I don't know what is worse. The join hiccup or people spawning outside the map? Cntry posted in our forums that people were spawning on the 3rd floor towers in Kasbah, ON THE SMALL MAP! WTF?

My point exactly. Because I know when I check the SOCOM.com forums, there were hundreds and hundreds of threads about being able to trigger a claymore while prone.

That "random" spawn deal would be interesting to investigate. I'm the kind of guy that thinks about things to much. Like maybe the spawns aren't random, maybe they have to do with the first person you ghost when late joined. Or where the last person dies when you joined, or....just need to pay attention.

 

But like Churchy said, It'd be an AWESOME whack-a-mole set up

I didn't see random spawns, maybe cuz I was playing big maps. Killzone messed me up everything on Socom felt different.

It happened to me twice. On Frostfire 8x8 Demo, as a commando I spawned next to the yellow crane, right next to the bomb. Then Kasbah 8x8 Demo, as a Merc I spawned right next to the door leading into the tunnels on the right side.

Gameplay isn't bad. Is 10x better then the last week.

I was playing Kasbah small map demo, and I ran out of the spawn and started to climb the ladder to the bomb plant and was then sniped by a guy on the Merc's side roof. Later he said he spawned there. Also one of my clanmates spawned behind the Merc's Spawn.

I am gonna guess that will be fixed soon. But I am impressed. Played in a 16v16 room that was nearly full with some of the KOS guys and it was nearly lag free. Saw some guys get booted, but I would come to expect that on a night that the patch was just released on. I am starting to believe that we can play this game again and be somewhat pleased.

 

At least I am sold so far.

 

As far as the spawning issue, I don't recall seeing that.

So I been playing the last couple of hours haven't had any lag or any problems with the random spawns.

Once on DG I spawned by the tunnel of the hostage builing as a Commando and once on FF I spawned on the lil walkway on the left side that you have to climb the ladder to get to as a Merc...........other than that everything work great ;D

has anyone else had problems downloading the patch? i cant not download it. everytime i get the message to download the patch it logs me out of the psn. then when i start downloading it doesnt do anything, until it finally gives me an error message. any ideas?

 

i've tried resetting all my internet shit. i've tried disconnecting my router and going straight from the modem to the ps3. I just deleted all my confrontation files and reinstalled the game. we'll see if that does the trick.

any ideas would be great.

i had to delete my save files and reinstall the game before it would let me download the patch. that was gay. now i have to reset all my presets and characters.

yep spawns are f up, i spawned with the other team,i thought it was whack a mole night,and the bomb sometimes falls through the map when you kill someone with the bomb,it happened 4 or 5 times in 1 game last night,need a new patch to fix the new patch

there've been bomb problems since before this patch slick. as for spawns it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

I only had it happen about 5 or 6 times to me personally last night. On FF I spawned up on the edge where the ladder is as a Merc and in the same board in the tunnels as a Seal. Spawned at the bell tower as a Merc on Xroads Escort. Spawned up on the platform on Urban Wasteland and on the level below it as Seal, both in the same board. This is just my experience, this is NOT including all the clan mates that spawned in different spots in different rounds. So YES this is a HUGE issue! Before I only saw it happen 3 times PERIOD on Kasbah breach, that was it!

yeah i was in a room today and got the good side of the spawn screw ups. it only seems to happen the first round, and the first round after the side switch. every game i played in this one room i got a banging spawn. i got like 6 kills every time because people would run right in front of me not thinking anyone would be there. then i would turn around and join another thing and the same thing happened back to me.

 

Has anyone noticed if this is a ranked game problem, or is it also affecting unranked/quickmatch rooms?

It didn't happen to me once during the ~3 hours I played last night. Not saying that it didn't happen as much as noting it doesn't seem to be uber-rampant.

 

On the plus side, I didn't really see much lag or game issues either. A step in the right direct, maybe.
