is it hacked? people want the old version of the PSP because they are easier to hack.

I wasn't aware of a specific "hack" for the psp, besides all the homebrew programs that can be run if the PSP is using the 1.50 operating system or lower (if I remember right). Last time I checked though, you could "downgrade" the psp system even if it wasn't, so that may not be a huge dealbreaker.

  2. With the number of people that play Socom, it's almost assured a significant number of clans will see their name and/or tag copied by another group of individuals at some point. While it doesn't hurt to post these notices, I would think most UF patrons would be (more likely) to take note of another known individual within this community practicing questionable behavior, rather than an unknown with an identical tag.

  3. While I think that Rage has a point, I don't feel "official" Multi-game clans will be a plus, should they become the new trend as time goes on.

Whenever you open yourself to more than one arena, you lose a certain closeness single game clans experience. Some folks might play HAWX but not KZ2. Some might play NHL 09 all night long, while some might think hockey is a joke. You (assumedly) end up recruiting players for a certain game to strengthen your divided presence in the multiple arena's in which you reside to remain competitive... and the clan branches out to the point where you no longer "know" other members with the same tag that you are wearing.

This (from what I've seen) can lead to a general disconnect within the clan, making it easier for players to leave on a whim, increasing turnover.

I think the best way of handling the fact that there are many great games to play online (some arguably better than Socom, which this site has it's roots with) is to choose a "main" game, with required attendance... and branch out from there on a non-required basis during "free" days or whatnot. Anything else seems increase the potential for a weakening of the bond in a given clan. It may be possible to excel in the format with an extremely strong structure and excellent leadership, but obtaining such is easier said than done.

Midnight releases aren't the geek fests everyone makes them out to be...I've picked up my copy of Madden at midnight for the last 4 or so years. We aren't talking about waiting for the newest Harry Potter book. I'd be picking it up tonight if I had the cash to do so....

Shooters may be different... I know Madden definately is... but midnight releases for Halo games, or even RPG games like final fantasy can be like walking into a high school AV club meeting. Just my observations after having been to quite a few, both as an employee and a customer.

  5. I know there's a few here who enjoy 'em...

Last night I picked up Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I played it for a couple of hours, it's the first "good" rpg I've played in a while. Graphics look pretty sweet (I only have a component hookup for the 360 and it still looked awesome), the battle system is a "Next Gen" version of the original games in the series (for those that played them, or their ports on the PSP) and is pretty addicting. It's got 50+ hours of gameplay and is geared towards replay value (I rarely re-play games myself, but I know some jump at the chance).

IGN gave it an 8.0, while game informer gave it a 7. I'd probably agree with IGN.

If you're into turned-based ("JRPG"'s) games I'd highly suggest giving it at least a rental.

  6. While the number of bushes to camp in seems to have been decreased... I think the use of shadow for potential hiding spots has increased. Maybe its the graphical bump up from the old version... or maybe that it's just me playing on an HDTV for the first time... but hiding in the shadows seems to work better than ever online.

The one spot that comes to mind is the dark corner on Frostfire near the huge metal pipes below the Merc spawn. I (personally) never remember that working for me until Confrontation.

  7. Clan “Ravenfall†recently began a recruit experiment, allowing five individuals a tryout, being judged as one group. Only three of the five would be accepted. What none could predict was the sheer level of stupidity of this group of individuals, who seemed hell-bent to make life more difficult for them whenever possible. This is their tale.

Shortly after the tryout began, recruit “Xorcist†found it necessary to take issue with a UC (Unit Commander). Once Undertow caught wind of this, he immediately announced that all recruits were required to proclaim their understanding of respect to the clan’s leaders by reciting "and I'm the Dick Servant of Tool Minion." After every sentence they spoke one Friday. Surely, Undertow thought, this would be the one bump on the road, and everything would be right with the world. Oh, if only it were so…

Unfortunately, the next tactical error for this recruit group would come in the form of a twenty one year old male, with what some might later assume was a mental capacity of someone half that age. I refer, of course, to “Ocelot18â€. This particular recruit thought it would be quite hilarious to point out that Undertow gave his owns clan web address as Ravenfall.com instead of .net. As much a stroke of pure comical genius that must have been in the boy’s mind, it once again put all 4 remaining recruits in quite a precarious position indeed.

They were assigned to tell the UF forum of their apparent lack of mental aptitude to pass through the tryout process, let alone have a successful stint in Ravenfall. How this band of idiots was better suited for the likes of “Gamebattlesâ€, where there screw-ups would blend in and leaves Ravenfall’s good name unblemished. After reading, I’m sure the point is clear.

i might sound dumb' date=' but what is the movie about? general description, i plan on watching it. thanks.

    [/quote']

I watched it some time ago, but as I recall it laid out evidence of a few "fringe" conspiracies/theories regarding:

    1) The concept that Christianity is nothing but a collection of myths borrowed from other earlier religions

    2) The Federal Reserve and its power to control the US Government (something about Jewish folks involved, iirc)

    3) 9/11 and how the attacks were orchestrated by the US Government.

    Interesting? Yes. Far-fetched? Probably.

  9. Ironically...

Today had a high of ~40 degrees here in Anchorage, Alaska. A couple of warm fronts have come through melting a lot of snow. The only problem is that nightime brings temps back to freezing or lower... meaning that every morning for the past few days has meant almost everything (my SUV included) is covered in ice.

    Crazy stuff.
