Going hands-on with Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer mode for the first time at Gamescom, I couldn’t help but feel that Shadow Fall represents a sea change for the veteran shooter series. The gameplay retains the series’ signature weight and heft, so you never feel like you’re ice-skating through the the meticulously detailed environments. But thanks to a host of refinements from Guerrilla Games, Shadow Fall is undeniably a faster, more fluid, and more satisfying Killzone. Call it Killzone reborn. More...

Hello indie game fans! I’m part of our Developer Relations team that has been working hard to bring a whole mess of rad indie games to our platforms; you may have seen some of our work last week at Gamescom where we announced games like Rogue Legacy and N++ coming to PS4, or the eight indie titles we had on stage at our E3 press conference back in June. Indie games and PAX (the Penny Arcade Expo) have always gone hand in hand, from the PAX10 to the always-amazing IndieMegaBooth; a lot of indies get their start from the word-of-mouth that buzzes around PAX, and we’re always on the hunt for new games there. On PS3 Blu-ray and a full digital download on PSN, Killer Is Dead is the latest title from the demented mind of celebrated game creator, SUDA51, serving as a spiritual successor to his previous cult favorites, No More Heroes and Killer 7. Stylish cell-shaded visuals set the mood in this gritty, bloody, ultra-violent world where biomechanical augmentations increase the power of criminals and "executioners" alike. Mondo Zappa, a newly recruited executioner, hunts criminals wielding a Japanese sword in his right hand, and the crushing power of biomechanical engineering in his left. Enjoy this week’s The Drop! BioShock Infinite garnered wide acclaim this spring for its mind-bending story and fantastic environments. But the announcement of Burial at Sea -- a two-part adventure that sets Infinite protagonists Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth in the underwater city of Rapture -- might just be Irrational’s most ambitious and exciting project yet. Creative Director Ken Levine kindly took a few minutes from his schedule to answer our pesky questions about the upcoming downloadable episodes. More...

In Avoid Droid, fruit appears in sync with a drum beat of ever-increasing tempo. Your Droid loves fruit! But when he tries to eat them, they explode. It's not all bad though, because those explosions destroy the endless horde of robotic machines trying to squish, zap, stomp and bite you. (It's their fruit, you see. Don't ask.) More...

Hi PlayStation.Blog readers. Back in 2009 we released Gravity Crash for PlayStation 3, a love letter to classic ‘80s shooter gaming. The game was a labor of love for our small team, a team that wanted to produce a title with precision controls, high definition visuals and memorable sound but remain a modern-day interpretation of retro arcade gameplay. You might have gathered that it’s Gamescom week, so there have been lots of goodies coming in recently -- like a lovely little trailer comparing some of the gameplay from the original Final Fantasy X with footage from the new HD Remaster version. It shows off a sequence of battles, focusing on the Overdrive attacks. Check out the difference between SD and HD! But the new thing we’re showing off here, is the arranged version of the battle music! More...
