o-BacklasH-o Posted April 20, 2010 Report Posted April 20, 2010 After the Redskins recent off-season workouts and seeing the receivers he has to work with, new Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb has been pushing the coaching staff to bring in free agent receiver Terrell Owens. Remembering their time together on the Eagles and the problems they had as teammates in Philadelphia tells you just how desperate McNabb is to have a good receiver in Washington. In 2004, the Eagles were 10-1 and Owens made it widely known that he wanted the ball more and it became an all out feud between McNabb and Owens that continued through the Eagles Super Bowl loss and beyond In the spring of 2005, Owens held out of camp, demanding the Eagles redo his contract. He harshly criticized McNabb, and said "I wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl." It divided the Eagles locker room that came to a climax when Owens and defensive end Hugh Douglas got into a physical altercation where punches were thrown. Coach Shanahan has said that the Redskins are not actively pursuing Owens. However, while coach of the Broncos, when the Eagles released Owens, he was one the few coaches interested in signing him. Shanahan was concerned about Owens' previous issues, but was willing to offer him a contract with limited guaranteed money so that he could financially control his behavior if it came to that. Shanahan considered it a huge mistake when the Cowboys gave Owens a contract that had considerable upfront guaranteed money. After acquiring McNabb, the Redskins have made improving the wide receiver position their first concern, but if another solution besides Terrell Owens could be found, they would rather not bring T.O. into their locker room. They are trying to bring the team together, not tear them apart. Quote

GeneralSarcasm Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 "I never said that to anyone about T.O. It's just not true," McNabb said in a phone conversation with ESPN's Rachel Nichols. "I'm in a new place, trying to get comfortable, not start anything or push for anything. I am very happy with the receivers I have." I'm sure he wanted TO but them realized he's pissing off his new teammates and retracted. Typical Mcnabb. Now he'll start blaming the press or others for his mistake. Quote
