  1. Welcome to the mission!  Hi, I’m Will Doyle, the director of Directive 8020 at Supermassive Games. We’ve just revealed our action-packed story trailer during State of Play and announced the game will launch October 2 on PS5. I’m thrilled to take you deeper into the dangers that you’ll face onboard the Cassiopeia. The team at Supermassive Games has worked tirelessly to craft a narrative experience that melds sci-fi exploration with spine-chilling horror, where every choice could lead to a disastrous death.  Today we’re unveiling some new layers to our story, exploring fragile alliances, unseen threats, and the limits of human resilience when faced with our deepest fears. We’re venturing into uncharted territory: the unsettling abyss of space.   Play Video A deadly mission Earth is dying, and humankind is seeking a new home in the stars. The Cassiopeiais the initial survey ship sent to scout our chosen planet.Think of it as a test run: the Cassiopeiais fully outfitted as a colony craft but is flying with a vastly reduced crew. Their mission is to test every procedure onboard without ever touching down on the planet they’ve been sent to orbit. However, people familiar with our games will know that our characters never have it easy and in Directive 8020 it will all start to go wrong very quickly and with very deadly consequences.   The crew awakens from their four-year hyper sleep to a hull breach, a murder, and some extremely suspicious crew activity – all of which culminates in the ship crash landing on the planet. Across the game, you’ll explore the claustrophobic, stranded wreck of the Cassiopeia. It is a dark, terrifying location that is slowly being consumed by something entirely alien. You’ll navigate broken rooms, desolate corridors and vents, and even negotiate the inhospitable terrain of the planet itself, never knowing what lurks round the next corner. Alien invasion In the trailer we reveal that the ship is infected with an alien organism. Unfortunately for our crew, this organism can transform into any one of them. While you may be human, others in your crew may not be, and killers can hide behind familiar eyes. We’ve added new stealth mechanics to evade these deadly foes: enemies can emerge from anywhere onboard the ship, and you’ll need to sneak and hide to get past the alien stalkers. Brave recruits In this trailer we also reveal some of the Cassiopeia’s crew – in the coming months, we’ll tell you more about them and why they decided to join the mission. However, as paranoia and fear builds, so does distrust among the crew – who will YOU trust? You’ll control five members of this crew over the course of this expedition. With their lives in your hands, your decisions will determine not only their fates, but all of humanities too. Verify your age to view this content. Verify your age to view this content. New mechanics To improve your chances of your survival, we’ve introduced several new tools. Throughout the game, you can use these to locate secrets, solve puzzles, and overcome enemies. Most of your tools are linked to a multifunctional utility strap your character wears on their wrist. The strap also controls a shoulder-mounted flashlight – but you’ll need to be careful using this, as the aliens can spot the beam. As is to be expected in one of our games, you’ll spend a lot of time creeping around in the dark! You’ll also have a scanner at your disposal for detecting electronics and remotely activating systems. If you’re trying to stay under the radar, your messenger lets you communicate and strategize with your crewmates from afar. Lastly, we’ve added a “wedge tool”, it’s really made for opening doors but as a last resort can also be used a weapon to temporarily stun the aliens, giving you a chance to slip away and evade death. Directive 8020 is all about survival, so every tool has its purpose in helping you think on your feet. Verify your age to view this content. Verify your age to view this content. The Dark Pictures Fans of our previous games will be pleased to know that the DNA of the Dark Pictures is still present – in fact, everything you love about the Dark Pictures is still here, from branching plotlines through to impossible choices and split second QTEs. But as you’ll see, we’ve redesigned, polished, and amped up our gameplay to bring more of a threat when exploring the environment. We know fans who are old and new will love this new vision for the series. Join us this October, but beware, for in space, death takes many forms!   Wishlist today on PS5! View the full article
  2. Elden Ring Nightreign, a new co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe, comes to PS5 and PS4 on May 30. Elden Ring Nightreign is an all-new standalone adventure by FromSoftware that thrusts players into co-op multiplayer PvE combat to take on the creeping night and the dangers within. We recently got the chance to participate in the upcoming network test* ahead of its public release on February 14, so read on for our first impressions of our journey into the perilous realm of Limveld. *The network test is based on a build still under development. Various elements of the game, such as specs, names, and parameters, may differ from the final product. Verify your age to view this content. Verify your age to view this content. Experience fast-paced gameplay that encapsulates the best elements of RPGs Elden Ring was mainly a single player experience, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Take your time, and, provided you’ve tucked yourself away in a safe location, you’re able to put the controller down to leave your room. By contrast, Elden Ring Nightreign’s focus on three-player co-op survival action means you must always be alert and aware of your squad’s movements, regardless of whether you’re working together or strike out to explore separately. This is because of Nightreign’s Night’s Tide mechanic, which steadily contracts your explorable play area over time, with every session concluding with you coming face to face with a powerful boss. It is crucial then to strengthen and upgrade your characters and party by nightfall to prepare for the boss fight, so you’ll need to get used to the fast-paced gameplay and split-second decision-making. Examples include wall jumping and traversing the air by holding onto Spectral Hawks. You also won’t take any fall damage no matter how far you fall or jump. Furthermore, you can sprint by holding down L3, in addition to the regular dash. The sprint is comparable in speed to Torrent, the spectral steed from Elden Ring. It almost felt like I was speed-running the game when I was wall-jumping and lunging off cliffs without worrying about fall damage. Overall, the game delivers a fresh new experience reminiscent of the original Elden Ring, while feeling unique. Attack your fellow Nightfarers to revive them If you are near death during battle, your teammates can rescue you by attacking you. You can also lock-on to a downed player, so you can rescue them from a safe distance with a long-range attack. A rescue is complete when the dying player’s meter is reduced. If a player goes down repeatedly, the meter will get longer, making it harder to complete the rescue. During the day, if players aren’t rescued in time, they die and respawn afterward. At night, players do not die. Instead, they remain incapacitated/”near death” until they are rescued. The meter resets when you visit a Site of Grace. The sting of death hits differently in Elden Ring Nightreign compared to the original game, as it means you’ll be putting your co-op partners at risk. Challenging foes make for satisfying battles and triumphs While there are a number of differences between Elden Ring and Elden Ring Nightreign, the palpable sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming a boss is still potent. The game is undeniably challenging, like Dark Souls and Elden Ring, but learning from trial and error will help you progress through each challenge. We failed the first four of our five attempted runs. After each loss, we ventured out further to explore more of the map, and spent time strategizing and studying the bosses’ moves until we finally managed to take it down in the final session. One run (a three day-and-night cycle) takes about 35-40 minutes to complete, and we were able to complete five runs during our four-hour hands-on, and we defeated the Nightlord on the third day of our final session. I couldn’t help myself from doing a small fist pump when it was over. The thrill of joining forces to overcome challenges It took some time to get the hang of co-op, but rescuing a near-death teammate is an easy way to contribute to the team, and you can help strengthen other players by offering them a weapon you acquired if it is better suited for them. Though each Nightfarer can venture out on their own, exploring and facing challenges is best as a team. My team found success when we dropped pins on the map to make sure we were all headed towards the same direction, tackled major overworld enemies together, and made sure to upgrade our flasks at the churches. This strategy set us up for a better Nightlord fight on the third day. As we progressed, my squad mates got a better hang of their characters so they could leverage their unique abilities and Ultimates more effectively. I enjoyed the sense of solidarity that came from working as a team, and that feeling is one of the best parts about playing a co-op game. Elden Ring Nightreign launches May 30 on PS5 and PS4. 6. We live to fight, Legends. This season we’re showing that the community rules all as some of your favorite creators are taking over content and competition. These Creator Commissioners will create challenges based on their own Apex experiences, with fresh and unique items available to earn. Gear up with Arsenals, new shops stocked with everything you need to hit the battlefield immediately. All of this, plus the addition of Legend updates and bold meta changes, we’ve planned quite the party this season. But that’s not all we’re celebrating: our Anniversary Event kicks off along with the new season with even more community created content and the debut of the Mythic R-301. Apex Legends: Takeover launches on February 11. Creator Commissioners Four different Creator Commissioners will take the reins for two weeks each, along with their own challenges to conquer, new and returning fan-favorite modes, and fresh rewards. On week one, work with other players to complete Community challenges and ultimately determine how many Apex Packs will be up for grabs the following week. On week two, it’s time to really earn those rewards. Work through five individual challenges to unlock a creator-selected Legendary weapon skin and the Apex Packs you chased in the first week. Participating in week one doesn’t automatically earn you rewards in week two, so you’ll want to jump into matches in the second week too. Creator Commissioners and their Legendary choices: February 25 – March 10, 2025: Ninjayla Legendary skin: Wingman’s Death Ray March 11 – 24, 2025: Oraxe Legendary skin: Kraber’s The Pioneer April 1-14, 2025: Apryze Legendary skin: Mastiff’s Bone Breaker April 15 – 28, 2025: Kaminari Kyupi Legendary skin: Mastiff’s Tombstick Arsenals This new addition to Battle Royale provides easy and consistent access to weapons and ammo of your choice. Stations will be located across all POIs on every map with fixed locations, but with random ammo types per match. Arsenals will also provide relevant ammo and the ability to enhance weapons. You can enhance one weapon per Arsenal and that weapon must match the Arsenal’s ammo type. Doing so will grant an upgraded attachment and provide an optic if the weapon is missing one. When bins reset, so too do Arsenals—giving you the ability to upgrade again with higher potency. The amount of ammo also significantly increases after a reset. Meta changes Everything changes this season with fresh meta updates that you’ll want to check out ASAP. Most notably, all weapon classes are getting adjusted to feel more competitive with Assault Rifles. Be aware that the time-to-kill has been decreased, not only due to these weapon adjustments, but also thanks to updates to Armor, Helmets, and headshot multipliers. Legends also get some nifty new updates: the Assault class is getting handy new perks, and both Ash and Ballistic are getting some special attention. We’ve also made some adjustments to regen items to ensure you still have a fighting chance while taking on these lethal changes. Legend Spotlight Passes Complete challenges with the new Legend Spotlight Pass to increase your proficiency with a potential new Legend, and earn rewards as you progress through twenty levels to the ultimate goal: a Legendary skin pack for that Legend. You can purchase one per season per Legend in the in-game store, and it will also unlock the Legend if you haven’t already. Takeover launches February 11, 2025. View the full article
  7. Early 2024 the fight for galactic liberty reached new heights when, on February 8, Helldivers 2 blasted off into the stratosphere and became the new star of PlayStation 5. Since its launch, the third-person squad-based shooter has become a firm favourite with fans, scooping a clip-load of awards throughout the year. And what a year it ended up being – from brutal new foes to staggering mech suits, Arrowhead pretty much hit the target every time. So, grab a steaming cup of liber-tea and join Game Director Mikael Eriksson for a chronological, intergalactic jaunt through what made Helldivers 2 such an explosive hit. Play Video February 2024 – launch and the epic battle of Malevelon Creek The continuation of the Galactic War in Helldivers 2 not only brought with it a fresh gameplay perspective, but also one of the key elements to the game’s appeal – building a community worthy of interstellar peacekeeping. “One of the things we really wanted to hone in on was making a game that’s exciting and will create great moments that you can look back on with your friends and laugh or reminisce about,” explains Eriksson. To that end, Helldivers 2’s emergent, often unpredictable systemic gameplay is partnered with social aspects that means players create a constant feedback loop of engagement. Videos and social media posts of random events, friendly fire, accidental deaths and the dramatic stakes of alien warfare already started being shared from launch day. Which was all part of the developer’s vision statement, shared by Eriksson: “Improvise, adapt, and overcome challenges that push your abilities to the max as you forge friendships through the joy of shared laughter and the thrill of clutch moments.” This was immediately highlighted in the ‘Massacre of Malevelon Creek’ – an ill-fated mission where players were tasked to defend a planet from an Automaton threat. The Helldivers failed. Badly. What resulted from this doomed fight were social media memes, rallying calls, and a desire for revenge which pulled even more players into the game. “It was incredible to watch,” says Eriksson. “We didn’t even think that the battle for Malevelon Creek would be anything special, but players themselves were really running with it, driven by the huge losses of Helldivers down on the planet. It became a shared experience.” “This battle was the first time we stood back and said, ‘wow, what have we created?’” March 2024 – new enemies, missions, and stratagems The Galactic War well on its way and the number of enlistees growing, Super Earth’s quest for liberty began to take shape with new elements dropped into the game alongside fresh event missions. The bug-like Terminids added flying Shriekers to their ranks, while the Helldivers evened the odds with the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon, MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun, and the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit – the latter a reward for the liberation of Tien Kwan. “I was nervous,” says Eriksson. “We had spent so much time making the Exosuit as good as we could, and now it was down to the community’s ability to actually earn it. What if they’d fail? But eventually they unlocked it… and then all tried to claim it at the same time!” Play Video Players also were making full use of the Galactic War Table, which gave players valuable summaries of the ever-evolving conflict, and gave them an idea of where next to *ahem* spread democracy. This tapped into another key factor of Helldivers 2’s creation. “We consider the Galactic War as a tabletop roleplaying game, which is our main inspiration,” says Eriksson. “We created a Dungeon Master style concept [ called Joel] who controls various factions and respond to the often-surprising player actions, so the player-driven narrative is as much about you guys playing with us as it is about us playing with you. It’s a crazy way to make a video game, but we love it.” April 2024 – Helldivers strike back A month of great victory. Malevelon Creek was avenged with a decisive liberation of the jungle planet, resulting in April 3rd declared as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day. By Super Earth presidential decree, all Helldivers were granted a commemorative cape, and citizens were given a generous three minutes of remembrance (during their lunch break). In retaliation, the Automatons mounted a full-scale attack… which the Helldivers crushed immediately. The hilariously swift victory didn’t go unnoticed by Arrowhead. “The players performed vastly better than we had planned for,” admits Eriksson. “One of the delights of working on a game where the players have this much agency is that it always keeps us on our toes.” Of course, somehow, the Automatons returned… Play Video May & June 2024 – more mechs and mission malfunctions The heavy-duty introduction of the EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit allowed players to celebrate their dominance over the resurgent Automatons. This was a stark contrast to the repeated failure of the Helldivers’ attempts to succeed in tasks designed to aid the construction of MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines. By June, the Helldivers were given a choice: attempt to retrieve vital materials from Marfark to finally earn the Anti-Tank Mines, or head to Vernen Wells to save stranded civilians inside Super Citizen Anne’s Hospital for Very Sick Children. The Corps chose the latter, giving up their third chance to gain the Anti-Tank Mines. However, in the real-world, Arrowhead was so impressed by this display of morals, that the developer donated $4,311 to the Save the Children charity. July & August 2024 – Freedom for all After the anti-tank rocket launcher MLS-4X Commando was added to the Helldivers’ arsenal in July, August saw two big milestones: the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines were finally unlocked despite yet another Major Order failure, and the massive Escalation of Freedom update. The latter arrived with a number of tweaks and balances, a higher difficulty preset, new mission objectives, and the addition of the Impaler, Automaton Rocket Tanks, Reinforced Scout Strider, Alpha Commander, and Spore Charger threats. For those seeking a new planet to discover, the swamp planet biome was also added, while armour-reducing acid storms provided a fresh environmental hazard for both players and enemies. Play Video September to November 2024 – a celebration of liberty The Helldivers’ courageous liberation of Tarsh and Mastia in September saw the Orbital Napalm Barrage stratagem unlocked, which was followed by the glory of Liberty Day on October 26 and the delivery of a free weapon and armour load to all in the celebration of Super Earth’s tireless quest for universal freedom. By the time November rolled around, the focus had been shifted to the powerful Democracy Space Station becoming operational via the successful killing of 500 million Terminids. However, these successes and celebrations were short-lived… Play Video December 2024 to February 2025 – Illuminating the future The return of the dreaded and ancient Illuminate flipped everything on its head, marked by the Omens of Tyranny update in December. Along with more tweaks, joining the reemergence of this deadly foe were new colony missions and the ability to call upon the Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle (FRV), capable of ploughing through some of the lighter enemies. Omens of Tyranny was a major landmark for Arrowhead, with the team launching it at The Game Awards as they scooped Best Ongoing Game and Best Multiplayer Game gongs. “Working in the studio, the success of the game can sometimes seem abstract,” says Eriksson. “Going to award shows, actually meeting real people talking about their experiences, is amazing. It makes me realize that we’re actually having an impact on people’s lives. “We see it as a huge responsibility. It tells us that we have to keep making this game the very best multiplayer experience it can be, and keep raising the bar and the expectations.” And with the fight ongoing, there’s still plenty more surprises to come in Helldivers 2. “We’re just getting warmed up,” says Eriksson. “Expect drama, mounting threats (new and old) and, of course, the unexpected. “We’re really honoured that people are having a great time in Helldivers 2, and from our point of view, this is just the beginning.” More on Helldivers 2 1/2Now showing slide 1 of 2Show all Play Video Helldivers 2: how Arrowhead turned the twin-stick shooter original into a bombastic PS5 sequel View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image How the names Arrowhead Game Studios and Helldivers 2 came to be View the full article

  11. Let’s be honest, Helldivers: Super Earth is worth it. No matter what “it” is. All Helldivers share this belief, and fanatical loyalty is expected from all citizens of Super Earth. But the Helldivers need to demonstrate their allegiance. They need to look like the democratic disciples they are inside, and the only way we know to properly show it off is with the gear from our next Warbond*: Servants of Freedom which launches on February 6. Play Video So what does true devotion to Democracy look like? Hellbombs. It looks like Hellbombs. They really send a message: liberation is big, loud, and happening all around you. It gets the spirit of democracy soaring, and gets a lot of other things soaring, too, like buildings, Bile Titans, and Automaton industrial sites. Now, imagine you’ve got that kind of freedom strapped to your back. That’s the B-100 Portable Hellbomb, a beacon of democratic truth in a convenient backpack format, which can be easily activated by you or a helpful teammate. Just be sure to drop the pack and clear the area once it’s active, because the B-100’s got a ten-second countdown that can’t be canceled. How do you make the Sickle do more? Overclock it and bring some heat. The LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle is pure agony meets ecstasy as it starts to burn the wielder as well as everything in its path. Shoot through the pain, Helldiver. To help you spread liberty around, you could equip the GP-20 Ultimatum–a front-loading grenade pistol for your secondary slot. The Ultimatum packs a punch like a grenade launcher on steroids, designed for closer-range use. But handle it with care, or you might accidentally liberate yourself along with the enemy. There’s a new kind of throwable in Servants of Freedom, too. The G-50 Seeker is a small drone that follows you and explodes near enemies when detected. The Seeker can also target pinged enemies, like sending it on a little crusade. The IE-3 Martyr and the IE-12 Righteous medium armors have robe and cloak-inspired details and come equipped with the Integrated Explosives passive, which gives every Helldiver protection against becoming Voteless: Upon death, your corpse will detonate and take out the enemies around you. Nobody’s going to control your mind, soldier. These armors also have helmets with stoic faces to stare down the onslaught without fear. Show no weakness, Helldiver. Then drape yourself in symbolic reminders of your enlistment oath by pairing these sets with the Fre Liberam and Per Democrasum capes. For the full effect, you can also equip the Servant of Freedom player title and equip the Raise Weapon cheer and look like a real follower of democratic values. Become one of Super Earth’s most faithful fighters and show the squad your fervor for Managed Democracy with the Servants of Freedom Warbond on February 6! *Requires base game, paid purchase of Super Credits, and game progression to unlock. This Season brings back some of your favorite OG POIs like Shifty Shafts, Junk Junction, and of course, Tilted Towers. Unleash your inner Fort Knight as Fortnite’s new OG Season will bring back OG loot like the Boogie Bomb, Minigun, and more. Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 2 starts today and wraps up March 25, 2025. Let’s dive in a little more on what to expect from this blast from the past: Play Video Revisit your old haunting grounds at these Chapter 1 Season 2 POIs: Go Full Tilt at Tilted Towers Ah, Tilted Towers, the concrete jungle…, it’s a beautiful sight with its towering high-rises. This fan-favorite POI is home to Chests, high vantage points, and danger. Not to mention, it’s loot-a-palooza with the slew of apartment complexes and offices. Let’s be honest, we all know you’re gonna drop here first.. And potentially 99 of your opponents. Find your function at the Junk Junction A plethora of loot awaits you in this scrapyard paradise, but stay alert— at Junk Junction, every car stack and rubbish pile could be obscuring a sneaky opponent. Be sure to stop by (or harvest) the iconic Metal Llama on your way out. Hide or shriek at the Haunted Hills The dilapidated Haunted Hills lurk just below Junk Junction on the Island. It is full of abandoned tombs, crumbling architecture, and probably creeping opponents, too. Cause chaos at Snobby Shores Snobby Shores is the perfect place to be as unneighborly as possible.. Rumor has it there’s an underground bunker hiding in this upscale community… Will you be the first to find it? Hit paydirt at the Shifty Shafts Shift to the past, shift into Shifty Shafts. This POI has a labyrinth of tunnels waiting to be explored. Navigating the tunnels may lead to some close-quarters combat, but considering the amount of loot down here, it’s high risk, high reward. Swimmin’ in a reminiscin’ loot pool Throughout OG Chapter 1 Season 2, the loot pool will expand with gear from the classic Chapter 1 Season 2: Small Shield Potion (live now.) – Want to quickly pump up your Shield? This is your go-to drink, offering 25 Shield each ‘til you’re at 50. Multi-Surface Damage Trap (live now.) – Get to the point. This funky orb unleashes a momentary, disco-fueled dance party on your foes. (And yourself if you’re not careful.) Suppressed Pistol – Get the drop on your opponents, stealthy style.. Be quick on the draw and even quicker on the reload to make the most of this sneaky sidearm. Cozy Campfire – Nothing’s better than sitting ‘round the campfire with your squad. Huddle around this benign Trap and restore your HP for up to 25 seconds at 2 HP per second. Chug Jug – It’s comforting to have this beverage in your back pocket (even though it’s probably really heavy).Yes, it takes quite a bit to consume, but it grants full Health and full Shield. Minigun – Mow down the scenery with the Minigun. . Don’t get carried away though — firing for too long will make you vulnerable due to the Minigun’s prolonged cooldown period. Crossbow – Let arrows fly with the Crossbow. Fun fact: The Crossbow was first introduced as Cupid’s Crossbow before becoming the Crossbow in Season 3. Impulse Grenade – How you use this item will likely depend on your inner impulse. Will you be defensive and launch yourself away from incoming attacks, or be offensive and send enemies off high places towards elimination? Unlock costalgia-infused rewards in the Chapter 1 Season 2 OG Pass An all-new OG Pass is here with 45 tiers of rewards based on the classic Chapter 1 Season 2. 17. Gran Turismo players! This month’s Gran Turismo 7 update delivers a wide range of cars, from the original Gran Turismo F3500-A formula car to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N ’24. Update 1.55* for Gran Turismo 7 is available as of Wednesday, January 29 at 10:00pm PT / January 30 at 6:00am GMT / 3:00pm JST. Play Video *Internet connection and Gran Turismo 7 game required for update. 4 new cars added this month Gran Turismo F3500-A (Can be purchased from Brand Central) An original formula car created in the image of classic F1 cars. The F3500-A is a Gran Turismo original formula machine born from a deep admiration for early 1990s F1 cars. Looking at its construction, the chassis is made from negative molded carbon fiber which was the style at the time. The suspension arrangement also uses a classic layout, featuring horizontally mounted shock absorbers actuated by pushrods and bell cranks. The power unit is a light and compact 3.5L naturally aspirated V12. Using pneumatic valves, it can reach 15,000 rpm, and variable length funnels on the intake system ensure ample torque across the rev range. The screaming sound of the exhaust at high RPMs is a unique quality of naturally aspirated systems that cannot be recreated with turbochargers. The transmission is a 6-speed semi-automatic box with paddle shifters, which has been mounted laterally to avoid any interference with the shape of the rear diffuser. Looking towards the aerodynamics, the monocoque uses a high nose design. Unlike modern front wings which tend to hang down from struts, this one uses an anhedral design where the wing spreads out diagonally from under the nose. There are several different wings, both front and rear, as well as engine cowl shapes available, allowing you to customize the car to your personal tastes. In 1987, the Civic received a full model change, bringing the series into its fourth generation. Often known as the ‘Grand Civic’ or simply by its model code ‘EF’. The exterior retains the broad strokes of the previous model while adding modern touches to the slightly larger body. One of the largest changes was the overhauled platform which brought with it a new 4-wheel double wishbone suspension setup. The wheelbase was also lengthened significantly, allowing drivers to enjoy the car’s sporty handling with more stability. The lineup retained the same 4 body variations as before, a 3-door hatchback, 4-door sedan, and a 5-door shuttle along with the ‘Pro’ commercial model. Another carryover from the previous generation was the ‘Si’ sport models featuring 1.6L DOHC inline-4 engines. Additionally, this generation saw the introduction of the ‘Si Extra’ grade, which added a rich suite of equipment to the Si formula. The ZC engine received extensive tuning to increase the compression ratio, reduce airflow restriction on intake and exhaust, and reduce piston friction among other improvements. The result was a maximum power output of 128.2 BHP and 14.7 kgfm torque net. The previous ‘Wonder Civic’ era boasted 133.1 BHP and 15.5 kgfm however these were gross figures. Net figures are typically 15% less than gross, which means that the new ZC unit was more powerful. The Si and Si Extra models also saw extensive use in arenas like the Japan Touring Car Championship (JTC). Starting from the 1988 season, the car would receive its first race victory in Round 3 before going on to win the drivers title and manufacturers title. The car would prove its strength once again in the 1989 season where it would take the manufacturers title again. The IONIQ 5 debuted in 2021 as Hyundai’s first electric only model. The car already had a clean modern look and excellent usability, but the real star of the lineup would come in 2023 with the introduction of the N model. For Hyundai, the N stands for the two facilities where this car was developed, Namyang in Korea and the Nürburgring in Germany, which speaks for the car’s performance. With the addition of this name, the IONIQ 5 was transformed into the embodiment of driving pleasure. The drivetrain is a four-wheel drive system with motors on each of the front and rear axles. These provide a combined power output of 478 kW (641 BHP) / 770 Nm (78.5 kgfm) in overboost mode. Additionally, the system allows for adjustment of the front-to-rear power distribution, which makes it possible to drift the over 2 ton body when set to a rear power bias. A virtual dual-clutch transmission is also provided using regenerative braking power, with further driving euphoria provided by simulated exhaust sound. The IONIQ 5 N also features a multitude of exclusive furnishings on both interior and exterior. This monster of a car pushes the boundaries of what is possible for BEVs. Toyota has produced a number of world cars, such as the Corolla and the Yaris. In 2016, Toyota released a new global car developed for the 21st century, the C-HR. The car’s most notable feature is its compact crossover SUV design. In order to meet the needs of people’s various lifestyles, Toyota developed an all-new model that combines the comfort and space of an SUV with the active character of a coupe. The origins of this model lie in Toyota’s new generation TNGA platform which was first employed in 2015 on the 4th generation model Prius. The suspension features a newly developed strut system on the front end, with a double wishbone setup on the rear. On top of this, sits a coupe style body featuring a complicated series of faceted surfaces. For the power unit, the car is available with the same 1.8L hybrid engine as the 4th generation Prius or a downsized 1.2L 4- cylinder turbo engine. The former is provided as a front-wheel drive powertrain and the latter as four-wheel drive. The S model featured here is hybrid entry grade model for the Japanese market which features 17-inch wheels. Exactly as Toyota had planned, the C-HR found support in areas all over the globe, and soon became a bestseller. 18. Hey everyone, we’re just one day away from bringing the latest epic chapter in the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise to PC, where you’ll battle as Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, against a rogue’s gallery of iconic Marvel Super Villains, including the monstrous Venom and the ruthless Kraven the Hunter. With the game launching soon, I’m excited to share more about the awesome new PC-enhanced features the team at Nixxes has been working on. Play Video Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, created by Insomniac in collaboration with Marvel, is a technological and graphical showcase utilizing tools like ray-tracing to bring the city of Marvel’s New York to life. On PC, you’ll encounter a variety of new ray-tracing options with individual quality settings to finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations. Ray-traced reflections quickly catch your eye in the skyscraper-filled city of Marvel’s New York as you swing along its many glass surfaces. Meanwhile, we’re offering ray-traced interiors, shadows, and ambient occlusion options that add an additional layer of believability with realistic shadows and increased depth to the game. If you have a high-performance PC with Super Hero-tier hardware, you can take advantage of our increased raytracing geometry detail setting. This enables the use of higher quality meshes for raytracing, resulting in more detailed and realistic reflections. You can also use the raytracing object range slider to increase the range at which objects are considered for raytracing. Furthermore, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC includes NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction1, which improves raytracing quality on supported hardware. Let me introduce you to Menno Bil, Graphics Programmer at Nixxes, to tell you more about this feature: Players with ultra-wide monitors can enjoy full support for ultra-wide aspect ratios such as 21:9, 32:9 and even 48:9 when using triple monitor setups. Our team of engineers and artists worked hard on ensuring all cinematics in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are adapted to be fully viewable in aspect ratios up to 32:9. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC also supports various performance-enhancing technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1 upscaling and frame generation.* Intel XeSS upscaling is also supported.1 With options like raytracing and ultra-wide support, we want to give players the chance to make full use of their high-end PC gaming rigs. However, at Nixxes we also take pride in making PC games scale down to prior generation hardware. 22. Hello! Today we are releasing one of our biggest updates for No Man’s Sky. We can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on. Last year, we released No Man’s Sky Worlds Part I (5.0) for PS4, PS5, and PS VR2 players, and it was one of our most successful to date. We’ve been planning the changes in Worlds Part II for a long time, and the wait is finally over. Play Video One of the biggest reasons people play No Man’s Sky is for that sense of adventure and discovery, that feeling of flying to a planet, and landing to explore, knowing no one has ever been there before. With Worlds Part II, we added billions of new star systems and trillions of new planets to the universe. This allows us to push the boundaries of our engine and technology without changing the things people love about the game already. If you settled on your home planet with a beautiful base that you lovingly crafted, that is safe – but now there are new worlds to explore with a level of variety no one has seen before. Going to these new systems travelers will notice new terrain, new biomes, new flora, and new fauna. There’s a new terrain system that I’ve been working on for a while now. There are huge mountains to climb, oceans that are kilometers deep to discover, and caverns and canyons at a scale that wasn’t possible before. In these systems you may even find enormous Gas Giants. These huge worlds can be ten times bigger than any other planet you have explored previously. Gas Giants and deep oceans both require high-level technology to explore. Gas storms, deep sea pressure, and anomalies bring new hazards and challenges to No Man’s Sky. Water gameplay has much added depth too, including improvements to our submarine, The Nautilus, as well as improvements to fishing and deep sea diving systems. New ocean tech allows water to react physically to the world around it. Dimples appear when it rains and wake appears as ships fly over the surface, and creatures and players can wade through creating waves. Our lighting system has been completely rewritten. Shadows show more details, sunlight and ambient occlusion are sharper, and sunlight sparkling through leaves and metals looks crisp and beautiful. Starry night skies and wispy clouds reflect in the water of lakes and oceans. A lot of this new technology comes from learnings and hard work on our next big fantasy game, Light No Fire, which is keeping our small team incredibly busy. As well as new solar systems and new technology Worlds Part II brings a lot of new adventures. This update introduces a large strand of new quests and lore connecting up some of the storylines and mysteries we have been building to for a long time. Those who relish unearthing the collective knowledge of the No Man’s Sky universe have a lot to dig into. There is also a whole new expedition to accompany this major update which deliberately serves as a guided tour to some of the best new additions to Worlds Part II. The rewards for completing this awe-inspiring journey are really special too. Not least is a brand new spacecraft which is a cross between a living ship and a jet fighter. It’s pretty wild! The Worlds Part II update is a signal to the PlayStation community that 2025 is going to be a very exciting year for No Man’s Sky. Whether you play on PS5, PS4, or PS VR2, there’s a lot to look forward to from this tiny but still energised team. We’re so thrilled to be able to keep working on this game we all love so much. Our journey continues. View the full article
  23. The Dreadnaught has returned. The fabled Hive ship and Throne World to Oryx himself is once again a threat to humanity. It’s under the shadow of this ominous return that Guardians will begin their adventures when Destiny 2: Heresy, the game’s third Episode and final epilogue of the Light and Darkness Saga, launches on February 4. Today, the Destiny team hosted a livestream featuring an in-depth look at what players can expect from Heresy, including exclusive interviews with developers and live gameplay from the Episode. Today we’re covering some of the highlights of Heresy that were featured in today’s show. For even more, check out the livestream recap here. Play Video A menacing return Orbiting the planet Saturn amidst its massive rings, the Dreadnaught never really left the lore of Destiny, serving both as an ominous reminder of Guardians’ previous conflict with Oryx in The Taken King expansion and, later, as a staging ground for the forces of Xivu Arath. With Heresy, the Hive ship will once again return to the forefront. “What’s significant about the Dreadnaught’s return for Heresy is that it’s going to be changing, and we’re going to be fighting through it in ways we’ve yet to experience,” said Destiny 2 Narrative Architect Nikko Stevens. “The Dreadnaught has reawakened for the first time in almost a decade, spurring the Vanguard and Guardians across the system to take notice. We finally get to see what has become of the Dreadnaught years after Oryx was felled and its halls were left to corrode, without a Navigator.” Into The Nether During Heresy, Guardians take the fight into the Dreadnaught itself in a new activity known as The Nether. With an action-packed mix of exploration, combat, as well as gameplay modifiers and escalating difficulty (not to mention some excellent rewards), The Nether promises to keep players on their toes each time they board. “There is a constant surge of Taken forces and corruptive power spilling from the Dreadnaught in Heresy,” said Stevens. “The outpouring of corruption is like an acerbic current that pushes back against Guardian forces attempting to board the Dreadnaught. This is where The Nether comes in.” With a combination of area patrols, multiple bubbles full of challenging enemies, each culminating in heroic boss fights, and all set in the haunted corridors of a metamorphosed Dreadnaught, The Nether activity will find Guardians besieging the sprawling ship to disable its weaponry and prevent the Taken corruption from spreading. With lessons learned from previous rogue-lite experiments in Destiny 2 such as The Coil from Season of the Wish and Deep Dives from Season of the Deep, Guardians can also look forward to a constantly varied experience. For example, after completing a bubble, the Power level of enemies increase. In addition, the activity introduces a new twist to the combat formula in the form of boons that directly affect gameplay. Three types of boons will be available for players to collect: minor, major, and corrupted. Minor boons offer boosts to stats and will stack upon collection. Major boons are acquired by completing a bubble, and though they won’t stack, they offer gameplay-altering benefits such as building up Static Charge stacks by sprinting, ultimately allowing you to unleash a powerful thunderbolt by firing your weapon. Corrupted boons also offer a significant gameplay boost, but also a downside as well. For example, one corrupted boon increases the damage done to targets while also increasing damage taken from sources. “We’ve also experimented with player modifiers, with increased health pools, no regenerating of health, low ammo drops and revive tokens, and a modification on healing in the sandbox over the course of play,” said Destiny 2 Senior Designer Ryan Harris, adding that build crafting is a key to success in the Nether activity. “Players should look to build their loadouts geared for survivability as the game mode modifiers increase health pools of players significantly while also stopping all health regen.” Alongside the new narrative twists as well as new gear and updates, today’s livestream also introduced the newly announced collaboration between Bungie and Lucasfilm Games to bring Star Wars-inspired gear and accessories to Destiny 2. Available with the launch of Heresy are three new armor ornaments (one per Guardian class), each inspired by the soldiers of the Galactic Empire, in addition to a number of Star Wars-inspired accessories. With three Acts coming this Episode, Heresy still has plenty of fun left in the coming months, with new activities, amazing gear to collect, and much more. Heresy is also just the start of a great 2025 for Destiny 2, so be on the lookout for more! Destiny 2: Heresy launches on February 4. View the full article
  24. In 2025, MLB The Show is celebrating its monumental 20th anniversary, a milestone that honors two decades of baseball history, innovation, and unforgettable memories for baseball fans around the world. To mark this special occasion for San Diego Studio and PlayStation Studios, MLB The Show 25 proudly features not one, nor two, but three cover athletes for the first time ever — Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson. These rising stars join a rich history of legendary cover athletes, symbolizing the future of baseball as we celebrate 20 incredible years of the franchise. Paul Skenes’ journey began in high school and continued through college, where he cemented his status as one of the most talented young pitchers in baseball by winning a national championship before being selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2023 MLB Draft. The following season, Skenes made his MLB debut and became the first player in MLB history to start the All-Star Game just one year after being drafted. He capped off an incredible 2024 season by earning National League Rookie of the Year honors and being named to the All-MLB First Team. His story and skillset align perfectly with Road to the Show, where you can chart your own path to greatness. Elly De La Cruz’s meteoric rise from the minors to the majors perfectly captures the excitement of working up to a big league debut and becoming a star. Since making his Major League debut in 2023 with the Cincinnati Reds, Elly has consistently proven to be one of the most electrifying players on the field. He became one of the youngest players in MLB history to hit for the cycle and is renowned for his blazing speed on the bases and his cannon-like arm, further cementing his status as one of the league’s most promising talents. The 2024 All-Star showcases an impressive five-tool skillset and a dynamic switch-hitting approach — exactly what MLB The Show fans dream of when developing or acquiring their starting shortstop in Franchise mode. Rounding out this triple play of talent is the 2023 American League Rookie of the Year, Gunnar Henderson. Selected 42nd overall in the 2019 MLB Draft, Gunnar quickly ascended through the Orioles’ farm system, making his MLB debut late in the 2022 season. Heading into 2023, he was named the #1 prospect on MLB’s Top 100 list. In his first full season in the majors, Gunnar became a cornerstone of the Orioles’ young core, helping lead the team to its first postseason appearance in seven years. His outstanding performance earned him AL Rookie of the Year honors and a Silver Slugger Award. Gunnar’s star continued to rise in 2024, as he was selected to start in the MLB All-Star Game and compete in the Home Run Derby. His MLB journey resonates deeply with MLB The Show fans who strive to dominate head-to-head competition in their pursuit of greatness on the diamond. This time, we’re introducing exclusive tools and fresh new ways to experience these iconic adventures. In this article, we’ll dive into some of these exciting new additions—features that redefine how you’ll engage with Lara’s world and cement this remastered trilogy as a labor of love for both the developers and the fans. Building on the beloved features from the previous trilogy, you’ll still have countless poses to strike and weapons to outfit Lara Croft. This collection features all the Photo Mode resources from the first collection + a slew of new ones for players to discover! Introducing the Flyby Camera Maker One of the most exciting additions to Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered is the Flyby Camera Maker, a tool that empowers players to create their own dynamic, cinematic shots. This feature lets you map out a moving camera path through any scene, opening a world of creative possibilities. Take a look at this video showcasing the new Flyby Camera Maker in action: Play Video As you can see, this tool is incredibly easy to use. Simply place up to 20 cameras along a path wherever you like. Fine-tune your shots by scrolling through your placed camera points and adjust various settings like; Roll, Field-of-View, Zoom, and movement speed. Hit the play button—it’s that easy! It doesn’t stop there—Lara Croft herself can take center stage. Using Photo Mode, you can position her within your custom shot, choosing her stance, expression, weapons, and outfit to match the mood and style of the moment. This tool isn’t just for cinematic enthusiasts—it’s for anyone who’s ever wanted to see the world of Tomb Raider through a filmmaker’s lens. We’ve been blown away by the vast amount of Photo-Mode creations that the community has shared across the internet, and this is our way of adding onto that. If you’re managing resources during an intense boss fight or planning your next move, we hope that the Ammo Counter will keep you sharp and in control. Cutscene skipper We fully realize that this fan-base is very passionate about playing, and playing, and playing these games over and over again. Thus, we wanted to make it a little easier to get through the chit-chat and jump back into the action – totally up to the player’s choice though, of course! If you want to re-watch that cutscene for the 5th time, more power to you! Maybe you’ll unlock some kind of achievement for that…maybe not. Either way, we hope you enjoy having options! New animations Lara Croft’s adventures have always been defined by her agility, elegance, and grace, so in Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered, we’ve introduced extra animations that we hope will breathe fresh life into your gameplay experience! Slide To Run: Continue running after reaching the end of a slope, simply push forwards at the end of a slope. This works with both Tank and Modern control schemes and is toggleable in the Options menu. This was an unused animation from the original games that we’ve restored for the remaster! Hang on a ledge (behind): Press the Action (for tank) or secondary (for Modern) button when close to a ledge behind Lara and she will safely step down to it. Hang on a ledge (front): While walking, press the Action (for tank) or secondary (for Modern) button close to a ledge in front of Lara and she will safely step down to it. Turn around in place: While walking, press the Roll button while Lara is stopped to make her turn in place. This is for Modern controls only!
