right before the end of 3rd quarter.. down by 14 driving strong.. pass for a first down..,

 

Called back offsides.. now it's 3rd and 15 and drew is pressured.. bad pass interception..

 

I can hear the Colts coach now.

"Peyton, quick! throw the long pass right off the bat!"

 

sure enough deep gain for the colts...

 

Oh well, that's probably the ball game..

 

but it's cool, The saints need a lost here IMO so they will work hard.. besides the saint's are not a strong starting team and do better the second half of seasons... add to that they suck on thur night games and I don't think they were quite ready for prime time first game limelight against the champs for the first game..

 

truth be told I had my doubts for a win tonight by the Saints, but I also have no doubt they will be a team to reckon with this year.. and a lost tonight won't mean much in the long run.

Man this game turned around fast. I shut it off at 10-7 Saints when we went to warm up for our war. I turned it back on at 10 PM Central and wham 34-10 Colts.

41-10 final. Drew Brees SUCKED. I forget what the he did but he set a record that ended up being the worst in NFL history! I think it was 6.1 yards/completion or something along those lines.

 

Manning and the Colt's D just plain and simple laid a smackdown on the Saints. It was just plain murder.

I also hit last night. The Over/Under was 52. I took the under. 1st hit of the season. This might be a great year with a start like that...

Drew Brees didn't actually end up with the record for lowest avg per pass (min 25 completions). He completed a 26 yard pass near the end there passing Chris Weinke.....so hes good on that accord. I would still call 2 interceptions and 0 touchdowns a pretty horrible game, not Rex Grossman horrible but pretty ugly for Drew.

I would still call 2 interceptions and 0 touchdowns a pretty horrible game, not Rex Grossman horrible but pretty ugly for Drew.

 

Actually those numbers compare almost directly to Grossman's in the Superbowl. If you go by touchdowns Rex actually did better. Brees: 28-41 for 192, 0 TD's 2 INT's and 1 Fumble lost; Grossman: 20-28 for 165, 1 TD, 2 INT's, 1 Fumble lost.

Don't forget last year was Grossman's first full season as starting QB. When he was on he put up Peyton Manning like numbers. Unfortunately when he was off he put up a cross between Cade Mcnown and Ryan Leaf like numbers :-\. Hopefully this year he will actually be consistent.
