This is being argued over in the Playstation forum. Personally I don't see this as a beta. A true beta would allow us to give feedback to the developers, I don't see this happening.

Online BETA! We are hamsters running on treadmills taking the servers to the max to see what may blow. Like I have stated before this "Demo" or "BETA" is probably old content.

They are past the point of wanting your input anyhow.

to be honest it is kinda both, i highly doubt this is the type of beta where they will tweak with the gameplay, but i have seen some devs playing on some rooms, asking about how we like the game, what you dont like, is this cool or what, have you shot a bird, lol. also i think the real beta testing that is going on is the servers, my theory is that they are running the servers at low capacity, increasing it little by little, that last patch fixed some things, the next might fix more and so on, so that once the game is out, the rooms run nice and smooth. HOPEFULLY THIS GAME DOESN'T TURN TO RSV2, if you got rsv2 on release date for the ps3 you would have encountered stats erasing, incredible amount of lag, rooms couldn't stay up for more than 2 minutes, it got to the point this kid threatened to sue ubisoft if they didn't fix it, lol. now can the same happen to /6?

Well appearently people arent reading the user aggrements they agree to. If you read that you will find that the proper place to discuss issues in the beta is the socom beta section on the Playstation forums. This is the feedback section you talk about.

However, I do not like to think this is a true beta because most betas are limited alot more than this.

But oh well....I got to play socom....even if the controlls could not be switched like they could in the last socoms...mabey the real game will.

Truthfully I could care less about giving feedback considering they never listen anyway, I just wanted to play Socom that badly. So you can make it a point that some are playing it to help out with feedback and all that, those people call it a beta. Then theres some that just wanted to play it those people call it a demo. I call it a beta/demo I don't really care I just wanna play.

They have already had the Q & A beta. It was about a month ago. I image this beta is meant for connectivity and loads on the server. Which is why they made it so easy to get involved. They are testing things before the game actually comes out. Why do you think they pushed backt the game.

They basically outsmarted us for once. They thought hey instead of releasing in September, we will release a 1 month beta, test the servers that way we have a cop out if things are going bad. I think the game is actually finished. They are just preparing for the first day of action.

We're helping with load testing. There's really no way to effectively simulate real-world conditions when testing software, so it's been released to the masses.

It's a beta.

But to me that is not a true beta. A beta test should be us finding issues and reporting them, that is not what is happening. Them testing their net code or servers is not beta testing the game play of this game and that is what /6 is letting the public believe. We do not have any input on issues that we see in game and that to me tells me it is a demo.

Wow. We are now haggling the legitimacy of the term beta?!

LOL, I would contend that it IS a beta, as the use of a beta is to collect information. Whether they ASK your opinion or not, they are still collecting info as seen in not only the Saturday the 5th changes, but also the patch released earlier this week.

The closed beta was more for working out kinks in gameplay. Public beta to test server operation.

Now from my understanding, the closed beta experienced alot more issue with connectivity than the public did........
