If we all could show this kind of respect to one another.....

Recommended Posts

The world would be a better place!

Army Sgt. 1st Class John C. Beale 39, of Riverdale, Ga.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 108th Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition Squadron, 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Georgia Army National Guard, Calhoun, Ga.; died June 4 near Kapisa, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire. Also killed were Maj. Kevin M. Jenrette and Spc. Jeffrey W. Jordan.

The body of Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, on June 11, 2009. The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia. A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time.

While we all may sometimes talk about how patriotic we are and how we have respect for and honor our military personnel, the following is the utmost showing of respect and honor. Be it known that there are many places in this land where people still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. Georgia remains one of those graceful places. The link below is a short travelogue of that day's remarkable and painful journey.

Chili-Palmer ]

Yea great post.. Its true, people dont show it enough, but there is a lot of it out there that we just dont see.

Your right Chili. There are still quite a few who still care about there fellow Americans and know how to show respect. Also as you have said, it is not shown to us enough. The media would rather talk about murder, rape and robbery. Maybe if they and we paid a little more attention to the good stuff, it could be contagious.

I'm all for it.. sign me up. ;D

This video reminded me of one currently on the WP/LPK site about a clan members fellow Police Officer that was killed, & it was basically the same type of video from Mass. :police:

Thats what made me say its out there, but we dont see it enough.!!

In fact i would be all for a video section completely dedicated to such things.!!

either on the forums of even an HTML page linked from the front page. (or even just a YouTube acct.)

Great post and thank you to all of you replied to this post. I've known my share of fallen heroes and unfortunately a few very personally. My brother and I are both active duty, myself still here in the states and my brother is currently deployed in Iraq. Everyone who posted here has reminded me of what we're all fighting for. Thanks UF

People do show their gratitude. I am a Staff Sergeant in the USAF. I have been thanked many many times for what I do. I have had people buy me lunch if I am out eating in uniform. They say if you eat lunch off base you will have a 1 in 4 chance of having it payed for here in Abilene TX. They are very military friendly. In fact the last time I was thanked was August 25th, 2009. Some random guy was at the airport at 5am while I was dropping my wife off and stopped me to thank me for what I do. So there are people showing their gratitude before it's too late and it is nice to hear a thank you from time to time. Lets you know we are appreciated....and makes the Xmas's me and many other spend in the sand box worth while.

i live in a military mecca of sorts. i can drive to at least 6 bases in less then a hour. i live in Pensacola, FL

there 3 bases in the city alone. Pensacola NAS, corry field, saufley field. all have big parts in the military. the bad thin is i cant remember the last time there was any big for our troops here. we have had ships commissioned here, but nothing the city has done. I guess thats because these three bases are major training bases for people who are to be officers, Intelligence, and pilots among other things we civilians dont know.

but it is cool to see some of the new jets they are testing, and seeing the Blue Angels fly weekly when they aren't touring the US.

People are greatful. You're right, they still do give an occasional thank you from time to time. I just think people forget sometimes.

The last brother is coming your way Staff Sgt. Got three branches covered in the family now. How's that for patriotism?
