So the big news is that we finally have a release date! OKABU will be hitting PSN on October 18th, and there’ll be a demo available on launch day that’ll let you take our cloud-flying heroes for a test flight. With launch only a couple of weeks away, we wanted to share a few more details about the game, and what you’ll be doing as you guide Kumulo and Nimbe through the four worlds that make up the story campaign. 3. With our first post in July, we introduced you to our upcoming title Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, and for our second post in September, we touched a bit on the genesis and character design of the Rocketbirds. In this third post, we wanted to talk a bit about the cutscenes and music videos we created for the game. Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken takes you on a cinematic platform adventure through Albatropolis, as you hunt down the Penguin's corrupt leader, Putzki. Along the way you'll have to kill many penguins, solve puzzles, incite revolution, and maybe pilot a few jetpacks. Originally, for Rocketbirds: Revolution! (the Independent Games Festival 2010 triple finalist browser game) we created the first opening sequence (‘Robot’ music video) as a way to keep people interested while the first game assets were being streamed to people’s computers. 4. Greetings Sony fans and Yakuza enthusiasts! Today is an exciting day, both for PS3 gamers and for us here at SEGA – the PS3 exclusive, Yakuza: Dead Souls is coming to the west! It seems like only yesterday we were all sitting on the edge of our Sony-branded seats, hoping desperately that Yakuza 3 would see the light of day overseas. In the years since, we’ve seen not only the US release of Yakuza 3, but Yakuza 4, too – and, thanks to the fantastic support of fans and PS3 gamers like you, we’re proud to now announce the latest chapter in the Yakuza franchise. What was once Of The End is now Dead Souls! So, what is Yakuza: Dead Souls all about? I traveled to the top of the mountains and spent two weeks meditating to bring you the answers. In the end, that failed, so I just played the entire game instead. It was awesome, and in doing so, I found that this game is a mix of:

Zombies in Tokyo

Yakuza with guns

Beautiful Hostesses

If you have been keeping up with GT5, you know Polyphony Digital has been very diligent about releasing free updates to improve the game, especially the online racing mode. Ever since the launch, Kazunori Yamauchi and his team have been carefully studying posts on forums, reading comments on PlayStation.Blog posts and across Twitter, talking to fans at events, and more. The game has evolved a lot since last November, thanks in part to the dedicated GT fans voicing their opinions. Now I’m here to share with you some very exciting news about the biggest FREE update yet, releasing in the next few weeks. It will add new features and even more functionality to your GT5 experience. 6. Hello PlayStation Nation, Early last month, with some ambiguity, we announced that we were looking for a few good gamers to assist us with a special assignment related to our freshly launched Long Live Play campaign. Long Live Play honors gamers from all walks of life and recognizes you for making PlayStation who we are today. We asked members of the PlayStation Nation to email us with pictures of themselves holding their PS3 controller and in 30 words-or-less, describe how they epitomize the ultimate PlayStation gamer. I know that PlayStation gamers are some of the most impassioned fans in the world, but I was blown away by the thousands of responses that flooded my email. More...

 8. What is Space Channel 5 exactly? Excellent question. It’s a rhythm action dancing game. Throughout the game you encounter “Dance Offsâ€, where your challenger will spit a bunch of moves at you, and it’s up to you to show that you’re not going to be one-upped, out-fancied and out-swaggered. Get your timing right to free the hostages, shoot robots, and generally show off your killer dance moves. SEGA Bass Fishing has been an arcade favorite for years, gobbling up quarters since 1998 here in the US. Bass Fishing then caused quite a splash when it launched with the Dreamcast on 9/9/99 – a day very dear to all of us Dreamcast fans. More...

 11. It is very exciting for me to be able to say that the original Crysis is coming to the PS3! Some of you may be wondering how we are going to bring the large open environments that Crysis is known for to console. The expansive jungle sections, the pure white sand beaches, the open vehicle levels… maybe you’re shaking your head that it cannot be done. I’m here to tell you that we’ve accomplished this and you will be able to experience the remastered, single-player campaign for Crysis on October 4th in North America and October 5th in Europe. So how did we do it? As Egg Shen said, it wasn’t easy! Without the power of the CryENGINE 3, we would never have attempted it, but with fully deferred lighting, a PS3-specific rendering pipeline and SPU-enhanced physics code, together with more efficient memory layouts and more intelligent algorithms, we brought the experience of Crysis to consoles without compromise. 13. NBA 2K12 also has a brand new feature on PlayStation 3 called “On The Move,†obviously using the PlayStation Move. Recently, I got the chance to interview one of our Producers, Ben Bishop, to provide some exclusive info to those that follow the PlayStation Blog. Ben was influential in making this feature a lot of fun and a cool experience for 2K veterans and newbies alike. After Ben gives you some background on the use of Move, I will share some other features to be unveiled in NBA 2K12. So without further adieu, here are highlights from our conversation:
Hey Everyone, Ben Bishop here. I’m one of the Producers who worked on NBA 2K12. I was fortunate enough to be involved with many different facets of the game this year. Probably one of the most unique and exciting though, and the thing that I’m here to give some details on today, is our NBA On the Move feature, exclusively available for you fine readers of the PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation 3 gamers everywhere. Since then, I’ve been wanting to get a closer look at the game’s stunning creature designs, all of which are plucked from the further reaches of Miyazaki’s fevered imagination. Luckily, today’s the day. For the viewing pleasure of PlayStation.Blog readers, From Software and Namco Bandai have collected a host of rare concept artwork accompanied by design notes from Miyazaki himself. Miyazaki also wanted to pass along a greeting just for PlayStation.Blog readers: “I am hoping all of you experience meaningful deaths many times in the game. I know that the game is challenging, but I want you to keep trying to overcome any difficulty you face in the game. And please feel a great sense of achievement when overcoming a difficulty!†Read on for the full gallery. 16. Word on the street is that to pull off the biggest score, a heist must be planned and outlined to the very last detail with perfect team members, unbeatable weapons and unrecognizable disguises. That being said, SOE & OVERKILL Software need a little more time to assemble the ideal squad and attack strategy for our highly anticipated adrenaline-pumping first person shooter, PAYDAY: The Heist. With this in mind, SOE and the talented OVERKILL team have decided to push PAYDAY’s official launch day to later in October, ensuring the overall game quality and potential score for all heist team members. 17. Story by Call of Duty Community.com. Anyone who plays Call of Duty, knows that Custom Matches are a big part of why we play, from proving your point in a 1 on 1 quick-scope battle, to laughing at your friends in Mike Myers. This year, Modern Warfare 3 will take the Custom Match experience to a new level, allowing some new and some fan*favorite*game types to come to the field. They are: One in the Chamber Infinity Ward is bringing back this fan*favorite*to satisfy the needs of those craving the wager match, although it is worth mentioning, that this time there is no prize. Just the knowledge that you are better than your comrades. Gun Game Again, another fan*favorite*and something I’ll be falling over myself to play when the game is released to see which guns I like to play with. Definitely something to look forward to. Infected An age old game mode that never ceases to amaze, this is by far the best way to find out the best hiding spots in the game and how to get there. An aside to this, is that this has been called several names over the years. Mike Myers is one of the names, and also Zombies was a name given to it. Drop Zone Almost like Headquarters, except that it’s call Drop Zone. Oh, and given that it is called that, Care Packages drop to the glee of the team in command of the zone. I have visions of horrific “death by box†kills in killcams on this one. Team*Juggernaut Didn’t get a lot of information on this one, but as far as we can tell, it’s Team Death Match with a*Juggernaut*on your team. Pretty straight forward huh? Juggernaut Now, this also sounds like a “Pro†version of Mike Myers. 1 person is a*Juggernaut, your job is to kill him, then you become the*Juggernaut. Easy right? If you rather watch someone explain these game modes to you, have a look and see what WoodysGamertag has to say about the game modes. I can definitely see some awesome lads (or ladies) nights in where these game types are put the test. Personally, I think this will really make for a better game as far as Modern Warfare 3 is concerned as it will mean a longer shelf-life! As you can see, Infinity Ward have taken on some fan*favorites, and produced some fine sounding other game modes. It really shows that they have taken some time to make sure that the Custom Matches are as good as the online ones. 19. Story by Seeson @ blogs.battlefield.ea.com. Thank you for playing the Open Beta and making the final game better! We are very excited to see so many gamers join our Battlefield 3 Open Beta. Here’s an update on the Open Beta from DICE General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson. I want to give you an overview of how the Open Beta is helping us shape a fantastic final game, what we are implementing based on your feedback, and how the Open Beta will help us deliver a robust gaming environment from day one. The Open Beta is a true Beta The Battlefield 3 Open Beta is based on software that is more than one month old. We need to test the new back end dedicated server structure we’ve built. Not only have we built a new game engine, but an entirely new back end system so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of dedicated servers on all platforms. Just like normal procedure when releasing a game, the Open Beta has had long lead times due to testing, certification, and setting up. This means that the code you are now playing is actually quite early and not representative of the final game. We had to do this in order to have as many people testing as possible, in order to ensure a top quality experience when the game is released. However, we’re confident in the Battlefield formula and confident that our fans will support us in order to make Battlefield 3 better. * Dedicated servers require dedicated testing The biggest reason for running the Open Beta is to stress test our servers and back end. Already, we are seeing 6 times the number of simultaneous players in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta compared to the Beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! The fact that Battlefield 3 is clearly our biggest game launch ever by a magnitude of 6 makes it doubly important to test everything. We are constantly updating the News section on Battlelog with information on what we are fixing from Open Beta to final. We appreciate your time and your feedback. The data and feedback from the Open Beta will not only directly affect the final game of Battlefield 3, but its future development and support. We’re heading out on the road this week to let journalists experience all aspects of Battlefield 3. Stay tuned for their previews, and stay tuned for the final game on October 25th. The final game will look, play and sound better than the Open Beta. You have helped making sure of that. Karl Magnus Troedsson General Manager, DICE Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...

 21. Over the last six months, the Directors have allowed Staff to take over the day to day management of the site, tournaments, etc. We had hoped this would give the site a more community driven feel as well as keep Urgent Fury on the right path for tournament development and community involvement. Though this plan has great merit, the execution did not accomplish the goal. We have had several tournaments that were miss managed, and even more tournaments that did not even launch due to Staff and Team members not completing their tasks. The Resistance Tournament for example suffered immensely because of this and we are currently reorganizing the schedule to adjust for this failure to launch. As a result of this we are restructuring the staff and how we do things. You have already seen our newest Staff Member SniperCity who will be coordinating the tournament team. This team is made of members of the community that have knowledge and experience with the various games that we will launch tournaments on. We have also had a couple of staff members move on from staff. Johnson realized that he did not have the time to put into being staff here at Urgent Fury and has retired, he will be missed and we appreciate the time and effort that he has dedicated to Urgent Fury over the last several years. WolfDog chose to quit when we demoted him to a tournament team member for not completing his tasks as a staff member in the tournament team. So how can you help? Well we have a few things the community can do for us... First we will be launching a Community Survey this week, we need every member of the community to give us feedback and be as honest as possible. Community Feedback Survey can be found here... The Survey includes questions in the following areas: About how you came to Urgent Fury, what types of games you play etc 6 Questions - All required [*]Feedback about the website 6 Questions - All required [*]Feedback about the tournaments we offer and what you would like to see in the future Up to 9 Questions - 8 required and 1 optional [*]Feedback about Urgent Frequency both the podcast and UFreqTV 7 Questions - 5 required and 2 optional [*]A narrative section where you can provide open feedback about various sections Up to 6 Questions - 1 required if condition is met and 5 optional [*]Optional User Info section where you can provide your username, email, name, etc. We will place all users that fill out this section in full into a drawing for a MW3 Strategy Guide from BradyGames. 7 Questions - All optional Next we want to know if you are interested in helping. We have never had an open application for Urgent Fury but now we would like to know who wants to step up and help Urgent Fury get back on track. Just fill out the application here. We look forward to hearing from the community via the survey as well as talking with the members of the community that are looking to be more than just a member. Urgent Fury Command
