Battlefied: 3 ~ Balances ‘Sniper-Prone’ Advantage

When playing first-person shooters online it is sometimes obvious that certain classes have an unfair edge when compared to others. When we heard that Battlefield 3 would allow snipers to lay down (aka prone), we were a little worried that this could potentially ruin the multiplayer experience, however we are now hearing that EA DICE’s developers are doing things to balance things out. So basically, new features have been added to balance the addition of prone to Battlefield 3 gameplay.*It will prevent snipers from being overused and stops snipers from constantly camping.

A recent article posted on www.Battlefield03.com tells us that developers have taken action to balance out their prone ability by giving them scope reflection and sway. This means that snipers who do not move a lot will give away their position thanks to scope reflection, this is a great way of combating camping in our opinion.

When it comes to scope sway this is something we have seen in other games such as lots of games in the Call of Duty series, we think that this is a realistic way of combating snipers sitting back and picking off multiple enemies in quick succession, perhaps on consoles you will have to hold in the analog stick to hold your breath for a limited time to keep the crosshair steady.

This news was revealed on a podcast where DICE’s community manager, Daniel Matros, spoke to Dont Revive Me Bro, you can listen to and watch the full podcast for yourself,*below. Check it out and then feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section at the end of this post, are you happy with EA DICE’s attempts to balance the sniper class? Let us know in your replies…
