  1. Welcome soldier, you are taking the first steps towards becoming one of the legendary 55′s. We shall point you the way but it is up to you to read, listen watch and learn. We are no ordinary clan I assure you and we have been rollin high across the world since 2007. We are very well known and respected throughout the gaming lands and this is down to the activity and conduct of our brothers and sisters at The 55′s. So first things first. If you want to join the 55′s you will have to first Sign Up to the site with your PSN as your username. Fill out our Application Form with the following information.http://www.the55s.com/ (1) Your PSN name. (2) Your age. (You must be at least 17 years old) (3) Where applicable Your COD4:MW rank, COD:WAW rank, COD:MW2 rank, COD:BO rank and your COD:MW3 rank.[You must NOT prestige if you decide to join our clan, you can be prestige when you put your app in and hold your prestige for 5 weeks to try us out, after the 5 weeks and you decide to stay you must use a token to restart or make a new account.] (4) Your country of origin. (5) How did you hear about us? (6) Do you have a mic? (7) Tell us abit about yourself and your interests. ( If someone invited you to join the clan, please state his/her name. Clan Policy Update June 1 2012 As you may or may not be aware we have been in discussion regards our "no-prestige .... ever" policy for some weeks now. This policy stated that no "prestige" on "any COD" to apply to be a 55. After guidance from the clan we have come to a compromise on the issue. We have modified the rule to allow a prospective recruit to go through the application process using their existing "prestiged" account (if prestiged) After the term for application is complete the applicant can chose either: 1) No thanks but I will stick with my prestige account and mince on. NOT JOINING 2) Can I get an extension, I need a little longer to decide. 3) Wow the last 5 weeks has been a blast. I want more. I wish to follow the path of redemption and strive forward as a member of the 55's Ultimately the applicant will still have to be non-prestige before recieving a blessing. But they will have had the oppurtunity to play alongside us with their existing account as they would at any other clan. The 55s is a PS3 Call of Duty clan for people who are NON-Prestige. Why ? well because we are above statistics. A 55 plays for the team not for himself. Statistics such as K/D bare no relevance here. We expect our soldiers to sacrifice themselves on the battlefield for the greater good of the clan. Our history and why we made this decision. http://www.the55s.co....php?f=2&t=3495 Our goal is to create a fun group of people that game together. We have practices a couple times weekly, and are a very active clan. We arrange matches from the casual friendly’s to the more serious clan battles/leagues and everything in-between, so whether you’re a hardcore gamer or a relative newcomer seeking to improve your game you should be right at home here.

  3. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2012/01/internet-wins-sopa-and-pipa-both-shelved.ars?comments=1#comments-bar Just hours after Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) announced he was delaying a vote on the PROTECT IP Act, Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), the sponsor of the Stop Online Piracy Act, followed suit and announced he would be delaying consideration of the companion legislation. “I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy," Smith said. "It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products." "The Committee will continue work with both copyright owners and Internet companies to develop proposals that combat online piracy and protect America’s intellectual property," Smith continued. "We welcome input from all organizations and individuals who have an honest difference of opinion about how best to address this widespread problem." (He may want to check out our thoughts on the matter.) Even former Senator Chris Dodd, the head of the Motion Picture Association of America, seemed to concede defeat. "With today’s announcement, we hope the dynamics of the conversation can change and become a sincere discussion about how best to protect the millions of American jobs affected by the theft of American intellectual property," he said in a statement. "It is incumbent that they now sincerely work with all of us to achieve a meaningful solution to this critically important goal." The ideas present in both SOPA and PIPA may return, but both bills in their present form—and with their present names—are probably done for good. A key figure in the fight against SOPA was Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA). Issa had planned to use his perch as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to highlight the flaws of SOPA's DNS blocking provisions. He was planning to hold a hearing featuring the testimony of actual technical experts, something that had been mysteriously missing from Smith's hearings on the bill. Wednesday's Internet protests were originally scheduled to coincide with the hearings. But Issa scrapped his hearing after receiving assurances that the DNS provisions would be dropped from SOPA. The broader protest went forward anyway. "Supporters of the Internet deserve credit for pressing advocates of SOPA and PIPA to back away from an effort to ram through controversial legislation," Issa said in a Friday statement. "Over the last two months, the intense popular effort to stop SOPA and PIPA has defeated an effort that once looked unstoppable." "Postponing the Senate vote on PIPA removes the imminent threat to the Internet, but it's not over yet," Issa continued. "Copyright infringement remains a serious problem and any solution must be targeted, effective, and consistent with how the Internet works."
  4. http://www.dailytech.com/600+Copies+of+MW3+Stolen+in+Delivery+Truck+Robbery/article23210.htm Over the weekend, a truck carrying a video game shipment in France, which was worth around 400,000 Euros, was robbed Piracy is usually an issue most publishers worry about before a big video game release. But they usually don't worry about this occurring in the form of a delivery truck heist. Until now. Over the weekend, a truck carrying a video game shipment in France, which was worth around 400,000 Euros, was robbed. The shipment reportedly contained 6,000 copies of "Modern Warfare 3." The delivery truck, which was traveling in Créteil, south Paris, collided with a car on Saturday. While stopping to handle the situation, two masked individuals appeared and used tear gas to distract the truck drivers. The individuals then stole the video game shipment that the truck contained. Activision, MW3 publisher outside of Japan, has gone back and forth lately about whether or not it would place a ban on those who played the new game online early. Initially, Stephen Tolouse, director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox Live, tweeted "dblchk'd with Activision. Mw3 pre-release play not authorised. So pls be patient. Playing early may impact your account!" Later, Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward creative strategist, tweeted that no ban would be placed on those that played online early. "No plans to ban legit fans, but try to wait til midnight launch on Tuesday to play #MW3," Bowling tweeted. "Can't wait to jump online with everyone then!" But with inevitable leaks and online gameplay via the reported heist, they may rethink the ban. However, the game is already expected to be released at midnight tonight. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" is an upcoming first-person shooter video game that is the third installment in the "Modern Warfare" series. It was developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software and Treyarch (for the Wii). MW3 will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS and Microsoft Windows as early as midnight on November 8. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the new MW release. Retailers are preparing special offers in hopes of snagging gamers that plan to pick up a copy. For instance, Best Buy is throwing in a free HTC smartphone with the purchase of MW3, and others like Amazon and Kmart are offering Xbox Live membership deals.
  5. Today, after being tested yesterday, Jeremy Mayfield and a couple crewmen from other teams were suspended indefinitely for violating the substance abuse policy. And when NASCAR says indefinitely they mean it. Just ask Kevin Grubb who shot himself this week after being suspended 3 years ago. As soon as a story is posted up I'll try and post it.

    How Army policy began

This is how Army policy all begins... Start with a cage containing five apes. In the cage, hang a banana on a string and put stairs under it. Before long, an ape will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the Banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the apes with cold water. After a while, another ape makes an attempt with the same result - all the apes are sprayed with cold water. Continue until, when another ape tries to climb the stairs, the other apes try to prevent it. Now, turn off the cold water. Now, remove one ape from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new ape sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his horror, all of the other apes attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted. Next, remove another of the original five apes and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm. Again, replace a third original ape with a new one. The new one makes it to the stairs and is attacked as well. Two of the four apes that beat him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs, or why they are participating in the beating of the newest ape. After replacing the fourth and fifth original apes, all the apes which have been sprayed with cold water have been replaced. Nevertheless, no ape ever again approaches the stairs. Why not? "Because that's the way it's always been around here." That's how Army policy begins...
