Cool... btw, I have to disagree with your assessment of Canadian weed. I get enough 2nd hand weed smoke when I walk on the range as a Correctional Officer, and I gotta tell you, I get the munchies pretty quick! :-X

Very nice... the free healthcare's nice too!

That health care isn't free there is a reason why things cost so much more in Canada. And I would rather live down here where people trek hundreds of miles through the desert with little water and food just to live here. Or the ones who ride on boats through the ocean for a week with little food and water just to live here last I checked Canada doesn't have this problem. ;)

No... it isn't free, we pay for it in our taxes. But, and this is a big but, EVERYONE can recieve it! No questions asked. It's peace of mind that is nice to have.

Isn't this more like your current situation? :-[

LOL it's true America has a lot of problems and IMO it's probably going to take pushing the reset button on our government if you know what I'm saying. Bottom line is America has a corrupt government bound and determined to take us into socialism while country's like France warn us not to because it doesn't work. I could get into to more detail but I don't want to break the rules against political discussions.

I hope everything does get back on track for the U.S. I'm not naive enough to realize that our future is linked with America's success or failure. We are connected by more than just the largest undefended border! ;)

Same here I got laid off in December just before Christmas and having been working part time and odd jobs ever since. It would be nice to get back to the good ol days of bonus trips to lake Tahoe and Hawaii but truth be told I would settle for just having my old full time job back.

Though the health care is free in Canada the cons of this is the waiting list to seek medical help takes along time weeks and months cuz your put on a waiting list. So if you need a surgery you pretty much out of luck because others are in line to get one. Great Britian is having the same issues, I constantly meet people from thier who paid to come to the U.S. to seek medical help because they need it asap they cant get it from where they are from cuz of the waiting list. So though we pay for it prsonally or our comapny, we should be happy we could seek help anytime we want without having to wait

Canadian governments are looking to the private sector to shrink the waiting lists. Day’s clinic, for instance, handles workers’-compensation cases for employees of both public and private corporations. In British Columbia, private clinics perform roughly 80 percent of government-funded diagnostic testing. In Ontario, where fealty to socialized medicine has always been strong, the government recently hired a private firm to staff a rural hospital’s emergency room.

This privatizing trend is reaching Europe, too. Britain’s government-run health care dates back to the 1940s. Yet the Labour Party which originally created the National Health Service and used to bristle at the suggestion of private medicine, dismissing it as “Americanizationâ€â€”now openly favors privatization. The Labour government also works to voucherize certain surgeries, offering patients a choice of four providers, at least one private. And in a recent move, the government will contract out some primary care services, perhaps to American firms such as UnitedHealth Group and Kaiser Permanente.

There are pros and cons to both systems IMO the problems with government run health care are more. I know with the U.S. Government they are so bad at running other things they do run I don't want to throw another thing in the mix. The private system in America is plagued by frivolous lawsuits and extremely high malpractice insurance among other problems.

As for the above mentioned kaiser permanente I would stay away from them if I had a choice they are well known to cut corners.

Of coarse there are pros and cons to each... but personally, denying the poor and unfortunate healthcare is unacceptable in my opinion. It is prioritized to a degree here in Canada, depending on the severity of the case, room for improvement yes... but EVERYONE who needs medical treatment still gets treated.

On a side note, we've had Americans come to Canada for years, and pretend they are Canadian to be treated free of charge. Our code of Ethics says we treat EVERYONE! 8)

BTW ID... you must have had quite the headache copying and pasting that thread! ;D

Hell yeah, I was pissed I couldn't find the report I was looking for.

Overall Canada is going through Financial Burden because of this and now they are looking at private sector to get help. The free health care that is provided has prolonged wait times for many services, including cancer treatment and cardiac surgery.

If we see that Canada and other country's governments are struggling financially why should the US try to do the same where we are in a mess right now. I predict the free health care wont be free for long. As far as it is people traveling to Canada to get treatment for free, that I have no trouble believing because its free, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't nothing serious like Cancer treatment and or serious medical surgery's.

I see more people from other countries coming to the US for Miracle surgeries rather than going to the UK and Canada.

That's the biggest problem right there IMO. I have no idea on what the numbers of Americans are that go to Canada for treatment but I would be willing to bet it is nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands coming to America from Mexico and other places to clog up our emergency rooms. Believe it or not the illegals without insurance who come in with a stab wound or pregnant and need someone to deliver their baby don't get turned away.

If I was a Canadian paying higher taxes on everything I buy to cover the cost of health care for Americans who just want to get treated for free I would be pissed.

Bottom line is IMO at the end of the day someone or some people have to pick up the cost for the people who are a drain on the system.
