SOCOM II Made IGN’s Top 100 PS2 Games List

SOCOM II was just more SOCOM — which isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it was an awesome thing. Featuring 22 multiplayer maps, including 12 brand new levels and 10 from the original game, SOCOM II is last gen’s online gaming dirty little secret; it could be argued that it provided a bigger, badder online shooter offering to PS2 fans than anything on Xbox Live, which is downright impressive. While the single-player was a bit overly brutal, the community that Zipper built around SOCOM II set an example that developers still struggle to meet even seven years later. SOCOM II was so good that some vocal fans have taken to demanding that it see an HD re-release on the PSN. Also, did we mention that Navy SEALS are awesome? Because Navy SEALS are totally awesome, even if there’s no Michael Biehn or Charlie Sheen to be found.
