<a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/pixeljunk-sidescroller/">PixelJunk SideScroller</a> is not far from your hands! Yes, it has kind of crept up upon us, but the release date is 1st of November in North America. I really can't emphasize enough how really, really good, old-school fun SideScroller has turned out to be. I'm sure some of you have played the "bonus" stage in <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/pixeljunk-shooter-2/">PixelJunk Shooter 2</a> called "The Road to Dawn", well that is what gave us the urge to make an entire side scrolling shoot-em-up game! Back in the day I used to love games such as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R-Type">R-Type</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darius_%28series%29">Darius</a>, and going even further back there were games such as Scramble and Defender that inspired me as a child. So...we decided to dip our toes in and see what PixelJunk could bring to the side-scroller world. We used the same engine as for the two Shooter titles, but the game itself is entirely different. To begin with this is a single-stick controlled game rather than the dual-stick control we had in Shooter, which makes it even more addictive and easy to control. And of course, you can only face to the right as you fly your craft! The only similarity really is that a handful of enemies from Shooter have been "re-imagined" for SideScroller, but to add to them we created a whole slew of new enemies and bosses for you to try to destroy also. Hey baseball fans! The 2011 <a href="http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/ps/y2011/index.jsp?sv=1">World Series</a> is about to get underway so we're here to predict the winner of this year's Fall Classic using the most realistic sports game around, <a href="http://www.theshownation.com/">MLB 11 The Show</a>. We recently simulated the matchup between the <a href="http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/index.jsp?sv=1&c_id=tex">Texas Rangers</a> and the <a href="http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/index.jsp?sv=1&c_id=stl">St. Louis Cardinals</a> and judging by the results, you may want to fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. Here's a quick video rundown of the series (see above). As you can see, the Cards took the early series advantage, winning Game 1 behind the arm of their ace, Chris Carpenter, but the Rangers took back the momentum, and home field advantage, with an important win in Game 2. With the series back in Texas, the Cardinals fought hard behind their big bats, Matt Holiday and Lance Berkman, and retook the lead in the series with a surprising Game 3 victory. There was no panic in Texas, however, as Nelson Cruz continued his red hot postseason with home runs in Games 4 and 5 that propelled the Rangers to back-to-back victories and a 3-2 series lead as both teams returned to St. Louis. With their backs to the wall, the redbirds gave it there all in Game 6, but pitching and defense turned out to play the biggest part as neither team could break through offensively keeping the game scoreless into the late innings. Finally, a clutch, two-out hit by Josh Hamilton gave Texas the lead late in the game, and that was all the Rangers' stellar bullpen would need, as they nailed down the victory and a World Series title. The player stands in a room with a dome wrap around screen surrounding them. The system has five HD resolution projectors, surround sound, and a freaking paintball gun inside.The lucky geeks at The Gadget Show in Britain got a chance to play a game on the damn thing (USA needs to step our ‘game up ~ lol!). The player stands in the center of that room and walks around on an omni-directional treadmill so they stay in the center of the room. Whatever direction the player walks, that is where the character moves on screen. The gun the player holds fires the on screen bullets.*The enemies on screen can also fight back and when you get shot, you actually get shot with a paintball gun. That way you can feel the pain when you get hit. Talk about cool. I want to play, but I prefer to skip the being shot with a paintball gun part.
