  4. We’re excited to debut our first trailer for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, featuring PlayStation VR2 gameplay. The game launches October 26 and is available for pre-order now. Check out the new gameplay below and then read on for some highlights about how we’re utilizing the PS VR2’s unique capabilities to truly immerse players in the Ghostbusters universe. Then, for an extra treat, you can watch a roundtable interview with me and some of my team from nDreams that goes into greater detail about the game. If you’ll excuse the pun, Ghostbusters is a “super” natural fit for cooperative multiplayer VR. Ghostbusting is all about teamwork. There’s no Ghostbusters movie about one person taking on the paranormal by themselves – and there’s nothing like wielding the iconic equipment together as you get up close and personal with angry ghosts. Add into the mix a new story, new location, new equipment, and new cast – and we have the recipe for the ultimate Ghostbusters experience in VR. Keep an eye on your friends with eye tracking Eye tracking on PS VR2 is a game changer when it comes to accuracy and ease of use. We had first-hand experience with the power of eye tracking in our game Synapse, which released earlier this year. As you’d expect, we’ve implemented it here too as an option for menu navigation, as well as making it intuitive to grab objects from a distance. However, it’s been most transformative in our cooperative game when it comes to communication, like seeing where your teammates are looking – as well as sharing a wink or two! It’s uncanny how easy it is to recognize a friend from the real world by their avatar’s mannerisms. Immersive lighting that really darkens a room The PS VR2’s graphical capabilities help us deliver on emotional tone, such as feeling a sense of dread and unease going into a dimly lit dark basement that might be hiding all manner of nasties. That is, until you unleash your particle thrower and it suddenly fills the room with light. The PlayStation 5’s power also enabled a number of ethereal ghost effects that evoke the movies. It makes it especially rewarding when they are flying right at – and through – you. These ghosts get in your head with PS VR2 headset haptics Speaking of ghosts flying through you – as they’re known to do – you’ll feel it viscerally thanks to the PS VR2’s headset haptics. The degrees of haptics we can tap into allow us to use it in several ways, from subtly cuing players when there’s something afoot, to more shocking effects from our scariest ghost. Give Mini-Pufts a squeeze with adaptive triggers The PS VR2 Sense controllers’ adaptive triggers enhance the sense of presence and were particularly effective in bringing the authentic ghostbusting gear to life; from the PKE Meter and the Proton Wand to the brand-new Muon Trap “thrower.” I particularly love priming the Proton Wand with a partial press, before the satisfying click to unleash a blast of positively-charged subatomic particles. The adaptive triggers come to life when it comes to squishing Mini-Pufts. These little critters like to wreak havoc on you and your gear during the most inopportune times. Luckily, you can help your buddies out – picking them off them and giving them a satisfying squish in VR. I believe we’re the first VR game where you can squeeze a marshmallow! And for more, check out our roundtable One of the cool things about working on this game is collaborating with Ghost Corp itself, who are charged with stewarding the entire Ghostbusters universe. We had the honor of visiting the set for the upcoming Ghostbusters film to host a roundtable conversation about the game. You can watch it below – we cover a lot of topics from equipment upgrades and the types of missions you’ll encounter to maybe even dropping a few hints about upcoming DLC after the game launches. Enjoy… and I’ll see you in Ghostbusters HQ. Pre-order Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord now. The game will be available on PS VR2 October 26, 2023.For a limited time, you can preorder Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord – Full Containment Edition to get the game, upcoming DLC, and bonus content at a discounted price. Upcoming DLC includes additional playable characters, equipment skins, bonus content, and more. View the full article
  5. Hey everyone – I’m Aaron Espinoza, the Advanced Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games! Today, I’m delighted to drop new information about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including a look at our expanded Marvel’s New York, the ways Insomniac is evolving city exploration and details about the 10 suits exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition! Play Video In the video above, Creative Director Bryan Intihar provides a deep dive into our expanded Marvel’s New York, including the ways we’ve evolved the game since we last masked up and played as our Spider-Men. New locations, updated exploration, exhilarating traversal, near-instant switching between heroes, a rogue’s gallery of villains, new abilities and gadgets, and brand-new Suit Styles are just some of the ways we’re upping the game this time around. So, what’s new? In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re nearly doubling the size of Marvel’s New York. Expanding beyond the East River, you’ll swing and soar over iconic landmarks across Queens and Brooklyn – complete with story missions, side quests, and city activities! This expansion also means even faster traversal options such as the Web Wings, which can be combined with traditional web swinging to move at exhilarating speeds. Players will also be able to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the open world, near-instantly thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5. Both Spider Heroes are important characters to the grand story we’re telling in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and each will have their own separate side stories to uncover throughout the city. Help students at Brooklyn Visions as Miles Morales or accept new requests for aid as Peter Parker via the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app – you can even choose to tackle certain activities as either Spider-Man! Kraven the Hunter and the monstrous Venom join our roster of villains and will strain our heroes, their relationships, and the place they call home. However, they’re not the only two villains causing trouble in the city. We won’t spoil it for you – but our Spideys will need to, ahem, #BeGreaterTogether, to stop them using many new skills, gadgets, and abilities! In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’ve layered on a new set of abilities and skills for our heroes: Pete’s new Symbiote powers and Spider-Arms are aggressive and relentless; meanwhile, Miles brings an electrifying and thunderous quality to his bioelectric venom power, as well as Evolved venom abilities. Mix, match, and deploy these abilities with ease using a streamlined control scheme and combo them in fights in all-new Spidey style! Speaking of style, let’s talk suits! Featuring 65 suits, which include new original designs and fan favorites from films and comics, players will have an expansive wardrobe of costumes to equip in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’re also delighted to announce Suit Styles, an all-new feature that unlocks alternate color shaders for some suits, which provide over 200 ways for you to outfit your Spider-hero! Play Video The Digital Deluxe Edition In May, we also revealed the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Digital Deluxe Edition featuring 10 exclusive Spidey suits, additional Photo Mode items, and 2 Skill Points. To bring these 10 suits to life, we partnered with several artists across comics, games, and films! We spoke with these artists to give us a little insight into their designs. We’ll be sharing deeper dives into these suits on Insomniac Games’ official social media accounts, so stay tuned! Apunkalyptic Suit – Designed by Jerad Marantz: Make the best out of any situation with the Apunkalyptic Suit, featuring a low-tech design that shows what Peter Parker can do with limited resources and a strong will. Stone Monkey Suit – Designed by Victoria Ying: Heavily inspired by Chinese legends, this suit brings an acrobatic and uniquely mischievous design to the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The suit is practical and stylish! Tactical Suit – Designed by Bend Studios: From Bend’s concept artists Joel Mandish and Darren Quach, the Tactical Suit is inspired by Japanese media and the vast universe of comics. It’s a futuristic and lighter design that stands out in our roster of Digital Deluxe Edition suits. Aurantia Suit – Designed by Raf Grassetti: The Aurantia Suit is an evolution of traditional Spider-Man designs that incorporates slick and practical spider motifs! Highlights include antennas infused into the mask elements, giving it a stealthy appearance made for Peter Parker! 25th Century Suit – Designed by Anthony Francisco: Featuring an ultramodern design, this suit incorporates a unique fishbowl-like helmet and an array of lights. This futuristic suit sports bulky yet fashionable boots and a sleek design all around. The EnC0ded Suit – Designed by Kris Anka: The EnC0ded Suit brings a cyberpunk flare to Miles Morales’ wardrobe! If you look closely at the suit, you may spot a few interesting details such as abstract lettering reminiscent of popular phrases from Spider-Man lore! Biomechanical Suit – Designed by Jerad Marantz: The merger between organics and mechanics, the Biomechanical Suit is inspired by popular anime creature designs, pushing an “otherworldly” style in its use of materials and themes. Red Spectre Suit – Designed by Sweeney Boo: Let’s paint the town red! The Red Spectre Suit spotlights the young and adventurous nature of Miles Morales. It merges Spidey’s heroic motifs with stylish fashion! Tokusatsu Suit – Designed by Julia Blattman: This design takes heavy inspiration from the world of insects and live-action Japanese media known as Tokusatsu. The design keeps Miles Morales’ iconic red and black color palette and incorporates a grand sense of Tokusatsu-like heroism! Agimat Suit – Designed by Anthony Francisco: Inspired by the indigenous tribes of the Philippines, the Agimat Suit is a playful and colorful design suited for Miles Morales. The suit gives off a hint of royalty with its high contrast purple and gold color palette! On top of all the exciting news today, we’re thrilled to announce a special collab with EARTHGANG (feat. Benji) to bring you “Swing,” a new music track featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Listen to it first in our DDE trailer above! For “Swing” and other music from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, you can listen to the full soundtrack showcasing a score from award-winning composer John Paesano on your favorite music streaming platform starting October 20th. 8. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming to PlayStation 5 on December 7, offering fans the chance to play as a Na’vi and fight against the Resources Development Administration (RDA) to protect the beautiful moon of Pandora. PlayStation players will receive the Aranahe Warrior Pack for free, which grants them character and weapon cosmetic sets. In a new trailer focusing on the game’s story, you can learn more about the hero’s journey as a child of two worlds who seeks to reconnect with their lost heritage. Return of the Sarentu In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you play as a Na’vi, who as an infant was abducted by the RDA to be part of The Ambassador Program (TAP) and trained in human ways. You’ve been kept away from your home world of Pandora, and from your people. You are one of the remaining members of the respected Sarentu clan, thought to have disappeared years ago. During the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains featured in the first Avatar movie, you were put into emergency cryosleep as the RDA evacuated Pandora. 15 years later, you wake up and step onto Pandora, as a stranger in your birthplace. Clans and companions To help you reconnect with Pandora and learn the ways of the Na’vi, you will meet other Na’vi clans as you explore the Western Frontier. You’ll encounter the Aranahe, a clan of weavers who value tradition; the Zeswa, a clan of nomads who are ready for a fight with the RDA; and the Kame’tire, a clan of enigmatic and reclusive healers. These Na’vi will also teach you to make a bond with your own companion banshee, or ikran. And once you do, there are many ways you can explore and defend Pandora together; you can even leap off a cliff and call for your ikran and explore Pandora from the skies. You’ll also learn to ride like a Na’vi on a direhorse. Protecting Pandora The RDA has returned to Pandora, more dangerous than ever, and once again threatens the flourishing ecosystems and its clans. You are determined to stop the RDA from destroying your home world. Fight them with both Na’vi and RDA weapons. Use your incredible strength and agility, craft new gear, and upgrade your skills and weapons as you heal and protect Pandora. Now is a perfect opportunity to play through Leon’s story and explore The Mercenaries mode ahead of Separate Ways arriving on September 21. Now, I would like to take this opportunity to deep-dive into what was shown off in the latest trailer. Additional story DLC, Separate Ways, coming September 21! The mission requires secrecy. Failure is not an option. Separate Ways tells the story of Ada Wong and her parallel journey through the events of Resident Evil 4, filling in unanswered questions from the main story. The full story will be revealed as you view both sides of events from both Ada and Leon’s viewpoints. Ada’s story Before Leon S. Kennedy had even set foot in that cursed village, she was there. Her mission? The retrieval of the cult’s darkest secret—the Amber. Now Ada must deal with an unknown threat that is devouring her from within, an accomplice with a dark past and ulterior motives, and a chance reunion with the man she least expected—Leon S. Kennedy. Why did she accept this mission? And what path will she make for herself in the shadow of Leon’s investigation into the abduction of the president’s daughter? Separate Ways characters Ada Wong The protagonist of Separate Ways. She infiltrates a desolate European village on orders from her employer, Albert Wesker. Luis Serra Ada’s co-conspirator. He’s pledged to help her obtain the Amber. Albert Wesker The mysterious man behind Ada’s mission. It’s his dangerous obsession with the Amber that sends Ada on her most dangerous adventure yet. Ada’s grappling gun In addition to the variety of firearms from the original game and the knife parry that you’re familiar with from Leon’s campaign in RE4, Ada will also wield a grappling gun. This can be used to get to various locations, as well as take down enemies from a distance and launch a ranged melee attack. This makes for a more exciting and fast-paced gameplay experience. New characters arrive to The Mercenaries Coinciding with the release of Separate Ways, new playable characters Ada Wong and Albert Wesker join the free DLC, The Mercenaries! This update is available to anyone who owns Resident Evil 4, so make sure you also download the free DLC for The Mercenaries as well. Please look forward to this update. Resident Evil 4 VR Mode for PS VR2 is coming this winter as free DLC Resident Evil 4 VR Mode allows you to experience the entire story mode of the base game on PlayStation VR2. Watch the trailer for a glimpse of the gameplay and action that has evolved with the VR adaptation. Take on the role of Leon S. Kennedy in this terrifying and harrowing rescue mission in the ultimate immersive survival horror experience. Please note that Separate Ways and The Mercenaries are not compatible with the Resident Evil 4 VR Mode DLC. Enter the immersion of RE4 in VR Resident Evil 4 is a reimagined version of the original 2005 game, preserving the essence of the game while bringing it to life with state-of-the-art graphics. Now you can immerse yourself in the world of RE4 and enjoy it to the fullest with Resident Evil 4 VR Mode. Using the PlayStation VR2 headset, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the game’s elaborate stages. Discover details of the game that you may not have seen before in areas such as the dark forests, villages filled with the Ganado, and an ancient castle of awe-inspiring beauty. The 3D audio will further enhance your immersion in every area you visit in the game. How PS VR2 enhances RE4 The development team previously worked on PSVR titles like Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Resident Evil Village VR Mode. With the knowledge gained from these titles, we are now able to create an even more enhanced VR experience when playing as Leon S. Kennedy. The game features a wide variety of weapons, and the team focused on adapting them all to VR for an intuitive VR experience. From the way the weapons are held and reloaded, to the easy-to-understand input and haptic feedback of the Sense controllers, players will be able to feel each unique characteristic of the handguns, submachine guns, rifles, knives, and more. Experience immersion and the weapons in the game as if you were actually Leon on his mission of rescue and survival. RE4 introduced you to the game’s enhanced knife action. Naturally, we took that experience and enhanced it for VR in Resident Evil 4 VR Mode. Swing your knife down at the right time to parry, sneak up on unseen enemies and strike for a sneak takedown, and more. You can also now fight with a knife in both hands. Boxes and crates containing items can be destroyed in VR using your knife or other weapons, or with a simple one-button command. To recap, the additional story DLC, Separate Ways, as well as the free update for The Mercenaries, will be available on September 21, 2023, and the free DLC for PlayStation VR2, Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, is coming this winter. Stay tuned for more action-packed RE4 news! View the full article

  21. In 1996, the first Tomb Raider game officially launched, skyrocketing to the top of the charts. With its groundbreaking 3D graphics, immersive environments, and thought-provoking puzzles, gamers everywhere were spellbound by Lara’s adventures. The original D-Pad controller provided precise control as players navigated Lara through treacherous terrains. Tomb Raider elegantly showcased the synergy of PlayStation’s capabilities, CRT displays, and intuitive D-Pad controls, laying the foundation for Lara Croft’s enduring legacy. Play Video The franchise found a home on PlayStation thanks to Tomb Raider’s success. Tomb Raider II and III’s console versions were exclusive to the platform, further solidifying the link between Lara Croft and PlayStation. The relationship between the two is as legendary as Lara’s expeditions, filled with adventure, mystery, and discovery. Lara Croft has left an unforgettable legacy on PlayStation consoles, and her journey is far from over. The iconic hero’s epic adventures will now be beautifully presented on PS4 & PS5 with enhanced graphics, allowing longtime fans and brand-new players to experience the timeless magic of the Tomb Raider franchise like never before. Not only will the original three games be remastered, but players will be able to experience the corresponding expansions for each entry for the first time on consoles. Unfinished Business – In these two expert levels, Lara has discovered the ruined segment of an alien city, allegedly containing an alien hatchery. She must destroy the aliens before they infest the world. The Gold Mask – Four action-packed levels previously available online only. Lara explores an abandoned mine shaft in Alaska and discovers a strange and hidden world. Many surprises await as Lara uncovers the secret of the Golden Mask. The Lost Artifact – Six levels unveil the dramatic conclusion of events set in motion in Tomb Raider Ill. Lara is searching for the fifth artifact, rumored to be the legendary Hand of Rathmore. It is the key to unlocking the final secret of the ancient meteor’s powers. From the treacherous tombs of Peru in the original Tomb Raider to the awe-inspiring sights of Venice in Tomb Raider II and the mystical realm of India in Tomb Raider III, players will embark on a nostalgic journey filled with breathtaking landscapes and ingenious puzzles. Dust off your gear, sharpen your wits, and prepare to step into Lara Croft’s adventurous shoes once again as we accompany Lara on her original globe-trotting expeditions. The Tomb Raider series is full of secrets, traps, tricks, and collectibles. One of our favorites is finding Lara’s secret treasure room in Tomb Raider II. We’ve compiled a few tips and tricks below to aid in your adventures: Tomb Raider I In Level 3: Lost Valley, your objectives contain five secrets hidden on temple rooftops or inside secret waterfalls. A hidden shotgun will be key to taking out the dinosaurs you’ll encounter throughout this zone. Once obtained, collect the three gears needed to open the entrance to the Tomb of Qualopec. Tomb Raider II Throughout the game, there are various secret pickups hidden in different levels. You need to collect all of them. Secrets are typically hidden in hard-to-reach places or behind breakable walls. Use your keen observation skills to find them. You can access the inventory menu to check your progress in collecting secrets. Continue playing through the game until you reach the final level called Home Sweet Home.
