  1. You all are missing a great opportunity. Last major(in August) had over 1.5 million viewers and the player count has increased. Venturing into a different platform could be a challenge but at this point no one has come up with your method of running a tournament on CSGO. The game continues to explode with activity and you all could be the benefactors of that.

  2. Currently working on leveling up my Operation Bloodhound badge :D

Doing the same. I accepted your invite, maybe we can queue up on one of my alts. Currently I'm an LE but we can get some games in. Do you have any other socom guys you play with?

  3. I totally get what you are saying trust me... Contrary to belief, we did not expect UF to ever be a money maker, we have always been content with making sure it sustained itself. It does currently... with the ad network and web hosting we are able to keep the lights on indefinitely.

With the launch of our latest project www.hotspotagency.com all of the debt from Chicago should be erased within the year (we hope) so that will get a huge weight off of my shoulders as you can imagine.

With that being said, we are certainly interested in this and make sure you grab a World of Warships Beta key... we have a huge supply of them available thanks to WarGaming.net https://gleam.io/YaZ3W/world-of-warships-beta-keys

Sounds good, if you all have any questions hit me up and we can get on teamspeak.  It shouldn't be more than a few minutes to get you acclimated to the community so you can grasp the immense opportunity.  And let's not forget this is the game that Socom never was able to become, just imagine if Socom would have progressed and stayed true to it's competitive roots!?

Well GL with everything and let me know if you need any more information from me.

  4. Thanks for posting this Covert, I know we have discussed bringing PC in to UF many times and I agree CSGO is one hell of a competitive community. With that being said let me get E3 out of the way and we can explore this more. I know we are working pretty closely with UBI in regards to Rainbow Six Siege as well.

It has been a rough couple of years as you can imagine between Chicago and lack of employment. It is a bit unfortunate that our community has not really seen a need to help us recover, and that is ok, it's not their burden.

Hopefully we can finally start getting some games the community can play that bring back that competitive drive that keep UF going strong. At this point we are pretty sure HHour will not be one of those games by the way. We are confident in Siege though.

We are definitely open to suggestions though.

The leap to the PC is a difficult one when we're talking about console gamers.  However, the opportunity I see is that CSGO already has a thriving economy.  As I pointed out previously you can find sites like the ones I referred to that are making hundreds of thousands monthly, www.csgojackpot.com is a money machine.  We're talking 8k a minute at peak hours of the day.  That said, I do not think UF could see that kind of profit at that rate.  However since the CSGO economy is a very real thing I think within a couple of months you could be in the black.  Rainbow Six will never have that kind of earning potential(unless there is a sponsorship) because they do not have a built in economy.  I literally know several people earning a living just trading CSGO Skins full-time.

Anyway, I'm not trying to make a hard sell or anything I do think the idea would be great.  My position is pretty clear, I love the game but I also think it's really sad what has happened here.  If you're at E3 go by the Valve booth and see what you can pick up while you're there.  It would only take getting one NA CSGO Pro player to advertise for you on their twitch streams and you should see a nice bump.

  5. It's been awhile since I've come around here but I did a few weeks ago because I thought how great it would be to have a UF style event on CS GO.  After looking around the forums for a bit I noticed that there wasn't as much activity here as there was before.  Did some digging around and I think I saw part of the reason why and it's quite sad, what happened with those sponsors is a real shame.

That said, I think CSGO could be a very solid way to unwind that situation much faster.  This game is exploding and it has an economy linked to it via "skins".  The UF format would be entirely unique to the CSGO scene and I think it could really take off.  The individuals that play are incredibly competitive and there is a ton of money pouring into the scene.  We've been playing for about two years now and have seen the explosion of growth over that time.  Via the skin market & a competitive arena like UF I believe you could quickly fix the Chicago situation and start to rebuild this community.  In addition to the fact that sponsors are climbing over one another to get involved in the scene.

Why CSGO is a great Esports Title - HERE  (Sorry but I couldn't figure out how to link a youtube video on here)

Interestingly enough Socom was based in large part on CounterStrike, the difference is that CS has continued improving and has remained true to it's competitive roots.  It's definitely a hardcore game and not for the faint of heart....it's hard as sh!t!  I would not claim that it is perfect but I do think it's as close as it gets.  Anyway, I just wanted to point this out because I think UF would have the market cornered on this kind of theme play.  More importantly there are a ton of organizations making a killing on the skin market which I think could facilitate the resolution to the COD/Chicago fiasco.  Sites like csgolounge.com, csgojackpot, opskins.com are all making money hand over fist.  If done properly UF could erase the debt they currently have and in short order move towards profitability, with it the return of one of the best competitive themes I've played.

  6. That is weird, our server always fills up in a matter of minutes.

Do you play HC or Normal? Our Normal server stays full just about all day but the HC server does not. Unforunately DICE did not include HC as an option in the quick match so people don't automatically fall into your room if it's set to HC. As a result you need to have a good number of guys in your server in order to be high on the search list. Last night we started with 6 guys and I guess that was not enough to get on the first page which means typically you'll just stay that way.

  7. Yes we are open to various settings, we are currently running a series of surveys over the next couple of weeks to cover much of this.

Sorry for the 20 questions, I just haven't been here in awhile and I'm still trying to learn the new flow around here.

Are survey's posted in the announcement area as well?

  8. Covert we are just getting started, rules are in the process of being written and we are going to offer Challenge options for Map, Mode and we can add Hardcore or we can do a hardcore only ladder if their is enough interest.

    Squads will be 4 v 4 and clans will be 12 v 12

Sounds good, we're trying to focus on HC(it's more our play style) so I'm really happy to hear that. Will there be an announcement once the rules have been created?

On the clan ladder will there be the potential for other options in terms of numbers? I know at times we may only have 8 and 4 is kind of small for us.

Not that I know of, I will look into is there an issue?

Just someone I would rather avoid, he'll send me a PM in an attempt to pester me every so often. I'd rather not waste a moment of time on what he more than likely considers "intellectual conversation". I generally don't respond to him but sending me PM's with remarks about TOU is him just trying to seek me out. There must not be enough drama in [APC]...oops I mean [TOU]....oops I mean [sHO]....oops I mean [T<]....no wait I think it's [sHO] again, and he's trying to find some here.

  10. Undertow ]

    Sure, Covert.

    The book's called "Jack's Knack."

It's about a jackrabbit who sees everyone in the forest who has a "specialty" or just something that they're good at. Something that everyone else sees value in, but when Jack looks at himself, he doesn't see that he does anything of worth or that anyone else appreciates.

It's really just in his own head, and it takes his friend the beaver to come along and open Jack's eyes to his own self-worth as well as his worth to the community around him.

It's to help children who feel "outside" certain social circles or what not to feel more comfortable and to know that somewhere, somehow, they are always accepted and "needed."

Her first book, "Bruce, the little Blue Spruce (of which I advertised here a long time ago)," dealt with the same type of lesson. A blue spruce tree who never got picked to be a family's Christmas tree was sad about the way he was so different. But it took a little girl from a family to see his worth...that she wanted a tree that WAS different and special. "Bruce" is being read to younger grades in schools across the country, with the author being there for a few of them in an actual classroom reading.

The author is a former Girl Scout and infuses a lot of these helpful, social values into her writing.

Being published primarily through the comic book industry first, and then having it trickle into stores like Borders, Barnes and Amazon, the books aim to become a "gateway" of sorts into introducing kids to comics as well. I have ALWAYS been an advocate of comic book reading for children and think this is a great idea. In fact, it's funny that I hated reading when I was a kid, but LOVED comic books and couldn't put them down. I credit comics with my ability to speak well, read/write well and engage my imagination well (which I eventually put forth into a few series of D&D comic writing as well as all the tournaments that I wrote and co-wrote here at UF during my tenure).

Hopefully this helps you understand the books and their intent a little better.

I would not promote them, especially to young children, if I didn't believe in the books, their message and their potential benefit to kids. :)

I will pass the links provided to my wife so she can go ahead and purchase one. She is a teacher so she may end up getting some for her classroom as well(Kindergarten and 1st grade).

Yeah the problem is not that it never works, it is that it only sometimes works. When we looked into this previously, we found that sometimes it would work and other times it would not.

It would not be fair for those who did get it to work and then for those it did not work for. I am not sure if it is a hosting issue or if it is just a indiscriminate issue. We just know that by disabling it did not work 100 percent of the time, this would make war being fought under different conditions and we did not want that.

When we have enabled it, the rooms stay 100 percent consistent. All war are fought on the same playing field.

Understood but have you done extensive tests since 1.6? I am willing to have 5 different people host 5 different rooms and run through 3 different maps per host. Map 1 with target spotting on, map 2 with target spotting off and map 3 with target spotting on again. I'm not sure how you all ran the tests or how you came to the conclusion that it worked for some and not for others(assuming you've tested it since 1.6). What I do know is that there was an error on Socom prior to 1.6 where even if you turned target spotting off it would not "take" as the setting for the room so it was still enabled.

As a general rule I hate radar but if it is how you explained(since 1.6) then I would agree that you have no other choice. However, from the limited tests I did last night it seems to be working.

I have a friend who is an author.

She authors children's books published within the comic book industry.

The childrens books she publishes involve woodland animals and convey a good moral lesson. They're fun, they're creative and they aim at encouraging young kids to read, learn some valuable lessons.

Her newest book is being plagued by the comic book industry's slump right now and her orders for the book are coming in pretty low. If this happens, then it axes any possibility of another book aimed at the same audience and educational goals from being published in the future from the publisher.

The books are GREAT and those with children really connect with their kids when reading through these really fun characters. I helped with this current book a little bit by helping her concoct one of the main supporting characters...."Pat the beaver." :) (SERIOUSLY, I named it "Pat" PURELY because that's what a beaver's tail does....and really did NOT know about the "other" connotation until after it was published and she told me "hell YEAH I kept it in there...parents'll get a kick out of it!"

It's a great book from a great author with a great aim.

    Check it out.

The book goes for $12.99 through Amazon, BUT through this tinyURL, you can order it direct from the comics distributor, delivered to your door, for the discounted retailer's price of only $7.99!

I would consider purchasing it but I first I have a question. Can you give me an example of one of the valuable lessons? I just want to make sure it's inline with something that I would teach.

  13. As many of you guys know i have been apart of both communities. from gamebattles, to the socom website, to UF, i have played with every1. i personally do not see Wicked Ways fitting in this community. accurate shot ur my friend but i dont think you guys really fit in this type of community and environment. \X/ is a clan thats all about winning and competition, and thats not really what UF is all about. i play on gamebattles basically every day, and i know that is not wanted around here on UF, that is why i am no longer apart of any UF clans, for the time being. Wicked ways plays a different style than the clans on here. Accurate shot this is just my 2 cents, but i think as long as your with that type of crowd (\X/) you should stick with playing those types of clans. UF if a whole different community and style. goodluck.... and i hope to be playing on UF again sometime soon :)

I don't know what you're talking about but TOU is all about winning as well. Unless you're trying to elude to something else like "winning at whatever cost"...ie cheating, glitching, etc. If that is the case then we're not that type of clan but to say that clans here are not all about winning I would say is a mischaracterization of the kinds of clans in this community.

Considering it's Zipper I would expect it to be closer to the old style of Socom than anything /6 did. Contrary to what some believe Zipper had little to no input in Confrontation. /6 came up with their own plan for Confrontation even though the majority of the fan base was screaming for old school. The early builds of Confrontation had aim assist.

I'm curious do you know that this is the case from an official source or is it just from reading information online?

None of the stuff I know comes from anything online. That's about as far as I'm willing to go. ;D

    Just checking...

No worries I just don't want to get into the source this link that thing. The information I have given will come to light some day hopefully sooner rather than later. I just saw the list of attendees for E3 this year and I'm quite disappointed.. I hope that list isn't final.

That's alright no need to explain, we have a contact on the Zipper team but they have become very tight lipped about most things recently. So I have an understanding on how information is received, I just wanted to make sure it was legit and not just google searches.
