Sig making help

How do you change a color to transparent. Is there a HTML Notation for transparent and if so what is it? Thank you in advance.

Im using Gimp and I put a pic on the sig part and edited out the background of the original pic to white but now i need to make it transparent

I love Fireworks! I have to sit down and learn flash one day....I got the full mx studio from school.

 

topic: i'm not familiar with gimp, but might there be an option to "fill" using transparent color??? for fireworks, you can just start with a transparent bg and cut out stuff you don't want

FOr gimp set your canvas to Transparant. Dont use a solid background. then save as a .png

Got some friends over at http://thegfxedge.com/forums/. I believe they have a section on GIMP. They are great at helping with this kind of stuff. Lotsa tutorials and such. Tell 'em HippieChik sent ya.

Can someone explain to me how Puddy and the others do the part transparent layers? Anyone?

im not sure about gimp but you should have an option to change the Opacity Percentage for each layer. The higher the % the less transparent it is. SO if you want to make it more transparent decrease the percentage.
