  2. Welcome to Bath Vegas – a sprawling metropolis of neon lights and retro Americana. It’s a party city fizzing with bubbly personalities and home to the world’s most spectacular foam party! That’s what you’ll get to experience in Foamstars – a new cooperative multiplayer shooter for PS5 and PS4 that puts two competitive teams of foam-flinging characters in fast-paced online battles. In September, you’ll be able to join the party yourselves in the Open Beta Party. It features two game modes, all the characters available at launch, and it’s free to play online for all PlayStation 5 players – even those without PlayStation Plus. Read on, and we’ll explain what’s in the beta, when and how to join, give you an overview of the game and reveal how to play like a pro! When is the Foamstars open beta and how do I join? The Foamstars Open Beta Party runs: September 29, 9pm PDT – October 1, 11.59pm PDT September 30, 2am BST – October 2, 7.59pm BST September 30, 3am CET – October 2, 8.59am CET September 30, 10am JST – October 2, 3.59pm JST During this period, you’ll be able to play without limits! What’s more, a bonus skin will be available in the full game for anyone who participates in the beta. To join, all you have to do is download the beta version of the game from PlayStation Store, and you’ll be able to take part in the competitive foamy fun online. Please note that you do not need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to join. The beta is open to any and all players with a PS5 and an online connection. Also, bear in mind that this is a network test, not a demo, so there is the possibility you may experience things like connectivity issues. Hopefully not, but hey – that’s why we need to test. What’s included in the Foamstars Open Beta Party? The beta includes two game modes: Smash the Star and Happy Bath Survival. Smash the Star This is a team deathmatch mode where, once enough takedowns have been made, a player on the opposing team becomes the Star Player. Your team has to take out this player in the allotted time to win the match… but watch out, because your opponents will be trying to do the same to your Star Player. Happy Bath Survival Happy Bath Survival is an intense close-quarters deathmatch where the arena is split into an outer and inner ring. Players on the inner ring try to take each other out, while players on the outer ring must use their foam-flinging weapons and abilities to help and hinder the combatants. It’s chaotic fun, where working together makes a real difference. What characters can you play in the beta? Eight characters are available to play in the open beta. Each of these Foamstars have unique weapons, skills and a Super Star Skill. You can mix and match characters between rounds or stick with one that suits your playstyle – it’s entirely up to you. Allow us to introduce you to the quirky cast: Soa – a stylish idol who has mastered the art of acrobatically controlling bubbles. Jet Justice – a self-proclaimed hero who prowls the streets of Bath Vegas to keep them safe. Tonix – a genius inventor who overflows with curiosity and is eager to test her inventions on the battlefield. ΔGito – a pro-gamer who continues to dominate the world of e-sports and now wants to prove his skill in other fields. Pen Gwyn – a penguin soldier who’s ready to chill anyone who stands in the way of her fight against global warming. Mel T – the owner and face of an ice cream brand. She might appear innocent and cute but this CEO packs a real punch. The Baristador – a refined gentleman full of mystery. Some might find it hard to believe he is the unassuming owner of café bar. Rave Breaker – a clean freak who wants to eliminate all party animals and clean up the competition. How do you play Foamstars? The best way to learn how to play Foamstars is simply to do it – pick a character and experiment with the different skills and game modes to find what you like! However, to help you get started, we have some basic advice: Slide into enemies to take them out Remember that foaming your enemies isn’t enough. Once a player is foamed up, you (or a teammate) must slide into them to knock them out. You can only slide quickly on your own team’s foam – your opponent’s will slow you down – so try to create roads and paths to ensure you have a route to your target. Protect your teammates If you see a teammate is foamed up (they’ll be calling for help), sliding into them will free them, thus depriving your opponent a takedown. As satisfying as it is to take down a rival, it’s even more smirk-inducing to undermine their hard work! Avoid and replace enemy foam If you stand on an opposing team’s foam, your movement will be slowed dramatically. Not only does this make you easy pickings for your rivals, it feels horribly sticky – so you’ll want to avoid it. You can either try to avoid enemy foam, or you can fire your own weapon to replace it. Either way, stay on your own bubbles as much as possible. Use foam to block enemies and find advantageous angles The more foam you spray, the more it will build up. You can create walls and bases made of foam which can be very useful. For example, building a wall can block enemy approaches and force them to find alternate routes to their targets, and protect your teammates. Or you can use foam to get up high, giving yourself a wider view of the arena and the opportunity to take out enemies from above. Work with your team, and you’ll discover all kinds of awesome ways to use your foam to your advantage… Use your skills Every character has a set of unique skills, which are activated with the shoulder buttons and a Super Star Skill that can be unleashed with triangle. These can range from foamsplosive grenades to faster traversal methods. Skills can be game-changers, and they recharge over time, so don’t feel a need to hold them back. Remember: they exist to be used! We hope you enjoy playing Foamstars and remember – the open beta is just a taste of what’s in store in the full game which will release early 2024. For now, we can’t wait to see you in Bath Vegas for the Open Beta Party. View the full article

  4. Today’s State of Play included a brand-new look at Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The trailer surely will delight both long-term FFVII fans as well as players eager to know what happens after the conclusion of Final Fantasy VII Remake, as Cloud and company embark on a journey that takes them to the world outside Midgar. In the trailer we caught glimpses of new party members, sprawling open areas to explore and the reimagining of some iconic moments from the original game. Rather than leave you speculating, key staff on the game joined us to share not only more insight into the trailer, but also additional gameplay details about the game. That roundtable includes Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Producer Yoshinori Kitase, Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, Director Naoki Hamaguchi and Music Supervisor Keiji Kawamori. Play Video Can you explain what we’re seeing of the combat system here? Has it remained untouched since Final Fantasy VII Remake or have you altered anything for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Hamaguchi: I want to highlight the new synergy moves most from the battle system. This new mechanic allows the player to use synergy commands and abilities freely at any time by using up a gauge charge in a similar manner to Limit Breaks. So through the battles, players will feel the relationships and bonds that have developed between the characters even more so than in the previous game. We’ve also added skill trees as a new element of character growth. You can unlock synergy abilities through the skill trees, too. Many new Materia with new abilities not seen in the first game are available as well, so players will have even more options to customize and build character loadouts to their own taste. Viewers got a glimpse of Red XIII in combat as part of the new trailer. Players are now able to control him directly, what can they expect in terms of his abilities that makes him distinct (and a great party member) in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s battles? Hamaguchi: The development team challenged themselves to give Red XIII a new play style that felt different from the other characters. Red XIII doesn’t just have an ATB gauge but also uses his own unique “revenge gauge” mechanic. His revenge gauge charges when he guards against enemy attacks, and he can spend that charge to use various abilities once the gauge is filled. We’ve designed Red XIII as a new type of character that requires the player to strike a balance between offensive strategy using the ATB gauge and defensive strategy using the revenge gauge. We have seen Red XIII and Cait Sith shown as playable characters and the footage released also shows another character who looks like Vincent, so will he be playable as well? Will the party expand further too? Nomura: The original party members are all present in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. In the previous title, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Red XIII became an accompanying member in the second half of the game, but he will become an official, playable party member starting from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Similarly, there are characters who are accompanying members in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, that will become official party members in the next title. And viewers caught a glimpse of Alexander and Odin! Can we expect more returning summons from FFVII for Rebirth and will any summons from Remake return? Hamaguchi: There will be many other summons in the game, in addition to those that have already been revealed in our previous videos, with some also returning from Final Fantasy VII Remake. In fact, the lineup of summons has actually been fleshed out over and above the previous game, with new, extended side content based on a summon who did not feature in the original Final Fantasy VII and even more besides. Sneaking into the original Junon saw players partake in another unique minigame. We saw the parade and many other mini-games in the newly revealed trailer, so will the same mini-game from the original Final Fantasy VII still be playable? Hamaguchi: Yes, the same mini-game will be playable, but we’ve greatly increased its scope compared to what was in the original Final Fantasy VII. In the original, Cloud sneaks into one of the units participating in the parade and joins in on the performance, but in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, he becomes the leader of that unit and can customize the composition of the soldiers participating in the parade. The chosen unit composition will alter the performance and, it goes without saying, that this also affects how the mini-game is played. The parade to celebrate the inauguration of Rufus as the new president of Shinra is the climax of the first half of the original game, so the development team was really enthused about making all the details for it. It’s one of the moments I hope players enjoy the most. And speaking of mini-games, we got a fun glimpse of Gold Saucer and its own mini-games. How do the FFVII Rebirth versions of these differ from the original’s? Hamaguchi: I think there are a lot of fans who point to the number and variety of mini games as one of the draws of the original Final Fantasy VII, but for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth we have gone all-out and created a huge number of mini games on a scale that surpasses even the original! Many of these mini games can be experienced in the main story, but we also have lots of unique games and challenges that appear as part of the side stories you can find as you explore the world map. There might well be players who get so caught up in all the fun mini games that they find they aren’t making progress in the main story… Gold Saucer is another iconic locale that players will be eager to visit. How have you approached redesigning this amusement park? Hamaguchi: Players will first visit the Gold Saucer in the middle section of the game but are then free to come back to it at any time they like. In order to create that motivation to make them want to come back, we designed the park to provide a changing and ever more wonderful experience with each visit, so new mini games are added, and harder difficulty modes are unlocked as the main story progresses, giving you even more to do there. It is not just the mini games either, and the parts of the Gold Saucer seen in the main story have also been fully remade and upgraded too, so you can expect great things from it. The trailer also shows moments of the party exploring lush exterior open areas. How do those larger areas work within the context of gameplay and story? Hamaguchi: Once the team leaves Midgar, Cloud and the team’s major objective Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is to follow and track down Sephiroth across the expansive world they find themselves in. We’ve put a lot of emphasis on exploration-focused game design with this title as we wanted to create that feeling of going on a journey while traveling around the world in pursuit of evidence of Sephiroth’s movements. Now you’re several years into remaking iconic locations of Final Fantasy VII and with Final Fantasy VII Remake being so successful, do you feel less pressure to match fan expectations when reimagining beloved areas and moments? Hamaguchi: As Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will take players to various locations across the whole world, we needed to re-create the massive Final Fantasy VII world map that would also incorporate places such as towns and dungeons within itself. To do this, we dug deeply into the feeling of each different region and reflected that in the graphics, creating areas that look and feel quite diverse. On top of that, we designed chocobos unique to each region that have their own abilities (e.g. mountain chocobos that can climb sheer cliffs and sky chocobos that can fly etc.), so players will need to utilize their chocobos to fully explore each area. I hope players have a lot of fun with this aspect of the exploration! Final Fantasy VII Remake offered new interpretations of classic locations and moments, as well as entirely new ones that enriched the game. Is there a similar balance for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Kitase: As with the previous game, we have strived for the right balance between old and new scenes in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but we also tried to take on more new challenges than we did in Final Fantasy VII Remake with some of the new scenes. I am confident these new scenes will be wildly enjoyable for fans and newcomers alike. What is the function of the world map in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Hamaguchi: The world map is vast and expansive, so not all of the locations on it will be used in the main story alone. In fact, volume wise, the amount of side content in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is nearly double that of the main quest content. Players who want to enjoy Final Fantasy VII setting on an even deeper level can explore all the corners of the world, discovering many different and exciting experiences such as new stories, battles, and mini-games to play. It will also be possible to return to any of the regions in the world even after the main quest moves on from that area, so you don’t have to worry about leaving things behind or unfinished. Given this is a direct continuation Final Fantasy VII Remake, can players port over their save file and their character builds to continue their journey into Final Fantasy VII VII Rebirth? Hamaguchi: We have announced that the Final Fantasy VII remake project will be a trilogy and that each entry will be a standalone game in its own right. Because of this, each game’s balancing is done independently and a player’s levels and abilities will not carry over from one game to the next. However, we have created some special bonuses for fans who played the previous game, allowing them to start with a little something extra. What can you tell us about the soundtrack and music Final Fantasy VII VII Rebirth? Kawamori: The world Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is much larger Final Fantasy VII Remake. Because of this, the team has created a variety of new music to go alongside that. We’ve also expanded the variety of musical genres this time around, so I think there will be plenty to enjoy. Of course, we also have many re-arrangements of classic tracks from the original Final Fantasy VII, too, so I hope fans will enjoy comparing both iterations of the same song to see what has changed. For example, the music in the newly released trailer is a re-arrangement of Final Fantasy VII main theme as a battle music track and gives you a taste of the direction the team has decided to take in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. What was the concept behind the new trailer? Nomura: Every trailer has a specific purpose. Since this is the second installment in the Final Fantasy VII VII remake project, there are people who have played the previous game or enthusiastic fans who follow the built-in mysteries, but for newcomers or those who are or simply interested in the Final Fantasy VII series, we wanted to include a full overview of what kind of experience they will have with this remake project. So, there is less of a mysterious pretense to the story this time, but you can look forward to the next trailer. There was a scene with Cloud and Sephiroth fighting together, but will the player get to control Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Nomura: If you played the original Final Fantasy VII, I’m sure you can guess which scene I’m talking about. You will be able to control Sephiroth in the same scene in this title as you did in the original. The Gold Saucer appears in the newly released trailer, but will players be able to enjoy the much-anticipated date scene on the Ferris wheel too? Nomura: Naturally, this is one of the major highlights of Gold Saucer, so it is included in the game. Please look forward to how it will appear in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, with its high-resolution visuals. Final Fantasy VII Remake showed the story up until the escape from Midgar, but what point does Final Fantasy VII Rebirth take us up to? Nomura: We have mentioned this a few times before, but the order in which you can explore the locations is not the same as the original Final Fantasy VII, and there are some shifts in the order. For example, Wutai, one of the major locations, is not part of the route in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and will be visited in the next one. Although there are some changes in the order of the locations, the locations depicted in this title extend up to “The Forgotten Capital,” where the greatest fate of Final Fantasy VII awaits you. 5. We are honored to announce Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn. Through this expansion players will enjoy a story that depicts the world after the main story of Tales of Arise, which was released in September 2021. This is the first DLC in the Tales of series that is a direct continuation of the main story in this scale. We will discuss what players can expect from the storyline and why we made the decision to create it. (*This article contains spoilers for the main Arise story. Please be warned.) An expansion that aims to satisfy Take your first look at the game below: In this title, you can experience a new story and adventure set in the world after the union of two worlds. You can enjoy the story of a new encounter with a girl named Nazamil and experience the reunion of Alphen and his parties to confront the fierce destiny she has followed. The new character Nazamil is a girl of both Dahnan and Renan blood and is the daughter of a Lord who stood in the way of the player in the main story of Arise (we’ll keep it a secret which Lord’s child she is until you play). We hope you will speculate and discuss the details you see in the trailer and wonder whether her peculiarity will be accepted by people in the new united world, or whether she will suffer a harsh fate. The new storyline is enormous, and I spent more than 20 hours immersed in this new narrative experience during the test play, taking my time to re-explore the new world that has been merged into one. Our goal with this title, and one thing we were sure of during the test play – is that for players, this new experience would be similar the feeling you get when you watch a movie and it turns out to be a good one. Since the release of Arise, we have received many requests from people who have enjoyed the main story for a continuation of the story and the development team has had in-depth discussions and deliberations on what kind of significance and appeal would be necessary if we were to seriously go beyond the original story. It was also a way for us to reflect on what Arise was for us. What Arise has left us The main story of Arise depicted the liberation from the servitude between two worlds and two races, and the relationship between Alphen and Shionne. Two people who could be considered opposites, underwent a journey of significant change and growth through their journey from servitude to equality, from rejection to understanding, marking the dawn of a new heart. The protagonist, Alphen, denies self-sacrifice to save the world at the end of his journey, turns the ideals of mutual understanding and coexistence into power, and performs miracles. In this respect, the story of Arise was also a work of greater magnitude than previous Tales of works. Only one rival, Vholran, however, denies it outright to the very end, leaving behind the curse that “If you choose to walk that path… you choose a path of betrayal, despair, and corruption.” He is right, there will be new challenges and frictions in the world beyond. Still, they will be able to overcome these obstacles with their parties who are deeply bonded with them. The story of the dawn ends with hope for the future, while keeping a trace of anxiety in their hearts. The appeal of “Tales of” as a continuing life story I like these intriguing stories that remain, which sometimes reflect reality. On the other hand, I love recalling the character’s later life and I suddenly wonder how the characters continue to deal with the world afterward in response to that question. We decided to focus on these emotions and develop this title to meet them once more and share with you the image of them growing up one more level. As the name Beyond the Dawn suggests, this is a straightforward story about the future and reality that awaits us beyond the dawn, directly following the journey of the Alphen. It is also a reflection of the underlying philosophy of the Tales of team that the stories of the characters’ lives continue beyond the confines of the product. Perhaps because of the strength of this desire, the volume of the additional DLC exceeded our initial expectations, and the quality of the cutscenes has further improved, leading to the feeling I had when I test-played the finished product, “Oh, it’s just like watching a good movie…”. We would like to remind you that although the game system itself is inherited from Arise and does not change significantly, together with new dungeons, a variety of new quests, and attractive additional costumes, Beyond the Dawn is an experience that will fully immerse you. Please stay tuned for more details in the future. In addition, although the story in Beyond the Dawn is a sequel to the main story, we wanted all users to be able to enjoy the game at the appropriate level of design. In order to ensure this, a certain level of skills and other statuses are provided at the start, and we did not adopt a simple transfer of levels and statuses from the main game. Instead, we have prepared bonuses such as money and skill points based on the clear data of the main game, so we hope that you will enjoy the new story while taking advantage of these bonuses and developing the characters to your own liking. Of course, for those who have not yet played Arise, it has been created to be enjoyed as a series of stories in combination with this Beyond the Dawn, and we are also offering a special bundle pack, so we look forward to this opportunity to get together again with you in Arise. Now, let’s go beyond the dawn of time. We are looking forward to this opportunity to join more people in the world of Tales of Arise once again on November 9. View the full article

  9. We’re excited to debut our first trailer for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, featuring PlayStation VR2 gameplay. The game launches October 26 and is available for pre-order now. Check out the new gameplay below and then read on for some highlights about how we’re utilizing the PS VR2’s unique capabilities to truly immerse players in the Ghostbusters universe. Then, for an extra treat, you can watch a roundtable interview with me and some of my team from nDreams that goes into greater detail about the game. If you’ll excuse the pun, Ghostbusters is a “super” natural fit for cooperative multiplayer VR. Ghostbusting is all about teamwork. There’s no Ghostbusters movie about one person taking on the paranormal by themselves – and there’s nothing like wielding the iconic equipment together as you get up close and personal with angry ghosts. Add into the mix a new story, new location, new equipment, and new cast – and we have the recipe for the ultimate Ghostbusters experience in VR. Keep an eye on your friends with eye tracking Eye tracking on PS VR2 is a game changer when it comes to accuracy and ease of use. We had first-hand experience with the power of eye tracking in our game Synapse, which released earlier this year. As you’d expect, we’ve implemented it here too as an option for menu navigation, as well as making it intuitive to grab objects from a distance. However, it’s been most transformative in our cooperative game when it comes to communication, like seeing where your teammates are looking – as well as sharing a wink or two! It’s uncanny how easy it is to recognize a friend from the real world by their avatar’s mannerisms. Immersive lighting that really darkens a room The PS VR2’s graphical capabilities help us deliver on emotional tone, such as feeling a sense of dread and unease going into a dimly lit dark basement that might be hiding all manner of nasties. That is, until you unleash your particle thrower and it suddenly fills the room with light. The PlayStation 5’s power also enabled a number of ethereal ghost effects that evoke the movies. It makes it especially rewarding when they are flying right at – and through – you. These ghosts get in your head with PS VR2 headset haptics Speaking of ghosts flying through you – as they’re known to do – you’ll feel it viscerally thanks to the PS VR2’s headset haptics. The degrees of haptics we can tap into allow us to use it in several ways, from subtly cuing players when there’s something afoot, to more shocking effects from our scariest ghost. Give Mini-Pufts a squeeze with adaptive triggers The PS VR2 Sense controllers’ adaptive triggers enhance the sense of presence and were particularly effective in bringing the authentic ghostbusting gear to life; from the PKE Meter and the Proton Wand to the brand-new Muon Trap “thrower.” I particularly love priming the Proton Wand with a partial press, before the satisfying click to unleash a blast of positively-charged subatomic particles. The adaptive triggers come to life when it comes to squishing Mini-Pufts. These little critters like to wreak havoc on you and your gear during the most inopportune times. Luckily, you can help your buddies out – picking them off them and giving them a satisfying squish in VR. I believe we’re the first VR game where you can squeeze a marshmallow! And for more, check out our roundtable One of the cool things about working on this game is collaborating with Ghost Corp itself, who are charged with stewarding the entire Ghostbusters universe. We had the honor of visiting the set for the upcoming Ghostbusters film to host a roundtable conversation about the game. You can watch it below – we cover a lot of topics from equipment upgrades and the types of missions you’ll encounter to maybe even dropping a few hints about upcoming DLC after the game launches. Enjoy… and I’ll see you in Ghostbusters HQ. Pre-order Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord now. The game will be available on PS VR2 October 26, 2023.For a limited time, you can preorder Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord – Full Containment Edition to get the game, upcoming DLC, and bonus content at a discounted price. 10. Hey everyone – I’m Aaron Espinoza, the Advanced Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games! Today, I’m delighted to drop new information about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including a look at our expanded Marvel’s New York, the ways Insomniac is evolving city exploration and details about the 10 suits exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition! Play Video In the video above, Creative Director Bryan Intihar provides a deep dive into our expanded Marvel’s New York, including the ways we’ve evolved the game since we last masked up and played as our Spider-Men. New locations, updated exploration, exhilarating traversal, near-instant switching between heroes, a rogue’s gallery of villains, new abilities and gadgets, and brand-new Suit Styles are just some of the ways we’re upping the game this time around. So, what’s new? In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re nearly doubling the size of Marvel’s New York. Expanding beyond the East River, you’ll swing and soar over iconic landmarks across Queens and Brooklyn – complete with story missions, side quests, and city activities! This expansion also means even faster traversal options such as the Web Wings, which can be combined with traditional web swinging to move at exhilarating speeds. Players will also be able to switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the open world, near-instantly thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5. Both Spider Heroes are important characters to the grand story we’re telling in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and each will have their own separate side stories to uncover throughout the city. Help students at Brooklyn Visions as Miles Morales or accept new requests for aid as Peter Parker via the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app – you can even choose to tackle certain activities as either Spider-Man! Kraven the Hunter and the monstrous Venom join our roster of villains and will strain our heroes, their relationships, and the place they call home. However, they’re not the only two villains causing trouble in the city. We won’t spoil it for you – but our Spideys will need to, ahem, #BeGreaterTogether, to stop them using many new skills, gadgets, and abilities! 13. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming to PlayStation 5 on December 7, offering fans the chance to play as a Na’vi and fight against the Resources Development Administration (RDA) to protect the beautiful moon of Pandora. PlayStation players will receive the Aranahe Warrior Pack for free, which grants them character and weapon cosmetic sets. In a new trailer focusing on the game’s story, you can learn more about the hero’s journey as a child of two worlds who seeks to reconnect with their lost heritage. Return of the Sarentu In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you play as a Na’vi, who as an infant was abducted by the RDA to be part of The Ambassador Program (TAP) and trained in human ways. You’ve been kept away from your home world of Pandora, and from your people. You are one of the remaining members of the respected Sarentu clan, thought to have disappeared years ago. During the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains featured in the first Avatar movie, you were put into emergency cryosleep as the RDA evacuated Pandora. 15 years later, you wake up and step onto Pandora, as a stranger in your birthplace. Clans and companions To help you reconnect with Pandora and learn the ways of the Na’vi, you will meet other Na’vi clans as you explore the Western Frontier. You’ll encounter the Aranahe, a clan of weavers who value tradition; the Zeswa, a clan of nomads who are ready for a fight with the RDA; and the Kame’tire, a clan of enigmatic and reclusive healers. These Na’vi will also teach you to make a bond with your own companion banshee, or ikran. And once you do, there are many ways you can explore and defend Pandora together; you can even leap off a cliff and call for your ikran and explore Pandora from the skies. You’ll also learn to ride like a Na’vi on a direhorse. Protecting Pandora The RDA has returned to Pandora, more dangerous than ever, and once again threatens the flourishing ecosystems and its clans. You are determined to stop the RDA from destroying your home world. Fight them with both Na’vi and RDA weapons. Use your incredible strength and agility, craft new gear, and upgrade your skills and weapons as you heal and protect Pandora. Prepare to become Na’vi and fight for Pandora in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, coming to PS5 on December 7. You can also pre-order the game at PlayStation Store, which has multiple editions: The Collector’s Edition includes the ultimate edition of the game and physical items including a statue (35cm), an artbook, a premium SteelBook, a field notebook, a set of three lithographs, and an AMP suit blueprint. If you haven’t played The Mercenaries yet, now’s a great time to try out this popular extra game mode where you can experience a different kind of fun. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to dive in, Resident Evil 4 is currently discounted on PlayStation Store until September 26. Now is a perfect opportunity to play through Leon’s story and explore The Mercenaries mode ahead of Separate Ways arriving on September 21. Now, I would like to take this opportunity to deep-dive into what was shown off in the latest trailer. Additional story DLC, Separate Ways, coming September 21! The mission requires secrecy. Failure is not an option. Separate Ways tells the story of Ada Wong and her parallel journey through the events of Resident Evil 4, filling in unanswered questions from the main story. The full story will be revealed as you view both sides of events from both Ada and Leon’s viewpoints. Ada’s story Before Leon S. Kennedy had even set foot in that cursed village, she was there. Her mission? The retrieval of the cult’s darkest secret—the Amber. Now Ada must deal with an unknown threat that is devouring her from within, an accomplice with a dark past and ulterior motives, and a chance reunion with the man she least expected—Leon S. Kennedy. Why did she accept this mission? And what path will she make for herself in the shadow of Leon’s investigation into the abduction of the president’s daughter? Separate Ways characters Ada Wong The protagonist of Separate Ways. She infiltrates a desolate European village on orders from her employer, Albert Wesker. Luis Serra Ada’s co-conspirator. He’s pledged to help her obtain the Amber. Albert Wesker The mysterious man behind Ada’s mission. It’s his dangerous obsession with the Amber that sends Ada on her most dangerous adventure yet. Ada’s grappling gun In addition to the variety of firearms from the original game and the knife parry that you’re familiar with from Leon’s campaign in RE4, Ada will also wield a grappling gun. This can be used to get to various locations, as well as take down enemies from a distance and launch a ranged melee attack. This makes for a more exciting and fast-paced gameplay experience. New characters arrive to The Mercenaries Coinciding with the release of Separate Ways, new playable characters Ada Wong and Albert Wesker join the free DLC, The Mercenaries! This update is available to anyone who owns Resident Evil 4, so make sure you also download the free DLC for The Mercenaries as well. Please look forward to this update. Resident Evil 4 VR Mode for PS VR2 is coming this winter as free DLC Resident Evil 4 VR Mode allows you to experience the entire story mode of the base game on PlayStation VR2. Watch the trailer for a glimpse of the gameplay and action that has evolved with the VR adaptation. Take on the role of Leon S. Kennedy in this terrifying and harrowing rescue mission in the ultimate immersive survival horror experience. Please note that Separate Ways and The Mercenaries are not compatible with the Resident Evil 4 VR Mode DLC. Enter the immersion of RE4 in VR Resident Evil 4 is a reimagined version of the original 2005 game, preserving the essence of the game while bringing it to life with state-of-the-art graphics. Now you can immerse yourself in the world of RE4 and enjoy it to the fullest with Resident Evil 4 VR Mode. Using the PlayStation VR2 headset, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the game’s elaborate stages. Discover details of the game that you may not have seen before in areas such as the dark forests, villages filled with the Ganado, and an ancient castle of awe-inspiring beauty. The 3D audio will further enhance your immersion in every area you visit in the game. How PS VR2 enhances RE4 The development team previously worked on PSVR titles like Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Resident Evil Village VR Mode. With the knowledge gained from these titles, we are now able to create an even more enhanced VR experience when playing as Leon S. Kennedy. The game features a wide variety of weapons, and the team focused on adapting them all to VR for an intuitive VR experience. From the way the weapons are held and reloaded, to the easy-to-understand input and haptic feedback of the Sense controllers, players will be able to feel each unique characteristic of the handguns, submachine guns, rifles, knives, and more. Experience immersion and the weapons in the game as if you were actually Leon on his mission of rescue and survival. RE4 introduced you to the game’s enhanced knife action. Naturally, we took that experience and enhanced it for VR in Resident Evil 4 VR Mode. Swing your knife down at the right time to parry, sneak up on unseen enemies and strike for a sneak takedown, and more. You can also now fight with a knife in both hands. Boxes and crates containing items can be destroyed in VR using your knife or other weapons, or with a simple one-button command. To recap, the additional story DLC, Separate Ways, as well as the free update for The Mercenaries, will be available on September 21, 2023, and the free DLC for PlayStation VR2, Resident Evil 4 VR Mode, is coming this winter. Stay tuned for more action-packed RE4 news! View the full article
