The upcoming UF: Black II will be comprised of only Socom Combined Assault maps and, possibly, Socom 3 maps (if we choose to use them).

That'd be a GREAT name for a Socom player, too.

I don't know....

Saying Socom is officially dying is a little bit of a stretch.

Players are waiting for map packs and all, yes, and with the advent of PS3 and some new XBox games, then attention can be diverted from Socom, sure.

But when I log on, I still see a great number of people playing this game.

I still see the clan business of recruiting is still going strong.

And I can still see great anticipation from new clans in Socom who've just discovered things like Urgent Fury out there.

I don't think Socom is dying, per se. I just see random individuals' attention to the game waning....and that'll happen with ANY game.

We saw the complaints after Socom 1 when 2 came out, and people thought the maps were too big.

We saw the complaints after Socom 3 came out, and everyone decided to complain that they missed OLD maps instead of indulging themselves into wider areas of play and more people to play with.

I think the complaints will always be there. The complainers and whiners will always be there. Hell, I have some in my OWN clan who bitch constantly about servers every night or lag every night or Zipper every night.....yet they STILL log on to the game. So I can only assume they enjoy the game to SOME degree, and they're just people who like to bitch for the sake of bitching. But until Socom takes down the servers for whatever installment of Socom is currently out there, I don't think Socom will be dying. If it were, there wouldn't be people out there still playing Socoms 1 and 2. And as soon as screen shots are released for Socom 4 or some new, mythical map pack, then everyone will be salivating again.......JUST as much as the same faction of people out there will be bitching about it.

It's all about personal taste, what it boils down to.

Just to be clear.....if we reach 32, then al 32 will participate in Black 2.

If there are LESS than 32, then we will be forced to make it a 16-clan tourney, and some clans may be disappointed.

AND it was a decent replacement for the show "Over There," though the jury's still out as to whether or not it's JUST as good.

I've actually watched every episode of Supernatural since it began.

I've recently dumped a bunch of my shows on my Tivo's to-do season pass list, so I was basically looking for some good show suggestions aaaaand WHY they're good shows! LOL

So....what is THE show you're watching now that you think EVERYONE should be watching as well?

For myself, I find myself telling people how good of a show "The Shield" is.

It's on FX and I find a surprising number of people don't even KNOW about it, much less watch it.

I think the characters in this drama are pretty rich and the story seems to have just the right amount of urgency in every week's episode where the hour just flies by. Dirty cops, dirtier cops and some dirty bad guys......the show is just DIRTY!

If we don't reach 32 sign ups, then we'll have to reduce it back down to 16.....leaving a lot of disappointed clans behind.

SO LET'S GO INVITE US SOME GOOD CLANS!

B2 will start approx a week after that.

The response to UF:B2 is pretty strong, with 28 clans signing up for the action launching in just a few short weeks.

As of right now, we're at 28 clans signed up.

All clans here in the UF community play with clans nightly who are not yet here. If this is the case, and you know of a clan that would enjoy the tournament environment we provide AND they would fit within the UF community of honest clans, then by all means have them sign up! We're looking for FOUR more clans to sign up, but of course getting as MANY as possible would be even better.

For those clans NEW to the UF community, you may want to look up some APC rooms so that Sniper's and my clanmates may get to know your clan's vibe. It definitely helps in getting your clan an invitation into the action.

Also, look up some veteran clans of UF as well, as they have many members who will pass on some good words (or bad..... ) about their experience with you. Again....it helps!

Here is the info I had posted on a separate thread earlier last week:

End date for sign-ups is April 29th.

Invitations will be issued on April 30th.

Start date for UFBII will be 1-2 weeks thereafter, though more likely on the 1-week end.

We have had a GOOD number of clans arrive to sign up this time.

Last season, UF: Black saw 16 clans in its inaugural start.

There is a POSSIBILITY that UFBII can go to 32 clans, to stay within the system of the bracket. But to do that, we would like to see at LEAST 32 clans sign up and more, so we can make the best decisions on the invitations.

If your clan is UF material, and in playing nightly you know of another friendly clan of yours that could fit in the UF community here, spread the word about UF to them. You could be pulling them into a great community of clans here and into a great second season of UF: BLACK.

Again apologies if this all old hat, I just would hate to see it all fall apart.

I have been smokeosama since socom 1 and will probably never change names, but if I did it I would go with Lateralus (Tool album and song). It has a nice ring to it and to date I have never seen it on socom.

 

Which osama did you want to smoke? And if it is bin laden how did you know you wanted to smoke him before 911? Just curious
