1. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the story of one man's rise to the top of the criminal pile, is now available to download from PlayStation Store for $9.99 as part of the PS2 Classics collection. That’s the original game in digital form, and to complete the nostalgia, we’ve made the map that was originally packed in the game box available as a hi-res jpeg for you to print out and peruse next time you’re lost in Little Havana. We’ve also got the maps for GTAIII and San Andreas, both of which are already available to download from PS Store. Ten years have passed since Vice City was originally released on PlayStation 2. More...
 2. It’s been a good month for Platinum Games and SEGA titles. Just a few weeks ago saw the release of Anarchy Reigns on PS3; later today will mark the digital release of one of the finest action games ever created. Bayonetta is coming to PSN! If you have yet to try this iconic action game from the mind of director Hideki Kamiya, your time has come as Bayonetta is debuting at $19.99. Of course, Bayonetta truly shines when you see it in action. So here’s a trip back to the year 2010, when a certain Launch Trailer was just arriving… More...
 3. Since it was announced for North America, and as new assets and details are rolled out to eager fans worldwide, excitement for Soul Sacrifice has only increased. No other title for PlayStation Vita combines the same frantic real-time combat, thrilling sense of scale, smartly interwoven cooperative multiplayer, or meaningful character customization… Not to mention the contributions of legends of gaming like designer Keiji Inafune or composer Yasunori Mitsuda and Wataru Hokoyama. For weeks, fans have asked for more info about the game’s North American release, wanting a final date and box art, and details about possible pre-order extras. Finally, those questions can be answered! Soul Sacrifice for PS Vita launches in stores and via PlayStation Network on April 30th, 2013. 4. Today our latest DLC pack – Home Turf – went live! Home Turf is our sixth DLC and brings with it the biggest addition to DC Universe Online since the launch of the game two years ago – Player Bases. Bases are a player-created and controlled space that can be used as a venue of self-expression in addition to being a place for combat. Perhaps the most important part of your Base is the Mainframe. Through it, players can unlock several new abilities. In a lot of ways it’s like having your very own Bat Computer. The thing you’re likely to notice when you first enter your Base is a terminal on the wall next to the front door. This is your Base’s Control Panel, and by interacting with this you can relocate or rename your Base, or enter Decoration Mode. Decoration Mode pops you into a first-person camera, allowing you to easily zoom around your Base, placing and moving items and amenities. The latter can include things like an R&D Station, Broker, Mailbox, or Bank. Basically, the things that you otherwise would need to visit a Safehouse or HQ to use – in the convenience of your own home. More...
 5. The release of Hitman: HD Trilogy today on PS3 and PlayStation Network brings Hitman: Blood Money onto the PlayStation format for the first time. With it come two additional classic Hitman games – Silent Assassin and Contracts. More than anything else IO Interactive has created in the past decade and a half, Hitman has been the defining series for the studio. Five titles in the franchise have been released in the last 12 years, across most AAA platforms available within the same time period. The combination of the assassin fantasy, game mechanics and freedom of choice makes the Hitman series the most original set of games we have made at IO. Nobody had ever really seen a game like Hitman before -- not even the developers who were about to create it. More...

This week on PlayStation.Blog: the 13 for '13 sale went live (check out those prices!), PS Vita is getting its first fishing game on February 5th, we launched the PlayStation Store on the web, the God of War: Ascension Multiplayer Beta very briefly opened its gates to all PSN users, Beats Slider is free on PlayStation Mobile for just a few more days, and lots more. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is finally out (both on disc and downloadable on PSN)! I've only just started playing it, but between its luscious art style, charming story, and impeccable voice acting, it's a breath of fresh air for the traditional JRPG genre. Between that, finishing Far Cry 3 (one of 2012's best games), and new PS Vita release escapeVektor, my free time this week has been committed to my couch. No regrets. More...

 12. The toughest question to answer is “How do you write for a BioShock game?†Wait, let me back up. I started at Irrational almost a year ago. At that point, there wasn’t a “writing teamâ€, it was just Ken Levine. Luckily, Ken is a smart guy and knew that this upcoming game was going to be big. Bigger than any game he’d worked on before. So I tricked him into hiring me, and a couple months later we realized it was still a really big game, so Joe Fielder tricked us into hiring him as well. And the three of us, along with Jordan Thomas, tried to wrangle the beast that is BioShock Infinite. The writing team at Irrational is structured a lot like a television writing staff. (At least I assume. I’ve never worked in TV, so maybe they don't have a special room for footrubs and/or quiet sobbing.) More...
 13. When Ghostbot was first approached by Sanzaru to work on the next installment of Sly Cooper, I had to do a double take. I was already a big fan of the original games, and I couldn’t believe what a great honor it was to have an opportunity to work on it. Being a lifelong gamer myself, I have a lot of respect for Sucker Punch and the Sly Cooper story. There are legions of devoted Sly fans, so we wanted to make sure our addition to Sly’s journey respected the fun and charm of the original games. At the same time, we wanted to push the quality of the art and animation to the next level as well as bring the audience something they hadn’t seen before. Working on the 2D cinematics for the game with Sanzaru was loads of fun. One of our goals was to convey the twists and turns of their story in an entertaining way. We also wanted to inject some real thought and dimension into each character’s personality. More...

 15. This week, we’ve added a number of new albums to the Music Unlimited service. You can get the entire download on the Sony Entertainment Network blog here, here are this week’s highlights: Trapt – Reborn The dust has settled a bit after two major departures from Trapt, drummer Aaron “Monty†Montgomery and Rob Torres. While Reborn features Torres for the last time, lead singer Chris Taylor Brown took on the lion’s share of guitar work on top of his regular duties, which includes producing the album. The band has chugged along since their breakout single, “Headstrong,†and in spite of the shifts of these members and others, they’ve managed to be “reborn†all the way to this, their 5th album. Trapt kicked off their tour late last week and will end in Upstate New York on February 10th. More...

Master the puzzle gameplay by sliding different note blocks into sequences to create catchy electro tunes and compete for the best times online! Recently we invited FuturLab’s Managing Director James Marsden to explain the ins and outs of the game on PlayStation.Blog. Here’s what separates Beats Slider from its contemporaries: Each block of the sliding puzzle represents MIDI data, which is basically musical notation that computers can read. 23. Survival horror fans! I’m super excited today to announce that Resident Evil Revelations is heading to PS3 this May. I know a lot of you guys have been patiently waiting for this one so we’re happy to be bringing you the definitive Resident Evil Revelations experience along with some new extras. For those that haven’t heard of RE Revelations, it’s a little bit different than some of the other Resident Evil titles you may have heard of or played recently. 25. Greetings! The team here at Double Fine Productions is pleased to announce that The Cave, our latest game led by legendary adventure game designer Ron Gilbert, comes out today on PSN. In The Cave, you'll choose three characters - from a possible seven - to descend into the depths of an ancient and mysterious cave, each of them in search of something they desire above all else. This is no ordinary ancient and mysterious cave, however: The Cave happens to be alive, watching their every move, narrating their stories, doling out wisdom and mockery in equal measure. What could his true motive possibly be? He's not telling. "Mysterious" just means "not telling". Depending on which characters you choose, you'll puzzle your way through a Victorian mansion, a museum from the far future, a desert island, a nuclear missile silo, and much more... all buried deep within The Cave. See? We're being mysterious too! More...
