  1. Happy Holidays everyone, we wanted to sit down and provide a review of 2012. This year has been one hell of a roller coaster. We fully implemented UFGL for all tournaments and we found that more and more clans are splintered by the games out there today. We had a successful run with Starhawk and turns out we might actually have a Call of Duty that works for a change. We want to thank everyone that has stuck with us through the ups and downs here at Urgent Fury. Through thick and thin many of you have stuck by our side while so many others continue to say we will never last. We want to especially thank our partners GAEMS, Twitch, BradyGames, SCEA and the many Studios such as Sony Santa Monica, Lightbox Interactive and SOF Studios for all of the support and opportunities that we have been given this year. Our community directly benefits from these relationships time and time again. We want to welcome our new partner Gunnar Optics, you will soon see some pretty cools stuff coming your way from Gunnar. With 2012 coming to a close our community has surpassed 10,000 registered users and we expect to grow even more in 2013. We have a lot of exciting events planned for next year including more Black Ops 2 events, God of War Ascension and a few other games. We have lost one of our most important staff members Viper. This has left a very large hole that will be tough to fill and wish him luck with his new venture. Viper was one of the few staff we had that understood the vision we have had for Urgent Fury and was instrumental in getting us to where we are today. We want to thank our Staff Members Snipercity and BigMoneyNacku who have been providing a lot of support behind the scenes in their spare time. Though you guys do not see the staff as much as you have in the past, they are still here and helping. As you can imagine, being a volunteer at Urgent Fury includes setting priorities and we know that UF will always come behind Family and Life. So those staff that sacrifice their time to help out here can never be given enough thanks. We really need to fill a few spots in the staff, especially helping with Black Ops and to help put together a new Ranger program for community outreach and promotions. This used to be the heart of our members and quite frankly a lack of support and issues up top caused this program to falter. It is time to redeploy the Rangers and get UF back where we belong. One of our most successful additions to Urgent Fury this year has been our live broadcasting on Twitch.tv. We have been given the honor of becoming a featured partner and accumulating over 215,000 views since we launched in late May. We have been afforded a PS3 Dev unit from SCEA for broadcasting using special builds of games. Starhawk was the first example of these special builds and we even were given the pleasure of broadcasting the MLG $20k Championship Finals for PlayStation. We already have other games in the works to utilize this system and though we do not need it for Black Ops 2, we are able to utilize the new CODCasting functions to bring our community live coverage of tournaments. During the MGL event we gave away a PlayStation 3 to one lucky winner, HipposCousin, he provided this quote: He is correct we originally were told that it would be a 160gb Unit but we were informed at time of shipping he was actually getting a 320gb, and felt that we would not give him a heads up, so surprise We have given away over $1000 in prizes, $3000 in PlayStation Plus codes and 3000 Beta codes for games such as Starhawk, Dust514 and recently God of War Ascension. We hope the recipients all enjoy these gifts provided by our partners. We hope to continue in 2013 rewarding our members with even more gifts and prizes. So once again thank you to everyone, and we hope to see you guys around next year as we all spend time with Family and Friends this holiday season. Be safe, have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Urgent Fury Command
  2. I've been waiting to post something because I wanted to wait until after I activated the AT&T data plan. Which I did last night. It works O-K, but obviously it is no where near as fast as a Wi-Fi connection, but it's sufficient when a hotspot is not available. And I found out it isn't exactly a "free" 30 days. Technically it is, but only after you purchase the first 30 days. So the free 30 days starts right after the purchased one expires. Moving on to the the touch screen. To me, it is exactly like the iPhone when it comes to how responsive it is. There is zero lag I guess is what I'm saying. And the way it is laid out is pretty idiot proof. You have little bubbles or icons similar to the iPhone that you hit that open up that particular application. Then once it is open, you can side swipe back to the icon screen(s) or to another opened application. And I don't believe that is available on the iPhone. I could be wrong. My wife has the iPhone, I don't. And the rear touch screen is just as responsive. But I only used it for a short mini "introduction" game. The camera is decent, not the greatest, but again, sufficient. But I wasn't buying the PS Vita to take pictures or video. So onto the games. The games look fantastic! The Unit 13 demo is pretty negligible to SOCOM 4 when it comes to the graphics. And it plays and sounds identical to SOCOM 4. So far the demo is only available, so I haven't been able to get online with it. But I cannot wait to try it out. Uncharted looks and sounds fantastic also. Both games take some getting used to on the 5in screen. But it's actually not that bad. There are currently three free games on the PS store that utilize augmented reality, but they are pretty boring. And you have to hold the PS Vita just so to play them. And each one utilizes these cards with symbols on them that add to the environment of the game your playing. Mortal Combat probably will make better use out of AR. But Unit 13 will probably be the first game I purchase. I liked SP and Co-Op on SOCOM 4, and Unit 13 has a co-op version. I'm really looking forward to Black Ops for the Vita in the fall. If that has MP, which I assume it will, I will be golden. The Twitter application is also super cool. It is super easy to navigate and is pretty fast using the touch screen. Mainly because you can just flick the screen and scroll down. I only tried the Twitter app on the iPhone for a short period of time, but I don't remember the Twitter app on the iPhone being this easy and cool. The FB application got yanked due to technical issues, so I haven't had a chance to try that out. The internet browser works very similar to the PS3 browser. It ain't great, but you can surf the web none the less. Kinda like the iPhone browser. I do have a couple of complaints. I wish they added the ability to use the D-pad or analog sticks to navigate through the icons. Now this is just me, but I'm a little anal when it comes to all the smudges. It drives me nuts, and I am constantly wiping the screen with a soft cloth after each use. Oh and BTW, the analog sticks are great. Like I said before, once you get used the smaller screen, playing a shooter on the Vita is awesome. That second stick obviously makes ALL the difference. Unlike a traditional smart phone, there is the D-pad and analog sticks. So it would have been nice to use them if I prefer. Maybe later in an update. My other complaint, and it's a big one, is the lack of including a flash player when using the browser. Why they didn't include this from day one is beyond me. They want to pull the smart phone and iPad people to the PS Vita, but don't include the ability to watch videos on the web?!! Now they claim this is being "discussed" but I'm not holding my breathe. Now this is just a complete theory, but I think they did it on purpose. I think they want to push the PS store video service, and Netflix, and probably soon Hulu Plus first. I think they are thinking that people won't need these "paid" services if they can get all of their video entertainment via Youtube or some other website. Because it does NOT make any sense not to include it. Especially if your going after the smart phone users that are also hardcore gamers. And you know damn well after playing with the Vita, it has the power to have it. I personally think that the PS Vita could be like having an iPad and hardcore gaming system in the palm of your hand. But they need that flash player added on a later update. But all in all, the PS Vita is awesome. Just SO full of awesomeness. I am really looking forward to some of the shooters coming out this year for this platform. And if you are a hardcore gamer, not so much a casual gamer, it is a must have! Because once more games come out, mainly shooters, you will be able to get your fix without having to drag your PS3 or XBOX with you when your out of town.
  3. After receiving over 20 spam reviews on www.topstarhawkclans.com we have taken the time to log all of the spammers and add some anti spam techniques... Review and Rating stats have now been reset and we will continue to monitor and delete any spammers that are not placing a legit review of a site. We have spent the last few days to implement the current protections and we will be adding additional protection over the next few weeks as well. Thanks for DeadSpider Ben, Thegremlinklown Alex and others that have added their sites to the list. UF will be removed from the list as we have a sponsor location on the site and don't need to take the top spot from deserving clans. If your clan is listed and you have not added your tracking script, you will not record any stats... be sure to let me know if you need help And to all of you spammers out there, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

  5. Our cell phone contracts with T-Mobile are up in a month and we are looking to get new phones and possibly change providers. I am looking for a website that reviews cell phones. Was wondering if anyone knows of some good ones out there. I've looked at CNET, but since they are so big you never know who is slipping them money under the table if you know what I mean. We have been looking at getting the HTC EVO 4g from Sprint.

  7. not sure what to think about these things. all too often people buy things and say it helps so much but I find it hard to believe a bunch of randoms, so I turn to the UF community. Anyone using these things? http://www.kontrolfreek.com/Game-Controller-Accessories/KontrolFreek-FPS-Freek.asp The only reason I am interested in them is that when I play too much one of the joints in my thumbs get sore. I was thinking that with the analog sticks a bit higher it might alleviate some of the bending I need to do with my thumbs. Not sure if it they would help me or not. Thoughts / Comments / Reviews please?
  8. So 1.6 dropped what you guys think? Whats wrong with this one? What did they finally get right? anyone gonna try the 2 new factions?
  9. Well im up for a new phone on Monday and I was thinking about getting the new BlackBerry Tour, before this phone came out i was gonn get the Curve. Now I'm reading alot of the reviews of Verizon's website and the thing i see the most is people complaining about the battery life. Does anyone here have this phone yet and can shed some light? The specs on the phone say 336hrs of stand by time, and im reading reports of 12-14hrs, just looking for some on hand experience. Thanks.

  14. It was released on Tuesday. I'd love to hear some reviews and feedback from those who have already checked it out. I currently use Firefox.....worth the switch?
  15. I don't know if there's another thread about it but this movie rocked it was great all the action scenes are insane. If you haven't seen it go see it it's well worth the price in my book. Angelina Jolie was hot as hell in this one tell you what shes still smoking hot especially that scene, I wont tell you but if you see it you'll love it. Also wait for hancock to come out on dvd lots of bad reviews and people walking out of the theater saying it was Will Smiths worst movie next to wild wild west.
  16. im curious, ive been reading the reviews which keep complaining of FPS problems? but it has been said that there was a patch? curious if the issues have been fixed, because i love everything half-life, and i wanna play it on my ps3 cause my comp is too FAIL.
