twitter feed that the beta “should be on PSN around 2PM PDT tomorrow.” He additionally points out that “Naughty Dog doesn’t control this,” making 2PM PDT somewhat tentative.

I am basing that description on the fact the trailer is emphasizing two things: the game’s nice lighting and the fact Drake returns to punch a lot of swarthy men in the chops.
