IRISH BULL Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 How are the Live subscriptions broken down. I mean, there are levels of what you pay for, right? Like silver, gold, etc. Also, I was wondering about the Netflix access. How do you access Netflix via your XBOX? I know you need a Live account, but do you have to have a separate Netflix account? If you haven't heard, Playstation is gonna start charging a fee for certain extras. http://playstationlifestyle.net/2009/12/20/survey-reveals-psn-subscription-details/ Online gaming will always be free, but a subscription for other benefits is gonna cost ya. Which I'm fine with, except for this detail. "Netflix Access Without Disc – Access the Netflix video streaming service on your PS3 without the need to insert a special disc into the drive each time to access the service. A separate Netflix subscription would also be needed to enjoy the service. Netflix offers over 17000 popular movies and TV shows for streaming on your laptop or a supported device such as a PS3." I was under the impression that a certain level of a Live account includes a Netfilx account also. Is that correct?? Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted December 21, 2009 Report Staff Posted December 21, 2009 You are incorrect!! ;D Even with the gold membership on XBL, you still need to have a netflix account. Depending on which netflix package you sign up for, will determine how many movies you can have at any given time. Quote
CpDude05 Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 What big said. But I bought my Live for 50 bucks a year. Then I pay 8 dollars a month, that gives me 1 disk out at a time and all the movies i can watch on the stream. Quote
IRISH BULL Posted December 21, 2009 Author Report Posted December 21, 2009 OK, thanks. That actually makes me feel better. I thought this new subscription fee was trying to squeeze out a little more. Does the gold membership get you access to digital games? I mean, is this new PSN subscription fee pretty much the same thing as Live? Which would be a good thing, right? Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted December 21, 2009 Report Staff Posted December 21, 2009 I haven't read any of the drivel on the PS3 stuff, because I'm not interested until they make us pay for servers, so they can actually police and fix lag in a timely manner, but here is the gold package. http://www.xbox.com/NR/exeres/F925FE0C-E310-491A-82E0-7A604A353BFB.htm Gold Membership Xbox LIVE Gold is a premium membership that lets you play games with friends online. Gold membership includes all the features of Silver (below) plus additional benefits and features. Multiplayer games: Invite your friends into a multiplayer match and compete against each other or play co-op through expansive adventures. Marketplace: Gold members get early and exclusive access to select game add-ons, demos, trailers, videos, and more. TrueSkill matchmaking: For every ranked game you play, TrueSkill finds the best match for your skill level. Parties: Invite a group of friends into an Xbox LIVE Party, then you can all join games and play and chat together. Gamer feedback: Use the feedback system to select players you want to play with (or avoid) the next time you're online. Watch Netflix movies: Xbox LIVE Gold members who also belong to Netflix can watch Netflix’s extensive library of streaming movies and TV shows right on their console at no additional charge. A Gold membership costs $49.99 for one year—less than five dollars a month! Xbox LIVE Gold cards can also be purchased at your favorite game retailer for a three- or twelve-month membership. BigMoneyNacku Posted December 21, 2009 Report Staff Posted December 21, 2009 Except for the servers. The only reason I would pay extra on ps3. :'( Quote
Directors John Posted December 22, 2009 Directors Report Directors Posted December 22, 2009 the netflix thing I can speaks for, though I have it on PS3. yeah you need a netflix subscription but its damn cool because you can watch anything they have streaming, at any time as many times as you want. you can pause fastforward, replay, resume etc. The bad part is only about 1/3 the library is something good or something you would watch again because its a classic. the other 2/3 is the worst, straight to DVD bullshit you ever saw. Thats my only beef about it. Quote
CpDude05 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I agree John. My dad loves it for old school shows, I just bought him the roku from netflix so he doesn't keep stealing my xbox. Quote
DK_MaluNYMets Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Hopefully getting it tonight. Quote
