BigMoneyNacku Posted May 23, 2011 Report Staff Posted May 23, 2011 Well my luck finally ran out. I finally finished the latest stage of the second job and turned on the ps3 last night for the first time in weeks. Yellow light of death!! DAMN IT. I have an original 360 and lucked out never to get the rrod, but my ps3 gets it. Anyways, I'm stuck between sending it in to get fixed or just buying a new one. Does anyone know if anyone buys machines that have ylod? Quote
Playerdown Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 You can get it fixed for $150 by Sony, or you could do what i did. Reflow the board and then trade it in at gamestop. There are lots of people that buy the ylod, to fix and sell also. Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted May 23, 2011 Author Report Staff Posted May 23, 2011 you got a link to the reflow procedure? Quote
IRISH BULL Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 It's actually $129 for Sony to replace it with a 120gb. http://www.urgentfury.com/showthread.php/76665-Sonys-new-price-for-fixing Quote

BigMoneyNacku Posted May 23, 2011 Author Report Staff Posted May 23, 2011 Thanks, gents. After reading a bit, I'll just send it in to get fixed. Chaps my ass to be without for a few weeks, but it looks to be the best option. Quote
Johnson30 Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 Don't reflow it.... only works for a month or so. Just get it fixed or trade it in broke for a new one. Quote

BigMoneyNacku Posted May 25, 2011 Author Report Staff Posted May 25, 2011 Well I got sony called and they are sending the box. The girl was a little put off by the fact I made her write down what game was in there, and made her repeat it multiple times. LOL It is only 99 bucks. The funny part was the whole new system at the beginning for resetting pw's and directing people to the website for outage info. Chili, I may just turn on some Forza. Most likely I will work on my honey-do list so I can veg out without distractions when I get it back. Quote

BigMoneyNacku Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Staff Posted May 27, 2011 That's what they billed me. Maybe it's a refurb. I don't know, I suppose I ought to call them back now. Quote
