Whoever you give him to, make sure they have lots of land to run him. Huskies have so much energy! They are a dog sled after all.

They are not a dog sled. They are sled dogs.

Relax Shakspeare, I'm still getting used to my Milestone.

Been watching this beast for a while now. It finally came to Canada, but unfortunately to Telus Mobility and I'm with Bell Mobility. From my research I knew that both Telus and Bell run the same mobile frequencies but bringing a phone over from another provider is always tricky. Here's what I did...

I bought the phone outright from Telus yesterday morning around 10am. Reasonably priced at $599. I walked out of the store and over to a Cellular stand and asked the clerk if he could unlock the phone (required before bringing it over to another service provider). The guy had no idea what the phone was as it was so new, it wasn't on his list of unlockable phones. He makes a call and tells me he can, but it will take a possible 24 hours to do it. I said "That's fine". I pay him and he gives me a temporary sim card so I can play with the phone till I get the unlock code. ;D

I go home, turn on the wifi and start downloading all the Android apps I want for the phone, they have a great selection of stuff and more coming every day! Starting to rival the iphone for apps now. I am amazed at how fast the thing is. 6:00pm I get a call from the Cellular guy with my unlock code. I enter it and it unlocks without a hitch. Now off to the Bell store to get a sim card. First Bell store didn't have a sim card so I hit the next one, which is a corporate store (so they should know a thing or two more than the average store). ::)

I walk in and tell the guy behind the counter that I'd like to buy a sim card for my phone and transfer my existing account to the sim card for my new phone. He asked to see the Milestone so I show him. He looks it up on his computer and tells me it won't function on Bell's network. I told him, that I was sure it would, and could we please try. He went on and on about frequencies and the such. I told him I'd done my research and knew it would work. He then went and got one of their activated sim cards and told me to put it in but that it was going to prove me wrong. :police:

I popped it in, turned it on. I handed it to him and his face did a double take as the Bell network symbol became apparent on the Milestone. He uses the phone to call the store and 10 seconds later the store phone rings. He turned to me and said... you taught me something new today.

Anyway, bought the $5 sim card and went home. Once there I realized that while the voice and text service was working great, the data portion wasn't and I have a great data plan so it was essential that I get that working. So after a quick search on some of the Canadian phone forums I discovered I had to set up the APN portion of the phone. A few minutes later and I was solid gold! The beast was surfing like a pro and I was streaming youtube clips seamlessly! :D

This phone is the best I've ever owned. I've had the BB storm, Palm pre, and it beats them hands down. Both of those phones were 3G but this device kills them in speed. Not sure why, maybe it's because it's unlocked. Anyone else know? I also have an iTouch, but I feel my Milestone can do just as much media wise and I can tweek the phone to my hearts content. Because it's an Android phone I simply activated my google account and it immediately and painlessly added all my phone contacts and Calender appointments to the phone! ;D

Hopefully this thread helps anyone else who's interested in buying the phone (also known as the Droid on the Verizon network in the States). 8)

    Scope line of sight

    Weapon movement while prone

Sweet!! Anyone confirm the LOS on scopes is fixed? What do they mean weapon movement white prone?

Scopes are awesome now! Basically you can now hit anything your scoped in on. Before you would hit the corner of a building if you were too close to it. It's much more realistic now, though I am sure some will swear that they got shot by someone soft spotting a corner because you can again be so close to an object and snipe away!

  4. Ok, ran across this question/quiz online and I had to complete it. I feared I was a closet tech addict and this quiz confirmed my fears... I scored 40-49, I'm a Crackhead. I won't tell you what I scored a yes on but I'm ashamed none the less. (Laptops should be standard in washrooms anyhow!) >:( How many other tech addicts do we have here? Can we start up a self help group? If the group doesn't help, we can just sit around and text one another... :D

    49. Are you up on the computer past 3am at least once a week?

    50. Did you make it all the way to the end of this quiz?

    Scores:

0-1: Clean as a Whistle - You are either 95 years old, or you lie compulsively to make yourself feel better about your internet addiction. Sorry to call you out like that.

2-9: Social Drinker - You're not great with technology, but dabble. You probably play sports and actually have a significant other. Either that or you've recently been released from Internet rehab and haven't slipped back to the old ways yet.

10-19: Coffee Fiend - You're about as plugged in as the next person—but you gotta have your daily fix. Let's face it, gadgets are everywhere nowadays, right? That's what you tell yourself at least, but what you don't know is everyone calls you "nerd breath" behind your back.

20-29: Chainsmoker - You recognize that you're a little too plugged in, and you're trying to quit. Your tech addictions are starting to ruin your social interactions, between signing out of the real world every 10 seconds and stinking up the room when you enter. Take this as your cue to shower.

30-39: Pothead - You're addicted, but you have no desire to quit. There's a box of Ho Hos on the desk, and you had to brush Cheeto dust off the keyboard to log into your computer, which you keep password protected with heavy encryption. You hurried through this quiz because your guild is waiting for you in the other window. You really should consider counseling.

40-49: Crackhead - You get all shaky when you think about technology, always searching for your next fix. You've considered constructing a biotech bathtub for your body to lie in, so you can plug your consciousness permanently into the Internet. Family members are planning to stage an intervention and check you into a clinic. You look forward to the shock therapy.

50: Permafried - There's no higher brain activity going on anymore. Doctors should prescribe you video games and/or marijuana for medicinal purposes. Just to keep you from flat lining.

  5. About a year ago my Launch 60gb unit went on the blink as well. But it wasn't the red light of death, the video card started producing artifacts like a gaming pc does when the video cards get too hot or are overclocked. I was moderately happy with the time I got out of it and I wanted to get a larger Hdd model so I gave it to my friend at work and he paid the $150 and in the end they gave him a brand new PS3... he was ecstatic! Now I've got the 120gb model, and the 250gb slim. B)

  6. I understand what your saying Naku. I appreciate your perspective. I don't know where you live or why on earth Law Enforcement is so vindictive in your area, that boggles my mind, especially in todays Politically Correct environment. I'm from Canada and I can say that while there are dirty cops, the majority of them are upstanding men and women who take pride in serving the public. With that said, in my 5 years in the business I have seen 4 Police Officers arrested for one thing or another and I've had to serve them meals through a Segregation hatch for up to 8 months. So I know we take abuse of power extremely serious up here and will make them accountable if they decide to take advantage of the public trust given to them.

As a side note, if a person does have a criminal record, Law Enforcement will tend to stop them frequently if they see them walking or driving down the street and question them. I constantly hear inmates complaining of this. My response is always... "Why do you set yourself up to fail?" Don't be walking down the street 1200 at night, you need to be doing it cleaner than the next guy. Get a job, prove to people you want to change and slowly you'll start gaining people's trust. Their response? "Ah boss, the systems corrupt, it'll never change!"

I say "Be the change you want to see."

As far as I'm concerned, law enforcement as a whole is worthless and corrupt.

Coming from Corrections, that statement couldn't be further from the truth. I suppose society would be better off if Judges, Lawyers, Police Officers and Prison guards simply stopped showing up for work. I don't believe that you hold such convictions. Either you've had some negative experiences with law enforcement or you disdain authority in general. But neither belief or any other for that matter will ever make your statement true. :police:
