OBAMA OR MCCAIN WHO DO YOU CHOSE

Recommended Posts

Please dear god don't encourage young ppl to watch FAUXNEWS!!! LMFAO! They are anything BUT fair and balanced. I find CNN to be the closest thing to unbiased. At least I know where you got your Michelle talking points from now. LOL ;)

Really young ppl should be reading and not watching any of these news stations. Go and blog. I blog on politico.com quite a bit and I think you learn a lot more doing activities like that then watching gate keepers on TV.

Oh, and I keep wanting to post that I'm very pleased to see Obama winning here on the UF forums. I really didn't think that was going to be the case when I saw this poll go up. ;D

Glad to see you doing more than watching T.V. That is a good thing.

But CNN? The network that has nothing positive to say about President Bush? Wolf Blitzer? John Cafferty? So President Bush hasn't done anything right in 8 years? It's mathmatically impossible. But I will prove my point, and by all means feel free to post anything you find on CNN or MSNBC to make the point clear that proves me wrong.

If a Democrat get's caught in a scandal, it will be aired as "US Senator (enter name)" was ......

If a Republican get's caught in a scandal, it will be aird as "Republican US Senator (enter name)" was....

You don't have to believe me, you just have to watch and believe your own eye's and ear's. How confident am I to make such a post? I won't be proven wrong unless you refer to a FoxNews report. Then we all get to see how "faux" they are.

Nope, that's cool. You report facts that are proved incorrect. I looked for an admission from Fox that they were incorrect and didn't find it. Congrats, well done, you are proving to be a worthy adversary.

I like it. But you my friend are at a disadvantage, which I will take full advantage of.

Now you get to defend MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and PBS for making the same mistake, when it happens. I have examples from the past, but I spoke to the future tense, and I'll stick to that.

Welll done, you won this round, but it's not a one round fight.

I am whole heartly supporting Obama. I'm so sick of seeing rich, old white men screw us. Let's let a young black man do it for a while. LOL... but seroiusly, here's my take.

As an independent, I said before in the other thread that I would have voted for McCain in 2000 over Gore. But after watching McCain over the past 8 years... I don't see how anyone, even Republicans could support any of his policies? This is not the brand of Republican that I grew up on.

I really liked Huckabee and I would have considered him. If Ron Paul was on the ticket I'd be voting Republican this time. My first choice on the Dem side was Biden. He's definitely the most qualified as far as experience goes. But just a note on that... did you all know that Abraham Lincoln, one of our most beloved POTUS had less experience then Obama does? Just thought I'd share that for all that say, experience, experience, experience... Obama has none.

Any ways, I will support Obama cause he has the most fresh and new ideas for our country. I like quite a few of his stances on things and think he will "right the ship". In my time (41 years old)... this has been the most darkest days of America for me. So to be honest... I don't care who wins as long as we get rid of King George I'll be partying!!!!!!! I hope I kept this clean enough and didn't offend anyone. :P

Not much longer now!!!!!!!

I completely disagree. His foreign policies along with Mr. Biden are a nightmare. I haven't heard ANY fresh new ideas come out of his mouth. You say don't talk about experience, OK then that trumps your 4 more years of bush theory.

Joe Biden is arrogant, so arrogant he once told an interviewer how smart he was compared to him, oh and he lied with most of his statement. Why would someone do that who is running for president?

I don't understand Obamas appeal to some people, he is a Marxist. He will change things alright, we will become that socialist society that he dreams of us becoming. I frankly would rather have Hillary Clinton then him.

Out of all the post. I think this one was the best....

McCain here!

I'm not a big poll person... but I thought it's interesting to see our poll here so closely match up with the latest polls out there. Of course this is after the DNC's convention. I'm sure they will most likely even out after the RNC's convention......... maybe. ;D

National Gallup Tracking Obama 50, McCain 42 Obama +8

National Rasmussen Tracking Obama 51, McCain 45 Obama +6

National USA Today/Gallup* Obama 50, McCain 43 Obama +7

National Hotline/FD Obama 48, McCain 39 Obama +9

National CBS News Obama 48, McCain 40 Obama +8

I'm just a very big believer in closed door policy' date=' I see more benefits to it then policing the world. If the rest of the world wants to blow itself to shit then let em at it I say. As long as American people are safe and sound at home that's all I care about.

[/quote']

i completely agree with you, if there was a candidate who believed in classic, traditional isolationism he/she would have my vote, full support, and as much money as i could afford to give that person. if we can do that, cut our international humanitarian spending, we could probably get rid of our 10 trillion dollar debt withing 2-4 years. but not one person has the balls to do that.

That person did run... His name was Pat Buchanan

Wow! Let me remind you that I am voting for Obama, but damn! ~ Mayor Giuliani is 'killing him' right now! And 'Palin'...hasn't even came on stage yet, at the RNC! Just being honest here. Obama better come up with some 'Christmas-moves!' (a gaming slang, meaning that you will need a miracle to win!) Just my opinion...

She delivered an ok speech... unfortunately it's the same old tired rhetoric. Guillani especially. (Really from both sides DNC TOO!) I guess I just feel a stark contrast to the RNC's message. Country First... means, if you don't vote for our side, you're not putting your country first. LOL It's rather insulting and feels very exclusive to me.

Any ways, I'm going out of town the rest of this week and probably won't be near a computer. I'll pick this back up next week when I'm back. Wish me luck in the Talent Show at my company's conference! Woot woot!!!! LOL ;)

One time when I was in highschool I was looking for a summer job I could earn some good cash at, maybe get a tan and work outside. I read an ad from a general contractor looking for experienced concreate/ masnry guys. I called at told em I had some experience and could do the job (in reality all I had done is lay a driveway lol).

It payed well, I busted my ass/ worked harder than anyone else, I tried to learn by watching and being hands on- In the end I did fine. However I was no where close to being as good as anyone that had experience and as I look back on it- It was a buisness mistake to pay me the same as those guys that outperformed me.

Bottom line- I dont care how much you "want" something, how good you think you will do, if you have no experience you will fail many times and make mistakes before even understanding the job/ role. IMO this is a great way to master a skill set and become very strong- However the job is President of the United States. I as an American with family and friends over seas do not find it OK to have someone in a position that is not the best or has a learning curve.

IMO Obama needs to run again in 8 years AFTER he has showed with a record and resume he knows what he is doing and is the best qualified.

Its simple really- Who is best qualified for the job. IMO thats Mc cain- Not my 1st choice but the best one.

Well I am pumped up! Thompson,Guilliani, and Palin all gave fantastic speeches. And warpig or course your going to hate it lol. You remind me of a left wing blogger, hell the Clinton News Network screwed up with this cnnmccaindemnom.gif. All the networks make mistakes like that but of course you just want to bash Fox but its ok. You must not recongnize opinion shows. OReily,Hannity and Colmes are opinion shows. If you watch OReaily and you dont know hes a conservative youve got problems. I guess you also think Brit Hume,Cris Wallace, and Shepard Smith are biased too huh?

And one more thing, your in for a rude awakening. Your gonna find out one day that Obama is just a politician! I know you probably dont believe it but hes not the 2nd Comming.

Yea 'ARAS_ScoField': 'WarPig' might be away from the computer for a few (from his last posting), so I'm here by myself in this forum until then.

I too, am for Obama, and after 'Palin' got off...I kind of 'know' the outcome of this one! I agree 100% with you (cause I'm a stand-up kind of guy), and I don't know 'WarPig' all that much...but I'm sure that we both think alike on 'this one': DNC better find somekind of miracle now! ~ That damn 'Mayor Giuliani' basically cut Obamas neck, and put nails in his coffin with that speech! I didn't hear the speakers before him, but 'Palin' just 'dug' Obama back up from what 'Guiliani' did...and chopped off his neck, then burried him again :'(

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth.

Some examples:

PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

PALIN: "There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state senate."

THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation.

PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars."

THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded.

Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families.

He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise.

MCCAIN: "She's been governor of our largest state, in charge of 20 percent of America's energy supply ... She's responsible for 20 percent of the nation's energy supply. I'm entertained by the comparison and I hope we can keep making that comparison that running a political campaign is somehow comparable to being the executive of the largest state in America," he said in an interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson.

THE FACTS: McCain's phrasing exaggerates both claims. Palin is governor of a state that ranks second nationally in crude oil production, but she's no more "responsible" for that resource than President Bush was when he was governor of Texas, another oil-producing state. In fact, her primary power is the ability to tax oil, which she did in concert with the Alaska Legislature. And where Alaska is the largest state in America, McCain could as easily have called it the 47th largest state — by population.

MCCAIN: "She's the commander of the Alaska National Guard. ... She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities," he said on ABC.

THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under "federal status," which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska's national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations.

FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States."

THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996 mayor's election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of 1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got 76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries.

FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOV. MITT ROMNEY: "We need change, all right — change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington — throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin."

THE FACTS: A Back-to-the-Future moment. George W. Bush, a conservative Republican, has been president for nearly eight years. And until last year, Republicans controlled Congress. Only since January 2007 have Democrats have been in charge of the House and Senate

And the really big suprise, FoxNews does NOT mention the fact the Mayor is a Democrat.

It's something to think about anyway's. Know your sources of information is my point.

About Governor Palin's speech.

That was a introduction to the American public for her. Obama didn't get into any specifics during his acceptance speech, and McCain probably won't either.

I thought Palin put everyone on notice that she was not going to allow herself to be marginalized, belittled, or bullied around. She responded on several occassions to direct attacks against her and her record. The mainstream media and the Democrats at large underestimated Palin, and she made them pay the full price. She also pointed out what she feels are character shortcomings of the Democratic nominee, the Democratic nominee should feel free to return the favor to Palin, but I think that would be akin to pushing a boulder up a hill with a Q-Tip, because those same type character flaws probably don't exist in Palin.

Palin ran for Governor of Alaska on a anti corruption and fiscal responsiblity platform, and when elected she actually cleared out a substantial amount of corruption in the Alaskan government, including several fellow Republicans. Palin herself told everyone watching about the jet, cook, chauffer, and returning excess funds to the Alaskan citizens.

Yes, by all means, lets compare records on integrity, reform, working across party lines to accomplish things, and plain ole' accomplishments.

But it won't happen, not on CNN or MSNBC anyway's.

_SEN. ROBERT CASEY JR.: "John McCain calls himself a maverick, but he votes with George Bush 90 percent of the time. That's not a maverick. That's a sidekick."

THE FACTS: McCain voted with President Bush 90 percent of the time from January 20, 2001, to when Congress left Washington on its annual August recess, according to a study by Congressional Quarterly. But McCain wasn't always a staunch Bush backer. In 2005, his support for Bush's position on legislation reached a low of 77 percent; last year, when he launched his latest bid for the GOP presidential nomination, he voted with Bush 95 percent of the time.

_IOWA GOV. CHET CULVER: "Now the oil companies are placing their bets on John McCain, bankrolling his campaign, and gambling with our future."

THE FACTS: McCain has received more than $1.5 million in contributions from oil and gas industry employees and their spouses, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Obama has received about $423,000. But the center's analysis found that Obama has received more than McCain from employees of the oil industry's major companies. Employees (and their spouses) of Exxon, Chevron and BP had given more than $93,000 to Obama as of the end of June; McCain had received $75,000, according to the study.

_PENNSYLVANIA GOV. ED RENDELL: Said the fact that top McCain advisers have lobbied for oil and gas companies "explains why he wants to give another $4 billion tax break to oil companies."

THE FACTS: The $4 billion in tax breaks for oil companies is part of McCain's plan to reduce corporate taxes overall and does not represent an additional tax benefit for these companies. The corporate reduction McCain has proposed would apply to all corporations, including oil companies.
