Is competitive gaming still alive and well?

Just trying to get a general consensus on competitive gaming..ala clan vs. clan tournaments and leagues.

 

With so many titles out there to choose from and the different consoles battling for gamer's attention is there still a large interest from clans around the interwebz? Is CoD still a heavy hitter among clans for doing battle?

Competitive shooters on the other hand, not so good. Well... except for CS:GO. I wouldn't really call anything else going on in the last few months in the competitive shooter communities, professional gaming, some of the CoD Community is trying to make due with Ghosts anyway. But it would probably be completely dead if it weren't for the CoD championships. I'd explain the back story and current attributing factors, but it's really starting to look and sound like some sort of soap opera, At least one CoD competitive community I know of is practically a ghost town and others have been affected in a negative way as well.

 

The good news is that there are going to be some competitive FPS titles coming out this year, but it doesn't look like Titanfall will be one of them, at least to begin with. Titanfall isn't coming out on PS either.

 

Then there's going to be another Halo title coming out, and it looks as though 343i is pretty serious about making the new title competitive. We'll have to wait to see how that turns out. Since its Halo, that won't be a PlayStation game either.

 

Then there's Destiny. It's been in the works for years and there is definitely going to be competitive play for that one. That will be coming out for PS and Xbox, but not for PC, which is something of a surprise.

 

So for competitive shooters things are looking up later in the year, but the choices between Xbox, PS, or PC is something you need to consider If you're planning on getting into Competitive gaming. And that depends on which type of game you want to play competitively Moba, RTS, FPS, Fighters or Sports. Good Luck.
