Really young ppl should be reading and not watching any of these news stations. Go and blog. I blog on politico.com quite a bit and I think you learn a lot more doing activities like that then watching gate keepers on TV.

As an independent, I said before in the other thread that I would have voted for McCain in 2000 over Gore. But after watching McCain over the past 8 years... I don't see how anyone, even Republicans could support any of his policies? This is not the brand of Republican that I grew up on.

 

I really liked Huckabee and I would have considered him. If Ron Paul was on the ticket I'd be voting Republican this time. My first choice on the Dem side was Biden. He's definitely the most qualified as far as experience goes. But just a note on that... did you all know that Abraham Lincoln, one of our most beloved POTUS had less experience then Obama does? Just thought I'd share that for all that say, experience, experience, experience... Obama has none.

 

Any ways, I will support Obama cause he has the most fresh and new ideas for our country. I like quite a few of his stances on things and think he will "right the ship". In my time (41 years old)... this has been the most darkest days of America for me. So to be honest... I don't care who wins as long as we get rid of King George I'll be partying!!!!!!! I hope I kept this clean enough and didn't offend anyone.

One time when I was in highschool I was looking for a summer job I could earn some good cash at, maybe get a tan and work outside. I read an ad from a general contractor looking for experienced concreate/ masnry guys. I called at told em I had some experience and could do the job (in reality all I had done is lay a driveway lol).

 

It payed well, I busted my ass/ worked harder than anyone else, I tried to learn by watching and being hands on- In the end I did fine. However I was no where close to being as good as anyone that had experience and as I look back on it- It was a buisness mistake to pay me the same as those guys that outperformed me.

 

Bottom line- I dont care how much you "want" something, how good you think you will do, if you have no experience you will fail many times and make mistakes before even understanding the job/ role. IMO this is a great way to master a skill set and become very strong- However the job is President of the United States. I as an American with family and friends over seas do not find it OK to have someone in a position that is not the best or has a learning curve.

 

IMO Obama needs to run again in 8 years AFTER he has showed with a record and resume he knows what he is doing and is the best qualified.

About Governor Palin's speech.

 

That was a introduction to the American public for her. Obama didn't get into any specifics during his acceptance speech, and McCain probably won't either.

 

I thought Palin put everyone on notice that she was not going to allow herself to be marginalized, belittled, or bullied around. She responded on several occassions to direct attacks against her and her record. The mainstream media and the Democrats at large underestimated Palin, and she made them pay the full price. She also pointed out what she feels are character shortcomings of the Democratic nominee, the Democratic nominee should feel free to return the favor to Palin, but I think that would be akin to pushing a boulder up a hill with a Q-Tip, because those same type character flaws probably don't exist in Palin.

 

Palin ran for Governor of Alaska on a anti corruption and fiscal responsiblity platform, and when elected she actually cleared out a substantial amount of corruption in the Alaskan government, including several fellow Republicans. Palin herself told everyone watching about the jet, cook, chauffer, and returning excess funds to the Alaskan citizens.

 

Yes, by all means, lets compare records on integrity, reform, working across party lines to accomplish things, and plain ole' accomplishments.

 

But it won't happen, not on CNN or MSNBC anyway's.

Obama was wrong then and only as of 9-3-08 has admitted the surge has worked with the caveat that it didn't work in the original time frame and Iraq hasn't met all 18 benchmarks yet, I'm not completely sure as I type this but I think they have met 14 of those benchmarks, and Obama still wants to surrender Iraq.
