The player is tasked with guiding Ernest Hamilton and his bird companion Sasha through their tantalizing travels across the world. Nearly a year ago, I interviewed Capcom and Ninja Theory after they revealed their re-imagination of Devil May Cry (aka DmC) at Tokyo Game Show 2010. The response to Dante’s makeover and new look to the universe was overwhelming, leaving fans to question what was next? I received word that Creative Director Tameem Antoniades would be at gamescom and wanted catch me up on DmC’s progress and indulge me in Dante’s new found love for aerial-combat. After being reunited with Tameem and DmC, it’s only left me crying for more. More...

Story by Call of Duty Community. Yesterday we wrote about the new Express Playlist. The Express Playlist is a big part of title update #12 for Black Ops on the Xbox and that’s why it’s getting extra attention. We know David Vonderhaar likes to keep in touch with the community and actually listens to the community and the feedback he receives from it. After receiving feedback about the Express Playlist, Vonderhaar & team have decided to make some adjustments to the Express Playlist. Vonderhaar writes on Twitter: Express with moar Demo and less CTF? Sounds reasonable and totally doable. I was a bit iffy on CTF because of the respawn timer.*Will adjust for next scheduled playlist update. Sometime between now and 2 weeks from now. Best I can offer. Keep that feedback rolling in. The details for patch 1.12have finally been posted on the Black Ops forum and this is what the patch notes look like: Addressed an issue with attack dogs causing them to “warp†under rare circumstances. Fixed an exploit allowing players to purchased locked classified weapons Fixed an exploit that allowed players to get above 15th Prestige using Combat Training/Player Match menus. Improvements to spawn system. Addressed some bugs with Custom Game Settings for CTF related to Touch Return Disabled Added Rezurrection DLC support (Launching August 23 first on Xbox 360!) Check for the Moon theme and Zombies soundtrack in the in-game store once you’ve downloaded the new DLC! Once again, great job with the updates Treyarch and David Vonderhaar, thank you for listening to the community. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...

Story by Call of Duty Community. Don’t panic when you boot your Xbox 360 and find that there is a new update Black Ops. Treyarch quietly released an update for the Xbox 360 version of Black Ops. Usually we can find the “patch notes†on the official Black Ops forum but so far, the dedicated update thread on the forum remains un-updated. The biggest difference people will notice is a new playlist. The Express Playlist. In case you’re wondering what the Express Playlist is, the description says “30 second lobby timers. Fast paced game modes. No Second Chance or Ghostâ€. A playlist with 2 of the most annoying perks disabled and a lobby timer of 30 seconds instead of 60 seconds? Sounds too good to be true. So far the feedback I’ve read is mixed. Since I’m a PS3 owner I hadn’t had a chance to play it yet, but if what ThunderS7ruck says is true, I’m really looking forward to it. @ davidvonderhaar Vahn i hope this playlist is here to stay, loving it! Feels just like cod4 again! August 21, 2011 17:50 via web Reply Retweet Favorite @ThunderS7ruck Thunder Obviously, this update also includes support for the upcoming map pack, Rezurrection. If the patch notes were placed on the official Black Ops forum, it would look something like this: Support for Rezurrection map pack, available August 23rd on Xbox LIVE! New Playlist – Express Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...

LittleBigPlanet and LBP2 enabled PS3 players to play, create and share custom-made levels and game modes online for all to enjoy. Now, with the upcoming PS Vita game harnessing the handheld’s plethora of inputs and sensors for playing and creating, Sackboy’s new adventure will be the most accessible - and empowering - LittleBigPlanet yet. We’ve seen glimpses of what PS Vita adds to Play starting at E3, when SCEE’s Pete Smith demonstrated how the touch screen, gyroscopes, and rear touch panel helped Sackboy navigate levels in all-new ways. At gamescom, Smith was joined by Tarsier Studios designer Richard Meredith to show us some more Play possibilities and tools you’ll use to Create new types of games. I've only been home from Germany's gamescom for a few hours, spending that time catching up on sleep, baseball highlights, and gaming news. Story by: CritiKiL Coming in 2012,*Gamestop*may be offering a service similar to OnLive. Recently, the company announced that it will begin beta testing streaming capabilities with plans to offer streaming games to its existing markets on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Back in 2009,*GameStop*aquired one US based company that specializes in streaming technology, called Spawn labs out of Austin, Texas. The company has been at the forefront of streaming technology and it appears that GameStop is not about to let the opportunity to get into the streaming market pass it by. GameStop won’t be the only game in town when it finally gets around to offering the streaming service. OnLive has been alive and kicking since 2010 and is readily available as we speak. Streaming games may be the wave of the future, but have yet to see an industry wide embrace. The key for GameStop is streaming these games to your existing console, which allows you to stay connected with your already cultivated set of friends and acquaintances on your network or console of preference. Why Sony, Microsoft, or any gaming console for that matter would allow GameStop to step in to become a middle man on a closed platform, is beyond me… Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...

Story by Stace Harmon @ VG247.com. Additional details reveal that the PC version’s main game menu will be the Battlelog home page. I feel like I’m kicking a hornet’s nest. In a move that’s bound to cause some consternation amongst PC gamers, it’s been confirmed via the Battlefield blog and in a Twitter response that an in-game browser for finding game servers – a long-term staple of online PC gaming – has been included in the console versions of Battlefield 3, but not the PC version. Further digging of senior gameplay designer Alan Kertz’s Twitter feed suggests that the PC version of EA’s upcoming shooter won’t have an in-game main menu at all. Instead, the homepage of the game’s online stat-tracking and social tools service, Battlelog, will serve as Battlefield 3 More...

Earlier today, I had the pleasure of a walkthrough of PAYDAY: The Heist with developer Overkill Software. Here, creative director Simon Viklund explains PAYDAY’s level-up system and customization, and the importance of co-operation in a heist. More...

Bwing. Has there ever been a more beautiful sound than “bwing Until I release my rap album – I think not. There you are, furiously letting your fingers dance over the controller. Your health is low, but your hope is high. One last shot in the monsters eye and – BWING – you just earned a new Trophy. I don’t know about you, but I’m not used to hearing praise so I get as giddy as Gordon Freeman in a specialty crowbar store when I hear that glorious sound. It’s then I know that another Trophy has joined my wall of virtual pride. Good news! On September 6th when Resistance 3 launches, my fellow Trophy hoarders and I will have the opportunity to hear the majestic “Bwing†59 times! That means we’re guaranteed at least 59 more moments of pure joy. You can even get a Platinum Trophy. That’s a moment of super joy – I’m talking “Firefly gets a new season†joy. But getting there isn’t going to be a cake walk (which I don’t even know what that it is, but it sounds awesome). You’ve got 58 other “Bwings†to acquire before you can join the R3 Platinum Posse. Let’s see what some of my personal favorites are, shall we? More...

Virtua Tennis 4 for PlayStation Vita first stepped onto the court at E3. Even at that early stage in its development, the game showed signs of ambition. It seems that Sega is taking great care to adapt the tried-and-true gameplay for PS Vita by extensively leveraging the handheld’s hardware strengths, all without dumbing down the series’s winning formula. Now, at gamescom, I finally got to see some of these game modes in action. Virtua Tennis 4’s core experience is nearly identical to its recently-released PS3 counterpart; you can create a character, start a career, and participate in tournaments while enhancing your skills through all kinds of bizarre tennis-related skill tests. Likewise, you can jump into the shoes of Andy Roddick, Roger Federer, or other real-world tennis stars. More...

I remember the day my copy of Arkham Asylum arrived at the office because I hadn’t followed the game’s development too closely and, when I took it home just to check out what my colleagues had been raving about, I finished it that same weekend. As a result, I’ve had a keen eye on Arkham City, so yesterday I swooped over to the Warner Brothers gamescom area and watched a demo of the new challenge maps, which offer a high-score chasing, combo-stringing alternative to the meat and drink of the story campaign. Compeered by Dax Ginn, marketing game manager at Rocksteady Studios, two members of the dev team played through identical challenge maps on different TVs – one as Batman and one as Catwoman – in a face-off as a small group of journalists watched the stereoscopic 3D beatdown. Story by Nathan Grayson @ VG247.com. Silicon Knights has put out a new trailer of its upcoming mutant-flavored hack ‘n’ slash ‘n’ bash ‘n’ mash ‘n’ eye laser, and it’s shaping up to be quite a departure. New characters (who really like to stare at their hands), powers that may be the result of a bite from a radioactive rainbow, and lots of punching are the stars here – although a cameo from a few old favorites lurks toward the end. If that’s not enough, Joystiq also has some new screens. Check out the full trailer below. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...

Story by Brian Crecente @ Kotaku.com. “You’ve got a whole group coming down the street at you,” my co-op buddy calls out to me. But I’m not looking at the street. Instead, I’m staring straight down at the ground. At my feet there is a cloth sack, an improvised explosive device. A circle fills as I defuse the bomb. Crouching on the second-floor balcony of a nearby collapsing Berlin building, Sledgehammer community manager Guy Behm pulls off a couple of shots with his sniper rifle, knocking down two of the approaching armed men. Bomb defused, I swivel and open fire on the remaining group, clearing the street of enemies, but only temporarily. We’re playing Invisible Threat, a cooperative Spec Ops level in November’s Modern Warfare 3. Behm explains that the goal of the match is for me to defuse eight bombs hidden throughout the map without getting killed. I’m down on the street, swathed in a bombsuit that includes a helmet that slightly limits my view. Behm is in his overwatch position armed with a sniper rifle and predator missiles which can be used to scout and pinpoint hidden IEDs. During the first play-through I work my way carefully down the street, defusing the first three bombs fairly easily. Behm sends off a second missile, locating three more of the bombs as I scramble into a nearby store, taking fire from a wall of enemies. The bad guys come at me in waves. After clearing them out there’s usually enough time to make it to a bomb, but not completely diffuse it before a new wave comes in. I’m down to the last bomb, waiting for Behm to find it when things go sideways. Scouting the area for the hidden IED, Behm accidentally slams the missile nearby, killing me. In a second attempt, we only make it four bombs in before dying. While both of my attempts at clearing the Special Ops missions were with Behm’s help, Activision told me that the mission can also be played solo, but then you have no overwatch, not even a computer-controlled one. Of course the game has other Special Ops missions, the developers just weren’t talking about them at Gamescom this week. Many are cooperative, but not all, I was told. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...
