Ooooooohhh Blue bottom CD's

I dont know what that is all about, but be careful putting tape on ANY DISC.. because when you take the tape off it takes off the label & ruins the disc.. just make sure if you put tape on it you leave it on ..lol

yeah lol u jsut put the tape on the image side of the CD not the actually bottom part lol

YEAH, thats what im tlaking about.. if you remove the tape from the image side you take away the background of the disc & it wont work..!!!

IF you already did that, thats why it wont read it.!

Try putting tape back on it..

It's like a clear window with white writing on the clear glass & a white background.. you cant see the writing until you put another color on the background..

IF you removed some of the image the PS2 is looking right through the disc & cant see the information on it.

ah..lol well ive taken plenty of tape off of it dosnt look like ive removed any image thoe prob 2 small 2 see thoe ..i heard putting whiteout on the bottom center of the CD works aswell have u tried that?

I never tried it, but i wouldn't put ANYTHING on the bottom.

Try holding your disc up to a light & see if there is any of the image removed. & if you see a spot, try putting a small piece of tape or white out to cover the gap.

if when holding ANY cd/dvd up to a light and being able to see clearly through a scratch, youre pretty screwed. Since the data is actually on the very thin layer of mylar affixed to the top side of the plastic disc.

my old PS2 (fat one) did the same exact thing.. here's what ya need to do.

pull the bitch apart, and when you get the main cover off take off the cover that sits above the disc. Once you get that off power it on and open the disc tray so you can see the laser, then turn the power off so you have the entire inner works exposed as if you were going to clean the laser etc.

what you'll have to do is take a q-tip and put an extremely small amount of rubbing alcohol on it. gently touch it to the lazer to remove any dust etc. Once you've done this look just next to the laser, there is a golden coiled style rod thing that the laser mount moves up and down on.

put more alcohol on your q-tip and clean that golden rod, you probably have a huge dust build up on it. clean it off till it has a nice golden shine to it again.. if there was a lot of dust on it you'd hear that clicking noise because your laser was unable to adjust fast enough to read the disc (caused by the dust). Try this once and let me know if it works, I'd walk ya through it otherwise.

Never do the tape thing, you'll screw up your games!

Usually cleaning the laser works.

I cleaned my first PS2's laser which I saved for some reason...about 4yrs+. By this time I was on my 3rd one...I cleaned it and all was well again.

But if that doesn't work then the laser is bad or rail slide assy is out of alignment. If its an older PS2 like u mentioned, u can also turn the white gear (about size of a quarter if its there) a couple notches one way or the other. Just make sure u mark it before moving it. Gear is at back of CD unit under the CD player cover plate. Adjusting this gear adjusts the laser angle. Sometimes a click or to will get em to read. But some of the other PS2 discs (silver backed) may not work.
