It fine dude now if it turns yellow thats the one to worry about.

It beeps, turns yellow for a half second and then turns to flashing red.

So the system is toast. Now if I pick up a new PS3 tomorrow can I just put my other hard drive in and go? I can't get into the broken one and do a system backup.

yea its messed up. I just got my repaired PS3 last week. Even if u put the hard drive in a new PS3, u can't get ur data back, I tried it already. Sorry man but u gotta start all ova like I had to do. This shit sux.

I didn't even call them, I just did everything online. I got PS3 back in about a week.

I don't think so, I read it says to ship only PS3, nothing more. But u could try talking to customer service.

If I am correct don't they send you a refurbished one that means they prob don't even look at your old one prob junks it for spare parts and then rebuilds a new one. I could be wrong in that case you prob won't get your game back. Socom??

Am I shit out of luck.. cuz 400 dollars is alot money, like... it would take me a year to be able to spend that on another ps3. Id be ready to walk up in sony with a pistol if they said.. well it worked for two years your shit out of luck.

You can get to the Disc you'll just have to unscrew lots of screws. I did it.

Maybe ask Sony if you have to put it back together.

I had crap of duty in it and told them they told me to send the case and they would get the game out I got the game back with it, make sure you tell them its in there.

yeah it's fast and east, I've done it 3 times, getting ready to do it again when I find the money, that's if I can't find a cheaper one on ebay first. Call them, let them know you have the game in the system, send the case and make sure you put your name on the game case. I went the extra step and stuck a post it note sticking out of the disc slot that there was a game of mine that needed to be removed and returned. You'll have it back in a week to 2 weeks max.

Shit...I had To send the Case When I sent my ps3 in if there was a disk insidE?!?! Thats gay...My call of Duty was lost forever when i send it in... :-[

One of my boys has this issue right now and his is on the way to Sony Monday morning. Merry Freakin Christmas eh. That intercooler isn't such a bad idea now is it?

 

I have trouble with mine locking up, but when I have the intercooler on it, it doesn't. Thing might actually work? But then again playing for 14 hours on a Saturday probably doesn't help either.

Ya thats one thing i have heard is make sure that it is not inclosed. I found out the hard way as i had to return mine after 2 months it over heated and i got the light of death the yellow. And that is why when i am done i always pull the game out.

On the return/repair form it had a space to fill out if there was a disc stuck inside. I had COD4 stuck inside so I filled it out and mentioned it to the guy on the phone and he made an additional note. When I got the PS3 back it had COD4 in a paper CD case and packed nicely. It all took about 10 days. They even sent me back a 60 gb just like mine. I got mine done for free out of warranty cause mine got the yellow light just after doing an update. I guess the software part is covered.
