  1. Hi everyone,

It’s been an unforgettable few weeks for all of us at Insomniac Games. Thank you again for the tremendous support for Marvel’s Spider-Man since we launched last month. The response to the game has been absolutely amazing, and it’s humbling to see the emotional reactions people have shared. I’m also psyched that a ton of people have been earning the Platinum trophy and are now are jumping in to New Game +!

To add to the ongoing excitement, today we launched our first chapter of DLC in Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist. This chapter includes new missions, enemies, suits, and, of course, a new story starring none other than Black Cat herself. While investigating the robbery of a New York art museum, Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson find themselves closing in on criminal super villain Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. The chase will take Spidey and MJ deep into Manhattan’s shadowy world of crime families.

Players will be able to unlock three new suits, including a new, original Resilient Suit designed exclusively for Marvel’s Spider-Man by famed Marvel illustrator Gabriele Dell’Otto. You’ll also be able to discover new collectibles and earn trophies from challenges.

One of my favorite parts of the game is J Jonah Jameson’s “Just the Facts” in-game podcast. I crack a smile every time one of his episodes comes on while I’m swinging through the city – for some reason I never get tired of his ranting. JJJ is back at it again in Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, and we’ve got a new video that captures what’s happening in the city during Spider-Man’s search for the feline felon. Check it out!

Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist costs $9.99 USD MSRP on its own, or you can buy all three Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps chapters for $24.99 USD MSRP either at your local retailer or on PlayStation Store. You can purchase the whole bundle to get the best deal, which is available for pre-order now*! And for those of you who haven’t played the main game yet, you might consider the Digital Deluxe Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man, which includes all three Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps chapters* along with all the cool content that comes with it for $79.99 USD MSRP.

Before I wrap it up here, I wanted to remind people to be on the lookout for more info on the next chapter in Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Turf Wars. You’re going to see explosive action and some powerful scenes unfold. Can’t wait to show you more!

*Users will receive all three Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps chapters by March 2019.

  2. Hi guys, it’s Shabs here from First Contact Entertainment–the developers behind Firewall Zero Hour, the PS VR-exclusive 4v4 tactical shooter!*

It’s been almost two months since launch, and what a ride it’s been! In the time since then, we have received so much awesome feedback from the amazing PS VR community. We were overjoyed at the news that Firewall Zero Hour was PS VR’s #1 most downloaded game in August and September. We have loved seeing all of your hilarious videos, showcasing your many styles of gameplay, teamwork, and communication. From sleuthing out signal modifiers together, to crazy grenade hi-jinks, to entire matches being played with pre-organized team rules like “knife-play only”… we absolutely enjoy seeing every minute of your creativity!

We’ve been listening closely to your feedback along the way. Since launch, we’ve released new updates to the game, improving things like matchmaking wait times, squad matchmaking, and the customization with Crypto process. We are working on continued improvements to the game such as dealing with AFK players, weapon offset options, anti-aliasing for PS4 Pro, and more.

We also launched our first DLC this week, featuring brand new cosmetics like weapon skins, face paints, and trinkets. Check it out below! We think you’ll especially be into the Halloween face paint, which will be free for PS Plus members** and available to download for a limited time only (10/23 – 11/1).

Next, we are excited to share with you some of our team’s favorite tactics for the game, in a new episode of Firewall Zero Hour 101: Advanced Techniques:

    Other Favorite Strategies

Additionally, below are some of our other favorite strategies that did not make it into the Advanced Techniques video. Perhaps you’ve already been experimenting with some of these, if not, we highly recommend you do:

    • As a Defender, coordinate with your team to equip both signal modifiers and doorblockers in a map that lets you get real sneaky with them. You can influence an enemy’s path using door blockers.
    • One favorite custom loadout involves bringing in a Revive Pistol with Smoke Grenades for a medic support approach. If there’s a friendly who needs a revive, pop a Smoke Grenade and then target your downed teammate with the Revive Pistol. This increases the likelihood of your teammate having a chance to take cover, using the smoke as concealment after being revived.
    • Experiment with setting out two mines a few feet apart, so that when an enemy passes near one of them and hears it beeping, they start running away and accidentally run into the second mine. Boom.
    • Having Nala on your team (whose Primary Skill, Ghost, inhibits the setting off of mines) is an effective counter-strategy against any Contractor on the opposing team that may have equipped the Instant Karma skill, in which a player’s corpse is rigged with an armed proximity mine.
    • Flanking can be a crucial strategy when timed right. Pulling off an effective flank requires a combination of communication, teamwork, and timing. If you are trying to pull off a flank, tell your teammates to make some noise to pull the enemies’ attention elsewhere; it could mean the difference between a win and a loss.
    • Okoro, whose Primary Skill of Heavy Duty resists explosive damage, is a powerful component of any team. When you assign Bullet Sponge to him as a Secondary Skill, he is extremely useful to a Defending team.

Thanks again for playing the game and making the launch such an amazing experience. We are committed to supporting Firewall Zero Hour long-term with continued updates and DLC. See you online, Contractors!

*An internet connection is required for all modes of Firewall Zero Hour, including Single Player Training Mode. An active PS Plus membership is required for Multiplayer Training and Multiplayer Contract modes.
**Halloween face paint available only for active PS Plus members.

  6. After many years in development, Shakedown: Hawaii is finally in the… well, final stretch. This latest trailer pulls back the curtain and dives deep into the game – the world, story, empire building, characters, and customization. Take a look and see what’s been brewing!

    Meet the CEO

Shakedown: Hawaii follows an aging CEO, struggling to make sense of the modern world. Online shopping killed his retail stores, ride sharing his taxi business, and streaming his video stores. His company’s stuck in the past, and so is he! To save the company, he’ll need to learn the methods of modern business, and use them to rebuild his empire.

    Shakedown: HawaiiShakedown: Hawaii

    Build a business empire

The entire island is up for grabs… or at least, could be… with the right business model. Build a “legitimate” corporation by completing open-world missions, acquiring businesses, sabotaging competitors, and “rezoning” land.

    Shakedown: HawaiiShakedown: Hawaii

Questionable subsidiaries, misleading ads, fine print, service fees, and marketing spin are your building blocks. Acquired businesses can be used to generate cash, access more weapons, or gain landlord perks such a free haircuts. Feeling extra greedy? Upgrade your businesses by adding multipliers such as “convenience” fees, unnecessary best-before dates, store credit cards, or lobbyists!

    Shakedown: HawaiiShakedown: Hawaii

    16-bit open world

Shakedown: Hawaii features a 16-bit destructible open world, spanning from the city to the suburbs, the beach to the water, to farms, parks, and the jungle. Just about everything (aside from the buildings themselves) can be destroyed and will stay destroyed until you respawn.

    Shakedown: HawaiiShakedown: Hawaii

You can explore the world by foot, by car, or by boat, or go inside the 200+ enterable buildings. It’s filled with stores to shop at (or shoplift from), houses to burgle, civilians to interact with, and secret areas to discover.

Swing by the clothing shops, market stalls, or backyard clotheslines to customize your characters from head to toe. Your shirt, tie, glasses, hat, and even those little pixel “shoes” are all customizable. You can also head to barber shops to change your hairstyle or add some color. Bald is a choice in Shakedown: Hawaii!

It doesn’t end with cosmetics though! You can equip your characters with double jump by getting a knee replacement, or grab some orthotics to run faster!

As for vehicles, the city’s loaded with paint shops. Some are fully loaded, while others offer more niche detailing. Vehicles can also be repaired, or upgraded with nitro boost. You can also use parking garages to save your vehicles.

    Shakedown: Hawaii

    Game modes

Shakedown: Hawaii includes a full Story Mode (including side quests), Arcade Challenges for fast paced pick-up-and-play action, and Free Roam Mode for when you just want to dive into the world and play.

It also includes over 80 stores to shake down for protection money (essentially micro missions). Found across the entire city, they can be completed in any order. From smashing shelves, to scaring customers, to jacking their delivery trucks, destroying their reputation with flyers, or clogging their toilets with paper towels, you’ll get your protection money one way or another! However, some shopkeepers will fight back, or even more dastardly, some are already protected by someone else! You might be walking into a fight, so be ready!

    Shakedown: Hawaii

    The three protagonists

The story follows three protagonists. Although there is in-depth character customization, those teaser clips you’ve been seeing were in fact, different characters the whole time.

First is the CEO, who you’ve already met! Next, his son, an aspiring DJ in search of “gangsta cred”… and about to get in with the wrong crowd. Third, the CEO’s right hand “consultant,” ready to take care of all the dirty work.

    Shakedown: Hawaii

    So… when?!

The good news is that it’s finally content complete. However, it still has a few months of playtesting, polish, and platform certification left. However, it’s finally close enough to lock down a release window — it’ll be in your hands Q1 2019… and it’ll be Cross-Buy for both PS4 and PS Vita!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments below, and am here to respond!

  7. In addition to massive multiplayer warfare, Battlefield V lets you experience World War 2 through the eyes of men and women who helped change the world forever. War Stories are an anthology of single-player tales that will take you on a global journey – from the frozen mountains of Norway to the searing deserts of North Africa. Each story is unique, unexpected, and unforgettable.

The Battlefield V team’s goal was to avoid the familiar portrayals of WW2, breaking fresh ground and bringing unknown stories to light. The focus is on “different voices, different nationalities, and different adventures” according to Eric Holmes, the War Stories design director at DICE.

This new anthology of War Stories is introduced by Mark Strong, who lends his familiar voice to the Prologue and trailer and help sets the tone for Battlefield V. As Strong put it, “There is an attempt to create an emotion in the player and viewer that accesses how we feel about war in general, what it does to people, what it means, even though it has, in terms of gameplay, elements of thrill about it, of excitement and danger.”

    Battlefield V: War Stories

    Your War Stories

What will you be able to play at launch (or shortly after)? The Prologue will give you a great introduction to the world of Battlefield V as you take on the roles of multiple World War 2 characters and sample the Classes, vehicles, and weapons you’ll experience in the game. Under No Flag is an amazing redemption story set in the Royal Navy’s Special Boat Section. Tirailleur focuses on the Senegalese units of the French Colonial Forces and their battles in the south of France. The Last Tiger (scheduled for December of 2018) takes a look at the waning days of the war from the perspective of a Tiger tank crew.

And then there’s Nordlys, set during the occupation of Norway in 1940. The German army is building something dangerous in the blisteringly cold mountains. Something secret, something that could change the course of the war. And it’s up to you to stop them.

Let’s take a more in-depth look at this War Story and what you’ll face in the land of the Northern Lights.

    Battlefield V: War Stories

    The Coldest War

Step into the boots of a young Norwegian resistance fighter, rising up against German forces both to help free her country from occupation and to save her captured mother. She will have to brave the numbing cold of an arctic winter and face overwhelming odds to succeed.

Discover the German force’s plans are plotting at the heavy water plant, sabotage their plans, and free your mother – but most importantly, don’t get caught.

    Battlefield V: War Stories

    Strike Hard, Move Fast

While there are multiple ways for you to achieve your goals in Nordlys and complete this critical mission, the keys will be stealth, intelligence, and the use of very precise (and quiet) weapons. Your character’s expertise on skis will keep her one step ahead of the enemy, and allow her to sneak past their forts and patrols. Her single-shot weapons will require more precision but are less likely to raise any alarms. Your pair of throwing knives, easily hurled as you speed past enemies, will make sure they never know what hit them.

Make too much noise by failing to wipe out or sneak past the German forces you encounter, and you’ll soon find yourself up against even greater odds. Don’t give enemies a chance to call in reinforcements, or you’ll face far tougher fights.

And remember, keep moving. Your greatest foe is the surrounding frozen landscape, and hypothermia will end your resistance just as effectively as a bullet.

Are you ready to fight for your home, your family, and your people in this untold story of World War 2?

Deploy on PS4 starting November 15 for Battlefield V Deluxe Edition early enlister access, and November 20 for the Battlefield V Standard Edition.

    Days Gone

Release date: April 26, 2019 (UPDATED)

    Days Gone for PS4

We want to share a change in release date for this highly anticipated title from Bend Studio. We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February timeframe to April 26, 2019. While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone.

As PlayStation fans already know, Days Gone is an open-world action game set in the high-desert of the Pacific Northwest. Traversing harsh landscapes on their drifter bike, players must fight for resources as they attempt to survive broken roads, unpredictable weather, attacks from other human factions, infected wildlife and roaming Freakers — a brutal, dynamic world that is dangerous both day and night.

    Concrete Genie

    Release timeframe: Spring 2019

    Concrete Genie

Developed by the Pixelopus team at PlayStation, Concrete Genie follows a bullied teenager named Ash who escapes his troubles by painting spectacular living landscapes and mischievous creatures in the walls of his abandoned hometown of Denska. Using a magical paintbrush, Ash discovers his paintings can purify Denska’s polluted walls and bring life back to the town.

Pixelopus, a development studio at PlayStation’s San Mateo campus, is targeting an early 2019 release date for Concrete Genie for the PS4 system. We’ll have more details to share in the weeks and months ahead!

    Everybody’s Golf VR

    Release timeframe: Spring 2019

    Everybody's Golf VR

The hit golf franchise, Everybody’s Golf, makes its PS VR* debut in Spring 2019! Developed by Clap Hanz in association with SIE Japan Studio, players will use the DualShock 4 or PlayStation Move motion controllers to swing their virtual golf clubs.

PS VR allows players to experience the world of Everybody’s Golf in ways they have never been able to before: getting a better sense of the terrain, reading wind direction to evaluate shots, and more.

We know many of you will want to know about key upcoming titles such as the beta for Dreams, Blood & Truth, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, and The Last of Us: Part II. The studios are hard at work polishing up these epic PS4 games, but we aren’t yet ready to share a release timeframe. When that news is available, rest assured – you’ll be the first to know!

  10. Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a brand new adventure set in the dark world of witchers and monsters you might remember from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Today, I’m thrilled to tell you more about how what started out as a simple card game adventure evolved into a single-player RPG that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and turn-based card battle mechanics.

First, let me give you some context.

    Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

This game draws inspiration from genre classics

For as long as I can remember, I was always drawn toward card games, their illustrative and fantastical format always thrusting my imagination into overdrive. I think the first digital card game I ever played and completely fell in love with was Arcomage in Might & Magic VII. I also remember watching my friends play Magic: The Gathering a lot back when I was a kid. After that it was Etherlords, which I thought was a marvelous idea — combining mechanics of Heroes of Might & Magic, of which I’m a huge fan, with the card game format. Over the years I also had multiple run-ins with other digital card games — different editions of Magic: The Gathering, Duels of Champions, just to name a few.

So when I was asked three years ago if I would like to work on Gwent’s single player campaign, memories of how much fun I had playing these kinds of games in the past instantly came rushing back to me.

    Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

It has an all-new story set in the morally grey world of The Witcher

The idea seemed like a great vessel for telling new stories in The Witcher universe, and doing so from new perspectives both gameplay and story-wise. New genre, characters, mechanics, and possibilities, and all of it set in the morally grey world of The Witcher, where every choice you make has a tangible consequence. As a developer, a gamer and card game enthusiast, as well as huge Witcher fan, I was blown away. Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway — I was totally in.

It centers on a familiar, yet unexplored character

Development started off with a simple design. Exploration would take place in an isometric perspective. Players would travel between nodes on a world map, each one representing different story bits, with combat taking place in the form of Gwent battles.

At this point I would write very general ideas for the story. One of those ideas involved having the game follow the tale of Queen Meve of Lyria and Rivia — a prominent, yet up until this point largely unexplored character from The Witcher saga. The idea quickly caught on within the team, and we kept building up from there.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher TalesThronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

It captures the sense of exploring a huge, varied world

It wasn’t long before we started testing what would happen if we introduced free movement on the exploration map instead of the node-based design. An inevitable discussion about asset scale started soon after — how big should the player’s character be compared to objects in the world? A realistic scale would limit the size of playable areas.

On the other hand, a full out-of-scale approach didn’t seem to fit all that well, either. The answer we were looking for was right in the middle — a scale that is closer to realism, but still undefined enough to allow players the possibility of exploring vast and varied areas, with Meve’s character representing both her, as well as her army.

It kept growing (and growing) during development

The side effect was that maps ended up getting significantly bigger. As the world around the player kept growing, we had to find ways to further breathe life into it, which meant creating more content. This included not only quests, but also NPCs, locations, events, and encounters taking place on the map, as well as systems such as buried treasures, interactive objects players can engage with, and so on.

At the same time, the story was getting bigger, too, and we found ourselves requesting more and more assets: cutscenes, additional systems on top of the ones we already had, both within the game world, as well as in the player’s customizable battle camp.

    Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

The result: a standalone, story-driven RPG

One discussion led to another, and soon what was 10+ hours of gameplay became an actual RPG featuring over 30 hours of story-driven gameplay, where card battles are just one part of a much bigger experience.

This is when we started considering dividing Gwent and Thronebreaker into two separate games. We wanted to communicate clearly that the tale of Queen Meve is no longer a short story adventure for Gwent. It’s a fully-featured, standalone game, and a Witcher tale through and through, that you can fully enjoy whether you’re a long-time fan, or new to this universe.

Making the game was a thrill for the team. It is our hope that you’ll love playing Thronebreaker when it launches on PS4 December 4, as much as we enjoyed creating it.

    Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Thronebreaker is packed with free digital goodies

As is CD Projekt Red tradition, Thronebreaker will come with a bunch of free digital goodies, whether you pre-order the game right now at PlayStation Store or buy it post-launch.

These include Thronebreaker’s epic soundtrack and beautiful concept art, “Gwent: Art of The Witcher Card Game” artbook and “Fox Children” graphic novel from Dark Horse, as well as Card Kegs, player titles and avatars for Gwent.

  12. It’s time to step back onto the Stage of History! SoulCalibur VI arrives on PS4 tomorrow, October 19 with over 20 playable characters and multiple game modes to experience.

    Story Modes

On launch day, you will have the opportunity to play through two different types of story modes. The first mode is called Soul Chronicle which dives into the canon storyline of SoulCalibur VI. With character dialogue sequences and cutscenes, this mode expands on the SoulCalibur lore and builds upon your favorite warrior’s backstories.

The second story mode is called Libra of Soul, which gives you the opportunity to create a custom character and build your own story. Traversing across a world map, fight through different missions to build your character’s level and challenge higher-level enemies. As you progress, you’ll upgrade your character’s weapons, earn resources, and carve their fate.

    SoulCalibur VI

    Character Creation

Another fan-favorite mode that returns in SoulCalibur VI is character creation. Customize your character’s appearance and battle style to your heart’s desire. Modify every small detail from of your character’s race, gender, physicality, armor, and weapons before taking them into the ring!

    SoulCalibur VI

    Online and Offline Battles

After creating your character, you can try your hand at both online and offline battles. With online battles, you play either ranked matches or casual matches. Fight your way up the leaderboards by earning ranked points and take on the fiercest competitors around the globe. There is also a replay feature that allows you to watch previous battles to fine tune your technique.

For offline battles, there is the option to play through arcade mode which has the player battling against eight CPU characters in a classic arcade-style. There is also versus mode which has you going head to head with either a player-controlled character or CPU. This mode offers endless matches with friends and family, as you relentlessly battle each other in one-on-one combat. Finally, we have training mode which gives you the ability to reference combos, move lists and tinker with situational/environmental conditions to prepare yourself for battle!

The game that defined weapon-based fighters returns for a new generation! Sharpen your weapon and fasten your armor. It’s time to step into the ring and become true master of SoulCalibur VI when it hits PS4 tomorrow.

  13. Summer 2017 was a simpler time: Despacito ruled the airwaves, fidget spinners were still a hot commodity, I didn’t have crippling anxiety, and the world got to date Dads. Dream Daddy: a Dad Dating Simulator took the world by storm with an extremely specific visual novel about dating Dads that nobody necessarily knew that they wanted, but were seemingly very happy to have.

    Dream DaddyDream Daddy

    Dream Daddy

The smash hit game went on to be featured in numerous best-of lists, garnering mentions in Wired, the BBC, and Pitchfork (for its slamming theme song by Baths). It somehow superseded Overwatch as the most talked-about game on Tumblr, and for one day it managed to outsell PUBG as the most-bought PC game on Steam. Afterward, Oni Press published a comic book starring all the Dream Daddies.

My own Dad still has not played it.

    Dream Daddy

With all that said, it is my extreme pleasure to announce that Dream Daddy: Dadrector’s Cut will hit PS4 on October 30. This is the game’s first foray into the console world, and as a longtime PS4 owner I couldn’t be happier to see this game alongside titles like Bloodborne and Metal Gear Solid 5. Also, those who’ve already purchased the game on Steam will receive a free update!

    Dream DaddyDream Daddy

The Dadrector’s Cut features cut content, new sidequests, the ability to replay minigames that you’ve discovered throughout the game, and a brand-new minigame for your enjoyment!

You and your daughter have just moved into the sleepy seaside town of Maple Bay only to discover that everyone in your neighborhood is a single, dateable Dad! Will you go out with Teacher Dad? Goth Dad? Bad Dad? Or any of the other cool Dads in this game? With a variety of paths and endings, Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator hopes to be the year’s most anticipated Dad-based game for the second year in a row.

    Dream DaddyDream Daddy

Dream Daddy features seven dateable Dads featuring voice acting from Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan of Game Grumps, writing from Leighton Gray and Vernon Shaw, and artwork and pinups by Shanen Pae, J.N. Wiedle, Anna Pan, Tyson Hesse, Ellen Alsop, Evan Palmer, Ego Rodriguez, and many more!

Are you ready? Hi Ready. I’m Dad.

  14. Since we launched Marvel’s Spider-Man, we’ve been absolutely floored by the amazing response from everyone. Since then, one of the most common questions we have received is, “when can I get more content to play?” You’ll be happy to know that our first chapter of our Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps DLC Series, Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, will release in one week on October 23rd. We’re thrilled to continue expanding our original Spider-Man universe with this first of three add-on chapters.

    Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist

As we have throughout the year for the base game, we worked with Marvel artists on some brand new art for Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist. This art illustrating Spider-Man and Black Cat, comes from famed Marvel illustrator and suit designer Adi Granov.

As you play Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, you’ll encounter the beginning of a new, interconnected story taking place over the three chapters of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. A robbery at an art museum entangles Spider-Man and MJ with an old flame from Peter Parker’s past, Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. Beyond new story missions, there’s a whole new faction of enemies, new crimes, new challenges, new trophies, and of course, three brand new suits.

    Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist

Here’s a first look at the three new suits. One we’d love to highlight is the Resilient Suit, by famed Marvel illustrator Gabriele Dell’Otto. We loved bringing original suits to the game, starting with our Advanced Suit, and continuing with Adi Granov’s Velocity Suit, and this is another great one. Additionally we have two more suits that fans of the comics will recognize, Spider-Man’s suit from Scarlet Spider II, and the Spider-UK suit from the Spider-Verse.

    Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist

Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist can be purchased on the PlayStation Store for $9.99 USD MSRP. If you want to save a few dollars, you can order the entire Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps series for $24.99 USD MSRP, which will get you Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, as well as the two additional chapters releasing later this year.

Haven’t picked up Marvel’s Spider-Man yet? Check out the Digital Deluxe Edition – which for $79.99 USD MSRP gets you the full game, as well as all three chapters of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps upon their respective individual release!

Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist releases on October 23rd. In case you missed it, here’s another look at the teaser!

That’s all for now, be sure to keep an eye on the Insomniac Games Twitter, Facebook and Instagram feeds for all the latest!

  20. Ghost Mode is a brand-new game mode coming to Hitman 2! It’s a 1v1 competitive multiplayer mode done our way, with our rules and promises to put all of your assassination skills to the test.

    What is Ghost Mode?

Your mission in Ghost Mode is to kill targets faster and cleaner than your opponent. You’ll race to eliminate the same target to earn a point and then you’ll both move on to the next target. The first to earn five points will win. So far, so good.

The twist with Ghost Mode is that you and your opponent will hunt targets in separate realities. You both play in the same location, for example Miami, and have the same target to hunt, but the status of your reality is only affected by your actions. To add to the fun (and tension!), you can see a Ghost version of your opponent in your reality, so you can see how close they are to the target, what disguise they have on and any items they’re holding.

    Hitman 2

    Stay in the Game

When your opponent eliminates a target in their reality, you’ll have a short time window to successfully kill your own target to equalize the score and stay in the game. But don’t panic because if you kill non-targets, your score will decrease. Next time, you’ll want to put the pressure on your opponent by getting that first kill and starting that countdown timer.

Ghost Mode is not always about being the fastest – you also need to be smart and precise. Your target kills need to be unnoticed to earn points and start with a limited loadout. To find more items, you’ll need to find and open Ghost Crates that are located within the location. Each Ghost Crate contains a selection of items, which are the same for both players. If you’re the first one to open it, you’ll be able to choose the item you want and stop your opponent from taking it. If you choose to run straight for a Ghost Crate, that might mean your opponent gets the first point, but you’ll be prepared for the next one.

    Countdown to Launch

You’ll be able to play Ghost Mode and test your assassination skills when Hitman 2 launches on November 13. The game will invite you into a world of assassination, where Agent 47 will travel across the globe to multiple continents as he hunts the mysterious Shadow Client.

Hitman 2 will also include the brand-new Sniper Assassin game mode at launch for all players. Sniper Assassin allows you to complete a sniper mission in online co-op, a first for the Hitman franchise, and anyone who pre-orders the game will get early access to Sniper Assassin, available to play now!

As we move closer to our November 13 launch, it’s a genuine thrill to talk more about our game and reveal details to our players. Everyone on the team at IOI has worked extremely hard to make Hitman 2 the best game possible, and we look forward to hearing what you think of Ghost Mode!

  21. For Honor Marching Fire is set to release on October 16 on PlayStation 4. The expansion is bringing with it a host of updates including four new Wu Lin faction Heroes and a new Arcade mode that offers unlimited PvE content. Additionally, Marching Fire will introduce a 4v4 Breach mode and a graphical remaster with enhanced lighting and textures that will be free for all players. The remaster will update all multiplayer maps in the game as well content in the story mode. To learn more about the graphical changes coming to For Honor, including updates specific to the Temple Garden map, we spoke with Christian Diaz, Art Director on For Honor.

How did you decide to take on this remaster project?

Christian Diaz: It actually started early in 2017, just before the game launched. I had thought of a few things that I was hoping we could improve down the line and spoke with some team members before we decided to try to make it happen. We knew that if the art team could utilize the new and improved features from the 3D programming team that we could improve the visuals of the game.

What impact do you think this remaster will have on For Honor players?

CD: We’re not expecting players to look at these enhancements as brand new maps. I think the goal of these changes is really to give players a better feeling of what they are already playing. I find the overall image to be more harmonious and players will definitely see more details.

For Honor: Temple Garden (Original)For Honor: Temple Garden (Remaster)

What part of these graphical improvements are you most proud of?

CD: The whole thing really. The amount of work that went into this remaster was huge. Usually when you ship a game, you don’t have a chance to rework the stuff you just shipped, but since the beginning we knew we were a platform, and if we wanted this platform to be alive then we needed to do anything we could to improve the game on every level. It’s an opportunity you don’t get often. I’m still so happy that we were able to do it at all, because it’s so rare to get to immediately improve on your work.

Have the remasters allowed you to do anything new from a visual storytelling perspective?

CD: I think we can convey a better sense of what you’re supposed to be feeling at any given point with the remaster. If you’re playing a Valkenheim map and it’s supposed to look and feel cold, we can convey that sense of temperature much more now. Similarly, the warmth of a place like Ashfeld will be more apparent now. The campaign and the cinematics have receive a refresh as well so players looking to revisit the campaign will also notice new visual aspects.

What do you feel the team has changed the most in Temple Garden?

CD: I think it’s the Valkenheim mood lighting of the map that gives it a different feeling. We added a lot more snow and I think it’s the location that’s changed the most. In Temple Garden, when you take a look at the rooftops or the ground, you’ll see a lot more snow, it really feels like a cold winter. Not only is there more snow, but we’ve enriched the textures so it looks better than ever before.

For Honor: Temple Garden (Original)For Honor: Temple Garden (Remaster)

What specific changes did you make to the lighting to make the map shine?

CD: One thing that really pops for me are the details and the volumes. Right now, the updated lighting tech gives you more directionality with the lighting and allows you to read details in the map more easily. These elements bring the details of the map to light. There’s suddenly a filter of color that comes out much more in the map. I feel like the image becomes more harmonious, smooth, and richer.

Is there a particular aspect of the map that you’re excited for players to experience?

CD: I think there are a few in this map, but the one that interests me most is indoors next to the defender’s spawn point. I think the lighting in the L-shaped corridor nearby shines really well. The propagation of lighting is super convincing. This area is in the dark, but you have some lighting coming through the windows and it makes the area very rich compared to how flat it felt before.

Do you think the remaster will make people feel better about getting thrown into the pond?

CD: I hope so, if you get pushed into the pond, you’ll get to see the reworked textures of the Koi fish in the water!

All players will have access to the graphical remaster and new 4v4 Breach mode when For Honor Marching Fire launches on October 16. Those who pick up the For Honor Marching Fire expansion from PlayStation Store will receive immediate access to the four new Wu Lin Heroes and PvE Arcade mode. All other players can unlock the Wu Lin Heroes on October 30 for 15,000 Steel each.

  22. If you’ve played our games before, you know that they aren’t exactly your “standard” party games. Players connect to the game using their mobile device as their controller while the game is hosted on your PS4. You can play these games with anyone from your college dorm suitemates to your Grandma Rose. Our latest group of games, The Jackbox Party Pack 5, is coming to PS4 players on Tuesday, October 16. Pushing the boundaries of how you play party games has always been our deal, and this new pack is no exception!

You Don’t Know Jack: Full Stream is the latest in a 23-year-old comedy trivia franchise that has hundreds of thousands of die-hard fans. This modern update is the first to support eight players, and includes a bigger crazier Jack Attack as its final round. You better hope you’re smarter than your fellow players. But if you’re not, the all-new Screws let you mess with your friends’ devices, making it harder for them to answer and giving you an edge.

In Split the Room, we transcend space and time by giving players a weird hypothetical question that’s missing one crucial detail. Your objective is to complete the scenario so that it splits the room’s response. It’s designed to spark lively discussions about ridiculous situations. Oh, and it’s hosted by an omniscient cat.

Jackbox Party Pack 5Jackbox Party Pack 5

In past Jackbox Games, we’ve seen the power of sound in making people laugh. In the robot rap battle game Mad Verse City, you can take it to the next level by using text-to-speech to create sick(-ish) rap verses for your android avatar. It’s all the fun of being in a rap battle, but you can blame the robot if you lose!

A lot of our games ask you to create ridiculous drawings, but only Patently Stupid uses those drawings for the betterment of society. Doodle bizarre inventions to solve problems submitted by other players, then pitch your product to get “funding.” It even creates an opportunity for you to get up, pitch, and channel your inner salesperson.

Zeeple Dome is one of our most ambitious party games yet. This slingshot physics game (set on an evil alien game show) requires you to fling your alien avatar at bloodthirsty enemies. Earn Zubabucks to unlock better power-ups and harder challenges. Slinging on your phone while keeping your eyes glued to the screen will quickly become second nature… if you want humanity to survive.

Jackbox Party Pack 5Jackbox Party Pack 5

In addition to these features, here are a few more you can enjoy in The Jackbox Party Pack 5:

    • You Don’t Know Jack: Full Stream, Split the Room, Mad Verse City, and Patently Stupid all support an audience of up to 10,000 people!
    • Desire a quiet night in? Both You Don’t Know Jack: Full Stream and Zeeple Dome can be played single player!
    • Streamers now have the ability to limit the maximum number of players in a game so that they have more control over who in their community is able to join.

We hope you enjoy The Jackbox Party Pack 5. Don’t forget to pick up the game when it’s released on Tuesday, October 16, or be forever doomed to party drudgery!

  23. Here at Firesprite Games we have been toiling away on some great new features for The Persistence, and we are delighted to announce that it will be coming to you as a free update on October 18. The update has four brand-new game modes, a whole host of accessibility features, and even the screen display is sharper!

    The Persistence

    New Game Modes

Right now, the game has the main Campaign, plus Survival Mode where you are challenged to play through Campaign again using only 10 clones. The new modes add a massive amount of variety to the game.

    • GLASS CANNON: This is an all-action challenge mode which proved really popular at EGX last month. In it, you need to make it through 24 increasingly difficult rooms to get to an escape pod at the far end of the Deck. You get to select a gun at the start of each attempt, which comes with infinite ammo – the downside is that you only have one hit point, and there are no health pickups! Each time you enter a room, the doors lock and the mutants attack. You need to take them out as quickly as possible as the game is against the clock. How quickly can you get to the escape pod?
    • CAMPAIGN+: In Campaign+ you keep all your Gear and Upgrades from your previous Campaign playthrough, and are now challenged with an ultra hardcore difficulty mode. The rules of the game have been changed to make it feel different too. You can no longer use SuperSense to spot enemies hiding in cover, and you will notice that a Bloodhound just keeps following you! To combat this, there are all-new character upgrade levels, and ‘Platinum’ rarity Gear items to give you a fighting chance.

    The Persistence

FIRST BLOOD: First Blood is a stealth based challenge mode where you need to make your way through another huge procedurally generated deck to the escape pod. Only equipped with a Peacekeeper knife and totally outnumbered, can you sneak your way through to the escape pod? PERMADEATH: As the names suggests, in this mode once you die, that’s it. You’re dead! The challenge is to complete the entire campaign on a single life (it’s not for the faint-hearted!). However, there is a big change that makes a big difference. There are Deck Porters in this mode that take you instantly between all Decks, and to Recovery, to quickly upgrade and buy Gear.

    All-New Accessibility Features

We really focused on designing The Persistence to be a tough challenge, but we also believe that games should be fun and inclusive for players of different skill levels, and also for players with disabilities. It’s because of this we have included a comprehensive suite of accessibility features with this update. You can check some of them out in this video.

    Assist Mode

You can turn on Assist Mode in the Pause Menu at any time, in any Mode or Playthrough. It gives you fine tuning of the game’s difficulty to help you get through parts of the game that are proving too challenging.

    • Game speed. Slows down the game speed to assist players with less ability to react quickly.
    • Damage. Reduce the damage taken to help survive longer.
    • Infinite teleport. Get around more quickly with less reliance on the Sticks.
    • Infinite ammo. Ideal for players with less ability to aim with their head.
    • All enemies ‘tagged’. See enemies through walls at all times, to reduce the need for quick reactions.
    • Auto shield. Automatically deploy the shield reducing the need for fast twitch reactions.

    The Persistence

    Assistance For Hearing Impaired Gamers

For hearing impaired gamers there are several features to make the game more inclusive, most notably, the visual representation of key audio events. A lot of the strategy in The Persistence comes from hearing where the danger is and reacting to it, so displaying this information on screen gives that vital communication to all players.

  25. Darksiders I and II introduced players to the unforgettable characters of War and Death, the first and second Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Their larger-than-life forms and weaponry became the signatures for the franchise. In these first two installments of Darksiders, players’ discovery of new gadgets within the game world helped fuel player progression.

Darksiders III represents a giant leap forward for the franchise in terms of character progression. Like War and Death, our central character Fury, the third Horseman of the Apocalypse, is a force in battle! Her primary weapon of choice: a powerful whip comprised of 347 blades! Unlike her brothers, Fury is a mage, her weapon progression tied to actual changes in her physical form. For example, in Force Fury form, she has a new weapon – The Hammer – and her new traversal move is in ball form. Force Fury is one of the four different forms Fury will unlock as the story progresses.

    Darksiders 3Darksiders 3

The result of these various sets of forms, weaponry, traversals and powers is more tactical combat. Players can look forward to more meaningful battles and fewer mass battles. Fury will endure major boss fights with formidable opponents including each of the Seven Deadly Sins. Each Sin boasts his own style and presents unique challenges in battle. Sloth, for instance, commands an army of monsters while he leisurely lobs globules of poison.

    Darksiders 3

Another important gameplay difference in terms of player progression is that gameplay in Darksiders III is non-linear. Players can decide which bosses to take on at various points in the story.

We believe these changes in gameplay progression create a more sophisticated Darksiders player experience. They serve as a reflection of how complex and defining a character Fury will be for the entire franchise.
