[503] Cynical2U Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 If I have the following computer error, "A RAID volume is degraded due to failed hard drives" is there anyone that could possibly tell me what this means and a possible way to fix it? Quote
Guest NEO-X Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raid_array Funny that you posted this today, I had to rebuild a raid today @ work. A raid is essentially the pairing of 2 or more hard drives for the purpose of redundancy. Unless you're running a server, i dont know why you would have a raid array on your personal pc. (For ex.. the one i used is "Adaptec Storage Management Console" IF its degraded it means, that one of the drives might be going bad. You can try to rebuild the array using the raid management software that may have come with the pc, or by booting in to the raid bios (prior to loading your operating system) If you're not familar with pc's, then i'd HIGHLY recommend NOT doing it yourself, and get someone who knows their stuff to do it, since you may potentially lose data, if not done properly. Hope that answers your question Quote
