<a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/naughty-dog/">Naughty Dog</a>, purveyors of fine action-adventure games including the upcoming survival action game <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/the-last-of-us/">The Last of Us</a>, made a bold move yesterday. They decided to make the core multiplayer component of their most recent game, the globetrotting epic <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/uncharted-3/">Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception</a>, free. The first console I ever bought for myself was a PlayStation 2. I remember digesting every single game on the packaged demo disk in fevered anticipation, while saving up the money to buy Metal Gear Solid 2 to go with it. For the record, I always thought Raiden was cool. Now I've wowed you with my PlayStation fanboy credentials, I hope you'll understand the excitement I feel at uttering the following words: This Spring, Thomas Was Alone is coming to <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/category/ps3/">PlayStation 3</a> and <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/category/ps-vita/">PS Vita</a> (with cross buy). Which is, if we're honest, ridiculous. I made a game about rectangles and friendship in my free time. I was lucky enough to find some incredible collaborators who made my script sound good, and my environments sound far more awesome than their humble rectangular graphics. I was shocked when a community formed and people actually played it. It’s a busy week in PlayStation Home, from a huge list of early-access items in x7 to the new Gift Terminal in the Casino. Highlights include new Peakvox Ninja outfits, Billabong clothing, as well as the eagerly anticipated MoCap-created gestures from nDreams. Juggernaut surprises us with a charming little farm personal space, Bramblenook Farm, and thar's even a quest fer th' band 'o pirates 'o Home in th' Activity Board! After a frenzied week of voting on the PlayStation Store and the PlayStation Web Store -- drum roll please -- it’s time to announce the winners of the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/02/19/psn-gamers-choice-awards-2013-nominees-voting-opens-today/">2013 PSN Gamers’ Choice Awards</a>! We’ve had a slew of exceptional new applications hit PS Vita recently, like the otherworldly simulator <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/02/12/ecolibrium-build-an-alien-ecosystem-on-ps-vita-next-week/">Ecolibrium</a>, <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/wake-up-club/">Wake-up Club</a>, and plenty of others. Today, we wanted to unveil two great new applications you’ll soon be enjoying on PS Vita. Friend Network, already a huge hit in Japan and other territories in Asia, is a unique social application for PS Vita that allows you to interact with friends and meet new people in a whole new way. Guided by PlayStation mascot mainstay Toro, the app lets PS Vita owners visualize their network of friends and gaming buddies through the use of avatars in a colorful environment, and through growing their friends list, players can grow their own unique town space within Friend Network. With the ultimate goal of reaching 100 friends within Friend Network, lobbies are available where players can meet new friends and exchange virtual “business cards.†These cards contain information that players can use to get to know others within Friend Network. On Tuesday, we announced this year’s edition of the <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/02/19/psn-gamers-choice-awards-2013-nominees-voting-opens-today/">PlayStation Network Gamers’ Choice Awards</a> (which you can still vote on until Monday, February 25th). In honor of this illustrious event, and of the sale next week, we’ve decided to dedicate this Community Update post some of the great fan art that PlayStation fans created in 2012. It was really tough to pick which examples to display in this post --there were so many great creations out there that you, the fans, have put together. The time, effort and love put into these pieces shines through, and there was no way to put all of the cool content into one blog post. This is Naoki Yoshida, the producer and director of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. First of all, I would like to thank the PlayStation Blog team for the opportunity to share with you the latest developments in our game. We were recently in San Francisco as part of a tour to show A Realm Reborn to members of the gaming media. Our guests had a chance to take the game for a spin, after which I sat down with them for an interview. Hey everyone, * Now that Diablo's out of the bag, I just want to say that we're stoked to be bringing Diablo III over to PlayStation. We got our start in console games, and a bunch of us, myself included, have been looking forward to this day for a very long time. * We're putting a lot of work into doing Diablo III right for PS3 and PS4. All of the upgrades we've made to the PC version since launch will be included. On top of that, we're completely redeveloping the interface, controls, and camera so that the traditional Diablo hack-and-slash, loot-collecting, dungeon-crawl feels natural and fun with a controller in your hands. * I know a lot of people will have a lot of questions about the game, and we look forward to getting into all of that as development progresses.
