Hello riders! We are Megagon Industries, a three-person studio from Berlin, and our game Lonely Mountains: Downhill is finally near the finish line. We can’t wait to welcome all of you to our mountainous creation, which will arrive on PlayStation 4 October 23! Most of all, we’re looking forward to seeing your videos and hearing your stories about making (or not making) your way down the mountainside. In Lonely Mountains: Downhill, it’s you and your bike against the mountain. Every mountain features several trails, and each trail has a variety of challenges for you to accomplish. In other words – you have some work cut out for you! Visit new mountains, explore new terrain and unlock new bikes with different features. Each bike has its own advantages, so try each one to see which one best fits the trail and your playstyle! Some bikes are great for going off-road while others focus on large jumps, high drops or absolute speed. A shortcut that’s great for one bike might not be the best for another one! Not all paths down the mountain are obvious, so always keep an eye out (you might even find some beautiful resting spots along the way). Finding the best route down the mountain is key on your way to the top of the leaderboards. You can certainly say that Lonely Mountains: Downhill can be a demanding experience. Successfully getting down the mountain is just the first step – and worth a Trophy in itself! But it gets even more fun when you start challenging yourself to do it without crashing once. Or to learn all the right paths down the mountain in order to set the fastest time possible! Make sure you hit each of the checkpoints before going totally off-road in the Free Ride mode! If that all still sounds too easy for you, well, no need to worry! We’ve decided to increase the challenge even a bit more by adding a Night Mode. To master this mode you need to learn every nook and cranny of the trails, or the smallest pebble might become your downfall. Thankfully, your bike comes with headlights. Prepare to hit that share button many times to capture all your greatest victories… or most spectacular crashes. Have a good ride and see you on the mountains! View the full article

It’s often not assumed that composers scoring games are themselves gamers (a travesty I have no explanation for), but in my case, my entire life has been marked by countless memorable titles. In my profession, I’ve been very lucky to score some remarkable story-driven narrative projects like Journey, ABZU, and The Banner Saga trilogy, and so I was incredibly excited when I first heard about The Bradwell Conspiracy – a first-person narrative adventure game that you’ll be able to play on PS4 starting October 8. The game tells the story of you, an anonymous attendee of a gala at the Stonehenge Museum in England when a mysterious event leaves the place in ruins. Waking up amid the destruction (and unable to speak), your pair of AI-equipped Augmented Reality glasses connect you to Amber, a young scientist from the museum, who is also trying to escape. Your method of communication with her is through sending screenshots of your POV that she then responds to. Working with Amber, you’ll navigate the endless labyrinth of halls and tunnels and quickly learn that there is far more below this humble museum than originally met the eye… I don’t want to say any more than that but needless to say, the instant our creative director Georg Backer gave me a rundown of his idea for the game, I was hooked. I’ve always loved games that show instead of tell, and require you to immerse yourself into the world in order to truly unlock its story, and The Bradwell Conspiracy fully delivered that. And not only that, but Amber’s dialogue is outrageously charming. We realized early on how much personality would need to come through the voice in our heads and managed to craft a script (with the help of none other than Jane Espenson of Buffy and Battlestar Galactica fame!) that walks this line of intriguing and hilarious. Imagine a one-sided Firewatch where the spunky character is desperately trying to understand why you’re spamming her with shots of everything you see. What’s more (and the reason your humble composer is here today writing this guest blog), we at A Brave Plan had a rather reckless approach with the music. Traditionally, first-person games have leaned heavily on atmospheric sound design and minimalist music to color the background while the player freely explores, saving the bigger musical moments for scripted events. Not only did the team encourage me to let the music speak more aggressively than that, but also more weirdly. Let it defy genre as much as possible and even sometimes challenge the fourth wall. There are times when the music is simultaneously underscoring the player experience “non-diagetically” (meaning in that traditional soundtrack manner where its audible to the player, but not the characters), and times where it starts to blur the line. In-world events partially manipulate the music in semi-literal ways. In the interest of avoiding spoilers, I am keeping that deliberately vague. Basically, it’s weird. When else was going to write a score where I could have thumping bass lines, grand pipe organs, walls of white noise and super ambient electric guitars? Spoiler: never. I had a partner in crime for all this, Ali Tocher, who did masterful sound design on the game and was my comrade in determining the best ways to integrate the music meaningfully into the gameplay. Because of how surreal A Brave Plan was encouraging us to be, generic implementation would’ve been an opportunity missed. We even shared sounds back and forth so that the line between sound and music was blurry at best. This game has been a very long journey for us, as many games are, but I am proud of this team and I feel very privileged to have been part of it. You’d be hard-pressed to find any team anywhere more dedicated to seeing a project finished, and beautifully so, than this one. Games like this let you express parts of yourself that no other game would afford an opportunity for and I got to places that I never had, and likely never will again. I hope you get a chance to play it and uncover … The Bradwell Conspiracy. View the full article

Hello dear readers! I’m John Melchior, Executive Producer of the original Ghostbusters: The Video Game. With Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered set to launch this Friday, October 4, this was a great time to reflect on the timelessness of the beloved title, and how special creating a Ghostbusters video game has been. The Cast in Ghostbusters: The Video Game The personalities of the cast are so important to every aspect of Ghostbusters, and it was one of the first things we tackled. We really tried to capture all their quirks, traits and humor in the never released 10-minute prototype. It was the element of the pitch that won over Sony, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Ivan Reitman to approve it and Vivendi to fund it. Dan always described it as a family structure. To make it work, we had to follow that approach. Think of it like this: Bill is the father figure, the one who tries to take care of the family and keep the out-of-control kids in order. Dan brings a youthful Christmas morning approach to everything that happens. Like opening the one present you really wanted. Things like “This is great,” “I can’t believe it,” approach, even if the events are scary. For the most part, he sees the positive side to everything. Harold is the pragmatic child and the geek. Introverted and studies more than parties. However, when you put them together, they get into all sorts of trouble that requires them to be put back in line. Ernie’s character is really the perfect representation of the audience, seeing things the same way we do and calling out the obvious. Finally, William Atherton is the spoiled brat kid down the street who always gets what he wants. So, knowing the above, Drew (Hayworth) and I worked hard to create environments and sets that showcased each of them and allowed setups for their humor and characters to shine. Then the vast number of writers we had trying to create this universe took those and created specifics to the characters, their motivations, and connections to each other. Dan and Harold took those and really created the humor you see in the game. The New Recruit & World Building The rookie (new recruit) was a massive fight internally at Vivendi and then even with Atari. They really wanted to “play as the cast.” This was something I really fought for and eventually won. The reason why was simple. I felt people wanted the characters to have the same chemistry as they did in the films. A pillar of this was timing. So, by playing a character that had no lines, we were able to craft that timing. Dan, Harold, Bill, and Ivan created an incredible universe with the films. Most importantly, they create rules to the world and things that could and could not be done. This gave Drew and the design team a playground to build the levels out of. One of the most important things that they made a mandate was that one of Ghostbusters main characters is the city of New York. The city — its attitude, energy, and tone — needed to be front and center in creating this world. These are also things that helped the writers as they started to put details to the levels and dialogue. One time, there was a debate about the museum location. I called Harold, who was on the set of The Office directing an episode, and he called me back from his break to weigh in and provide guidance about what would best fit the world. Dan was also always there. He would regularly see the game and review the levels we were creating to see how they played into the canon of their creation. The upstate NY location and boat were things that he had created in some form for the movie, but it never made it in. So, he really wanted us to put them into our game since it was canon and fit in to the universe. He has a lot of knowledge about NY’s history, locations, and people. It was amazing to work within his guidelines of where we needed to go in the game and how it played out as far as the ghosts, how they acted, and even what they were wearing. Iconic Settings, Characters, & Weapons First and foremost, we wanted to take players back to the Sedgewick Hotel. This iconic location from the film is a fan favorite. We wanted to re-create the ballroom scene, in part to gain the player’s trust. We felt strongly that if we can nail the look, feel, destruction, and rod-and-reel aspect of the game, we would have their trust for the rest of the game. That level was the focal point of our pre-production. We wanted to bring back Stay Puft, and we were told that in order to do that we’d really need to put him in Time Square. So, we crafted an introduction that put him in familiar territory at first, but led to a boss combat sequence that was narrower and more focused for the players than a space that wide open. The firehouse was a must for us. We wanted to create it and place a lot of elements from both films in there for fans to see and interact with. The best example of that is probably the Vigo Painting. Picking elements and areas that were for the fans was important to us, but we did not want to overuse that approach. So, we worked with the team and Dan/Harold to create new locations that they hoped would become iconic for the fans. The boat was something that Dan wanted. He always wanted a GB boat in the movies and really felt the game was the perfect place to introduce it. It was a great part of the story. We had early prototypes of driving the Ecto-1 and the boat but they did not end up in the game. We sat down with Dan and discussed equipment classes. We told him we wanted GB equipment types for every type of gun that shooter fans would expect. He worked with the design team to create a vast number of weapons. They were all fun and chaotic. The Tether was a perfect addition as it played really well in the physics engine that we used for the game. In the early tests of that piece of equipment, fans just loved connecting two objects together and letting physics take over. The Stasis mines were also a fun addition that forced the entity to freeze in place for a few seconds. We hope you enjoyed this trip down Ghostbusters memory lane, and you jump in and experience the unique storyline and adventure in high definition with Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered on PS4! Welcome back! It’s a tough one this month — I thought I knew what I was going to vote for right after the month kicked off, but some more recent releases just might change my mind… As always, we’ll announce the winner of the poll after all the votes have been tallied, but since last month saw the release of a few big-name sports titles, we’ll give a special shout-out to whichever one of those three rakes in the most votes too. Feel free to debate the merits of your selections in the comments, but make sure you cast your vote before the weekend is over! We’ll close the polls at 11:59pm Pacific Sunday night. How does it work? At the end of every month, PlayStation.Blog will open a poll where you can vote for the best new game released that month. Soon thereafter, we’ll close the polls, tally your votes, and announce the winner at PlayStation.Blog. PlayStation Store will also showcase some top Players’ Choice winners throughout the year. What is the voting criteria? That’s up to you! If you were only able to recommend one new release to a friend that month, which would it be? In keeping with our long tradition in the Game of the Year Awards, remastered or re-released games won’t qualify. Ambitious, larger-scale rebuilds and remakes like Shadow of the Colossus and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will. How are nominees decided? The PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation Store editorial teams will gather a list of that month’s most noteworthy releases and use it to seed the poll. Write-in votes will be accepted. In Apex Legends Season 3 — Meltdown, you’ll be able to battle in the burning cold of World’s Edge, score a fresh Battle Pass to take on Daily and Weekly Challenges, and get unique rewards. Uncover your opponents’ secrets as Crypto, a Legend who sees what others want to keep hidden, and heat the arena up with the Charge Rifle. It’s the latest fight in this free-to-play battle royale game where legendary competitors aim for glory, fame, and fortune on the fringes of the Frontier. Let’s investigate the details to get you ready for the fight! Welcome to World’s Edge Season 3 unveils a brand new map — and it’s a challenge from the first step (before even taking into account the other competitors coming at you), a rocky, volcanic zone called World’s Edge. It’s the site of a massive chemical blast that caused loss of life and iced over the area around it. The accident turned it into a frozen graveyard, and the spot for the newest Apex Arena. Hack the System with the Newest Legend The latest Legend grew up on the streets surrounded by hackers, thieves, criminals, and mercenaries, but he was not in danger — this was home. Specializing in designing and encrypting monitor devices used to track and transmit information from the Apex Games throughout The Outlands, he uncovered a strange hidden file with secret information hidden inside a prototype drone — a discovery that forced him to flee for his life. Adopting a new identity (and a bunch of body modifications), he became the newest Legend, Crypto. Always looking to stay in the fight — but out of the spotlight — cool, calm, and collected Crypto has plenty of secrets to keep, and specialized surveillance drones to dig up his opponents’ secrets. The day is finally here! Today all of us here at Bungie are excited to deliver our latest expansion to players both new and old: Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Become your Guardian and delve into new realms on the Moon and beyond, with tons of new content to explore. We’re absolutely delighted to share Shadowkeep globally on PlayStation 4 and hope the community, our forever-partners in creating and evolving Destiny 2 with their great feedback, enjoy this new release. Here are my top five things that you can experience within Shadowkeep. 1: We’re going back to the Moon! Let’s set the scene. Remember the Moon in the original Destiny? In Shadowkeep, you’ll be returning to the Archer’s Line, where you walked years ago, but all is not what it used to be. Shockwaves have rippled across the Moon, changing the terrain and exposing long-buried secrets. Something wicked has awoken. Nightmares rise up from beneath the lunar surface to plague our Moon and the planets beyond. Only one key ally can help you amidst this sudden crisis… Eris Morn. You may remember Eris, a Guardian who works across the solar system to seek out and reveal threats to the Vanguard and The Last City. This quest led to the awakening of these new Nightmares, and you must team up with Eris to stop them before it’s too late. Return to the Moon, journey deep into the mysterious Scarlet Keep, and work with Eris to discover the source of the Nightmares before they cast humanity into another age of Darkness for good. 2: Customization with Armor 2.0 More customization than ever before! We’ve revamped and implemented a significant number of customizable options to expand the ways Guardians both look and play, letting them express their own unique character and style. With Armor 2.0, Guardians can now experiment with: More Stats: Previously, Guardians could only have three stats at values of 1-10 on their armor. Now, players will instead see six stats on their armor drops — Discipline, Intellect, Mobility, Recovery, Resilience and Strength. Oh, and all of these stats go up to 100 now. Fully Customizable Mods: All armor drops come with thousands of potential and mod choice to explore in addition to stat combinations. Upgrade your armor and plug in the mods you want on the fly to make it easier to mix and match towards your playstyle. Experiment as much as you want, as mods are be unlocks with infinite uses instead of being consumable. Universal Ornaments: Legendary Ornaments can now be applied to any piece of legendary armor you’re wearing and swapped on the fly. Change up your look with any piece of legendary armor with the ornament of your choice at any time. Energy System: Dach mod has different levels of power. The more mods you want to equip and the more powerful the mods you’re aiming to use, the more energy you’ll need to invest into your armor pieces. 3: The hunt for new gear Discover unique weapons and armor in ways both new and old: Construct weapons out of Nightmare Essence with Eris Morn Gather Vex-themed gear through the Season Pass Collect exciting new Exotics from quests and enemy drops …and more! 4: New combat tool: Finishers! We have introduced a new combat tool for all Destiny 2 players: Finishers! Weaken your enemies and activate a Finisher to deliver a final blow with a flourish. Class Themed – blast arcane energy as a Warlock, flourish your knives as a Hunter, and strike with the greatest Titan weapon of all, your fist. Close Quarters Combat – Rush a weakened enemy to activate a devastating final blow. Risk & Reward – Equip Finisher Mods that use Super energy to customize its effects, such as self-healing or spawning ammo for your fireteam. 5: New Raid & New Season to discover Assemble your Fireteam, Guardians, because it’s time for you and your squad to challenge Destiny’s newest raid: The Garden of Salvation. A signal emerges from the Darkness of forgotten depths and reaches beyond dimensions, into the uncharted wilds of the Black Garden. Where it leads inside the Garden remains a mystery. The signal itself is an enigma, one that whispers with temptation, yearning to be solved. Included with Shadowkeep is our latest seasonal update for Destiny 2: Season of the Undying. Defend our Moon from the Vex invasion and face the Undying Mind. In Season of the Undying, you will experience a new activity, discover new exotic weapons, collect exclusive universal ornaments, and grow more powerful as you fight to halt the never-ending waves of advancing Vex armies. One of the many great things about working on NetherRealm games is the opportunity offered by DLC to add guest fighters to our titles. What’s more, these are usually iconic characters that I’ve grown up with and have had an impact on me as an artist. The Terminator T-800 from the Terminator: Dark Fate film is such a great addition to Mortal Kombat 11. Everyone in the studio has so much love and respect for this character, and the amount of creative energy felt during the character creation process, along with everyone’s excitement during the final playthroughs, were incredible. Although most of my work consists of reviewing and art directing assets for the character and prop teams, I also build character faces and facial rigs that drive our facial animations. As Arnold Schwarzenegger is arguably the most iconic action hero of all time, it was a real career highlight to work on his face and facial rig. The team added a lot of new features, pushing everything to its technical limits to make all gameplay, intros, victories, Fatal Blows and Fatalities feel truly impressive. The character team worked hard to not only add new systems for all the Terminator dismemberment and Krushing Blow content but to also add new features enabling the addition of decal elements. These allowed us to give the Terminator several different shirt options. We couldn’t do the Terminator without showing the T-800 endoskeleton. This is my favorite skin, the damage to the face and the revealed skull are just plain cool. In addition, the design team has really outdone themselves by adding a game mechanic that will have you fighting as the T-800 endoskeleton, if you have the right move equipped and you are at low health in the final round. We also have additional character skins dropping with all this content, including Sonya Blade as a Cyborg Hunter, Kano as a cyborg in his Cash Machine Kano skin and Johnny Cage in a very expensive tuxedo, movie premiere-ready as Red Carpet Johnny Cage. These are great skins, especially the different tux color options for Johnny. And we have a Cassie Cage as Harley Quinn character skin for Kombat Pack owners, which we’ve been looking forward to releasing. Not only is it a great visual, but it also adds some fun to Cassie’s costume options. The opportunity to add Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator T-800 to Mortal Kombat 11 has been nothing short of an amazing experience for everyone here at NetherRealm Studios, and it really shows off the huge amount of great creative content that has been added to the game. We hope you all feel the respect and love that we have for this brilliant character when the DLC drops on October 8 via early access for Kombat Pack owners and October 15 for wide (à la carte) availability. And lastly, we have a Mortal Kombat 11 free trial coming up October 11-14 on PS4, where you’ll be able to preview all multiplayer game modes, a portion of the Story mode, the full base game roster of characters and some of the Kombat Pack fighters (Terminator T-800, Nightwolf and Shang Tsung) within the Towers of Time mode. If you haven’t played the game yet, feel free to check it out! View the full article

Otherwise, your service will remain the same, and you can continue to enjoy the hundreds of games currently available. How often will new titles be introduced to the PS Now catalog? Each month, the service will add a selection of popular games that will be available for a limited period. This is on top of the existing offering of popular evergreen titles that are added to PS Now on a regular basis. Will I still be able to stream or download PS Now games included in the subscription plan? Yes. PlayStation Now enables you to stream more than 800** PS4, PS3 and PS2 games on your PS4 and PC, and download more than 300** PS4 games to play on your PS4. What’s the difference between playing a downloaded game and streamed version? Games downloaded from PS Now run locally on your PS4 console at their native graphic quality and sound output modes, so the quality can increase up 4K (with a PS4 Pro) if the game and your TV supports it. Downloaded games with PS VR support are also playable using your PS VR system. Additionally, some online features, such as add-ons and online mode, will only be accessible through the downloaded version of the game. Streaming quality will vary depending on your internet speeds and bandwidth, requiring a minimum of 5Mbps. How many games can I download from PS Now? There is no limit to the number of games you can download from the PS Now service, as long as you have sufficient hard drive space. When I’m offline, can I play games I’ve downloaded? Yes. If your PlayStation Now subscription expires, or if the limited time game content leaves the PS Now service, you’ll also lose access to the DLC and add-on content associated with that game. Here at Sony Interactive Entertainment, we’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with RCA Records to release a full album for upcoming PS4 game Death Stranding. Timefall (Original Music From the World of Death Stranding) is named for the mysterious rainfall that affects all it touches, while its songs find their inspiration in the game’s narrative focus: Sam Bridges and his journey to reconnect a fractured society and save mankind from extinction. SIE and Kojima Productions set out to find artists in many different genres whose music evoked some of the key thematic elements in Death Stranding. Each artist on Timefall spent time with the team at SIE, interacting with the game’s story and vibe, coming up with their own unique takes on connection, love, loss, and rebirth. Today, you can hear the first of these, from renowned Scottish anthemic electro-pop group CHVRCHES. After spending time with Mr. Kojima at Kojima Productions in Tokyo, the band were inspired to write an original song. We’re thrilled to share it with you, the first of several hits to come. Hello everyone. This is Lance Hoke, the Lead Producer for ReadySet Heroes. Here at Robot, we set out to make a game that was easy to pick up and play with your family and friends. With the game releasing tomorrow, we figured now would be a good time to give you an overview of the different ways you can play and other tidbits about the game. Brawl with Friends or Crawl Solo? For those looking for a bit of casual competition, we feature an eight-minute dungeon crawl and a boss fight, followed by an all-out two-minute Brawl to determine the winner. It’s a lot of fun packed in just 10 minutes! This is a great way to play with your friends or family on the couch, and it’s accessible for all skill levels. We also have a mode that is a fantastic single player or local co-op game that challenges you (or your friends) to run the gauntlet! You’ll work your way through 30 increasingly difficult levels until you defeat the final boss. Local and Online? What’s great about ReadySet Heroes is that we give players choice on how they want to play. If you want to play offline Tower Crawl or split-screen multiplayer with your friends, then you can play local, without ever having to login online. Connect a few controllers and you’re all set for some frantic local multiplayer gaming! ReadySet Heroes supports up to 2-4 friends, so grab your best buds, or your rival siblings and battle it out! If your friends are all at home, jump online and play with the rest of the ReadySet community*. You can match into a team game where you’ll be partnered up with a random player or play in free-for-all where you can go lone wolf against others online. ReadySet Heroes is cross-play, so you’ll be playing with both PlayStation and PC players. Slow and Steady or Fast and ”Fur”ious? How you approach the Crawl is up to you. Whether you sprint to the finish to beat the opposing team, or if you take your time shard gathering (gotta get those skill points!) Here are some tips to get the most out of your playthrough: With the Dungeon Crawl only being eight minutes long, you’ll need to decide how you’re going to use that time to prepare yourself for the Brawl against the players at the end. One approach is to search every inch of the levels for mobs to defeat and barrels to open. Every shard you collect increases your skills (Armor, Attack, Speed, Defense, and Magic). You’ll also be more likely to find the Spell Vendor that can cast meteor storms, blizzards, and other spells against the other teams. Being thorough is also a good way to unlock challenges quicker and learn the levels for future runs. Another approach is to rush through the levels as fast as possible. Fight when necessary and grab easily accessible shards, but don’t linger. Each level gives you a treasure chest (we call this Treasure Time). Inside the chest you’ll get two new items (armor, weapons, gear, or spells). The more of these chests you open, the more chances you have at getting better loot and loadout options. Bosses — Fight Now? Or Later? Bosses are the final level before the Brawl, but you can skip right to them starting about halfway through the Crawl. Defeating the boss gives you a boss chest and a huge loot drop of shards, plus each Boss chest gives you a better chance of scoring some Epic and Legendary loot. The tricky part is deciding the best time to go after the boss. If you challenge before you’re ready, you might spend too much time defeating them or get wiped and sent back to the Crawl. If you manage to defeat the boss, the Crawl will end early, reducing the timer to 20 seconds for everyone in the game. This can really put the pressure on the other teams. Our lead designer Kyle Snyder wrote a blog post detailing some of our Bosses and Brawls. I hope you all enjoy ReadySet Heroes tomorrow when it launches. We are already hard at work to support the game and its community with additional content, including free maps, in the months to come. I look forward to seeing you on the crawl… let the battle commence! *Internet connection and PlayStation Plus membership (sold separately) required for online multiplayer. View the full article

Hello, Slayers! Today we’re talking about Dauntless’ next (and biggest!) update: Aether Unbound. This massive patch features a ton of great content. It also coincides with Dauntless leaving early access and going full 1.0. We’re big on feedback at Phoenix Labs so we can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Aether Unbound heralds the arrival of a fearsome new Behemoth, Tempestborne Stormclaw. This particularly nasty version of Stormclaw boasts shocking (pun intended) new attacks that will challenge even the most veteran of Slayers. Deadly storm clouds, lightning attacks, and electric traps that restrict the battlefield are just a few of the weapons in its varied arsenal. To help combat this savage threat a new ally called the Scarred Master has arrived in Ramsgate. She brings with her a powerful new weapon: the aether strikers. The strikers are a fast-paced, up-close, personal weapon, and they feature some new systems that are among our deepest and most rewarding yet. On the surface, aether strikers may appear to be mere gauntlets, but make no mistake: The strikers turn Slayers into living weapons. As you dish out damage and perform specific combos, you’ll charge up Mantras. Every time you charge a Mantra you’ll get access to the Surge attack — a dashing punch that allows a Slayer to pass through their target and reposition themselves in the heat of battle. Consuming Mantras in the heat of combat will allow you to perform different techniques, such as Tempest Form, Karma Breaker, and my personal favorite, Adamant Bolt. This mighty attack unleashes a powerful blast of energy that consumes all your Mantras and gains bonus damage for keeping all your other Techniques active. To maximize your damage output you’ll have to manage your combat resources extremely carefully! Aether Unbound also marks the release of our latest Hunt Pass: Way of the Fist. Inspired by the Scarred Master and her disciples, Way of the Fist provides Slayers with 50 levels of unlockable content and cosmetic rewards. This Hunt Pass also features our first upgradeable armour set, one that levels up as you complete your Hunt Pass. Slayers can earn experience points for their Hunt Pass by gathering collectibles in the city and completing bounties acquired through Dauntless’ new Bounty system. Bounties are a new way to slay — providing Slayer with flexible challenges that they get to choose. Slayers can have up to four bounties active at any given time, and can draft new ones by spending tokens. Tokens are unlocked in a variety of ways. Some are granted automatically, for example you get two per day for free. Others can be looted from hunts and unlocked in Hunt Passes. Bounties will provide Slayers will valuable Hunt Pass experience, and come in a couple varieties – Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each with increasing degrees of difficulty but also rewards. We’re very excited to share Aether Unbound with Slayers everywhere and we can’t wait to hear your feedback. We hope you enjoy the update and we’ll see you in the Shattered Isles. Ellie’s story continues in The Last of Us Part II, and I had a lucky opportunity to reunite with her at a recent hands-on preview event. The demo revealed copious gameplay details, from Ellie’s improved mobility to new threats ranging from guard dogs to new evolutions of the infected. It also yielded a peek at the stunning visual enhancements Naughty Dog brings to the anticipated follow-up. The early portion of the demo features heartfelt story moments between Ellie and her companion, Dina. Ellie was already a multifaceted protagonist in the previous game, but she’s now nineteen and her age shows in the depth of her character. She and Dina exchange playful teases, search each other’s eyes for signals, and dance around the topic of former lovers. My favorite moment between the two occurs when they enjoy a beautiful view of the Wyoming wilderness, and Ellie quietly curses to herself when she realizes she flubbed an opportunity to make a move. Moments like these showcase Ellie’s tenderness and vulnerability, and remind us of the little girl Joel fought to protect. The second half of the demo further showcases Ellie’s violent side, and the lengths she’ll go to exact justice on those who hurt her loved ones. She faces a group of xenophobic survivors in Seattle who have captured Joel’s brother, Tommy. Ellie ventures into enemy territory to rescue him. Naughty Dog has gone through great lengths to convey that these enemies are people with lives and loved ones, not one-dimensional threats. Normally, sniping an enemy with a bow and arrow from considerable distance would come with some pride and relief. In The Last of Us Part II, it might be met by the shrieks of your victim’s loved ones yelling the deceased’s name in grief. Violence is sometimes necessary to survive and endure in this world, but it constantly weighed on my conscience. Read on for an overview of the hands-on demo’s content and key gameplay details: ● Patrol – The first section of the preview I played was set within the snowy, abandoned towns surrounding the survivors’ hometown of Jackson, Wyoming. Snow crunches satisfyingly underfoot and fierce winds make patterns across its surface. ● A Day in Ellie’s Life – Ellie’s main job is to patrol the area surrounding Jackson. Early in the game she rides horseback through the shattered, abandoned buildings in the wooded expanse, where she and Dina check for signs of deadly infected, dangerous marauders, or survivors. ● Suburbs – The second section takes place in what remains of Seattle, Washington’s Hillcrest neighborhood. The series’ iconic overgrown aesthetic is well represented with lush, green tree canopies shading a broken town road. Impressively rendered mist hangs heavily over the area and completes its authentic Pacific Northwest atmosphere. ● Meticulous Detail – Naughty Dog elevates the visual fidelity of this grounded world to new heights. Your horse’s muscles flex and jiggle as it gallops. Tall grass ripples and tree bows flex with the wind. Ellie contorts her face in intense focus as she silently takes down enemies. Upgrading weapons at a workbench rewards you with strikingly detailed animations like swapping out a shotgun’s magazine. The authenticity is astounding. ● Jump – Ellie is more limber than Joel ever was. Players can now jump to reach higher vantage points or cross small gaps. Don’t expect to pounce hapless victims like an assassin, but look forward to expanded freedom and new opportunities for traversal. ● Dodge – One of Ellie’s most potent new abilities allows her to dodge incoming close-quarters attacks. Step out of the way of survivors’ axe swings or slashing Runners with a quick button tap. Dodging was especially handy when evading surprise Stalker attacks. The new feature feels satisfyingly empowering, but also necessary considering how enemies seem smarter and harder to predict. ● Crawl – Hit the deck! Ellie can now drop to the ground by holding Circle. This is useful for quickly breaking line of sight with enemies, crawling through small passages, or keeping a low profile. The latter stealthy application is invaluable. Slinking through tall grass to get the drop on passing enemies and evading pursuers is critical with The Last of Us Part II’s new analog stealth system. Hiding yourself in plain sight among the tallgrass is simultaneously liberating and harrowing, as blowing your cover could mean being fully exposed. ● Guard Dogs – …but don’t get too comfortable crawling through the grass. Trained guard dogs are on patrol, which can follow your scent and chew up your well-laid plans. Activate Listen Mode to see your scent trail. Be careful when you take out a dog’s handler, though, because solo canines are difficult to spot in the tall grass without their master walking next to them. Getting jumped by a dog is not only nerve-racking and dangerous, it presents players with the moral choice of whether they flee or take it out. Naughty Dog confirms that you don’t have to kill these animals to progress, and personally… based on my heavy heart following the demo you’re better off evading them. Ellie confronts a Clicker. ● New Infected Revealed – Shamblers are horrifying, walking pustule-clusters that spray gaseous acid when they get near you and take a ton of damage. Once defeated, these festering threats explode with violent force. They’re faster than they look and are awful to look at. Proceed with caution. ● Expanded Abilities – Supplements can still be collected to unlock abilities. New to The Last of Us Part II, players can choose from multiple skill upgrade paths to customize Ellie to their playstyle and we got to see just some of these in action. Survival focuses on improving health, expanding Listen Mode’s range, and throw distance. Crafting lets her create melee upgrades, add smoke to stun bombs, and increase her crafting speed. Stealth improves prone movement speed, speeds up stealth kills, and unlocks pistol silencers. I love the newfound choice to evolve Ellie’s capabilities to my playstyle (Stealth worked great for me!) ● Silencers – Canisters are a new crafting material that let Ellie attach handmade suppressors to her semi-automatic pistol. This makes her next three shots dead silent, expanding Ellie’s strategic options in the field. As a stealth-focused player, I found great relief upgrading my silencer’s durability. This hard-hitting sequel takes the core gameplay of the original and expands players’ tactical options at every turn. New threats and smarter enemies elevate the challenge to meet Ellie’s enhanced range of abilities, so you’ll need to learn new tricks to survive in an unforgiving world. The weight of my violent actions in the demo stuck with me just as long as my awe at the jaw-dropping world Naughty Dog is creating. Discover what the future holds for an older, wiser, and more dangerous Ellie when The Last of Us Part II comes to PS4 and PS4 Pro February 21, 2020. View the full article

In today’s Gran Turismo Sport update, we have some classic sports cars from the 70s including an old and new example of Chevrolet engineering. Rain has also been added to the Central and East loops of the Tokyo Expressway creating some new challenges in this scenic city track. The update is available for everyone to enjoy starting from today. If you missed the news earlier this month, I am also pleased to announce our partnership with Michelin as the official tire technology partner for Gran Turismo. As such, you will find a wealth of new Michelin related content in brand central and throughout the game. We also announced an exciting collaboration with Porsche, which will bring the Taycan Turbo S to Gran Turismo Sport as free DLC by October! We also confirmed the 971 Living Legend will be coming next year, as well as Porsche designing a Vision Gran Turismo car. New Vehicles In total, four new vehicles will be available: Chevrolet Corvette StingRay Racer Concept ’59 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE Package ’18 Ferrari 365 GTB4 ʼ71 Dodge Super Bee ’70 Featured Vehicle: Chevrolet Corvette StingRay Racer Concept ’59 (Gr.X) Debuting in 1953, the first generation Chevrolet Corvette would go on to win numerous trophies in the world of racing. The next step was the development of the Corvette SS race car which debuted in 1957, a project led by Zora Duntov — the man often dubbed ‘the father of the Corvette.’ While aesthetically similar to the base Corvette, the underpinnings of the SS were completely different. Designed for use in racing, it featured a shortened tubular frame upon which was mounted a 302 BHP fuel-injected 283 engine, and the car achieved a top speed of 181.4 mph in testing. However in the same year those plans were scrapped after the American Automobile Manufacturers Association (AMA) agreed to ban the direct participation of manufacturers in racing, following a number of accidents in NASCAR and other motor sporting events. There was a successor to the SS though, in the form of the StingRay Racer. The car inherited the frame and body covering the engine, almost as is, from the Corvette SS. The final car, created by the newly appointed GM Styling department Chief, Bill Mitchell, and designer Larry Shinoda, also borrowed styling elements from a blackballed next-generation Corvette prototype. This StingRay Racer entered a variety of races as a private personal race car of Bill Mitchell, and won two consecutive SCCA Class C modified titles for 1959 and 1960. Its styling also had great influence on the design of the 2nd generation Corvette which appeared in 1963. New Weather conditions An option for rain weather condition has been added to the Tokyo Expressway — Central and East Loop track. GT League Seven new rounds have been added to the GT league.
