[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 So I hate Apple I-anything. I can't stand when a company tries to force you to their product, and instill corporate loyalty by giving you no options. So I patiently waited for Sprint to come out with an Android phone to rival the I-phone. Sure other carriers were already touting 'androids' but I knew Sprint would give up the farm to get a piece of the action. Now my next issue is I LOVE Samsung phones. If I would have waited till Nov. 1st Samsung was releasing their new Moment, but after comparing the two, I decided to get the Hero. So far, I haven't been disappointed. I love that they give you a continuous screen that is basically like 6 home screens in 1....just swipe it left or right and you have another page for favorites and apps. The apps are comparable to the Iphones, and most are surprisingly (to me anyhow) FREE! Porn costs....lol. I also like the Hero because you get to set up different profiles? Its basically a deal where I can add all the work related apps (Ya know, facebook, twitter, games...lol) on one, then your music, Pandora, etc. on a fun profile. It lets me keep 100s of apps sorted and at my finger tips. I love it! Anyhow, I did this mainly for you Sprint guys out there that are stuck with your Pre, or Instinct, go get this! I love it. Quote
hannibal Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I have the pre and I like it but I have a problem and that is wanting the best of everything lol. So is it really that good? Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted October 14, 2009 Author Report Posted October 14, 2009 Hannibal. ]I have the pre and I like it but I have a problem and that is wanting the best of everything lol. So is it really that good? I came from the Instinct...I loved my Instinct. I did this mainly for the apps and the google support. As far as the web browser, it blows all the ones before away. I love the new browser, and the touch screen is a different style ( IDK what the difference's are, but the techy's are in love with this screen) and it has double touch. It also does the flippy thing when you turn it sideways, unlike my Instinct that had a button I had to press. The QWERTY keyboard is great, it has the guess text, but it gives you a full 6 options for each word, and learning new words is sooo easy. The reason I was going to hold out for the Samsung Moment is: 1) QWERTY and a flip down(side like the rumor) full button keyboard 2) Its a Samsung and I love their phones. I decided to get this one since I can return it and trade it in on the Moment IF I decide I like it better, but I've never used a full keyboard on a phone, and it makes the Samsung MUCH more bulky. They both offer the Android software, but this one has a 5 megapixel camera, and the Moment will have a 3.2...... SO far, I love it bro. Oh, and Im the same way....gotta have the best. Quote
Playerdown Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 I might have to look into this. I was looking at the pre also. I just had to replace my instinct for the second time because the touch screen went out again. They say it's a common problem with the original instincts. I told them next time i'm throwing it through their window. Quote
Directors shane Posted October 15, 2009 Directors Report Directors Posted October 15, 2009 It is an HTC this, I have had the same issue iwth my HTC Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted October 15, 2009 Author Report Posted October 15, 2009 Shane ]It is an HTC this, I have had the same issue iwth my HTC I have had no issues with my Instinct screen. This is some different screen tho on the Hero, and the techie's were all excited about it... ??? Here's the specifications: http://www.htc.com/www/product/hero/specification.html So far the only issue I see is that when making phone calls, sometimes I dial the last number after I hang up...I think it's prolly me not paying attention, but it's happened 2X. The email capabilties blow away the Instinct...while not as instinctual as the instinct( ) it links up with your computer and can swap contact info between the two as well as support up to 6 email accounts ( at least thats how many I have set up so far ) with Yahoo causing the most trouble for set up purposes. I found a work around tho. Battery life so far is fair...not great. Im spoiled, as the instinct had two batteries, but it comes with a USB charger so I just plugged it in to the front of the PS3 while playing and it charged right up. BTW, for .99 you can DL porn apps PD. Most of the apps are exactly the same as I-phones, so if you seen one that impressed you, you can get it here too. Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted October 15, 2009 Author Report Posted October 15, 2009 OK Hanni, another AWESOME feature I discovered today: When you have your contacts, and view them, there is a bunch of buttons under their name. On the far right, their is what looks like a picture. When you select that, it allows you to attach their facebook profile and flikr profiles. All you have to do is select their facebook name (it even suggests the closest matches) and it updates their profile photo to your phone. It also lets you peruse all their uploaded pictures right there in your contacts. THAT is awesome. Quote

[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 Hey, if it aint the apple, it's golden. Neat how they make software that works between networks eh..that GOOGLE and their Zanny idear's!! Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted October 16, 2009 Report Staff Posted October 16, 2009 I love that phone Audacious. I didn't go with it for two reasons. It was more expensive than all the Crackberry's. It's built on the Voyagers platform, and I went through three voyagers. I really do want an Android, but there isn't one available here. :'( I'm going to go take my frustrations out on one of Puddy's sheep. :-X Quote
hannibal Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Tool you need to get me some good apps Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 Hannibal. ]Tool you need to get me some good apps I still haven't looked thru a 3rd of em! Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted May 27, 2010 Author Report Posted May 27, 2010 Found this site for us 'droid' users.....lists some kickass apps that I wasn't using: http://gizmodo.com/tag/androidappsdirectory/?p=1 A tip: DL a bar code scanner before using the site. They list the bar codes on each of them, so you can just scan them directly into your phone. Quote
Nemesis Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I've also got the enV Touch, but I'm getting this one next: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5269 Quote
Marlne Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I've also got the enV Touch, but I'm getting this one next: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5269 I tried the droid incredible and the Moto Droid, and I went with the Moto Droid. However LGs new Ally coming out for verizon soon looks sweet! Quote
Red0ctobeR Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Will the apps for the droid work for the Touch pro 2. I am failry certain they are the same phone, but mine is with US Cellular. BTW I love this phone. Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 What OS is it? Android 2.1? If you have the Market, you have the access to the apps. Quote
Chili327 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 I have the HERO also & love it.. if you have Verizon they have almost the exact model, it's called the "Eris" THAT is the one to get if you are on Verizon.!! They both are the best phones out there. imo (especially if you're not hanging on iNuts. lol) I got my Hero for $99 & i pay $59 a month for unlimited EVERYTHING (except calls to land lines, i only have 400 min) Sprint is bending over backwards to get back into the game.. so if you have the opportunity, get it.!! Quote
[-VR-] Tool_Minion Posted June 2, 2010 Author Report Posted June 2, 2010 Banding over backwards? Anyhow, The Hero is cool, but I didn't like the touch keyboard.....hence me getting the Moment with the slide out full keyboard. Quote
Chili327 Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Sorry im not used to bending over.. like you sexy. You blew it in my opinion.. the Moment is too bulky, & you get used to the touch keyboard. Although I hear it is VERY similar. Quote
Rage75 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 Tool, isn't there a new android coming out tomorrow for sprint? I'm in the same boat you were and have the instinct but miss the aps. And I hate the instincts browser. So I'm looking to make the jump to the android. Quote
