do i smell another fued over money could it be a TO vs Eagles Round 2?

your thoughts? is he over performaning his contract? is he a top 5 rb?

The Eagles' star player doesn't like his contract. This week he bumped right up against the moment when he could make it a big story, but Brian Westbrook side-stepped the question like it was a Redskins linebacker. It's hard to argue a man is underpaid when he's walking around with a $25 million contract. But he's probably outperformed the deal. Westbrook is eighth in the league in rushing, ninth in receptions (second among running backs) and second in total yards. Most of the other guys on the list -- and some well below Westbrook -- make more money. Since the Eagles are in the middle of the season and trying to focus on winning, he's declining to open up that can of worms. But this is absolutely going to be a problem down the road.

smokosama is right, he is an extremely useful player all around offensively, and when needed he can pass block fairly well. the only thing the eagles have against him is how often he gets injured AND his age. if they sign him to a long deal, its more than likely he will age and become less effective. the other thing is that if he doesn't get exactly what he wants from philly, he can go somewhere else where he'll get a good amount of money for only a few years. best thing i can say is wait and see.

How often he gets injured?.....He only missed 4 games in 2005 and 1 the following season. It dosn't sound like to me that you know what you are talking about. He's 28 and still in his prime and has shown no signs of declining skills. The Eagles are great at identifying talent where others don't and then locking them into contracts. The thing is, they're also known for not resigning that talent to larger contracts.

The organization is heading in a different direction now though...who knows if Andy Reid will even be back.

The bEagles need Westbrook, cause like omni said about his skills not declining, McNabb's skills most certainly are. They'll negotiate a contract that'll give the opportunity to make alot by setting performance and benchmark bonuses, added to a small base jump...probably to like 35m/yr. And if he hit all of hiss bonuses throughout the year he's have a potential of like 50m.

his skills are not declining NOW, but they CAN in the future. and he's on the injured list, although hes probable it still effects his ability. last year i know for a fact he got injured a number of times, although it may be small, it still effects the team's overall play.

lol...your links are talking about practice, not the game......

Look, here's your quote

the only thing the eagles have against him is how often he gets injured

Your espn "research" doesn't back your quote well.....you're wrong.

Bottom line.....you're wrong.

Not bad for an EVERY DOWN back who is both the first option on the ground attack and through the air.

and he's on the injured list, although hes probable it still effects his ability

He looked pretty damn good last night vs the best team in the league..didn't he?
