2. Puppeteer’s Gamescom reveal last month was a real joy to behold – a bright, bold new PlayStation IP promising primary-colored platforming fun with some deliciously dark trimmings. A month or two on, last week PlayStation.Blog had the opportunity to actually sit down with a controller and see if it delivers on that pledge. High up in Sony Japan Studio’s towering Tokyo HQ, creator Gavin Moore walked us through the game’s opening chapter, which sees a hapless young lad called Kutaro enslaved by the impossibly evil Moon Bear King and transformed into a puppet. But steel yourselves – this isn’t a cozy Pinocchio-esque tale of a plucky hero embarking on a cheerful quest to (re)gain human form. Far from it - Puppeteer’s opening minutes sees poor Kutaro’s head brutally torn off by our antagonist and his body nonchalantly tossed into a dank, gloomy cellar. More...
 3. When Killzone HD drops on October 24th, the original Killzone will be one week short of eight years old. In this (re-)developer interview we talk with Guerrilla Technical Director Michiel van der Leeuw and Senior Programmer Frank Compagner, who were there when Killzone was first released. In part 1, Michiel and Frank talk about the challenges they faced and the discoveries they made during the conversion process. Victor Zuylen: What prompted the HD remaster of Killzone? Michiel van der Leeuw, Technical Director, Guerrilla: It was an idea whose time had come. Internally we had talked about bringing Killzone to PlayStation 3 before - Killzone fans frequently asked us about it, and we knew from other developers that such projects could be a lot of fun. 4. At Different Tuna, we've been working astonishingly hard to bring you PSN's premier underwater papercraft action game -- Derrick the Deathfin. We have 32 handcrafted levels and three level types, set across four challenging continents, with each level being increasingly fiendish and colourful in its design. On October 9th this world can be yours to explore, for $7.99. You know that feeling when you're sitting on a roller coaster, slowly ascending, just in sight of the summit? That's what you're feeling right now. This time though, the ride is going to be much wilder than anything you've experienced before, and everything on the way down is going to be made out of paper. To succeed you must fight, jump, race and eat your way through a myriad of confusingly textured circumstances. Good luck! More...

 6. Hello PlayStation Nation! I hope you’re a fan of PlayStation Plus and free video games, because you may have just hit the mother lode. We’ve been working tirelessly with our friends at Capital One to put together a special PlayStation Card offer for our community, and I’m excited to finally share the details. For a limited time, new cardholders will get a 12 month subscription to PlayStation Plus AND a $50 PlayStation Network code after first purchase (and yes, before you ask, the 12 month PlayStation Plus subscription stacks if you are already a Plus member). As you might recall, last year we launched the PlayStation Card – a credit card designed specifically for our PlayStation community. With it cardholders get:

10x points on ALL PlayStation Network purchases

3x points on ALL PlayStation and Sony purchases at Sony stores and Sony.com

3x points at quick service restaurants, movie theaters and on your mobile phone bill

1x points on all other purchases

 7. Just before E3, we announced the all-new Pulse wireless stereo headset – Elite Edition, one of the latest PlayStation 3 (PS3) accessories to join the PlayStation family. The only headset to feature BassImpact technology, Pulse – Elite Edition offers gamers the ultimate audio advantage. Its sleek industrial design makes it a perfect fit for gaming while at home or on the road. Last week we sat down with Glenn Black, an engineer on the Research & Development team. We wanted to give you an in-depth walkthrough of Pulse – Elite Edition so you can see what makes this headset reign over the competition. We hope you enjoyed the video; look out for Pulse – Elite Edition in retail stores nationwide this week for $149.99 (MSRP)! More...

 9. Hello world! It’s incredibly exciting to finally be back on the Playstation Blog. It’s even more exciting to be able to announce that Joe Danger: The Movie, is coming to PS3 in the very near future with exclusive new content! Two years ago, three friends and I made the original Joe Danger. The PlayStation community then took us under their wing and helped make it the huge success it became. Since then we've been working incredibly hard to create the follow-up, Joe Danger: The Movie. Finally, today we can announce that Joe is coming home to the PlayStation Store very, very soon. What I really can’t wait for is the surprises we have in store for PlayStation gamers. This has been a total labour of love for us, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what people think of the game. More...
 10. This week saw the keenly anticipated digital release of one of the most off-the-wall games you’ll play this year – Sony Japan Studio’s lunatic action title TOKYO JUNGLE. For the uninitiated, it plays out in a post-apocalyptic vision of Japan’s sprawling metropolis where humans are extinct and the streets are fought over by gangs of animals. At its core, it’s a survival game that lets you answer that rarely posed question: what would happen if a gang of Pomeranians went toe-to-toe with a velociraptor, while a posse of baby chickens waited in the wings ready peck the victor to death? It’s mad as a proverbial badger, but it’s immensely enjoyable to play. More...

 16. Have you heard about Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit? If not, you are truly missing out on a totally amazing, incredibly ridiculous, and completely hilarious adventure. I am not making that up. You legit need this game in your life. Hell Yeah! puts you in control of Ash, a devil rabbit and the prince of Hell. As so many celebrities are these days, Ash is the victim of a vicious smear campaign as somebody posts scandalous bath-time images of him up on the ‘Hell-ternet’. This is a really good way to piss off the prince of Hell. Ash gets so pissed off, in fact, that he wants to make sure that everyone who saw the photos dies. It’s a totally reasonable, logical response, right? This is where you help Ash achieve his goal to destroy all of the monsters of Hell who have seen him in all his naked and embarrassing glory. And that turns out to be a whole lot of fun. More...

It includes the new 250GB PS3, so you'll have plenty of storage space to house all of your favorite games, videos, photos, and music. 18. It's been a while since we launched Datura exclusively on PSN, and lately I’ve been wondering if anyone had deciphered the true meaning of the game. In many interviews with the press, I’ve said that Datura is open for interpretation and that it depicts visions of what happens after you die. This was true, but I never spoke about the deeper layer of interpretation that connects the scenes. Every madness has its explanation, and Datura is no exception. Reading through the reviews I found that many people got lost in the forest and the fog that surrounds it. Overwhelmed by the decisions and their consequences, it became difficult to recognize the small details that we scattered throughout the storyline. On the surface, Datura can seem random but there is a connection that ties it all together. More...
 19. Blockbuster reviews highlight PTOM’s November issue as we get the world-exclusive first crack at Resident Evil 6 for our cover feature. Executive editor Mikel Reparaz dives in deep to determine whether the newest installment in the survival horror series still delivers the scares with its move towards more action. One thing is for sure -- RE6 and its multiple storyline format doesn’t skimp on play value with more than 30 hours of zombie-battling goodness. We’ve also got the PS3-exclusive review of Borderlands 2. The first Borderlands game was pleasant surprise when it hit in 2010, but it fell a bit short when it came to gameplay polish and presentation. 2K Games and developer Gearbox Software pulled out all the stops for the sequel and review editor Scott Butterworth’s reaction can be summed up in one word: wow. Clear your schedules as this legitimate Game of the Year contender looks to consume an obscene amount of your gaming time. More...

 21. Hey, PS.Blog! This is Wael from Frogwares, and I get to tell you about our latest game, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. We’ve been developing Sherlock Holmes games for over a decade, and the recent reinventions of Sherlock Holmes in the new movies and BBC series have put a new spin on the character and the world he lives in. With The Testament of Sherlock Holmes we wanted to take it even further and present a dark side of the character that people haven’t seen before. We wanted to do something new, exploring the consequences of being the kind of person Holmes is, and take the player along for the twisted ride. Solving mysteries is what the game is all about. As the player gathers clues and information, they unlock new avenues to explore in the game. More...

 23. After a grueling 12 weeks, we had 6 teams that entered into the Dust Championship. Normally we expect a smooth playoff but not so much this time. Teams were faced with the dreaded XMB Kick randomly, teams cheating and for one team an endless battle of fatigue. But in the end a champion rose from among the ashes to be crowned the UF: Dust Champion for Starhawk on PlayStation 3. United Mercs gained entry into the Dust Championship by winning the second of six deployments serving as the preliminary events leading up to the championship followed by a long battle in the championship ending with a final record of 4 wins and 1 loss. Their only loss came from Mech Warhawk Society which by far was the most handicapped team with the majority of their members are in the UK making the match time in most cases 3am BST. After facing and eliminating Killer Instinct, UNIT returned to meet MWHS in the Semi Finals is a win or go home situation. UNIT held strong winning the Semi Finals only to have to return Friday night to face MWHS again, now a third time. At this point both teams had a 1 – 1 record against each other and whoever won would be crowned a Champion and the team that loss would have to settle for second place. Watch live video from Urgent Fury Gaming Live on TwitchTV Each team set their fate by choosing their maps, modes and loadouts for the finals, here is how it was laid out: Map 1: Scourge- Conduit – CTF – Air Superiority – Chosen by UNIT Map 2: Dust – Outlands – Team Death Match – Lone Wolf – Chosen by MWHS Map 3: Space – Orbital – Zones – Lone Wolf – Chosen by UNIT Map 4: Dust – Outlands – Zones – Ground Pounder Blitz – Chosen by MWHS Map 5: Cypress – Orgin – CTF – Classic Beta Blitz – Chosen by UF In the final match Unit was given home field advantage so their two maps came in the first three rounds, which being the best of 5, that played in their favor. Round one: Unit took the map 2 – 0 Round two: MWHS took the map 65 – 57 Round three: Unit took the map 2935 – 917 Time Expired Round four: Unit took the map 1401 – 1146 Time Expired Both teams fought hard to reach this point and we commend them as well as Killer Instinct which received the MVC (Most Valuable Clan) award. Over the next week we will be announcing the next line up of tournaments for Starhawk including the Starhawk King of the Hill Series. The series will include a King of the Hill set up for each of the team based modes where teams can challenge the King and attempt to take his crown. We will also detail the next league which will run on Tuesday and Thursday Nights every month. So get over to www.urgentfury.com and get your teams set up. View the full article

Last week, Ubisoft graciously offered members of the gaming media the first opportunity to go hands-on with Assassin’s Creed III for PS3 and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, the upcoming PS Vita-bound chapter set against the backdrop of Spanish occupation in 18th century Louisiana. Both games, of course, demonstrated plenty of promise: ACIII for its Revolutionary War-era pomp and Skyrim-rivalling scale, ACIII: Liberation for its sultry new setting and uncanny attention to detail. But in the five days since the hands-on session, I’ve unexpectedly found myself reflecting more on my experiences with Liberation. More...
