Capcom is dusting off legendary NES title Bionic Commando and dragging it into the next generation.

According to the company, "Bionic Commando harnesses the power of the latest generation of hardware to fully exploit the swing mechanic that made the original title so unique. The ruins of Ascension City and its surroundings provide an engaging environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces that allow gamers to traverse each area via multiple routes using swinging, rappelling, climbing and wall walking techniques."

Yeah, baby, grappling hooks for days...plus, the main character is voiced by former lead singer of Faith No More, Mike Patton!

This is a very cool announcement. This was an awesome NES Game. ;D ;D

  2. NEW YORK (AP) -- Joe Torre is out as manager of the New York Yankees, rejecting a substantial pay cut after the team failed to make it past the first round of the playoffs for the third straight year.

Torre turned down a $5 million, one-year contract Thursday -- $2.5 million less than he made last season.

Rather than put up with the indignity of a salary slap coupled with a performance-based contract, the man who led the Yankees to playoff appearances in all 12 years he managed, walked.

"A difficult day," general manager Brian Cashman said.

Bench coach Don Mattingly is the leading contender to replace Torre, who won four World Series championships with the Yanks but none since 2000. Yankees broadcaster Joe Girardi, the NL Manager of the Year with Florida in 2006, is another top contender.

Most Yankees fans could see this day coming.

After losing the first two playoff games to Cleveland, owner George Steinbrenner said he didn't think Torre would be asked back if the Yankees didn't advance.

The 67-year-old Torre, who took over the team to start the 1996 season, made his decision after traveling from New York to the team's spring training complex in Tampa, Fla., and meeting with Steinbrenner, the owner's sons and top executives for about an hour. He was accompanied by Cashman and chief operating officer Lonn Trost.

New York's offer included $3 million in bonuses if the Yankees reached next year's World Series and an $8 million option for 2009 that would have become guaranteed if New York won the AL pennant.

Torre just completed a $19.2 million, three-year contract. The Chicago Cubs' Lou Piniella was the second-highest paid manager at $3.5 million.

"Under this offer, he would continue to be the highest-paid manager in major league baseball," team president Randy Levine said. "We thought that we need to go to a performance-based model, having nothing to do with Joe Torre's character, integrity or ability. We just think it's important to motivate people."

It appeared to be an offer designed to be rejected. Scott Boras, the agent for Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, said players would have interpreted an acceptance by Torre as weakness.

"It is difficult, near impossible, to accept a salary cut," Boras said. "Successful people can afford their principles. They understand if they accept the position, there is a great risk the message to all under him is dissatisfaction. "

Torre called Cashman on Tuesday and asked to meet with the 77-year-old Steinbrenner and the owners' sons, Hal and Hank, who have taken an increased role in recent month. They spent an hour together, and then Torre was gone.

    More Photos

Torre led the Yankees to 10 AL East title, but they have gone without a Series championship in the last seven and haven't even reached it since 2003.

With 2,067 regular-season wins, Torre is eighth on the career list and was third among active managers behind Tony La Russa of the St. Louis Cardinals (2,375) and Bobby Cox (2,255) of the Atlanta Braves. Torre's four World Series titles are likely to earn him a place in the Hall of Fame -- every manager with three or more has been inducted.

Torre's was the longest uninterrupted term for a Yankees manager since Casey Stengel held the job from 12 years from 1949-60. Stengel was pushed out, too, let go after his team lost a seven-game World Series to Pittsburgh.

Under Torre, the Yankees went 1,173-767. He trails only Joe McCarthy (1,460) for wins among Yankees managers.

"This has been a great 12 years. Whatever the hell happens from here on out, I'll look back on these 12 years with great, great pleasure," Torre said after his final game, his voice quavering as he tried to avoid choking up. "The 12 years just felt like they were 10 minutes long, to be honest with you."

    He wouldn't address his future.

"If I have some options, I'll look at it because I'm certainly not ready to move somewhere and not do anything," the New Yorker said.

When Torre succeeded Buck Showalter, the Yankees had not won the World Series since 1978, the longest drought since the team's first title in 1923. It was the 20th change in manager following Steinbrenner's purchase of the franchise in 1973.

Torre never had much success as a manager before landing in New York, and many predicted he would be gone in no time. But he turned out to be a rock and a buffer to the blustery Steinbrenner. He was calm, stoic and brought an unprecedented period of stability to a team accustomed to constant turmoil.

The Brooklyn native was a former NL MVP and a nine-time All-Star. Before joining the Yankees, he had unsuccessful managing stints with the Braves, Cardinals and Mets -- the three clubs he played for. When the Yankees hired him, one New York paper dubbed him: "Clueless Joe."

But New York won the World Series in 1996, led by a group that included Bernie Williams, rookie Derek Jeter, setup man Mariano Rivera, Paul O'Neill and Tino Martinez. With catcher Jorge Posada added in, they won the Series from 1998-2000, the first team to win three straight since the Swingin' Oakland A's of 1972-74, and advanced to Game 7 of the Series in 2001, when they failed to hold a ninth-inning lead at Arizona.

Since then, despite baseball's largest payroll, there has been only frustration: a first-round loss to the Anaheim Angels in 2002, a World Series defeat to the Florida Marlins in 2003 and a painful exit the following year, when they allowed the Boston Red Sox to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the AL championship series.

They lost to the Angels in five games in the first round in 2005, were eliminated by the Detroit Tigers last year and were knocked out by Cleveland this year.

Communication between Torre and Steinbrenner deteriorated in 2005, and it wasn't clear that Torre would return for 2006 until after the pair met in Tampa. Steinbrenner meddled less with the team the past two seasons -- even during a 21-29 start this year -- giving almost unprecedented authority to Torre and Cashman.

Mattingly, who declined comment, became the Yankees' bench coach this year following three seasons as hitting coach. A six-time All-Star and a former AL MVP, he starred for the team from 1982-95 and is a fan favorite whose No. 23 was retired by the Yankees in 1997.

Girardi is a Torre protege who kept a young Florida team in contention until late in the 2006 season with a no-nonsense approach.

  3. Goat ]

Yea that looks fake to me...

However I did find a similar one and this one looks to be the real deal..

My cousin’s uncle’s sister’s brother’s son works for AECS (it’s the backass’d sister company of SCEA), and isn’t  involved with anything at all with Sony. He was at TGIF’s  recently eating a southwestern eggroll. I tried to get some info on Confrontation. He said this information had to be kept confidential, but I managed to beat it out of my cousin:

    Q: Hows the gameplay?

A: It's almost identical to Pong. It has the same feel, and the crosshair has been changed to a red glowing triangle. It has jump back as well.

    Q. What maps are there?

A: We decided to go with a underwater environment

Q: Give me some info on the maps

A: S2 maps have been eliminated, allowing players to be in outside areas of the map. Large asses, and more detailed rears allow for awesome dead guy body pumping. Claw Harbour is a pure quick sniping map with plenty of open areas with lots of head room to enable jump sniping a plenty. Battlefield Union is a waste of time with buildings that you can shoot right through, and Ministry compromises of two asses, and an in between path, somewhat like chain bangs. Each map has 7 nubs including boomer who originally was ditched after negative feedback from fans.

    Q: What's timer and Resistance?

A: Timer is basically a re-spawn team killing, where you set your kill limit, and the team with the least number of collective kills, wins. Resistance involves both teams camping their ass off until one team gives in and says “Screw this camping stuff†screams “Leroy Jenkings†runs in guns a blazing and gets fragged by multiple rocket launchers. The team with the lowest amount of movement from their spawn location after the time limit, are the winners.

    Q: Release date,?

A: November 30th. 2084 or anytime between then and now

Q: How can I be sure?

A: All the staff were informed of this two weeks ago. On November 1st, an official announcement will be made on PlayStation.com, and on S6's official website, stating the games release date. But as of yet, it's still 30th November 2084 or sometime before or after that.

    Q: Beta?

    A: Alpha

    Q: Lagg?

A: At the moment, with 1 player currently testing the servers left right and center and straight up the wazoo, we have yet to utilize lag switches yet but we are confident they will still work great.. Also, we're expecting the total number of users online during peak hours to exceed 30 billion, already a planet on the far side of the universe has shown interest.  So whether our servers can handle that kind of pressure, still remains to be seen and is highly unlikely since it’s ability to handle just 30 players doesn’t seem to work either.

Q: How is the ranking system?

A: Same as always 2. Your own individual performance means little or nothing. And we will continue to give you point deductions for phantom disconnects at our leisure.  Ranks will also go down for everyone when you win as a team.

Q: Any news on future patches / updates?

A: S6 are already developing the first three updates, with the first one being released right after Map Pack 2 for Socom CA.

    Q:Any other useful information?

A: NO! but here’s some useless information. The room maker can decide on whether the mics are open or not, since they only work half the time this doesn’t mean much. If the game is ranked, they can also set a lagg limit, so anyone who laggs significantly for a lengthy period of time, can get kicked and banned from the room including himself.. which is a great thing after three times of booting yourself you get banned for life.. (We call it the three strikes you’re out rule). He also has the option to enable enemy bots. There are infinite different character customization possibilities, and over 2 different ones for the weapons. The game price is yet to be decided, but it will most likely be $100 off PSN, and $8,000 retail with the useless really cheaply made Taiwan bluetooth headset.

Q: What happens If I release this information online?

A: I will cut your throat while you sleep.

    ;)

    ;D ;D

  4. I say BS, but you Decide!! ???

This was posted on the Playstation Forum, and thought I would post it here:

A friend of my cousin works for SCEA, and is actively involved with the PR of Sony. He was at TGS 07 recently, and managed to catch up with him over the net, to get some info on Confrontation. He said this information had to be kept confidential, but I managed to leak it out of my cousin:

    Q: Hows the gameplay?

A: It's almost identical to Socom 2. It has the same feel, and the crosshair has been changed from what was seen on the SGD trailer. It has recoil as well.

    Q. What maps are there?

A: Crossroads, Desert Glory, Claw Harbour, Battlefield Union, and Ministry

Q: Give me some info on the maps

A: S2 maps have been revamped, and enlarged on the outside areas. Large bases, and more detailed rooms with awsome shadow and lighting. Claw Harbour is a pure sniping map with plenty of open areas near the sea and ports. Battlefield Union is a wasteland area with destructible buildings, and Ministry compromises of two bases, and an in between vertical path, somewhat like chain reaction. Each map has 7 modes, including Escort, Extraction, Demolition, Supression, Control, Timer, and Resistance. Convoy was ditched after negative feedback from fans.

    Q: What's timer and Resistance?

A: Timer is basically a respawn, where you set your time limit, and the team with the most number of collective kills, wins. Resistance involves both teams trying to defend their Tribynical Generator (a large glowing generator thingy), and attack the other teams one. The team with the lowest amount of damage on their generators after the time limit, are the winners.

    Q: Release date,?

    A: November 30th.

Q: How can I be sure?

A: All the staff were informed of this two weeks ago. On November 1st, an official announcement will be made on PlayStation.com, and on S6's official website, stating the games release date. But as of yet, it's still 30th November.

    Q: Beta?

A: There's a closed one going on right now, but only amongst staff and hand selected game testers.

    Q: Lagg?

A: At the moment, with 10,000 players currently testing the servers left right and center, it seems to be almost lag free. But we're expecting the total number of users online during peak hours to exceed 300,000 worldwide. So whether our servers can handle that kind of pressure, still remains to be seen.

    Q: Hows the ranking system?

A: Same as socom 2. Your own individual performance determines your overall rank. Although there are other modes and other ladders linked in with teamwork, which only advances you through the ranks when you win as a team.

Q: Any news on future patches / updates?

A: S6 are already developing the first three updates, with the first one being released in December, and the other two one month apart.

    Q:Any other useful information?

A: The room maker can decide on whether the mics are open or not. If the game is ranked, and can also set a lagg limit, so anyone who laggs significantly for a lengthy period of time, can get kicked and banned from the room. He can also has the option to enable enemy dots. There are 25,455 different character customization possibilities, and over 10,000 different ones for the weapons. The game price is yet to be decided, but it will most likely be $40 off PSN, and $80 retail with the bluetooth headset.

Q: What happens If I release this information online?

A: I could get fired, but then again, they would need to prove that it was from me. So save me the hassle.

Hopefully it won't be down for long. I don't watch much TV anymore because I'm usually getting my ass fragged.
