Well I hope this doesn't happen to mine. CZ told me he has done at least three already and the first one he did is still working fine. That was about four months ago. I'm hoping it sells before then. Off topic, but Ghost, that new tag is cool and all, but the "\" disables you from getting PM's on these type of forums. At least it did when Hollow Ground was around. That's why on these forums we were [H] and not [\H/] , which was out actual tag. Just a heads up is all. Oh, also on CoD:MW1, our tag showed up as [H/]. The "\" didn't show up because of the coding.

I have mine in the lowest level of my house and its well ventilated and cleaned every week. I think the only way to prevent this on some machines is to play in a semi refridgerated room.

You have to be a total jerk-face to get booted off PS3's online community. However, that's what Erik Estavallo managed to do whilst playing Resistance. With access to the game cut off, Estavallo decided to take part in the most appropriate action possible: a lawsuit. Estavallo argues that a ban from the PlayStation Network goes against his First Amendment rights. "The plaintiff was exercising his First Amendment Rights to Freedom of Speech in the game's public forum when he was banned from, not only [Resistance], but also banned from playing all other games online via the PlayStation Network," a court document retrieved by GamePolitics reveals. This, in turn, has caused "pain and suffering" because the PS3 is "the only way the plaintiff can truly socialize since he also suffers from Agoraphobia." Estavallo is asking for $55,000 in punitive damages and demands Sony no longer implement bans of any sort. He alleges that "PlayStation 3 is the only system that incorporates this type of wide-ranged ban. As where Nintendo does not ban customers at all. And Microsoft Xbox rarely bans." After you read the article, click on his name Erik Estavallo. This wasn't his only lawsuit. He is quite the douche bag.

The problem is that you dont see that someone is in a private match. Take a look at your friends list next time you are in a private room. We get the same stuff all the time. Someone on your friends list just hits "Join Session" and he is in the war. A real PITA. Rogue I bumped the thread for ya over at the I-Dub site. Eval members should get in the habit of updated their comment. I've seen some people on my list that have their comment state "Eval War, Don't Join". Or something along those lines.

I know its not a blow dryer, that was a joke. But really, its basically a blower dryer with a bigger engine. So what did Sony do wrong with the original PS3 that they are not doing with the slim models? AND, after you perform this task, are they more secure??

So I watched all the vids on this fix. Why does taking a hair dryer and some heat compound fix the problem? Explain it in lamens terms. And what causes it to do this in the first place?? I'm just really curious. I mean, if you had to replace some major piece of equipment in there, fine, I get that. But essentially you don't have to replace anything. BTW, Ghost, did you finally get yours working? And if so, do you still own it and is it working fine now??

The other issue is the eval member having people on his friends list that disrupt what he is doing.

CZ is fixing it for me. After I get it fixed, I'm putting it on Craig's list. I figured if and when I get someone that wants an original PS3 for the card slots and backwards capabilities, I'll get a new slim then. BTW, did this occur from anything I could have done different? Its in a well ventilated area and I make sure the vents are always clean. When this happened though, I was DL'ing a lot of crap from the PSN store. Demo's and stuff from the video store. Or was this inevitable?

Mine was a launch PS3. I actually thought I would be fine because I didn't think I played that much to EVER cause damage. Anyway, there is absolutely no way I can retrieve any of the data from the HDD? I honestly could give a shit about the game saves, the pics, or any music. But I had some 2-3 minutes clips of my daughter from that I recorded with the PS3 Eye. Thanks for all the info and help.

Thanks bro. BTW, does anyone have the exact number I need to call to send this thing back to Sony and repair it for the $150. I decided that I'm gonna repair it, then when I get it back, try and sell it. If and when I sell it, go buy a new one. I'm gonna be out all the data anyway, so fuck it.

Flashing red light on my PS3. I know this has been posted before, but I'm personally not in the mood to look for the threads. I know I'm screwed, but I have a couple of questions: What happens to anything I have saved on it if I send it in? Pictures, vids, music, etc.?? Is it gone for good now?? Also, games saves? Are they gone for good now? Will I need to rank-up again on MW2?? Can I get all the games I purchased via the PSN store back? This is the original 60gb model. If I get it fixed, are they selling pretty quick on ebay or Craig's list? Because I was thinking of just getting a newer model now, having the old one fixed and try and then sell it to recoup some of my losses. Oh yea, my copy of MW2 is still inside. Will they retrieve that for me and send it back with the PS3?
