The PlayStation social team recently had a chance to play a build of Borderlands 2 on PS Vita, and as the group's resident Borderlandophile, I immediately called dibs. What can I say about this game? It’s Borderlands 2 on the Vita! Controlling Borderlands 2 on PS Vita is a customizable affair: just go into options and remap to your heart’s content. To change a control, tap the action or button (even the abilities assigned to the touch screen or rear touch pad) you want to change, then tap wherever you want the action to be. By default, tapping different areas of Vita's rear touch pad yield a sprint or a melee attack, while a tap on the front screen tosses a grenade or activates your character-specific ability. More...

Hello, everyone! It's been two weeks since the launch of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and by now a lot of you have found your way into the world of Eorzea. You've started on your path to becoming a hero among heroes, and soon you'll discover that even the citizens of Eorzea have to make a living. The currency they require for this is called Gil. Equipment needs to be bought and occasionally repaired, food and potions are required, and teleporting is so damn comfortable, yet expensive... More...

Today, the global racing community honors three-time F1 champion Ayrton Senna on the 20th anniversary of his passing. Working closely with Senna's family and their charitable foundation -- Ayrton Senna's Institute (IAS) -- Polyphony Digital has created an official Ayrton Senna Tribute website and new Senna-inspired Gran Turismo 6 content throughout the month of May. Looking back, making our upcoming action sidescroller Apotheon in the visage of ancient Greek pottery seemed like an obvious choice. Everything is already there. The 2D perspective, the awesome narrative and setting possibilities, heroes fighting monsters and magical goat-men with no pants... All we really had to do was figure out how to make the art on those pots move around and make it into an interesting game. More...

It took well until adulthood to see the creation of the development superforce now known as Breakfall, but we build games on the basis of certain shared common experiences. It was true for the whole team that games were a huge part of our everyday lives as we grew up. Games were a primary source of entertainment, but we also share the common experience of using games as a focal point for our young, proto-nerd social lives. More...

After playing a round of Jamestown, it's probably not surprising to hear that Final Form Games is run by two brothers who grew up playing video games in the early 90's. We spent our Summers plugging quarters into Street Fighter II in the arcades, and our Saturday mornings sitting on the couch, playing games together. More...

While growing up I was always fascinated by space exploration and I was especially fond of the many video games set in space such as Frontier, Starflight, and Privateer. In fact, it's long been a dream of mine to take all of what I enjoyed about those sorts of games and try and create my own game in the genre. Drifter is that game, and now I'm happy to say that another dream of mine is being fulfilled now that Drifter is coming to PS4 and PS Vita. Hello, PlayStation fans! My name is James Petruzzi, and I'm the Producer of Chasm, a procedurally-generated RPG Platformer coming to PS4 later this year. In Chasm, players take up the role of Daltyn, a young soldier sent to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a mining crew in the remote mountain town of Karthas. Upon arrival you learn the town has been cut off from the outside world by supernatural forces. Now trapped, you are left with no option but to explore the mines below the town and uncover the source of the disturbances. Only by gaining new special abilities, evading dangerous traps, and defeating hordes of deadly enemies can you hope to save Karthas -- and possibly the world! More...

Hello, past, present, and future Spelunky fans! I'll keep it short and simple: Spelunky is coming to PS4! We're once again teaming up with BlitWorks, who did a great job on bringing the game to PS3 and PS Vita. For PS4, we want to do even more -- like bump up the graphics to 1080p, let players upload replays to the leaderboards, add more social features to the Daily Challenge, and otherwise take advantage of the PS4's unique hardware. More...

When we began developing Source, we set out to create something completely new and unique, yet deeply versed in the classic Metroidvania adventure game style. To us, a Metroidvania is a special kind of adventure game that has a few main components that need to be just right. First off, there needs to be an expansive, mysterious world to explore. Second, there should be permanent upgrades that are vital to your character's advancement and survival. Lastly, a rich, visual story should unfold simply by playing the game itself. In just a few months of development time we've managed to uncover how we will attempt these familiar traits of the genre, and maybe even evolve them a bit further with Source. More...

It’s been a long road for us at 17-BIT getting Skulls of the Shogun out the door – and we hope you’re ready for what’s set to be the ultimate version of the fast-paced, turn-based strategy game: The Bone-a-Fide Edition, finally coming to PlayStation 4! More...

I’m Tom Happ, the sole programmer-artist-designer-composer person behind Axiom Verge, a 2D side-scrolling action-adventure coming out on PS4 and PS Vita in early 2015. If you’ve not heard of Axiom Verge (or even if you have), the best thing to do is to put on your best pair of headphones and watch the trailer below: More...

I'm glad I didn't go with my original opening paragraph for this post. It just enumerated the reasons Escape Goat 2 sets itself apart from other puzzle platformers out there. I've shown the game to so many people that the shtick is burned in my mind. And ultimately, it's impossible to describe, because the fun of Escape Goat is intangible. Danielle Riendeau from Polygon put it in the most flattering terms: "Escape Goat 2 made me feel brilliant." Could an indie really ask for a better pull quote? More...

One of the problems with making a game about the American Civil War is that it's fairly boring, at least compared to other video game themes. However, I believe that we have solved that problem, through the addition of massive, steam-powered automatons designed for a single purpose: WAR! More...
