Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse has just been announced, and Evil Empire, the team developing this action adventure for the past four years, is having a nervous watch party.

“We were waiting because you never know when your trailer is about to appear,” says Marketing Director Bérenger Dupré. “Then we saw it and started freaking out. And the video’s chat moves so fast that you can’t read the reactions. Then we received a message from a fan showing a version of the ‘absolute cinema’ meme, and I was like, okay… we’re doing fine.”

Since that nerve-wracking reveal, Konami and Evil Empire have been hard at work to ensure Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse meets its October 15 launch on PS5. Which has also included offering some hands-on time to peer into the gothic depths that await.

In this coffin of treasures I discovered lots for Castlevania traditionalists to enjoy, combined with modern quality of life design choices, smooth combat, and an expansive magic and abilities system giving this entry in the series a fresh feel. In fact, this approach is symbolised by the entirely new character who fronts the game…

Meet Rose Belmont

Set after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, 1499 Paris is in ruin and on the brink of Dracula’s resurrection. The city’s only hope? Trevor Belmont and his daughter Rose, who are infiltrating the city after a suspicious letter from the Bishop. While Trevor seeks out the clergy, our protagonist Rose is left to explore the city itself, burning, ravaged, and rampant with the undead.

After a fun animated scene setter, Rose’s introduction blends both thoughtful aesthetic design and hints towards a character arc befitting of the Belmont family tree. She’s determined, but burdened with guilt over her mother’s death, a scar visually represented by her tarot deck and the fiery red curse creeping from her elbow to hand, both things which have greater significance as the game progresses.

Modern-yet-classic Castlevania

Belmont’s Curse feels exactly how a modern Castlevania game should feel, steering away from roguelite elements of permadeath or procedurally generated levels. “We really wanted to capture the essence of the series,” says Konami producer Tsutomu Taniguchi. “When we started discussing the game with Evil Empire, we said we’d like to go back to its core.”

From its massive map with destructible secret walls, to clearly visible areas which are inaccessible until you gain a certain skill (and the suitably gothic soundtrack of organs and synths) all the expected elements are here. There’s a familiar weight to how Rose controls, but it’s graced with an agile responsiveness that makes both combat and platforming feel intuitive.

During my playthrough, I was able to swiftly guide Rose with wall jumps, swing across instant death spikes, and mix it up with crafty skeletons, lumbering zombies, and cowardly bats, all of which can be damaged by the environmental hazards. And while there was no double jump available, not only were there noticeable level design clues that it would be introduced later, but my questions to the dev team about the ability were met with a wry grin.

Fast and fluid combat

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse also places strong emphasis on snappy combat, with versatile evades and combos. Rose’s dodge and slide on the Circle button gives you the ability to flip backwards with a double tap, while the Arcana Whip grapple on R2 can be chained into an instant attack or traversal swing. Mana – something you can recover by defeating enemies – is used for spells with the Triangle button, or healing via L1.

The weapons system is also substantial, with seven different types each with their own style and special moves. For example, the balanced longsword comes with a perk of extra damage when attacking immediately after a backdash. While the cestus gauntlets are shorter range but have faster combos, and increase in damage the more I hit enemies with them.

“We are very focused on combat, which was a great opportunity to add something new in this specific genre,” explains Evil Empire’s creative director Emmanuel Nouaille. “We want to get the right balance between the spirit of Castlevania and what we want to have to modernize.”

Unleash the power of Relics

Also making their return are Relics, which offer bonuses for combat and exploration. Rose can equip up to three, so you can tailor them to your individual playstyle. The main one I found was the Crypt Key which fully restored Rose’s health and mana whenever she opened a chest. Which was especially useful because:

This game packs a challenge

True to its roots, Belmont’s Curse doesn’t spare your feelings. Hasty mistakes are punished fast and hard, but I never felt like the game was unfair. The reliance on learning patterns, using your dodge’s invincibility frames, and mastering Rose’s attacks were essential to surviving, especially when it comes to the visually impressive boss fights.

Whether it was leaping over The Fallen’s Holy Cross or screen-reaching whip attack in the sewers, or dodging Joan of Arc’s flaming sword swipes, backstabs, and fireballs during an explosive rooftop battle, my first encounter with the game’s bosses were vicious and reflex testing, respecting repeated and patient play.

The cards are the key

The satisfaction of defeating the tricky bosses is also rewarded via the loot you earn from them. As well as occasional weapons – Joan’s Burnt Sword of Fierbois and its charge attack was a particular favourite – each boss gets merged into Rose’s tarot deck, turning them into Arcana which unlocks spells, skills, and special actions.

So that Holy Cross The Fallen repeatedly bludgeoned me with? Well, as a Castlevania mainstay it should be no surprise that it’s yours once you’ve ‘tamed’ him. While Joan’s Holy Light allowed me to traverse through previously solid Chaos Shards by holding down L2, an ability which also deflected enemy attacks if I timed my press perfectly.

Additionally, each Arcana has up to three Works of Mercy, a specific task to be completed like hitting an enemy five times with its spell, which then unlocks a Blessing to improve it. This comes with an unlockable bonus ‘Gift’ once you assign it – for example, the Cursed Flame’s fireball can be enhanced to become bigger and pack a heavier pushback.

Whip smart design decisions

While the nerves are still there for the development team, my playthrough so far captured what made the Castlevania series fun in the first place, without alienating modern day expectations. And it’s an excitement echoed by the people behind the eagerly anticipated action adventure. “We’re happy and overwhelmed with the great response,” says Tsutomu. “I feel a lot of pressure, because everyone is expecting a lot, but it’s a good feeling.”

You’ll be able to finally revisit Dracula in all his gothic glory when Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse arrives on PS5 on October 15 – just in time for Halloween.

For many, Aussie Rules sounds like a completely made-up sport – and that’s where our game comes in: we redefine the rules of Aussie Rules Football.

Welcome to Pro Jank Footy, launching August 12 on PlayStation 5.

 Play Video

I’m David Ashby, Creative Director for Pro Jank Footy, a love letter to Aussie Rules Footy, retro sports games of the 90s, and our cultural irreverence. Now, there have been many “Footy” games over the years, but there was never one that leaned into the high-energy arcade sensibility shared by titles such as NBA Jam or NHL ‘94. We leaned right into both the fun and absurdity of our sport and I’m excited to share more about it with the PlayStation Community.

The “jank”

Aussie Rules Footy is a high-scoring game, akin to basketball and hockey, which makes it fast by design, which allows us to implement a simple core mechanic whereby whenever a player scores a goal, the opponent gets to choose one of three random power-ups. This is how we put the jank in Pro Jank Footy.

There are over 150 power-ups in the game. These powers range from making your team better, making the opposition team worse, or changing the rules of the game. Not only does this allow players to bounce back, but it also allows players to change the game from retro sports into pure, unhinged, janky chaos. Personally, I suck at sports games. There’s nothing worse than just sitting there, taking an absolute belting. With our power system, you’re rewarded for losing. Tyler Roach, who co-created this game with me, is a genuinely dominant player (and to be fair, he did make the game). When we play each other, my only tactic is to concede a bunch of goals so I can get a decent power-up build to turn the tide (note: he still beats me most of the time).

There are simple power-ups that make your team faster or gigantic. There are brutal powers that reset the scores. There are even powers that add a third team to the game or turn all the players into seagulls (a very real fixture of Australian football, who hang around ovals to eat everyone’s food). One of my favourites turns one of your players into your dad’s beat-up sedan. There’s even a trophy you can pop if you ram it into a shopping trolley. There are also power-ups that are deliberately vague, such as Burnt DVD and Where’s the Remote? – figuring out what they do is part of the fun!

From a challenge to reality

The project started as a dare in 2024, when I was challenged to get into video games by Cam Rogers, an entertainment lawyer (who later came on board as producer), while at a fantasy football league BBQ. Cam made the argument that there aren’t a lot of funny video games being made, despite the appetite, and I should give it a go. It occurred to me pretty quickly that footy was the answer.

Like that fantasy draft, we had to put a team together. In addition to Tyler and Cam, there’s Broden Kelly, known for his work with Australian comedy collective Aunty Donna. He performs in-game commentary and completely understands the intent and humour, bringing a performance that is both sincere and comically absurd. Hyemin Yoo, a Korean artist based in Adelaide, animated all the amazing goal celebration cut scenes. Not only did she bring a voice of authenticity to the project, but her humour and distinct visual style really elevates the project to a whole other level.

Oscar Armstrong-Davies singlehandedly built the online functionality for the game, and Dario Russo composed all the music, including all the team songs.

Umbrella Entertainment, a film distributor looking to branch into games, is supporting us as well. Through them, we’ve even started rolling custom arcade cabinets into pubs around Australia to build a real tournament scene, created by Louie Roots, the cabs can run on car batteries so they can be played anywhere, and they even have AM radio transmitters so you can tune in your radio to the game audio for that true footy experience.

Get ready to have a ball

There are multiple game modes in Pro Jank Footy. You have the option to play the true “Pro Jank Footy” experience, with all the power-ups activated, or you can play the appropriately named “Normal Footy” which is, as the name suggests, normal Aussie Rules footy without power-ups. The game is designed to be a couch co-op experience, but you can play solo against bots, and you can play online too.

There’s also a single-player Season Mode, where you start the campaign with a random set of powers and fight your way through ten increasingly ridiculous teams – one team of giants, one made entirely of cars, one that’s just a single unstoppable player – to become Pro Jank World Champion. There’s also a Watch Mode where you can just watch the AI battle it out (which is surprisingly entertaining) and a Kick-to-Kick Mode, which is a throwback to the classic “Aussie Rules Footy” game. We’ve found that a lot of younger kids gravitate towards this game mode more than anything else.

Pro Jank Footy is both a love letter to arcade sports games from the ‘80s and ‘90s, and to a sport that is arguably Australia’s game, one that is worth sharing with the rest of the world for all its charm and absurdity. We can’t wait for the PlayStation community to share a slice of Australia when Pro Jank Footy comes to PS5 on August 12.

The team has been hard at work over the past 4+ years creating a game that brings life to Clive Barker’s unique style of horror and we’ve got the first look at an exclusive behind-the-scenes developer diary to share with you that covers what building this game has been like for us:

 Play Video

Hellraiser separates itself from other pieces of horror media by having villains, the Cenobites, who aren’t so easily viewed as being morally bad. As the Hell Priest (aka Pinhead) explains in the original Hellraiser movie, they are “Explorers in the further regions of experience. Demons to some, angels to others”. We like to think of them as monks – whether it comes to extreme pain or pleasure, they are interested in exploring sensations and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Your Hellraiser: Revival experience will come from the perspective of Aidan Lynch, our story’s protagonist. He first encounters the Cenobites after his girlfriend Sunny activates the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box with unknown power and purpose. The Cenobites appear and unceremoniously tear Sunny in half. At first this seems like some kind of fever dream to Aidan, but he quickly comes to learn that Sunny’s soul can still be saved and that the Cenobites are integral to accomplishing that goal.

While Cenobites exist as godlike explorers of experience from another realm, there are people in the real world who are seeking that same kind of enlightenment. This is where one of the groups of enemies that you’ll face in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival come in… the members of the Scarlet Church. Led by a charismatic figure named Marlowe, this cult is working to establish contact with the Cenobites and seeks to use the Genesis Configuration in order to create a debauched paradise for themselves.

But the cultists of the Scarlet Church aren’t the only people that will stand in Aidan’s way. There are people, maybe now better described as wretches, who once sought out greater experiences but were denied by Leviathan, the creator of the Cenobites and ruler of the otherworldly Labyrinth. We call these creatures, who are essentially Hell’s rejects, the Unworthy. They are drawn to the Genesis Configuration as a potential path to redemption, and will instinctively seek out Aidan in an effort to obtain it.

You’ll be able to fight back against the cultists of the Scarlet Church and the Unworthy by attacking while dual-wielding weapons (R2) and Genesis Configuration powers (L1). Aidan’s journey fighting against these groups will be full of pain, pleasure and everything in between. In a way, this mirrors our experience developing the game over the past few years. Some of us have even uncovered our own fears and phobias through the development process. I found out that I suffer from trypophobia, a condition where you feel sick from looking at clusters of holes or bumps!

Luckily, if you run into anything you find too disturbing or find yourself needing to make a quick escape away from a certain Cenobite, you can either turn your Flashlight off (R3) and hope the problem goes away… or make a quick 180 degree turn (Left Stick + L3) and run for your life!

If you’ve made it this far into the blog, congratulations! You might be exactly the type of person who will enjoy exploring that which Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival has to offer. But I’m not one to pass judgment – Leviathan is the ultimate decider. Will you be worthy? We’ll find out on October 8 when Hellraiser: Revival launches both digitally and on physical media.

Designed to take advantage of the latest PS5 Pro enhancements, the upgraded PSSR delivers sharper image quality, improved temporal stability, and smoother performance as you explore Endfield’s expansive sci-fi world.

Sharper character detail

With the upgraded PSSR enabled on PS5 Pro, character outfits and material textures appear noticeably sharper. Fine costume details, layered materials, and surface textures retain greater definition, allowing the game’s distinctive character designs to stand out with improved clarity throughout exploration, combat, and story scenes.

Greater clarity for Endfield’s stylized world

Arknights: Endfield’s stylized environments also benefit from the upgraded PSSR. Lush vegetation, sprawling industrial facilities, and the wildlife peacefully inhabiting natural environments all maintain stable, crisp detail, making exploration across the game’s diverse maps even more immersive.

Crisp and stable visuals during fast-paced gameplay

During fast-paced movement, the upgraded PSSR more effectively preserves image integrity and clarity while reducing visible instability. On PS5 Pro, the system can more consistently maintain higher frame rates at 4K resolution, delivering a gameplay experience that balances smoothness and visual quality.

“Integrating upgraded PSSR required very little engineering effort, while improving image clarity and temporal stability across a wide range of gameplay scenarios. It allows us to present the world of Arknights: Endfield with greater visual consistency, preserving the smooth exploration and combat experience while bringing the rich details of Talos-II to life.”

– David Gu, CTO, Hypergryph

Let’s take a closer look.

Introducing Kill Block

Deploy to the West Bridge Training Facility in Kill Block, a new dynamic combat space where sightlines, pathways, and cover objects shift between matches, forcing Operators to adapt in real time. Launching with both 3v3 Gunfight and the all new 10v10 Gunfight mode, Kill Block will offer over 500 possible configurations.

The building blocks

The West Bridge Training facility is an unrivaled example of military engineering, a self-contained compound featuring an array of concrete towers, electronics, motors, and pulley systems allowing regular reconfigurations of the map as various pieces, or “Slabs,” are moved around dictating the overall layout for the next deployment.

The core design for Kill Block is based on three modular sections, including two outer End Slabs attached to a Central Slab, that combine into new battlegrounds between matches and even after certain Gunfight rounds. Most of these sections are brand-new while others are inspired by iconic locations from the Modern Warfare series such as Crash, Storage Town, Shoot House, and others.

Each Slab is rectangular in shape, and when all three Slabs are connected a play space roughly the size of Shoot House from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) is created. To quicken your intake of the environment, look for section markers around the perimeter and spray-painted signs helping to orient your position in the map.

Learn the layout and adapt when it changes… or die trying.

Play it your way

No matter your playstyle, there’s room for it on Kill Block as the changing layout offers creative challenges with variations on vertical positioning, sightlines, flank routes, and more. For example, in one match you may be fighting within close-quarters trenches, while in the next you’re firing downrange across rooftops, or some mixture of the two. Luckily, with Modern Warfare 4’s refined and fluid movement mechanics, improved player agency, and tactical decision-making, there are countless ways to approach the field, no matter its form.

Shifting weather patterns

It’s not just the terrain that changes, but the weather, too. Some Slabs are fitted with military-grade weather simulation arrays outfitted with powerful fans to propel rainfall and snow flurries across the map. Weapons are additionally affected by the weather, with water and ice particles building up on the weapon until you swap armaments or reload.

Beyond Kill Block

Kill Block is just one part of the greater Multiplayer offering for Modern Warfare 4 at launch as players also deploy across 12 Core 6v6 maps that span the globe. Each location features a distinct visual identity and tactical flow, with two additional favorites arriving just after launch. At launch, players can expect a full suite of Core modes and Hardcore variants, as well as Party Modes. In addition to that, players can jump into large-scale battles across additional expansive maps, delivering intense combined-arms warfare.

Immersive features on PS5 and PS5 Pro

Modern Warfare 4 takes full advantage of the PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro through use of adaptive triggers, haptics, 3D audio, HDR, and 4K visuals. 120Hz HFR and VRR support ensure high fidelity play, while Remote Play support gives greater control over where you play and Low Energy Mode reduces overall power consumption.

On PS5 Pro, players will additionally benefit from upgraded PSSR support, increased graphics quality for 120Hz and 60Hz, and an unlocked framerate when VRR and 120Hz are enabled.

Pre-order Modern Warfare 4 on PlayStation 5 and gain Early Access to the Open Beta, Campaign Early Access, and more. MW4 launches on October 23.

Pre-registration for Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is now open worldwide on the App Store and Google Play. To celebrate, we’re launching a community rewards campaign, headlined by a reward we think Ratchet & Clank fans will especially love: the exclusive Clank Suit skin for Widget.

Since the game’s reveal a few months ago, we’ve been testing and refining the experience through regional soft launches in Canada, the Nordics, France, and Asia. After a successful testing phase shaped by player feedback, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is now gearing up for global launch, and pre-registration is the first step on that journey. We can’t wait for what’s coming next!

What is Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble?

Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter that brings the iconic franchise to mobile, developed by Oh Bibi in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games. Captain Qwark has created a revolutionary combat Simulation to find the next generation of Galactic Rangers. But, well… it’s Qwark. So once you step into the Arena, anything can happen.

Players choose from legendary heroes, master unique abilities, and unleash an arsenal of explosive weapons in real-time PvP arena battles, enhanced by dynamic PvE elements that add depth and variety to every match.

The hero lineup is something we’re especially proud of. With 12 Heroes available at launch, and more to come, each character brings a fresh new perspective to the Ratchet & Clank universe.

Players will discover brand-new characters never seen before in the series: legendary heroes from the past, each with their own story and personality. From robots, aliens to new Lombaxes, every hero has a unique playstyle, design, and exclusive cosmetics.

For Oh Bibi, it was a real privilege to collaborate directly with Insomniac Games on the design and backstories of the new Lombaxes, including insights from some of the original developers and designers behind the series’ most iconic titles. Bringing these characters to life inside the Simulation has been a true passion project for the creative team, and we can’t wait for players to meet them.

At launch, Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble features six distinct game modes, giving players plenty of ways to jump into the action. Squad up with friends in fast-paced team PvP battles, take on waves of enemies in PvE, or discover fresh twists to the license, including a battle royale-inspired mode and a football-inspired showdown where every goal comes with a little extra firepower (and yes, it’s football, not soccer!).

Whether you’re chasing competitive wins, looking for co-op chaos, or simply excited to experience the Ratchet & Clank universe in a brand-new way, there’s a Rumble for you. Every mode is built around the fast, inventive, over-the-top action that has always defined the series.

Respecting the legacy, reimagining the action

Staying true to the series has been at the heart of the project from day one. The signature humor, beloved characters, and gloriously inventive weaponry that have defined Ratchet & Clank for over two decades are all here, reimagined for fast-paced battles built specifically for mobile, with new characters and weapons to discover.

Music has also been a huge part of development. We drew inspiration from the music of the early games to capture that dynamic, nostalgic Ratchet & Clank tone we wanted for Ranger Rumble. One of the most rewarding moments for the team has been seeing longtime fans connect with that legacy and even ask us to release the soundtrack on streaming platforms. For the team, that kind of connection with longtime fans has been incredibly rewarding.

As longtime players and fans ourselves, we know how much this universe means to people. That’s why our ambition was never just to bring Ratchet & Clank to mobile, but to create a game that feels like it truly belongs in the series. Mobile brings a new way to jump into the action, but the goal has always been clear: deliver a polished, authentic experience that respects the franchise, its legacy, and the players who love it.

How the pre-registration rewards work

The rewards campaign is a true community effort. Every pre-registration counts toward global milestones, and each milestone reached will unlock new in-game rewards* for everyone. Players can earn Qredits, Reebos, and Raritanium to get a strong head start when the game launches.

And the campaign’s ultimate reward? The exclusive Clank Suit skin for Widget! If the final community milestone is reached, every player will be able to unlock it at global launch.

All rewards will be delivered to players when the game launches. So you know what to do, Ranger. Captain Qwark is counting on you!

Pre-register today, and get ready for the rumble

Head to www.rangerrumble.com to pre-register now on the App Store and Google Play, available worldwide.

Until launch, the team is hard at work polishing the game, expanding the experience, and preparing a few exciting surprises for players to discover. Some of what’s coming may already be hiding in the screenshots throughout this article…

We can’t wait to share more soon, and we look forward to seeing you in the Simulation at launch. Get ready, Ranger — the Rumble is just getting started!

*Rewards will be delivered to the in-game mailbox within 30 days of the official global launch for all players who have finished the tutorial.

For many players, this will be their very first venture into the world of Moss. For others, it’s a chance to return to a place that has stayed with them long after the credits rolled. Either way, we’re incredibly excited to finally share our handcrafted adventure, Moss: The Forgotten Relic with everyone.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic is a reimagined collection that brings Moss, Moss: Book II, and the Twilight Garden expansion together into one handcrafted fantasy adventure for PlayStation 5, without the requirement of a VR headset. We hope returning players enjoy seeing Quill’s world in a new light, and we can’t wait to welcome all of you who are just now meeting her.

We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by sharing our launch trailer, giving you a glimpse of the adventure, danger, and heart that define Quill’s journey.

When we first started working on Moss, we wanted to build a nostalgic fantasy adventure inspired by the classic stories and games we grew up with, all centered around one question we had never seen explored before:

What if the hero of the story could see you? What if they needed you?

That idea shaped every decision we made. Every environmental diorama was handcrafted to feel like a page from a living storybook. Every puzzle, encounter, and personal moment was designed to strengthen the bond between the player and our hero, Quill.

We wanted players to feel protective of Quill, but just as importantly, inspired by her determination.

Courage comes in the smallest forms

At the heart of our story is Quill, a tiny mouse with extraordinary courage who dreams of greatness beyond the safety of her forest settlement. Clever yet untested, she is always eager to prove she’s capable of something greater. It’s hard not to root for her from the moment you meet her.

Her life changes when she discovers a long-lost Green Glass relic, awakening an ancient bond with a mysterious spirit companion: you.

That single discovery sets in motion an adventure far greater than she ever imagined. Together, you embark on an adventure in the world of Moss. And spoilers: it’s not a simple walk in the woods.

Ancient ruins tower overhead. Forgotten kingdoms have fallen into decay. Creatures many times Quill’s size lurk around every corner, and danger is never far away. Every obstacle is a reminder that the hero’s journey is not an easy one, no matter the size.

She may be one of the smallest heroes you’ll ever meet, but she never stops believing there’s a way forward. It’s hard not to root for her, help her, and protect her every step of the way.

A hero that sees you

In our game, you aren’t simply controlling Quill from afar. You become the “Reader”, a mysterious presence within the world itself who acts as Quill’s watchful and most trusted guardian.

She sees you, and she knows you’re there.

Throughout your adventure with Quill, she looks to you for reassurance, celebrates victories with you, asks for help, and trusts you when the path ahead seems uncertain. She acknowledges your presence, making the relationship feel remarkably personal.

That partnership extends beyond the story into the gameplay itself. As the Reader, you help shape the world around her by moving obstacles, clearing paths and confronting looming threats to aid and protect Quill on every step of her journey. In return, Quill looks to you for reassurance, celebrates victories alongside you, and occasionally even reaches out for a high-five!

We’ve always described this relationship as “Twofold”: two heroes sharing one adventure together. It’s a special connection that sits at the emotional core and game design of Moss, and something we are very excited to share with a whole new audience on PlayStation 5.

Reimagining Moss for PlayStation 5

With Moss: The Forgotten Relic we knew we wanted to preserve the intimacy, emotion, and sense of connection that have defined Moss, while delivering what we believe is the most refined and cinematic presentation of Quill’s story to date.

Moss: A Forgotten Relic features enhanced visuals, modernized presentation, and newly crafted cinematic camera systems designed to bring players even closer to the emotion, scale, and atmosphere of this world. Every encounter, puzzle, and environment was carefully revisited so the adventure feels completely at home on PlayStation 5.

Moss: The Forgotten Relic launches July 16 on PlayStation 5, and can be added to your wishlist now.

Too far out? Don’t worry, we’ve got the perfect tonic of 19 titles that are a bit closer to home, giving you plenty of excuses to get a PS5 now in readiness for the gaming experiences to come.

Halo: Campaign Evolved – July 28

There are a handful of sci-fi classics in gaming, and it’s hard to dispute Halo’s claim among them. Making its PlayStation debut with style, Halo: Campaign Evolved is the ideal introduction to iconic super soldier Master Chief. This Combat Evolved remake comes locked and loaded with upgraded presentation, extra and redesigned missions, and a flood of changes to bring in some of the series’ more popular elements, covering lore, movement, and additional weapons. Not to mention the four-player online co-op, two-player couch co-op, and more.

Beast of Reincarnation – August 4

Personally speaking, there aren’t enough games out there which blend traditional mythology with science fiction, so it’s refreshing to see Game Freak do exactly that with its impressive looking action RPG. Set in the plagued post-apocalyptic ruins of Japan during 4026, blighted outcast Emma and somewhat disturbing canine Koo are humanity’s remaining hope. Seeking out the source of the corruption – the titular Beast of Reincarnation – means exploring a world of mystery, and combining Emma and Koo’s abilities in an intriguing mixture of real time sword-wielding combat and turn-based style commands to unleash the beautiful but blighted pooch.

Big Walk – August 4

It shouldn’t be any surprise that the developer behind Untitled Goose Game has followed it up with a title as wonderfully weird looking as Big Walk. Challenging players to travel through an open world environment might sound a little odd, but when it requires co-op teamwork and communicating via singing, codes, and gesturing by using L2 and R2 to move the characters arms, the charm instantly becomes clear. Up to 12 players can take part in this rather unique puzzle driven, multiplayer only adventure. The game will also be available as part of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup at launch.

MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls – August 6

 Play Video

Flashy fast-paced fighting, iconic comic book characters, and a vibrant anime-inspired art style? As combos go, Arc System Works’ spectacular tag-based fighter already has the moves to satisfy both fans of the genre and Marvel buffs.

Each of the 20 playable base heroes and villains – ranging from Black Panther and Doctor Doom, to Spider-Man and Carnage – possess unique abilities that makes each of the 4v4 fights an impressive spectacle, for up to 64 players in its online lobby. And don’t worry if you’re new to this type of action, as MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls promises both an intuitive tutorial, a single-player mode that helps you learn more about the mechanics, and the option to make inputs and chain combos easier.

Metal Gear Solid: Collection Master Vol. 2 – August 27

Snake? You bet. Continuing its essential compilation of the legendary stealth series, Konami’s second package brings together Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. A fine assortment of slick Snake action, which sneakily packs in a selection of extras and bonuses, including a master book detailing the games’ story and characters, and the ability to receive in-game items if you have any save data stored from Metal Gear Solid: Collection Master Vol. 1.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy – August 27

 Play Video

A Plague Tale’s intense mixture of action adventure, stealth, and history takes a slightly different route in this third instalment, set 15 years before Requiem. This time developer Asobo Studio puts you in the hands of capable plunderer Sophia in a tale touching on the mythological, as she attempts to survive the deadly traps, puzzles and beasts of Minotaur Island, all while a brutal army gives chase.

 Play Video

Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment flipped on the hyperdrive to bring us back to the Clone Wars era for this turn-based tactics title, which means you better get ready for more mercenaries, misfits, and astromechs. This gritty sci-fi strategy features an original tale where you can deploy a team selected from a variety of archetypes, including Jedi and blaster wielding scoundrels, and put them on the battlefield in the valiant mission to keep the galaxy safe. Your deployed troops can also form bonds which unlock devastating combat synergies that might be able to force any issue…

Rebel Wolves’ dark fantasy action RPG has been turning heads since its unveiling. But even with the revelation of its expansive choice and consequence system, bloody swords and magic combat, and richly populated 14th-century kingdom of Vale Sangora, there’s still clearly more hiding within its shadowy corners. Vampires both literal and metaphorical bleed against this tale of morals and family, as you’ve given just 30 days to save the family of Coen, who is also dealing with a mysterious variant of the bloodsucking curse.

 Play Video

Capcom’s sword-swinging, soul-stealing, supernatural epic is back. Set in the early Edo period of Kyoto, as lone samurai Musashi you’re tasked with slicing through human enemies and the demonic Genma, using powerful sword stances and extraordinary abilities granted by the legendary Oni Gauntlet. A staggering variety of attacks, parries, and combos are a big feature, but the ability to use the environment during combat to fight dirty is a particularly fun addition.

Marvel’s Wolverine – September 15

 Play Video

Insomniac Games knows how to make hard-hitting comic book action adventures, so it should be no surprise that one of the most anticipated titles of this year features everyone’s favourite razor-clawed Canadian. This all-new story has Wolverine slicing and dicing his way across the globe to help free his fellow mutants, teaming up with some familiar faces, including Jean Grey, Sabretooth, and Mystique. Brutal combat, unforgettable set pieces and a healing factor that just won’t quit? Sounds about right, bub.

Stepping away from the third-person shooter genre of its forbearer, this follow up to Remedy’s popular sci-fi thriller takes its cues from action RPGs. Former Federal Bureau of Control captive Dylan Faden desperately needs to find his sister – and FBC Director – Jesse in order to truly find himself. Wielding his shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant, to fashion everything from blades to a colossal hammer, Dylan’s quest to help save Manhattan from paranatural annihilation means unnerving enemies, physics defying exploration, and cosmic horror are all certainties.

Did someone say “unnerving enemies?” A return to Silent Hill is all that and more, as Simon Ordell’s 1996 trek through the Scottish island of St. Amelia throws you into an intimately first-person horror story of loss and consequences. Sure, you have a selection of melee weapons and firearms, but stealth, distractions, and puzzle solving are the only true ways to survive the psychological terrors that await.

Reimagining the fan-favourite action platformer Rayman Legends is a big undertaking, but Ubisoft clearly relishes the challenge with its vibrant 3D visuals, fully voiced cinematics, gameplay tweaks, and additional levels. Fancy bouncing through the Glade of Dreams with up to three of your couch co-op friends? What about a few rounds of the revised football inspired and revamped mini-game Kung Foot?

Combat flight sims don’t come much more loaded than Bandai Namco’s long-running series. Deadly dogfights partner with first-person cinematic sequences to play out a story which can change based on your actions across the skies. The introduction of an online lobby also signals the largest multiplayer mode of the series to date, with co-op missions, cross-platform play, and up to eight players for competitive combat.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer – October 6

 Play Video

The Star Wars title that took everyone by surprise when it was first unveiled, Galactic Racer has since only gained even more momentum since. Although set in the post Return of the Jedi ‘New Republic’ era, the story driven racing game features characters and customizable vehicles spanning as far back as the prequels, set across planetary favourites such as Jakku and Tatooine. And you can also go for a star lit spin in an online multiplayer mode for up to 12 players, too.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse – October 15

When malevolent forces threaten eternal darkness, House Belmont answers with a wild whip of retribution. This collaboration between Evil Empire, Motion Twin, and Konami blends the smooth action of Dead Cells with the ever-expansive lore and style of Castlevania for a classic side-scrolling adventure full of traps, secrets, and monstrous foes. Set in a besieged medieval Paris and taking place two decades after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and the recent animated series, expect plenty of crafty platforming, spectacular combat, and the constantly surprising level design we all love the series for.

The iconic shooter slides a new era into its crosshairs, with its campaign mode set across the Korean Peninsula in a war between North and South Korea. The story’s emotional firefight is flanked by an expansive multiplayer mode of 12 new 6v6 maps, both large and close-quarters – but the new Kill Block map is sure to get the blood pumping, with its constantly changing layouts. Let’s not forget DMZ, where up to 20 squads of up to three players get to duke it out in a living sandbox environment.

Folk horror, fantasy, and wuxia combine for a flashy action RPG featuring fast-paced combat in a dark semi-open world. The fusion of machinery and martial arts inspired by the Golden Age of Hong Kong action films fashions what the developer calls Kungfupunk, as you take an assassin named Soul, who only has 66 days left to live, on a rampaging quest of revenge. Look for a dedicated State of Play coming later this summer.

You might have heard of this one. Rockstar Games’ open-world juggernaut is nearly here. We can’t wait to see what awaits Jason and Lucia on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America when the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet arrives on November 19.

You probably have even more games which are knocking on the door to be played on your PS5 in the coming months – why not tell us what you’re looking forward to enjoying later this year?

The project was born from Museful, a Game Jam prototype that served to confirm that tridimensional movement was possible without visual guiding.

The team took inspiration from several sources. They analyzed games designed to be played blindly like The Vale or A Blind Legend to understand what worked, and what kind of visual aids they wanted to avoid in order to maintain the purity of a true sightless experience. For the narrative and world building, they took great inspiration from titles such as Life is Strange, embracing a musical indie tone with slice of life themes and a big focus on the inner conflict of the main character.

Audio-focused gameplay design

Coloratura is a single-player narrative adventure where you play as Alex, a talented musician who has lost her sight due to an accident. Far from limiting movement, this game breaks the limits of traditional accessibility designs: the player has total freedom in a 3D environment without cardinal boundaries, being able to rotate the camera and freely explore the scene.

To ensure the player’s ability to navigate the levels intuitively and comfortably, the team designed some innovative audio mechanics:

Radar and memory systems: Alex can concentrate to feel elements at different distances. The game uses a “memory” system to assign a positional sound to objects such as a table or a coffee machine once they are discovered. This allows the player to create a mind map of the space.

The objective “button”: To avoid the player feeling lost, the team implemented a bell sound to indicate the direction they have to follow. This was an effort to translate the classic visual objective tracking from games to a guide that was purely based on sound.

Musical puzzles: The goal is to locate sound sources that become puzzles. Once resolved, the player can build up melodies and form the final game soundtrack, mirroring Alex’s life stages.

Art direction and world building

In Coloratura the sound design is a main part of the visual design in a way. The world is built through a rich sound landscape that embraces the player and allows them to triangulate their position at any point. The musical identity, designed by José Ramón “Bibiki” García, is very well defined – acoustic guitar riffs are used to represent Alex’s personality and conscious state, while piano sounds evoque more introspective and dreamy moments.

The 3D environment was also created with a focus on fluidity. They eliminated strict collisions and designed scenes with broad walls to allow the player to move around without dealing with the frustration of getting stuck against an invisible object. On top of all that, there was a comprehensive dubbing work that included professional actors capable of transmitting deep emotions with almost an ASMR vibe. This allowed the voice acting to hit the right spot without feeling overwhelming.

Challenges during development

The main challenge the team faced was “unlearning” how to create video games. Traditional game design rules and processes, originally created for visual games, didn’t really work for Coloratura. On a technical level, the team faced challenges such as adjusting positional sound to clearly indicate when an object was at the player’s back. This prevented users from turning around and walking sideways (or, as the team says, walking like a crab) in fear of getting disoriented.

To overcome these challenges, the team relied on constant iteration and playtesting. They also worked closely with blind players throughout development, whose feedback was vital to the project. One of those collaborators was Sergio Vera, who is blind. Sergio not only helped validate and refine the game’s spatial movement, but also shared personal experiences that informed Coloratura’s story and helped make its portrayal of blindness feel authentic. The goal wasn’t to create a game solely for blind players, but an accessible experience that people both with and without visual impairments could enjoy on equal terms.

The experience on PlayStation

Nowadays the industry and platforms like PlayStation are making a strong bet in inclusion and accessibility, with initiatives like the Access controller. Coloratura arrives in this context with a pioneering project, showcasing the full potential of PlayStation 5’s sophisticated 3D audio and providing the players with a level of technical immersion that few narrative games achieve.

The game includes a mode with a supporting interface made of sketched illustrations and text for people with dyslexia or other needs, but the true magic is in its inclusive gameplay. Coloratura invites PlayStation players to put on their headphones, blindfold themselves or play in total darkness, and lose themselves in the experience. As the team at Nakama Studios points out, there are no graphics more powerful than those drawn by our own imagination when the outside world fades away and only sound remains.

Enjoy Coloratura when it launches on PS5 later this year.

It was never a grand world to begin with, tied as you all were to your farm in the tiny village of Laslea, but with the arrival of the plague, your sister’s illness, and then the vampires, it has shrunk even further.

When you wake up, it’s the day of the Blood Mass for Laslea. Tonight, the vampires, the vrakhiri, will arrive to collect the oblation of their livestock. Every adult in the village must attend and give of their blood to sustain their rulers, Brencis and his clique. It is known. It is normal. Shockingly, it’s becoming more normal every day as the hope of change or salvation withers among the people of Vale Sangora.

Not everyone is cut out for this new normal. Your mother is barely able to hold herself upright under the weight of her fear. Your father, pulled in two directions by his family and his past, has become grim and hard. Your siblings are struggling to understand everything happening around them. And you, Coen, a young man in your prime, are stuck staring down a long future of being bled every fortnight, little hope for anything other than the life of cattle.

Is it any wonder some say it’s the end of the world?

And yet, the daily concerns of life must go on. Your mother is in no condition to attend the Blood Mass tonight and if she is not present, your family and maybe the entire village will suffer. The gates are guarded by Knyaz Brencis’s men – no one will be permitted to leave until the offering is extracted. Between dawn and sunset, the day is divided into 8 parts. You must use that time to find a solution.

So, you wander the sunny dirt paths of Laslea. Somehow, in spite of the clamp of the vrakhiri around your neck, even in this tiny village, the possibilities are endless. You could decide to go directly to Anca, the local herbalist, and ask for medicine for your mother and wind up spending most of the day reading Latin, soaking up every moment you can in her presence.

You could punch one of the Uriash, gigantic ram-like warriors occupying the village at Brencis’ command in an attempt to burst the boils of rage festering in your heart. You could go looking for an escaped pig or a lost neighbor, you could save the weaver by searching for a stolen tapestry commissioned by the vrakhiri, you could beat an upstart boy for insulting you, you could even uncover the start of a revolution against the vampires… but you may not be able to do it all.

You see, as long as you are wandering, watching, listening, never intervening, the sun will stay high in the sky. The Blood Mass will not arrive. The day will never turn to night.

To move time forward, you will have to choose. So you wander. You speak to an old woman weeping by an unearthed grave. You confront the man who lurks by the river. You ask your sister about the dark dreams that jolt you awake at night. You practice your sword skills on the animals in the woods. And, in your own time, you choose how your day unfolds.

Yet it is quickly made clear to you that some choices are out of your hands. There is no combination of actions and words at Coen’s disposal that can stop the Blood Mass once the sun sets. Some events have their own tides that cannot be resisted. Everyone has their own free will and no matter how earnestly you try, you can’t control the power of grief, of fear, of revenge.

The Blood Mass goes poorly. Decisions are made by you and your family that cannot be taken back, and deep in the night, you wake up in the bowels of Laslea’s silver mine with a strange new hunger. You are no longer fully human.

The wrath of the vrakhiri at the defiance of Laslea has chosen you as its scion.

Brencis picked you to turn into one of his own, a familiar face to destroy your friends and neighbors as one more twist of the knife. The surviving villagers, including your father, mother, and siblings, will be made a sacrifice to his coronation in 30 days. Your family has been crammed into the darkness of a cell, your existence squeezed down into the palm of Brencis’ hand.

And yet. As the village burns, as the sun rises, you are given a new choice. All is not lost. The light of the sun does not burn you, sear your flesh. Not even the vrakhiri could control this. In that moment, the world opens up, the shackles fall away. For you now have all the power and ferocity of a vampire, but all the feelings and connections of a human. You have something denied to you for so long: the ability to choose.

As you step out of the remains of your home, your village, the whole of Vale Sangora lays before you. There is a sword at your side. Your arm still aches from the magic runes Anca carved into your skin. The taste of copper lingers in the back of your throat.

You realize that, with enough blood and rage, you could rip this valley from the vrakhiri’s claws and feast upon its riches yourself. You could join the revolution, save your family and dispose of the vrakhiri. You could wash your hands of the entire affair and pursue whatever pleasures the next moment offers you.

You are a unique thing, Dawnwalker, and no one will ever write a future quite like yours. A new day is beginning; how will you spend it?

The Blood of Dawnwalker rises on PlayStation 5 this September 3, 2026.

How does it work? At the end of every month, PlayStation Blog will open a poll where you can vote for the best new game released that month. After the polls close we will tally your votes, and announce the winner on our social channels and PlayStation.Blog.

What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? Note: re-released games don’t qualify, but remakes do. We define remakes as ambitious, larger-scale rebuilds such as Resident Evil 4 (2023) and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

How are nominees decided? The PlayStation Blog editorial team will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll.

Dune: Awakening is an open world survival game set on the most legendary planet in the universe: Arrakis. Rise from survival to greatness, as you explore, build, craft, and unravel a cinematic Dune story that asks the mind-bending question: what if Paul Atreides was never born?

Dune: Awakening has been available on PC since last year, and during that time we’ve added a ton of content and enhanced core gameplay systems. The game is better than ever, and with its debut on PlayStation 5, we’re adding even more including a full single-player mode.

PlayStation gamers will be treated to the best version of Dune: Awakening yet. All the enhancements and additions that we’ve been working on for the past year will be on PlayStation day one.

We’ve put together a Developer Deep Dive video exploring what’s coming in the PlayStation 5 version of the game. Check it out:

Optimized for PlayStation 5

The team has spent a lot of time and effort making sure the experience on PlayStation 5 is the best it can be. UI and controls have been tailored to the console experience, and we’ve put a lot of focus on making sure the game is highly optimized for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro.

On the base PlayStation 5, Performance Mode will run at 60fps with frame-gen. On PlayStation 5 Pro, Performance Mode runs at 60fps without frame-gen. Quality Mode will run at 30fps on both systems. The game runs in upscaled 4K on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, in both Performance and Quality Mode. We’ll provide more specific technical details as we get closer to launch, including an overview of native resolutions.

Survival games generally have a reputation for being complex and challenging to learn. With Dune: Awakening, our design philosophy from day one has been to make it a more accessible survival experience.

Not less challenging, but less challenging to learn. We’ve implemented systems that teach you the game and ease you into its core elements, and there is also a strong narrative thread that guides you through the journey from survivalist to hero instead of just dropping you in the middle of a literal sandbox.

To put it like this: if you’re skeptical about survival games, Dune: Awakening is a great portal for you into the genre!

Single-player mode: a game changer

The biggest new addition PlayStation 5 gamers can look forward to is the single-player mode. Right now, on PC, the game is exclusively multiplayer and single-player mode is by far one of the top-requested features.

Making an inherently multiplayer game work in full single-player has not been an easy task. The team has spent months making sure the experience translates well. It’s not just removing multiplayer functionality; every aspect of the game needs to make sense in a single-player format.

For example, in multiplayer, the endgame in Dune: Awakening is built around players competing over specific objectives to make sure their faction – House Atreides or House Harkonnen – gains control over the Landsraad. Controlling the Landsraad gives them the ability to make decisions that can impact gameplay for everyone across the server. In single-player, instead of removing or downscaling this part of the game, we’re instead simulating other players competing for these objectives, making sure it’s still a compelling and engrossing part of the experience.

We’re also introducing a wide range of gameplay customization options, allowing you to scale the difficulty to your liking. Want to harvest resources faster or even disable the sandworm? That’s your choice. You can also customize all these options if you choose to rent a private server for you and your friends.

The new single-player mode allows you to play the game the way you want to, at your own pace.

Available in digital and physical format

We’re also excited to share that we’ll be releasing a physical edition of Dune: Awakening. We’re teaming up with Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe who will put the game on shelves in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, and with Solutions 2 GO for North and South America. It will also be released in retail in Japan, with a publisher to be announced later.

In Japan, the game is expected to release in October, with pre-orders commencing soon.

With the third installment in Denis Villeneuve’s and Legendary Entertainment’s epic Dune franchise coming to theatres in December, the physical edition can be a great holiday gift for Dune fans around the globe.

Can you survive on Arrakis?

Arrakis is a test that few will survive, and Dune: Awakening represents the ultimate survival fantasy. On September 22 it’s time to prove whether you can survive the most dangerous planet in the universe.

Dune: Awakening can be wishlisted and pre-ordered today.

PlayStation Store on PS3 will close in select markets starting this year, followed by global closures for PS3 and PS Vita next year. That means new content purchases will no longer be possible once the PlayStation Store closes on these devices. To ease the transition, players will still be able to download previously purchased content after the closing date for the foreseeable future.

As the PlayStation Store continues to evolve to support modern commerce systems, including updated payment processing standards, PS3 and PS Vita are no longer able to support these updates at the level required. As a result, we will need to close PlayStation Store on these devices in the timeframes as follows:

Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua – PlayStation Store on PS3 will close starting August 2026.

Additional Latin American and Middle Eastern countries – PlayStation Store on PS3 will close starting late 2026.

In all other countries, PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita will close in July 2027.

We know this news may be disappointing to PS3 and PS Vita players who hold a special place in their hearts for this generation of gaming. PS3 and PS Vita represent an important era in our PlayStation history, so this was not an easy decision for us to make.

As we continue to expand the PlayStation experience on newer devices that most of our users are playing on today, we need to focus more resources on delivering the best gaming experiences on these platforms as we look ahead towards the future.

To our amazing players, we want to give our heartfelt thanks for your ongoing passion and support, which has helped inspire us to shape PlayStation into what it is today. We are excited for the future ahead as we continue to push the boundaries of play. We look forward to having you on this journey with us as we explore new game worlds and new adventures that have yet to come.

Following this date, new games will be available on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only. This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format.

This is a natural direction for Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs. This transition will enable us to align more closely with how most of our community prefers to access and play games today.

We’ll continue to prioritize our resources to drive innovation in how players can access games and provide choices as to where players prefer to purchase new games, whether that’s at retailers or PlayStation Store. We remain committed to delivering a world-class gaming experience to our fans and we thank you for your continued support.
