Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered completes an eons-spanning story that began with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2, delivering the long-awaited narrative finale to one of gaming’s most revered dark fantasy sagas. Players can finally experience the epic conclusion of Raziel and Kain’s conflict fully realized in a modern remaster.

For the first and only time in the original series, players take control of both iconic protagonists. Experience the story from opposing perspectives as Raziel and Kain’s intertwined destinies collide. Each character brings a distinct viewpoint and abilities that shape both the story and gameplay.

This remaster preserves the soul of the original experience while refining visuals, controls, and camera design for modern audiences. Here’s a run down of what you can expect: 

Modern HD Graphics – Updated high-definition visuals applied across the entire experience

Camera Upgrades – Right-stick camera control with full Y-axis movement augments the original fixed camera. 

Graphics and Camera Toggle – Instantly switch between remastered and original graphics at any point during gameplay, including Photo Mode

World & Level Maps – Improved wayfinding to support exploration

Character Skins – Unlockable skins drawn from across Legacy of Kain history, including Kain’s human noble form and Raziel’s vampiric appearance

Photo Mode – Free camera controls, character poses, and instant skin swapping

Lore & Archival Content – Lost levels, concept art, and lore articles fans have come to expect

Deluxe Edition: Deeper Into Nosgoth

For this remaster, we pushed further than ever before with a Deluxe Edition, allowing us to explore the world and history of Legacy of Kain in even greater depth. The Deluxe Edition includes: 

Legacy of Kain: Dark Prophecy Demo – A playable demo of the canceled sequel to Defiance, offering a rare look at an unreleased chapter of the franchise

Digital Comic Reader – Includes original Legacy of Kain tie-in comics, with one available in English for the first time, plus a brand-new cover for the Defiance comic by original artist Tyler Kirkham
