STREETSWEEPR1 Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUCdZex5Qb8 I don't like this kind of stuff. The restaurant owner was wrong to do it in the first place- it seems very rude to insult a country that adopted you and where you have an opportunity to run a business. I'm sure he wasn't aware that it was illegal (I wasn't). But, Mr. Brossard is wrong too. Did he talk to the owners first? Did he explain his point of view or the legality of the situation? Maybe the owner or his son is a veteran. Why film it? Shouldn't we respect private property? This could have been handled by a police visit. I understand that people are frustrated, but let's not resort to confrontation unless it's necessary. We can express our opinion in more peaceful ways and concentrate on real issues. Quote
Chili327 Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 Yea, i'm sure he didn't know that there is a proper order flag's are supposed to go in. I believe it is also against the law to put a State Flag above the US Flag. It has to go in order.. US State County City Etc.. Quote

Guest [+30]PuddyTat Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 a few hundred years ago, the europeans came to this country, stuck a fat one in the ass of the indian peoples, and claimed this country as their own. then they turned it into the greatest place on earth to live. now everyone is bitching because people all over the world want to live here, work here, and be "americans". kind of hypocratic isn't it? xREVERENDx Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 I thought it was all about country. Our country, not symbols like the flag.... Look, I fly the flag that was on my dads casket on memorial day and the 4th out of respect for him. Does this make me more american than anyone else?... No. I dont really get sentimental about a piece of clothe, and guess I dont understand those that do. To me, what that man did was just plain offensive, and wrong. Iv'e heard that freedom isn't free, well niether is it nice and clean and wrapped in a bow, either. Quote
Guest [iLL] Andawg Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 Freedom is not free, that is correct. The price that was paid for our freedom should not be disrespected, by having the representation of our freedom (The Stars and Stripes) be displayed in a disrespectful manner. Ever wonder why the flag is red, white, and blue? While the flag's colors did not have a specific meaning at the time, the colors were significant for the Great Seal of 1782. White: Signifies purity and innocence Red: Signifies valor and bravery Blue: Signifies Vigilance, perseverance, and justice Why stars and stripes? Stars are considered a symbol of the heavens and the divine goal to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun IF a person doesn't believe Our Flag is worth respecting, then they do not deserve the right to call it theirs.
