  1. I always felt something was missing if there was a tournament without RVN in it.

What? A couple more notches in your win column? :)

    Thanks.

For me at one time, I always felt like there was something missing when a tourney didn't have LPK in it....at one time, Red Cell....I remember the MERCS or *M* being a big favorite of mine...cBF for sure...I liked the Divine Knights...hell, for a time, even Stormwatch (minus the penis)...I'm leaving out quite a few. It was cool to see the clans wh you would see over the last 3, 4 or 5 tourneys sign up again for the newest one and you kinda anticipating seeing your "divisional rival" once again on the field.

    Really appreciate the sentiment, though.

    Sentiment's always a nice thing.

It's not as easy for many as, say, being a dick.....so when ya see it (or even better, receive it) it should be thanked.

    :)

  2. Nooooooooooooooo!

I didn't get a chance to be petty as well!

Ah well. At least there was a nice grouping of RVN, the U, and LPK.

Uprising were monoliths, I remember that. So hard to topple. Credit where credit is due. Very few clans can make others feel as if they might lose before the match even began....but The U were sometimes able to do that. Impressive.

And LPK...anytime we had a match against them, I knew there would be a fair chance of losing because those guys had interesting teamwork, but that a win would be most exciting.

And RVN...they're good guys. Won some, lost some. Being in it, I've never been ashamed of anything that clan's ever done, win/lose/or otherwise. Never won a championship, true, but there are about 80% of the rest of this community, current and past, who never had either. We all walked away from the same thing, though, and that was a damn good time with good competition. If it wasn't good competition, then those who did win championships wouldn't have taken any pride in it.

To that weirdo who literally fell onto the floor, began rolling about, and chuckled until his asshole fell off beside him...I'm sorry. That sounds horrible. Really horrible.

  3. Wow..."State of the Union" just brought back a flood of memories.

I still have the t-shirt with all the clan names on the back of it from that tourney.

Those were hella times, I say. Everything felt so new and exciting in the way of scenario-based tourneys and I have to say...those clans in that tourney made that tourney wonderful. In a weird way, I'm reading the "Hunger Games" trilogy now in anticipation of the movie, but now all the clans involved in SotU remind me of tributes competing in the Hunger Games. The allies...the strategy...the triage...and the battles and victory.

So I guess this is easy...7 years ago I was busy with two other guys prepping things up for SotU and wondering if the whole effort was going to be worth it and if we could pull it off.

It was and we did. :)

And someone who posted up above is right...the UF tourneys eventually moved into foreign lands and beyond that into made-up territory designations...but there was some fun back in the day declaring "APC attacks ReD for Arkansas" knowing we'd be pulling in some potential gunners from THM or =R= as allies.

I will quietly mourn now. LOL

  4. I'm not a fan of political posting on gaming sites.

I'm more a fan of posting about bullshit on gaming sites...and occasionally talk about gaming.

But some of those sentiments up there are kinda right on, Puddy. If a forum is -going to allow- posters to post whatever the hell they want, then the right to be publicly miffed about it is taken away. Just how it is. I don't like the political talk, but it happens, and if it happens to happen here, then I've got every tool at my disposal to not look at it. And believe me....I don't.

You have these same tools, too.

You're a military man. You, of anyone, should know how politics do nothing but muddle the mind and start wars.

Best to pay no mind to the politics and just keep your eye on maintaining the peace around here in the land of UF.

  5.

If you think your voice and vote doesn't matter, think again.

    Correct.

I would also like to add...a vote that is cast without information can also be a very dangerous thing. Some would say more dangerous than not voting at all.

Voting with information from credible news sources and facts is doing the right thing...not necessarily voting while being pumped with skewed headlines from corporate-guided mainstream news outlets. There's no blame in it, really, as it's very easy for the nation-at-large to fall into what's served up on the shiny platters. It just takes a little effort in finding what's worth ingesting.

  6. Thanks guys, after 17 hours of labor, we had our son, Jace, at 1:13. We have both been up for over 24 hrs and might try to get a tiny bit of sleep now. He is just amazing!

    LOL, get that sleep NOW.

You will forget how to spell the word for the next year or two. ;)

And congratulations to you and your family. Great work, buddy!

  7. Nope, I know. Censorship is not bad... until it happens to "me".

Welcome to the club Tow. Glad to have you finally on board. Took you long enough to see the light... but you have arrived.

You lost me. I don't think it took me long to post the link. I did it the same day everyone else was pushing it.....I think?

  8. My daughter keeps asking me when the snow is coming. I keep telling her I hope never. But I know Chicago is not gonna be that lucky.

    Right?!?

I get to run home from work today.

    9.5 miles....50 degree weather....shorts and a shirt.....January in Chicago.

    World's fucking ending.

  9. I know there are some badasses on this forum...or at least those who think they are :) .....and I thought that perhaps some UF players here are going to go kick it up doing the Tough Mudder. I only thought of it as I was here on UF and I've got mine coming up this Sunday in Devil's Head, WI. I and my 10-person team, HorsePony Don't Die, have a 10am start time.

Few of my friends and I did Warrior Dash two years ago and vowed never to do that again simply because it as more of a casual cake walk than anything.

We heard about this thing, specifically running through live wire, and thought it was crazy enough for us.

Anyway...if anyone else is doing it, would love to hear it.

And if anyone is doing the one in WI, lemme know, we'll have a celebratory beer afterwards!

One of my team members will be taking video the entire time, so perhaps I may have something to show after.

We wanna kill it all while trying to protect body parts, as I still have the Chicago Marathon to do in October.

  10. Who's your friend? Is he one of the actors or director?

    The director.

His name's Marcus Perry, one of the creators on http://www.ComicsPipeline.com and writer for the Image Comics series Descendant.

    http://www.razorsharpmovie.com/news/marcus-perry_script-magazine/'>http://www.razorsharpmovie.com/news/marcus-perry_script-magazine/

His first produced shoot was for a concept called RAZOR SHARP which can be found here: http://www.razorsharpmovie.com

The star of that one was Cassidy Freeman, the girl who played the female Lex on Smallville...Marcus gave her her start in Hollywood with this film short.

  11. Check out the trailer...some unbelievable shit in there...and it's just cool to see personal friends of mine making something amazing come to life. There will be a panel about this at this weekend's San Diego Comic Con. Fans of comics and fans of Sci-Fi drama will dig this.

  12. So you don't have to read the biggie, the short and simple is that

    - 6ravity, Sniper, and I have stepped down as leaders of Ravenfall.

    - We have appointed Attitude, 46and2, and Paramedic as RVN's new leaders, effective immediately.

    - 6ravity, Sniper, and I will remain in RVN as gunners.

    That's the short and simple.

The long below is what we've posted to the clan on our forum:

Thanks for being patient while I put some things in order prior to this announcement, everyone.

My clan, through its various iterations (well, just two of them, really), has been running continuously coming up on 9 years now. *NINE. *Blows my fucking mind, really. Most of you, if not all of you, myself included, have never been at a job for 9 years, much less in the same gaming family continuously.

I have never called another clan home.

I have never called another set of brothers "brothers."

A Perfect Circle...Ravenfall...all of you...have been my only online gaming family all of these years. It was heartbreaking to see my co-leaders Merlin and Diezel retire. It was tough to see Viper go. Now...now I just see the state of the clan being directed by 6ravity, Sniper, and myself, and time has finally told me that to continue to do so would be a complete unfairness to those in this clan.

Time takes its toll on all. Sniper is busy with work and family. 6ravity actually moved to Alaska some time ago to be with a woman he actually met IN the clan while getting busy with his job, and my life has taken it's fair share of rises and dips. Divorce, depression, rebounding, selling UF, meeting a wonderful light in my life, having a demanding job, and taking on new challenges in my life like training for a god-forbidden fucking marathon just to prove inner strength to myself. All through it, this clan has always held this place in my heart. You all have. There is genuine love that Sniper, 6ravity and I have for RVN...and that very love is the reason why the three of us, collectively, have chosen to step down as leaders of Ravenfall. I am giving Ravenfall, from hand to hand, to those we believe will take this clan, raise it, and help it continue down the path that we've paved.

As of this post, I will no longer be leader of RVN and will no longer retain any ownership of it.

Sniper, 6ravity and I will still remain in RVN. Like I said...we have too much love for it, and we will continue to support it as gunners, and we hope to do it with as much enthusiasm and love as each and every one of you have all of these years. We will not be officers...we won't be UCs...but we will always be RAVENS.

That being said, a clan cannot be a clan without its leaders.

Through deliberation, we have decided on who will usher in the (hopeful) next 9 years of this clan. Each and every Raven was analyzed for their strengths and weaknesses. We knew there were no individuals who would be the ultimate leader in every right on their own. I am not that, which is why there were always co-leaders. *We have determined three individuals who we know balance one another out and who will always...always make the right decisions for Ravenfall.

RVN's new leaders going forward into the years will be Attitude, 46and2, and Paramedic.

Attitude was the first one that we were able to agree on. His everlasting enthusiasm about this clan...the near non-existence of negativity in this man in regard to RVN and Socom...is a battery here in this clan on so many levels. Out of the three, he's spent the least amount of time here in this clan. However...he is Raven through and through. He's never been in any other clan, much less any other gaming group. We've had the opportunity to mold him into what we needed anyone in this clan to be without the marring of other clans in his blood. He is, in almost every sense, Ravenfall's very own Captain America. Through every gaming fiber of his being, he's our super-soldier. Attitude will be the roster clan leader online for this game and for all games going forward.

46 needs no explanation. He's the fist of Ravenfall. He knows what we were...what we should always be...and what we need to be now. He's a good man, a heart of gold, and he always wants RVN to be the one standing above the huge piles of clans below us. He's the strength we need this new leadership to have. He's the muscle beneath the skin. He'll always be my friend through the veil of gaming.

Paramedic is the guiding light of this leadership. I know that no matter what Attitude may think...what 46 may believe...Paramedic will be the rationale. Medic will be the one carrying the torch through the dark and making sure the clan doesn't take a misstep. He will be the perfect 6ravity in the vacuum left by 6ravity.

I have every confidence that this clan is in capable, caring hands.

All leadership needs good support. In the case of RVN, it's the UCs.

Hellraiser and Kadillak will continue to be Unit Commanders, but there are two units that will need leadership. Hell and Kaddy will be joined by Irish Bull and Sgt.JoeFriday. Thank you for stepping up, gentlemen. You know what this clan will demand of you, so do us proud.

    In closing -

I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of something that just popped out of my head. I had an idea, and you made it real. You believed in it, you breathed it in, and you exhaled what others understand as Ravenfall. Thank you for my best and only years of online gaming. Thank you for allowing me to be your leader in the clan, your QB in wars, your partner in endless late nights-to-early-mornings, and your friend. Thank you for believing and supporting this thing called Ravenfall. Thank you for everything you've put into it and everything you've enjoyed taking from it.

And 6rav...Snipe...thank you for everything we've been together as leaders and, more importantly, friends. I leaned on you so much. Players and clans typically equated APC and RVN with "Tow," unfairly thinking I was the only one running the show. They did you and I a disservice when they did so. You both are truly unbelievable, and I love you guys. Thank you for doing this crazy thing with me and calling me a friend.

I now say goodbye to Ravenfall leadership...and say hello to Ravenfall.

I promise to uphold everything as a gunner of RVN that I've always expected from each and every one of you.

Can't tell you how hard it was to do this. Can't tell you how much I'm stalling myself from hitting the POST button.

Can't tell you all how excited I am about doing it as well.

Can't wait to see you all online in my new skin.

Thanks for all these years, everyone.

I was able to hand over UF with a smile. I was happy to do it.

I'm handing this over with a tear in my eye. And I am happy to do it.

    - TOW

  13. A few things I would like to point out

    3. Tow you're one funny 40 something year old man.

36, ya fuckstick. I ain't that ancient yet.

Everyone calls this a community but this is a gated community. If someone does not fall in line with everyone else then it just seems like the community grabs their pitchforks and chases them out of town and then wonders why more people are afraid to come here or post in these forums.

And THAT is the very reason that this tourney never ended up like a crap GameBattles where every cheat and every shitty attitude could come home to roost.

Quality control here at UF was done 50% by the admins, and 50% by the community. The community treasures the environment here and would like to preserve it as much as possible.

Best thing you've ever typed on these forums. Problem is, I don't think it was intended as it should have been.

I leave you with this, UF once was a community that was build and ran by people who did it for the love of the game. The people who are apart of UF now do it for the love of the... and that's just it you can't finish that sentence. Do they do it for money ? Do they do it for the attention and prestige ? Do the do it for the community ? None of those reasons really bother me, I just wish the UF community knew what to expect here at UF in the future and not get the famous line "You'll just have to trust us." I really believe if the owners or staff would just make a post laying out their plans for the future then everyone would feel much better about where the new UF is heading.

It was run for the love of the game and it still is.

Whether you believe the Admins are doing it or not is irrelevant. Because there's a STAFF.

If you see the Staff crying foul, then you know something is wrong here. Then you know there's some shady shit going on behind the curtain.

But the Staff is the safety in the gun...the dam holding back the tidal wave. The Staff are YOUR representation that things are being steered correctly by a small few.

By spewing the shit that you carelessly leave all over the floor, you not only disrespect the tourney that allows you to post and the Admins that provide a place for people to game, but you also disrespect the time and energy that the Staff volunteer to make sure UF stays true for its players.

And they really don't have to lay shit out for you or anyone. Their plans are their plans. Do you go complaining to the writers of your favorite tv show that you want to know what happens on the season finale in the middle of the season, or do you just tune in, sit back, and watch the fucking show? It's up to you to decide whether or not you want to tune in next week, but guess what, you get NO understanding or "blueprint" for what's coming up. I don't see why UF needs to be so different.

But it's no longer my concern as I and my clan have decided to play else where on new and soon to be upcoming ventures.

SECOND best thing you've ever said on these forums.

    Sincerely meant as well.

  14. I basically see today what has existed for years here on this forum: The administrators having to type out paragraph upon paragraphs of tip-toeing is courteous logic to explain things to those who, plainly put, get their rocks off in being a dick. A big, sweaty, hairy, wart-ridden dick. Needless to see in a porn, even less so in the arena of this forum. However, they will always remain.

I never learned to just ignore them when I ran UF.

The current administrators will never learn to ignore them as they run UF now.

Probably because they have pride, as others did in the past, on how their property is conveyed by those who don't really give a shit about the opinions that they're mindlessly putting forth, but just concerned that they GET to put in their mindless opinion.

It's sad that it just can't be ignored and, like some little crybaby kid who hit his elbow on the table leg, the crying will stop as soon as they know no one is running to appease the tantrum.

Opinions, true, constructive opinions, should and I'm guessing will always matter in this community.

But with that great share of good people with good opinions...there will always exist the idiot dicks.

It sucks...and is just a waste of forum.

Quit giving a fuck about your shit sig conveying some anti-fucking sentiment on a tourney forum you clearly don't care about.

No one wants to talk about it. In fact, you probably have your sig get it right NOW more than it ever will in any other incarnation.

Your name is Last...and yes, we will truly, truly remember your name for all fucking time.

Lots of people will remember the name "Havoc" because he showed his dick.

Lots of people will always remember the name "Last" because he proved, day in and out, how much of a dick he enjoyed being.

So your mission's accomplished. We will remember you for all time. Is it possible for you to just shut up now....or at the very least, quit typing?
