1. do you think this is the end to consoles?

 

2. revolutionary or a curse to gaming?

 

3. Just a fad?

 

There is like a huge discussion about this, just wondering what is you guys opinion on this.

I am not sure what to think of this, the idea is not bad, however i just dont know if this will be lag free like the guy says it will. I mean the whole experience here depends on how good of a connection you have.

 

What happens if my connection drops below the HD specs now i am in standard resolution ?? I don't know i guess i would have to try it for myself.

Beta for the summer was just announced.

 

Yesterday we told you all about OnLive, the new gaming digital distribution service that hopes to shape the future of gaming. Well, the official website for the service has gone live and includes the ability to sign up for beta testing which will begin this Summer. The beta is limited to US residents though and you must be at least 18 years old to participate.

 

Anyway, OnLive is getting a lot of attention right now...it will certainly be interesting to see how this thing shapes up...

As I posted on the RVN forum... one company trying to take down the major players in the console market seems more of a joke than anything.

 

Consoles didn't end PC gaming, this thing (at best) should aim to co-exist in the current gaming market.

IGN has an excellent article about OnLive that I'm too lazy to copy over. They think it has potential, but they can't take the graphics hit. Games like Crysis stretch out and can become very blurry and distorted. And if your connect drops, say goodbye to the 720p and such.

 

Console gaming won't die. Too many people are fanboys of current companies and wouldn't take the risk of buying something that is completely new and random. If it was made by one of the big three companies, that's different.

I was actually thinking about dropping my resume with them. I think they will be successful within a niche market. But then again people said the same thing about netflix when it first started.... so who knows. (remember a really early on interview when the company was starting to gain steam)
