PS3 Connectivity Issue basic Troubleshooting

Recommended Posts

So finally got my PS3 actually 2 of them for my house @ first i had issues logging in online with the first one.

Basic Trouble shooting for PS3 Wireless Networking

Before anything else test your connection after Easy setup...

If your having issues connecting to the internet or getting booted first try doing this

Go to Settings> Network Settings> Media Server Connection > Disable

Now if your still having issues with this it is most likely your Port settings a easy fix instead of opening up the specific ports is to create a DMZ (Demilitarized zone) on your Router and creating a Static IP address.

This part will help you put your PS3 in the DMZ which opens all ports and firewalls for your PS3 to use this puts your PS3 in no danger but will make it so you wont have ANY issues

To create a DMZ with Linksys i simply went to my web browser and typed the address

192.168.1.1

Then went to the Applications & Gaming Tab

Go to the DMZ tab and enable and create a static IP address.

After this is complete you need to gather some basic information to setup a Custom Connection on your PS3

Your DMZ IP address that you just created

your Encryption if any Key and type

Subset Mask which can be found somewhere in your Router settings in the IP address Mine was @ default 255.255.0

Primary DNS: if you cannot find yours Use 4.2.2.2

Secondary DNS: same with b4 if you cant find your use 4.2.2.3

And your Default Router number: which is the same place where you can change your settings most Linksys default is 192.168.1.1

Follow the steps in Custom Connection with this info inhand

Rember to set theses to the following

MTU- Automatic

Proxy Server- Do not use

UPnP- Disabled

Hope this helps!
