  2. Over the last few weeks, we’ve explored Forspoken’s spectacular magic-based parkour, and the game’s intense combat system. Today, we’re going to give you a look at the world of Athia itself! When Frey Holland is transported to this new land, she quickly discovers that behind its beauty is a twisted brutality. A phenomenon called the Break has ravaged the land, turning people and animals alike into savage, snarling beasts. As one of the only beings to be seemingly unaffected by this creeping corruption, it falls on Frey to explore the vast landscapes of this ruined world, uncover its secrets and perhaps even become its savior. It’s a big job, and there’s a lot to keep her busy – Athia is full of things to discover, from Monuments and Photo Spots that will test your parkour skills, to hidden dungeons full of powerful enemies. You can get a preview of what to expect in our latest deep-dive video: Play Video Read on, and I’ll tell you more about some of these awesome activities: Monuments https://gfycat.com/yawningdecisivebigmouthbass Monuments are found all over the broken world of Athia, and it’s well worth seeking them out! These sacred stones still store a piece of the Tantas’ power, and if Frey can free them from the corruption of the Break, she’ll be richly rewarded with boosts to her stats! Each monument offers a different boost – some may give you more health, others increase your defense, magic power or more. Of course, while freeing these monuments is straightforward, getting to them is not. Some are easy to find, but others are placed in hard to reach areas that will test your mastery over Frey’s parkour skills. It’s worth the effort though, because that extra power may just be the edge you need in battles ahead… Flashbacks https://gfycat.com/palatableornateeland Some monuments hold challenges called Flashbacks. These take you back in time to an earlier point in Athia’s history, so you can experience how the Break first affected the world. The exact nature of these challenges can vary – some ask you to kill enemies within a time limit, protect citizens against hordes of enemies, or reach a destination with parkour as quickly as possible. Completing Flashbacks will give you Mana (for unlocking new spells) and other rewards. You can replay Flashbacks direct from the map screen – the better you do, the better the reward, so keep trying until you’ve earned everything on offer! Founts of Blessing https://gfycat.com/infantileapprehensivecopperbutterfly These beautiful pools of water are found over the world and bestow Frey with a blessing that boosts her magical skills. You’ll be excited whenever you find one, because they’re a key way to expand Frey’s skills, giving her entirely new spells to work into her repertoire. They have a resonance, so you’ll know if one is nearby. It’s up to you to actually locate it though. Remember – Forspoken rewards the curious and observant. Spellcraft Challenges https://gfycat.com/adorableunhealthyindianhare Another way to upgrade Frey’s magic is through Spellcraft Challenges. Inside Refuges (a safe space, where Frey can rest up and craft items), you’ll find ancient books. These task you with using your abilities in different ways – for example, work a certain parkour move into your traversal a number of times, hit multiple enemies with a single attack and many more varied challenges. Completing Spellcraft Challenges lets you make your abilities more powerful. They’re also a great way to explore the magic system in Forspoken – they may inspire you to use abilities in ways you hadn’t thought of before… Old Coins and Trading Spots https://gfycat.com/difficultclutteredequine As you explore Athia, you’ll sometimes collect Old Coins. These can be found in locked chests or hidden in the nooks and crannies of the beautiful landscapes. You can spend these coins at trading spots to get valuable items that can enhance your crafting and more. Certain people in Cipal will also sometimes request special items from out in the world. If you can find it, and deliver it to them, they’ll reward you for your efforts. Locked Labyrinths https://gfycat.com/imperturbablesoulfulcow Hidden under the ground, all over the world, are Locked Labyrinths. These are very dangerous to explore – comprised of wide rooms and twisting corridors that contain valuable items, crafting materials, and some very dangerous monsters. You’ll have to use all your combat skills, and sometimes some inventive parkour, to make it through to the powerful mini-boss that lurks within. Defeating it won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Partha https://gfycat.com/jadedcomplexilsamochadegu In some safe spaces, such as The Shady Tree pub in Cipal, you can try your hand at rolling a Partha. Partha are dice-like objects, made out of animal bones, and if they land on a symbol, they’ll bestow useful boosts on Frey. For example, roll a spear, and her magical abilities will be strengthened, while a seed gives her the ability to regenerate health. Sadly, these boosts are only temporary, but they can make all the difference when you’re out in the Break. Photo Spots https://gfycat.com/soupydaringestuarinecrocodile Spare a thought for the poor children of Athia. Once they had a whole world to run around in, but thanks to the corrupting touch of the Break, they’re now trapped within the walls of the city of Cipal. They’d love nothing more than to see what the world beyond looks like, and Frey’s the perfect woman to show them. You’ll find photo spots all around the world that highlight this world’s awe-inspiring architecture and stunning landscapes. Use parkour to reach these points and get that perfect shot. The more pictures you take for the kids, the more features you’ll unlock for photo mode. Tantas’ Familiars https://gfycat.com/impossibleselfreliantbasilisk Magical cats! Fuzzy, adorable magical cats! Tantas’ Familiars are usually found prowling around special monuments. If you want to befriend them – and again, they’re magical cats, so why wouldn’t you? – you’ll have to be very careful. These mystical moggies are pretty skittish, so you’ll have to approach them subtly. If you do manage to win their trust, they’ll relocate to refuges, so you can hang out with them any time! Combat Challenges https://gfycat.com/immaterialperfumedkitfox The Break that ravaged Forspoken’s world has mutated its beasts, creating terrifying monsters full of rage and aggression. But among this menacing menagerie are even more corrupted creatures – an ultimate class of Breakbeasts. The sheer scale and power of these creatures has to be seen to be believed. They are perfect predators… and Frey is their prey. Fortunately, she’s not exactly helpless herself. Should you manage to take down one of these super-strong enemies, you’ll be richly rewarded. Once you’ve located one of these creatures, you can take it on at any time. Just be ready – these represent some of the biggest challenges in the game. Only those with the best equipment, the strongest spells and the skill to use them will survive. Are you brave enough? There’s a lot to discover in the vast world of Forspoken, and to say more now would ruin the fun. Frey’s journey across Athia is full of mystery, action and surprises – as you’ll discover yourselves on January 24, 2023, when Forspoken launches for PlayStation 5. Pre-order available at PS Store. 4. Two of the greatest games from the PlayStation Portable era are back – and they’ve had some work done. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion and Tactics Ogre: Reborn aren’t mere remasters – they’re whole new experiences, with enhancements, additional features and much more. For example, Crisis Core – a prequel to the original Final Fantasy VII – has been given a lavish visual upgrade, and its battle system significantly revamped to be faster, smoother and more enjoyable to play. Tactics Ogre: Reborn enhances the critically acclaimed Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together with updated visuals and sound, plus enhancements to the battle and customization systems that make it easier to play, and even more strategically deep. There’s even entirely new content. It was already considered one of the jewels of the tactical RPG genre – now it shines even brighter! But what goes into bringing these once handheld-exclusive games over to modern platforms? With both games arriving in 2022, we gathered the devs to find out! Involved in this discussion are: Yoshinori Kitase (Producer, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion) Mariko Sato (Producer, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion) Hiroaki Kato (Producer, Tactics Ogre: Reborn) Takashi Katano (Director, Tactics Ogre: Reborn) Naoyuki Takahashi (Lead Game Designer, Tactics Ogre Reborn) Play Video Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII and Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together are two of the most acclaimed games released on the PSP. There’s a lot of anticipation about them coming back, especially in new and improved form – but why do it now? Hiroaki Kato (Producer, Tactics Ogre: Reborn): Personally speaking, I’d always had a strong desire to be involved in the development of Tactics Ogre again at some point – especially if I could incorporate some of the feedback from people who played the PSP version. The turning point for me was the development of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age, which I was in charge of. After improving elements of the original game – such as the visuals, and sound, adding new voice recordings, and improving the battle design and playability – I thought: “Maybe I can utilize this knowledge to create a new Tactics Ogre!” That’s when I decided to develop it. Yoshinori Kitase (Producer, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion): If a game’s original hardware is no longer manufactured, it can be difficult to play the title. Crisis Core is an example of that. Of course, it would be possible to use cloud technology to play the game at its original specs, but the truth is that after Final Fantasy VII Remake fans have higher expectations towards the graphics. So, I think that it’s definitely worthwhile remastering the game for current generation platforms in order to meet these expectations. Play Video Of course, it’s also a Reunion for many of you who worked on those original games. You must have some fond memories of that time… Yoshinori Kitase (Producer, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion): I was executive director on the original Crisis Core… but we didn’t have enough game designers back then, so I also joined the creative teams on the ground part way through the development period! I was in charge of several sections that came from the original Final Fantasy VII, such as the level design for inside the Shinra Mansion and the staging for the confrontation between Cloud and Sephiroth in the Nibelheim Reactor. There was a lot of nostalgia working on those (laughs)! Takashi Katano (Director, Tactics Ogre: Reborn): I was the technical director for Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, so I tend to think about the technical aspects. The most memorable moment for me was when the prototypes for the Chariot Tarot and World Tarot were implemented. These features were the biggest challenge from a technical standpoint, as they let you rewind battles and the progression of the game itself. I remember how new it felt to be able to do this! Kato: For that PSP version, we recorded and implemented three songs with a live orchestra: the title song that plays at start-up, the prologue movie song, and the opening movie song. I remember listening to the data of the three songs delivered to us and being overwhelmed by the power of the live orchestral performance. Tactics Ogre: Reborn has live orchestral performance throughout the entire game, so I hope people experience similarly visceral feelings to those I did all those years ago. Mariko Sato (Producer, Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion): I didn’t work on the original Crisis Core, but I definitely played it when it came out! At the time, I vaguely remembered Zack as a character who only had a brief appearance in Final Fantasy VII, but I was so surprised at the emotional reaction I had to his story. Naoyuki Takahashi (Lead Game Designer, Tactics Ogre Reborn): I played Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together on PSP and found the game to be very substantial – especially the weight of the story choices and the battles. I also recall being surprised and delighted that even when the game was nearing its end, I could keep on playing with unit training and end game content. Both of these remasters add lots of improvements and new features. How did you decide what to add to the game? Takahashi: First, everyone on the Tactics Ogre: Reborn development team played the original version together and made a list of good points and things to be improved. Based on this list, we held discussions and decided what to add to this new version. Kato: Yes, I replayed the PSP version again, including all the extra elements, so this is now the game I have spent the most time playing ever (laughs). Fortunately, one of its charms of this game is that you can play it over and over again without getting tired of it. That, and having that list of things to review and new elements to incorporate, meant that playtesting was always a fresh and enjoyable experience. Takahashi: That list of changes and new features was finalized as development progressed – and if we found new elements that we thought should be added, we address them too. Katano: There were also some things based on feedback from players of the PSP version that we’d already decided to do, including applying level increases to units instead of classes and redesigning the artificial intelligence. Of course, not everything proceeded according to plan, and there were some elements that were finalized during the development process, such as a major replacement of the sound effects, which was accomplished through the efforts of our sound department during the latter half of the project. Sato: For Crisis Core, we discussed the direction we wanted to take the remastered version in with Creative Director Nomura Tetsuya. The development studio (Tose) also made proposals for enhancements, and from there, we decided what to go with. What was the most challenging thing about adding these new features? Sato: There were many challenges, but adjusting the visuals was one of the biggest. We originally considered porting the graphics unchanged, but there were a lot of things that we were concerned about when we first brought the original version onto a large screen. We ultimately decided that we wanted to create a similar impression to the graphics from Final Fantasy VII REMAKE. However, there were some things that just didn’t work well when we just swapped out the 3D models, so we spent many long days altering and adjusting things. Kitase: The PSP used the same graphics technology as the PS2 generation, so there’s a gap of three generations here! Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion has achieved a graphical quality close to Final Fantasy VII REMAKE, which makes it feel like a new, fresher and more exciting game to play. Sato: We also felt that the original Crisis Core battle system felt a bit difficult to play in some places, especially when compared to recent games that have action-based battles. We re-examined all the areas that people considered hard to play in the original and implemented various ideas to improve them. A long period of tweaking and polishing was needed here too, to ensure that the game was more playable, but kept what made the original great. Thinking back on it, we really did some serious fine tuning on the game (laugh). There must have been just as many challenges on Tactics Ogre: Reborn too. Katano: Perhaps the biggest was to design a UI (user interface) that would be compatible with both mouse and controller. We’d assumed from the beginning that mouse operation would be possible and had intended to incorporate elements like icons to support it. However, there was no ‘ready to go’ solution to make using a mouse possible without compromising the convenience of controller operation. We worked on many iterations and improvements, right until the end of development! There were also technical issues due to originally releasing on an older platform. For example, the PSP version stored data based on a CLUT (color look up table) – essentially a complex mechanism that determines color by combining multiple elements in a technical way. Sticking with this system limited our ability to work at higher resolutions, which meant that it became necessary for some data to be rendered in full color. It was enormously difficult to reconstruct the data to meet this requirement. Both Tactics Ogre and Crisis Core were also originally handheld experiences. How does that change development compared to making a game for consoles? Sato: I can only talk from personal experience, but the specs of the current generation of platforms have improved a lot over what went before, which makes it possible to depict many different things – not just with the graphics but in lots of ways. That naturally makes you want to push the development as far as it will go and add everything you can think of. Games for dedicated mobile platforms are convenient because people can play them anywhere, but the specs you can work with as a developer are limited. As a result, you draw a line at a certain point in development and don’t experience the process where you go round in circles thinking “Ooh, I really want to implement that, and I also want to add that…”. That’s a big difference between developing a game for console vs handheld. Katano: There are big differences between making games for PS5 and PS5 compared to PSP or other mobile devices. For example, two major points of difference are the resolution and size of the screen on which the game is viewed. For example, Tactics Ogre is a pixel art game in appearance, so the resolution of the screen greatly affects it. We had to consider how we could take advantage of the best qualities of the pixel art, while accommodating the high-resolution screens of today. We also had to take great care in designing the UI. If a game is made purely for mobile devices, the UI is designed to be larger, as the screen size is fixed and smaller than that of a TV. On modern platforms, however, images are viewed on screens of various sizes, so we had to prepare lots of different displays when we were working on UI design and review. There are also different technical considerations. For example, when we were working on Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together on PSP, we had to put a lot of effort into improving the UMD loading speed. For the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game, the platforms sort of solve that issue for us – that’s something that we were very grateful for (laughs)! Both Crisis Core and Tactics Ogre are true fan-favorites. Did that have an impact during development? Sato: Indeed – the project team knew that it was quite a popular title from the beginning of development. We saw how lots of fans would post about Crisis Core on the anniversary of its release date each year. There was a little pressure from that, but the whole team really threw themselves into the development, so we’re eager to show the results to everyone now! It was genuinely thanks to all the kind words from the fans that we were able to work so hard on this new version! Incidentally, the way everyone called out “Gongaga!” when we revealed the game made me feel really glad after all our efforts (laughs). Kato: For Tactics Ogre: Reborn, we wanted to ensure we presented fans with an experience that would surpass their memories. We focused on retaining the nostalgic flavors of the game, while incorporating current-generation technology and production styles to create something that feels effortless to play. Takahashi: Throughout the whole of development, we considered what fans might be excited for. For example, we constructed the battles in such a way that the strong enemies who are appealing in the story are also strong enemies in terms of gameplay as well. Katano: And while that core concept of providing enjoyment to customers remained a constant, we also carefully considered each new element with the game’s original Director and Writer, Yasumi Matsuno, to ensure that the direction of our improvements fit the world of Tactics Ogre. Finally, what would you like to say to any players picking up Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion or Tactics Ogre: Reborn? Sato: Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII Reunion- has been made so that players of the PSP original can enjoy a nostalgic, but also fresh and different, experience, I would recommend giving it a try. Playing this game will also let you enjoy the original Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII Remake and the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on a deeper level too! Kato: For those who have played Tactics Ogre before, experiencing it with the fully voiced cutscenes and live music may leave them with a new impression. Also, the design improvements make gameplay more effortless, and let you enjoy the elaborately crafted world of The Valerian Isles at an even deeper level. For those who are playing for the first time, I hope that you’ll be drawn into the world and the story, just like those who played in the past. Please enjoy the highly flexible character development and the tactical battles, where the fun lies in putting a little bit of thought into each move to figure out how to achieve victory! Takahashi: I think Tactics Ogre: Reborn has a different feel from the PSP version. The game has added voices and a new storyline, so I hope you will enjoy the game! Katano: I’ll add that the PSP version was only available in Japanese in Japan and English outside of Japan, but Tactics Ogre: Reborn supports English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese – the voices can be switched between English and Japanese. As such, we believe many more people will be able to enjoy the game. I hope you’ll pick it up and have a great time! ——- Many thanks to all the participants for sharing their thoughts and experiences of remaking these handheld classics. As you can tell, Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion and Tactics Ogre: Reborn are so much more than simple remasters. They bring two superb games up to date, delivering something new and exciting, while capturing what made them great in the first place! 21. Get ready for a new era of competition with the arrival of Season 01 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, releasing November 16. Deploy to Al-Mazrah in the next iteration of the free-to-play Battle Royale, visit reimagined versions of the Shoot House and Shipment Multiplayer maps, team up for an additional Special Ops mission leading up to the first Raid episode, and much more. Season 01 launches on PlayStation on November 16. Read on for all the highlights coming to both Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 — New Map and Innovations The city of Al-Mazrah within the United Republic of Adal will be your first map for Warzone 2.0. You may have already explored some of its regions in Multiplayer maps like Al Bagra Fortress, Embassy, Zarqwa Hydroelectric, Taraq, Sariff Bay, and Sa’id. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 includes a wide variety of new features and mechanics, including the following highlights: Loadouts Remain: Get your Custom Loadouts through Loadout Drops deployed later in the match or by clearing a Stronghold or Black Site. You can also use Cash at the in-match Buy Station to purchase only the Primary Weapon from created Loadouts. Looting Mechanics: In the new DMZ mode, Operators will utilize a backpack system to further organize their items and equipment. Battle Royale will use a streamlined version of this new system. Enter the New Gulag The new Gulag is a 2v2 environment where randomly paired Duos must coordinate to take down the opposition. All players will receive a predefined Loadout with highly effective weaponry and gear placed toward the map’s center. In the middle of the match, the Gulag Jailer will jump in to interfere. Defeating the Jailer returns all four Gulag prisoners back into the match. Will you work together or go for the elimination victory? AI Combatants In addition to the Gulag Jailer, there are two other places where players will run into AI combatants — Strongholds and Black Sites. Both are clearly labeled on the in-game Tac Map. In Strongholds, fight off AI opponents while attempting to locate and disarm a bomb within the time limit. Black Sites offer an even greater danger but provide a permanent Weapon Blueprint reward and valuable in-match items for those who can successfully complete them. To access a Black Site, you’ll need the Black Site Key, given to the first squad to clear out an active Stronghold. Further Innovations: Aquatic Combat, New Vehicles and Fuel System, and More Circle Collapse: In Battle Royale modes, there can be up to three circles within the collapse, which will ultimately reconverge for the final showdown. Prepare to adjust your strategies accordingly, as this feature is randomized in each match. Proximity Chat: Got something to say? Comms are now open, so any in-game chatter can be picked up by any other squad. Interrogation: In squad-based modes, intel is everything. Reveal enemy locations by successfully shaking down player-controlled enemies while they are downed. New Vehicles: Call in the aerial powerhouse known as the Heavy Chopper, which can hover in the air without a pilot, or use the all-electric supertruck GMC Hummer EV, a versatile means for the squad to quickly cover serious ground. New Fuel System: No more unlimited fuel sources — all vehicles use fuel over time, and when it runs out, that vehicle is no longer usable. Vehicles can be refilled either with Gas Cans found around the map or at Gas Stations. Gas Stations can also repair body damage and tires, thereby restoring vehicle health. However, Operators can also perform flat tire repairs anywhere in the world by interacting with individual tires. Aquatic Combat: Whether by boat or breaststroke, Operators can navigate waterways, rivers, and the open sea as part of their overall victory strategy. Remember: only Sidearms, melee weapons, and Throwing Knives can be used while you’re submerged. The Shops: A new version of the Buy Station contains a unique set of items for purchase in limited quantities, including Killstreaks, Armor Plates, and more. You can see these offerings and can buy back fallen squadmates within a new interface. DMZ — A New Battle Royale Experience In addition to traditional Warzone modes — Battle Royale Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads — Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will launch with a brand-new experience known as DMZ. DMZ is an open-world, narrative-focused extraction mode where Operators have free rein to complete faction-based missions, take on additional side objectives, engage with enemy Operators or AI combatants, and search for valuable items, all while fighting to survive toward exfiltration. Third-Person Playlists: Get a new perspective with third-person Playlists, set to be introduced into the Battle Royale weekly rotation later in Season 01. Modern Warfare II owners can get a taste of the third-person experience now through the game’s Multiplayer. PlayStation Exclusive — Season 01 Combat Pack Gear up with the exclusive Season 01 Combat Pack, free for PlayStation Plus members for use in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare II. Included in this Combat Pack are the “Oni Tactical” Operator Skin for Oni, the “Oni Revenger” SMG and “Oni Oracle” Pistol Weapon Blueprints, plus the “Sony Oni” Calling Card, “Welcome Death” Sticker, “Fractal Demon” Emblem, and the “Demon Fang” Charm. Relaunch — Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera Shortly after Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launches on November 16, the original Call of Duty: Warzone will relaunch as Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera. This is a separate experience and will retain all player progression, Battle Pass content, Store Bundles, and other in-game purchases. Modern Warfare II Overview Season 01 is bringing two reimagined Multiplayer maps, the competitive CDL Moshpit, and more co-op focused Special Ops content. Shoot House (Launch): Situated in the jungle south of Las Almas, Shoot House’s new home was built for training cartel hired guns with the same level of intensity as Mexican Special Forces Operators. Shipment (Mid-Season): Set on a cargo ship taking on water in a storm-ridden part of the Atlantic Ocean, a new Shipment is ready to bring back the chaos that only an ultra-compact map can provide. Get Competitive with the CDL Moshpit: Prior to the official launch of Ranked Play in Modern Warfare II, the CDL Moshpit offers the perfect testing grounds to warm up your competitive skills. The Playlist will use the Call of Duty League’s standard rules, restrictions, and map rotation across the three official game modes: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control. Special Ops — New Mission at Launch, Raid Episode 1 Mid-Season Special Ops is getting a new mission and the first episode of Raids during Season 01. High Ground: Successfully find and destroy enemy communication servers to locate and extract three hard drives with vital enemy intel. One Operator will be tasked with piloting an Attack Chopper to clear out dangerous land mines, while the other works with AI allies as part of a Ground Assault Team to infiltrate the buildings that contain enemy equipment. Raid Episode 1: Continuing the story of the Modern Warfare II Campaign, Raids will be the ultimate challenge for Trios with a mix of stealth, resource management, all-out action, and puzzle-solving objectives. Arriving later in the season. Season 01 General Overview New Battle Pass: Experience a brand-new Battle Pass system giving players more agency than ever before. Replacing the linear stream of tiers from previous titles will be a multi-Sector map. Unlock items across the map using earned Battle Pass Tier Tokens. Each map has at least 20 Sectors with five items each; tokens can be used to either unlock adjacent Sectors or earn more items within an unlocked Sector. New Weapons Season 01 brings the opportunity to earn four new weapons, which can then be used in Multiplayer, Special Ops, and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. Two of them are earned for free within the Battle Pass: Victus XMR Sniper Rifle: A hard-hitting, bolt-action sniper rifle with .50 cal BMG ammunition. Its tungsten sabot-tipped bullets are fast and powerful but require precise shots over long distances. BAS-P SMG: An aggressive fire rate and modular frame make the BAS-P perfect for the discerning Operator who wants to customize their weapon. Subsonic ammo hides kill skulls from the enemy team. Two other weapons can be earned later in the Mid-Season either by purchasing a Store Bundle or by completing a weapon unlock challenge: Chimera Assault Rifle: With an integrated suppressor and slow, high-energy .300 BLK rounds, the Chimera is adept at close-quarters combat. Subsonic Ammo hides skulls from the enemy team. M13B Assault Rifle: The M13B features a short-stroke pistol system that allows for a high rate of fire and low recoil. Play Video New Operators Zeus (Launch): Born in the South Niger Delta, Zosar Kalu is the eldest of three children, helping to raise his younger siblings while his parents pursued political aspirations. Following his year of military service shadowing a Nigerian Army Special Forces Battalion, he enlisted and rose through the ranks. After losing his family to local Al Qatala soldiers, Zeus established the “Thunder” Corps, a counterterrorism group dedicated to hunting AQ wherever they hide and bringing them to true justice. Unlock Zeus automatically with purchase of the Season 01 Battle Pass. Klaus (Mid-Season): A member of Denmark’s Elite Special Forces, Klaus Fisker can almost be considered a living legend among Operators. His legend was made one night on the Urzikstan border, where he carried a wounded comrade 18 miles to the nearest base using the lessons taught by his father. Gaz (Mid-Season): Price’s right-hand man, Gaz became legend in 2019 when his valiancy during an attack on Piccadilly Circus grabbed the attention of the formidable SAS Bravo Team captain. He ultimately joined Price’s elite unit, known as Task Force 141. Obtain Klaus and Gaz in Bundles to be featured during the Mid-Season Update. Squad Goals: Modern Warfare FC Kicks Off In-Season During the Modern Warfare FC event, you can sign three of the world’s greatest athletes to your Operator roster by picking up special, limited-time Bundles: the fearless Neymar Jr., who will debut on November 21; Paul Pogba, set to debut on November 25; and Leo Messi, who will complete the Operator hat trick on November 29. More details will be shared in-season. Persistent Prestige: This year, leveling up past Rank 55 will allow you to earn a persistent Prestige Rank across all seasons, rather than having it reset at the end of each season. Beginning in Season 01, reaching Rank 56 will unlock Prestige 1. This will grant an Emblem, additional rewards like a Battle Pass Token, and a set of challenges — complete those challenges to unlock an exclusive Calling Card. Rank up to Prestige 5 for greater rewards. C.O.D.E. Bowl, Call of Duty League Major to Kick Off Mid-Season This year’s C.O.D.E. Bowl will be held during the first Call of Duty League Major, taking place right after the Season 01 mid-season update from December 15 to 18 in Raleigh, North Carolina. This event will also host the first Call of Duty Challengers Open. Visit the League’s official website for more information, including when tickets for the first Major will be on sale. New Call of Duty League Launch Pack, Team Packs During Season 01, we are celebrating an early return to the Call of Duty League with a special launch pack for the 2023 season. We are also releasing Team Packs for all 12 of the League’s teams. Season 01 of Modern Warfare II Launches November 16 Purchase Modern Warfare II to get a premium Warzone 2.0 experience – access to 14 additional Operators to use across both games, as well as accelerated Weapon and Level Progression.
