  • Working with SoarDogg, we have launched a new Black Ops 6 league featuring 8 teams in Season One with 4 LAN events throughout the US.

During a discussion with Pablo (SoarDogg) and Shane (Urgent Fury), the topic of online leagues was addressed, including the historical actions of Urgent Fury. Shane emphasized that the primary challenge they encountered was the inability to preserve the integrity of an online league due to rampant cheating. Their past strategy to tackle this issue involved establishing invite-only leagues, incorporating a trial period for new teams to ensure they complied with Urgent Fury's standards.

This year, we opted for an alternative approach by considering organizations that are genuinely investing in their brand through the establishment of a store at SoarDogg. These organizations have undertaken measures to develop a comprehensive brand identity, either entirely in collaboration with SoarDogg or by arriving with pre-existing branding.
We initiated signups for all teams with the aim of assembling a roster of 16 teams, treating each team as a comprehensive franchise under Urgent Fury. Ultimately, we finalized with 8 teams for the inaugural season, launching in mid-November with matches scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

However, the league entails more than merely participating in scheduled matches; we aspired to deliver added value to each of our franchise organizations through several benefits. These advantages comprise revenue sharing from the league's earnings, website hosting, sponsor management, and varying levels of expense coverage for LAN events.
At each of our four LAN events, as part of the benefits from league participation, teams will be seeded based on their standings from the online round. Seeding is crucial for LAN events; thus, utilizing the teams to occupy the top seed positions is a logical decision. In contrast to other leagues that keep their franchise teams segregated from the open bracket, we aimed to integrate them into the midst of the competition.

As we transition into season 2, we will expand the league to accommodate 32 teams, categorized into four divisions. This will allow us to maximize league participation while ensuring that we do not have an excessive number of teams competing. Consequently, we will need to increase the scheduled streams to provide live coverage of all matches.

We have announced our LAN schedule for Season One starting with our Miami LAN January 24-26 at @ROKesports to learn more about our LANs visit https://www.urgentfury.com/lan-events/

Hi, I’m Mike Booth, Chief Creative Officer at Bad Robot Games, and Game Director of 4:Loop. In my last post, I shared how our core gameplay systems come together to create an unpredictable and endlessly replayable experience. Today, I’d like to share more details on one of our co-op shooter’s high-stakes boss fights.  Specifically, I’d like to talk about how our team approaches designing these battles, and how these considerations led to one of our most unique enemies so far: The Scanner.
