Get Hit by a storm?

Did anyone else get hit really bad by the storm that just went through the north east? I live on the canadian border in Northern NY and we got hit pretty hard. Tress dropped on power lines...through houses. Our local Firestation is fried....the house accross the road from it got hit by lightnigh and it back fed to the fire dpt. When they tried opening the doors they got electricuted. I jumped in my wrangler and went on a mission to clear the roads. The state highways had trees blocking the roads and lines down all over. Transformers on fire in the road.

 

 

All in all though it was pretty wierd I would say. Just wondering if it hit anyone else either.

 

I only lost power for 5 hours....most are still without it. Cable and shit came back 18 hours later.

I had tornadoes all around me this last week. On Saturday night we had one touch down less then a mile away. I slept right through that one :-\ It happen about 2:30 or 3:00 in the morning. Then last night we had one hit about an hour from me that hit a boy scout camp. I'm sure everyone has seen this one. They also had them touch down all round me last night. It has been absolutely crazy this year.

There has been some very impressive storm systems ripping through the mid west and central US the last couple of weeks. The system before this when from West Texas into and through Nebraska. It just kept spawning down in one spot in Texas. We got some bad lighting and flooding but nothing like up north

My daughter lives in Upstate NY, and I talked to her last night and she stated the same thing -- really really bad storm her way the other day. She is still with out cable and internet -- truly horrific for a teenager.

Here in Chicago we've gotten our fair share of rain and storms. My place up north in Wisconsin where I go hunting got hit really hard though. The county was declared in a state of emergency and there's been mass flooding. The crops are going to be awful this year up there.

It sits at an average elevation of about 5100 to 5200 ft (just slightly lower than Denver).

 

Copied that from wikipedia, but the Denver part is wrong. If you go to a donkeys game, the row of seats that is a different color marks the mile high. Most of denver sits well below a mile.

The Eihlerts kid from Eagle Grove who died lives just a few blocks from my parents house. He was actually one of my mothers students this past school year. Very sad indeed.

Tuesday night we got an absolutely crazy lightning storm in NYC. Its been 90+ almost every day but for some reason tuesday night we got hit with a crazy storm. Rained for like 10 minutes but the rain was like bullets. Wind throwing all kinds of shit around and lightning and thunder were coming every 10 seconds.

 

It hit when we were prepping for our war, Rooster. Chili was worried I would lose connection

 

But it's NYC.. the only thing that take away our internet is another record blackout
